As the full-size Cadic off-road vehicle pulled up to the Hilton Hotel, Charlie realized it was already 8 PM local time.
The driver first retrieved two enormous suitcases from the trunk. These hefty boxes contained Hong Kong Ind specialties that had been lovingly prepared for him by Lau Ka Fai.
Next, the driver lifted out a smaller 20-inch suitcase, which was Charlie’s personal carry-on.
Inside this suitcase, he had also ced the Patek Philippe watch that Mia had gifted him.
Noticing the threerge suitcases, a hotel bellman quickly rolled over a luggage cart, loaded all of Charlie’s bags onto it, and then followed him up to the top floor of the Hilton Hotel.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Meanwhile, ire had just finished dinner with ine.
In the days since ine’s arrival in the United States, she had grown quite familiar with the city of Providence. She could now stroll around and shop independently, even making friends with several local Chinese women.
In just a short span, ine had joined several organizations. She became a member of a square dance group led by a few olderdies, attending dance sessions every evening in downtown parks to the tunes of Phoenix Legend. Additionally, she joined a running groupposed of around 200 men and women who sported matching tracksuits and energetically ran through the streets of Providence.
ine had also created a schedule for herself: dancing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights, running on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights, and taking Sundays off to rx and enjoy life.
Tonight was specifically designated for her to check in with the Rampage team.
After finishing her meal, ine wiped her mouth and addressed ire: “ire, I’m going to change and head out to the running team. Would you like to join me?”
“No thanks…” ire replied, shaking her head. “Charlie arranged a presidential suite with a mini gym. If you want to walk or run, you don’t need to hit the streets with a group, right?”
“You don’t understand,” ine responded earnestly. “The main reason I’m going is for socializing. I’m new here and only know you and Charlie. You’re busy with sses every day, and Charlie is out doing Feng Shui consultations. It feels odd to be cooped up in such arge presidential suite all alone. I’ll be here for more than half a month—if I don’t make some friends, I’ll be bored to tears! Back in Aurous Hill, I could go to a sauna every day. Here, I don’t know anyone, and it’s just so dull…”
ire sighed, “Mom, you’ve only been here a few days, and you’re already finding it boring? If I had known, maybe it would have been better for you to stay in Aurous Hill…”
ine, feeling the loss of her luxurious lifestyle now that she was in Providence, couldn’t help but express her frustration: “I actually think that might be true!”
ire looked at her in surprise, “Mom, are you serious? Do you really want to go back to Aurous Hill?”
ine panicked and quickly backtracked, putting on a serious face: “Who said that? I didn’t mean it! I came to the United States to see you because I missed you. If I went back, I’d just be alone again!”<fn7833> Th? link to the orig?n of this information r?sts ?n find(?)ovel</fn7833>
What ine truly thought was: “I don’t want to go back while you’re here as my mother. The issue is that I’m practically broke right now. I wouldn’t even have money for a taxi to the airport, let alone a ne ticket. Even if you and Charlie bought me a ticket back, I wouldn’t have any funds for food or to fuel that Cullinan…”
ire, unaware of her mother’s internal struggle, said earnestly: “Mom, if you want to stay with us in the U.S., try not to keep saying it’s boring here. The more you say it, the more you’ll dwell on it, and the unhappier you’ll feel.”
“Yes, yes…” ine replied, forcing a smile. “You’re right, Mom understands!”
After saying that, she quickly changed the subject: “Anyway, I need to go get dressed for the Rampage team gathering. Time’s up!”
Just as ine was about to return to her room to change, the doorbell rang unexpectedly.
ine frowned and muttered, “Didn’t I turn on Do Not Disturb? Why are they still knocking? So annoying!”
With that, she moved toward the door, grumbling under her breath…
