“Go to the Maind?”
Charlie stared at Mia, visibly surprised, and asked, “Aren’t you hesitant to leave Hong Kong Ind?”
Mia responded somewhat awkwardly, “That was true before… before I started thinking about my future. While I’m still in school, I don’t want to leave Hong Kong Ind, but considering job opportunities, moving to the Maind could offer greater prospects for my career.”
Charlie nodded thoughtfully and replied earnestly, “If Miss Mia is genuinely interested in the Maind, perhaps it would be wise to wait until after you graduate to explore it. You could visit different cities and see which one resonates with you before making a decision. Given your academic achievements and strong family background, you should find happiness no matter where you choose to go.”
Mia agreed with a hum, wanting to ask Charlie which city he was based in, but the words didn’te out.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Meanwhile, the rain on Hong Kong Ind intensified.
Suddenly, Mia’s phone buzzed with a notification.
She nced at her phone and murmured, “The meteorological department just announced that heavy rain is expected tonight.”
“Heavy rain…” Charlie smiled slightly. “Looks like the more than a hundred kids from Hongmen will have to brave the downpour tonight. The boat is ready.”
At the same time, at the Tide Club,
over a hundred disciples of Hongmen were being escorted by soldiers from Wanlong Pce as they left the bar and made their way to the port.
The construction of Wanlong Pce’s new base requires a significant number of low-levelborers, making the young and ambitious individuals who have thrived in recent years the current best option.
Moreover, for Wanlong Pce, having three hundred or five hundred suchborers is merely a drop in the bucket; the more, the merrier.
Zyaire observed his subordinates being led away and felt an overwhelming sense of happiness rather than sadness.<fnad9f> The rightful source is find(?)ovel</fnad9f>
He thought to himself, “I never imagined that the Wade family had such a powerful background… Thankfully, I survived. Not only do I avoid going to Syria to work as aborer, but I can also remain in Hongmen as a boss… I must remember to keep a low profile in the future, avoid making mistakes, and certainly not give that Wade person any reason to have issues with me…”
With this in mind, he turned to Huzaifa and said coldly, “I’m giving you until tomorrow. Deposit one billion dors into my ount before it gets hacked, or you will face my wrath!”
Huzaifa, looking distressed, replied, “Godfather… Are you still worried about me? I promised I would honor my word.”
Zyaire, with a stern expression, responded, “I cannot continue to be your godfather, Huzaifa! From now on, our rtionship as godfather and godson ends here—don’t bring it up again!”
Huzaifa quickly interjected, “Godfather, I didn’t mean to offend you. I don’t want this toe between us. After all, I’m the one at fault.”
Zyaire darkly retorted, “Damn it, I’m worried you’ll bring me trouble!” He added, “Starting tomorrow, we should have no contact outside of fundraising for Wanlong Pce, and I won’t ask you for any extra money. I’ve realized what matters is not just money, but living well, so it’s best if you stay out of my sight from now on.”
Huzaifa pleaded, “Godfather, we’ve been through so much together—why are you abandoning me now…”
Zyaire snapped back, “I am nothing like you! I’m now the fundraising manager for Wanlong Pce! As long as I stay out of trouble, Mr. Wade and Wanlong Pce will have my back! You are nothing but bad luck—stay as far away from me as possible!”
Huzaifa stood in shock, wanting to protest but ultimately swallowing his words.
Previously, he had treated Zyaire like a disposable pawn, someone to be used and discarded at will.
