So, she decided to open a convenience store on China Street, and I’m now the store manager and cashier!”


    Surprised, Charlie asked, “You’ve opened a convenience store? Is it just you and Mrs. Lewis running it?”


    Lisa exined, “Initially, it was just the two of us, but once we got established, I realized I needed help, so I hired another clerk.”


    Concerned, Charlie inquired, “That sounds exhausting! Is it tough managing a convenience store?”


    “Not really,” Lisa reassured him with a smile. “Our store is simr in size to those back home, and we have dedicated suppliers who deliver directly. I don’t have to run around much; my daily tasks are pretty simple—collecting payments, stocking goods, and cleaning.”


    Continuing, Lisa added, “Auntie Lewis works incredibly hard. She’s such a kind person, always polite and eager to help others. Because of this, even though the store just opened, we already have quite a few regr customers!”


    Charlie quickly asked, “Is Mrs. Lewis around? I’d love to chat with her.”


    Lisa responded, “Mrs. Lewis is at themunity daycare right now.”


    Curious, Charlie asked, “Daycare? Where is that?”


    Lisa exined, “It’s called a Day Care, which is quite simr to our nursery schools. Many Chinese families here have both parents working, and since most of them are first-generation immigrants, they often can’t rely on their elders for help. So, during the day, the children are taken care of at the daycare.”


    She continued, “Themunity in Chinatown has set up a semi-public kindergarten to assist these parents. Auntie Lewis has a wealth of experience from working in a welfare home, and she genuinely enjoys being around children. Knowing that the daycare needed extra hands, she volunteered to help out. Now, she’s be the most beloved aunt at the daycare!”
