Charlie casually picked up the box, embraced it, and exited the vi alongside Liu Manqiong.
In the yard, Liu Manqiong headed straight for a standard version of the Te Model 3.
This entry-level sedan from Te, which is the most affordable model, seemed oddly out of ce among the luxury Rolls-Royces and Maybachs parked around.
Charlie was taken aback to see Liu Manqiong driving an electric car worth over 200,000 yuan, and a hint of surprise crossed his face.
Noticing his reaction, Liu Manqiong addressed him, saying, “Mr. Wade, please don’t mind my car if it seems a bit rough.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
“Not at all,” Charlie replied with a smile, waving his hand dismissively. “I’m not picky about cars. Whether it’s a four-wheeled electric vehicle or even a two-wheeled one, I’m perfectly fine.”
Liu Manqiong nodded, albeit a bit coolly, and said, “That’s good to hear. Mr. Wade, could you please help me by cing these items in the trunk?”
“Of course,” Charlie agreed willingly. After loading the items into the trunk, he climbed into the passenger seat.
By the time Charlie settled in, Liu Manqiong was already in the driver’s seat. She drove the Te out of the vi without hesitation.
As they made their way down the mountain along Shixun Road, she inquired, “Where would Mr. Wade like to go shopping this afternoon?”
“I’m flexible,” Charlie said with a grin. “As the guest, I’m happy to go wherever the host wishes. Miss Manqiong, feel free to arrange it however you like.”
Liu Manqiong nodded and cast a nce at Charlie, asking, “By the way, Mr. Wade, there’s something I’ve been curious about. I hope it’s alright to ask?”
Charlie replied with a smile, “Are you wondering if I’m currently single, Miss Manqiong?”<fna6f3> ?????? ???? FindN0vel</fna6f3>
“No,” Liu Manqiong said, her brow furrowing slightly. “I actually wanted to ask if you understood the significance behind the repeated mention of roast goose during dinner?”
Realizing Liu Manqiong might have some insight, Charlie shook his head. “I just brought it up casually. I’m not aware of any deeper meaning. Perhaps you could borate?”
Liu Manqiong exined, “My father once had a subordinate named Arman. Later, Arman eloped with my current stepmother to the United States, where they opened a roast goose shop in Chinatown. My father has always been sensitive about this, making roast goose a sort of taboo subject for him.”
Charlie remarked lightly, “With all due respect, Miss Manqiong, your stepmother doesn’t strike me as someone who could endure hardship.”
“That’s true,” Liu Manqiong conceded. “She often can’t even be bothered to wash her own underwear and has several servants at her beck and call daily.”
With a sigh, Liu Manqiong added, “Yet, despite her pampered lifestyle, she managed to follow Arman and run a roast goose shop in the U.S. for several years. That’s something I never expected.”
Charlie casually suggested, “It sounds like she and Arman might have had a genuine connection.”
Liu Manqiong shook her head in response. “I can’t say for sure.”
She then nced at Charlie again, asking, “Mr. Wade, do you genuinely not know these details?”
Charlie shrugged and replied, “I’m aware that Mrs. Liu eloped with someone, and I believe everyone on Hong Kong Ind has heard about it. It’s the kind of gossip that big entrepreneurs share after dinner. However, I’m not familiar with what she did abroad after that.”
Recognizing that Liu Manqiong was not an ordinary woman, Charlie wanted to keep his true intentions under wraps.
After all, even Lau Ka Fai had only recently discovered that Arman opened a roast goose shop in the U.S., and this information hadn’t returned to Hong Kong Ind yet. If an outsider imed to know, it would imply a connection with Arman.
Liu Manqiong felt a twinge of skepticism. She suspected that Charlie’s earlier mentions of roast goose might have been intentional. However, his reasoning seemed sound, easing her doubts.
Considering Charlie’s position as a high-ranking assistant at Yisu Shipping and his background from the maind, it was unlikely he would be aware of developments in Chinatown, USA.
So, she decided to move on and said to Charlie, “If you don’t have a specific destination in mind, let’s start with Tsim Sha Tsui. My ssmates and I have organized a charity bazaar there, and I n to donate the items from the car.”
Charlie nodded, replying, “Sounds good to me.”
