Charlie was reluctant to let ine out so soon; after all, he didn’t mind seeing her face every day. Yet, he had to take into ount the feelings of his wife, ire. He had been away from Providence for a while, during which time ire had been attending school and living alone, all while worrying about ine’s situation in prison. It was a challenging time for him.
Even though he was confident he could bring ine out whenever he wanted, ire felt insecure about the whole situation. From her perspective, ine had been wrongfully used, and a single mistake could lead to a life sentence. Until her mother was released from prison, ire couldn’t fully reassure herself.
Wanting to ease ire’s worries, Charlie decided to let ine out the next day and take her back to Providence, hoping this would help ire feel at peace again.
Meanwhile, at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, ine’s mood had soured since meeting James White. Returning to the dining hall, she found herself unable to enjoy even the tomato and egg braised noodles that the guards had prepared for her.
Noticing her distress, a group of fellow inmates inquired, “Sister ine, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
ine shook her head, looking defeated. “It’s nothing, really. You don’t have to worry about me.”
She didn’t want to share that she might be leaving soon, fearing it would spark celebrations among the other inmates. Even those in different cells might privately rejoice at her departure.
So, ine chose to keep quiet, allowing every second she spent in Bedford Hills to be filled with the anxiety that the facility instilled in her. However, to ensure she could remain incarcerated for a few more days, she used the public phone in the yard to call Charlie.
When Charlie picked up, ine hurriedly eximed, “Good son-inw, it’s Mom!”
Charlie responded politely, “Hi Mom, how have you been these past couple of days?”
ine quickly assured him, “I’m fine, really! I just wanted to tell you not to worry about me; I’m doing okay in here.”
Charlie replied, “That’s good to hear. By the way, I heard the person who framed you has been caught. I believe you’ll be out soon.”
ine quickly interjected, “Good son-inw, I need your help with something. Can you talk to your client and see if they can help me postpone my release? I’m not ready to leave just yet…”
Feigning curiosity, Charlie asked, “Mom, why wouldn’t you want to regain your freedom? What’s going on?”
ine hesitated before saying, “Well… I’ve made some friends here, and I really get along with them. I’d like to stay with them a little longer! Charlie, please, you have to help me!”
Charlie responded vaguely, “Alright, I’ll see what I can do, but I can’t guarantee anything.”
ine insisted, “It has to work! If you can’t help me, once I’m out, I’ll just give the guard a good smack and see if they’ll lock me up again!”
Charlie chuckled helplessly, “Okay, okay, I’ll try to find a way to make you happy.”<fnadaa> This content belongs to find·novel</fnadaa>
“That’s more like it!”
After receiving Charlie’s promise, ine hung up the phone, feeling satisfied. However, Charlie had no intention of helping her extend her stay. Instead, he sent a voice message to Abbas, which read, “Abbas, all the people you arranged at Bedford Hills Correctional Institution need to be evacuated. Please ensure their departure ispleted tomorrow at noon.”
Abbas quickly replied, “Understood, Mr. Wade. I will make the necessary arrangements!”
