On the southern edge of the core area stands a cubic structure, reaching a height of approximately 20 meters. This building features a vast hollow section that is transparent from north to south, with a track running through it that is narrower than conventional train tracks.
Through the opening, one can observe a massive lifting mechanism constructed from steel frames, with a steel cable as thick as a baby’s arm hanging in the center.
Abbas introduced to Charlie, “Mr. Wade, this is the main shaft of the underground fortification. It currently extends vertically to a depth of around 120 meters. At this depth, we are excavating horizontally for the first phase of the fortification. The lifting device acts as a cage through which personnel, equipment, and excavated materials are transported.”<fnd6d2> ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? find?novel</fnd6d2>
He gestured toward another simr cubic building in the distance and exined, “That structure is the auxiliary shaft of the underground fortification. In coordination with the main shaft, it primarily manages venttion and drainage for all underground operations.”
Charlie nodded in understanding and remarked, “Given how advanced spy satellites and drones are today, ground facilities can’t even escape detection from Google’s satellites. Therefore, the significance of underground fortifications will only grow.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Abbas quickly responded, “Rest assured, sir. Over 65% of the current infrastructure budget is allocated to underground fortifications. The future designs will not only support the basic living and material storage needs of personnel but also cater to most daily training requirements. We aim to develop a secure energy storage and backup system underground, which will be capable of handling most emergencies.”
At that moment, the lifting device beneath the cubic building raised arge square steel cage.
Interestingly, this steel cage consists of two levels, with the upper level designated for personnel and the lower level for a rail mine car.
Once the steel cage came to a halt, over a dozen men wearing helmets exited from the upper floor and made their way from the second floor to the first floor.
The workers waiting on the first floor then entered the lower section of the steel cage, securing the traction rope to a mine car filled with gravel, before pulling it along the track to a loading and unloading yard located hundreds of meters away. At the opposite end, workers pushed an empty mine car into the steel cage.
Subsequently, the entire steel cage was lowered back underground.
After observing the entire operation, Charlie couldn’t help but frown and expressed, “Abbas, relying on these vertical cages for transporting people and supplies seems inefficient. Each trip amodates only a few dozen individuals or a few tons of goods. Even if each trip takes a few minutes, in an emergency, this efficiency feels inadequate.”
Abbas quickly replied, “Mr. Wade, you are absolutely correct. The current two shafts are merely temporary configurations during the construction phase, and we are still in the early stages of the underground fortifications.”
“However,” he continued, “we n to construct a hub building that will cover an area of over 100,000 square meters on the west side of the airport runway. From this hub, we will excavate a doublene inclined shaft that allows vehicles to enter and exit directly.”
“This inclined shaft will connect the surface of the building to the underground fortifications, resembling a steep tunnel. Oncepleted, personnel, vehicles, and equipment will be able to move freely up and down, significantly increasing overall turnover speed. The convenience will beparable to ground operations.”
Charlie nodded and inquired, “How many workers are currently operating in the mine at once?”
Abbas responded, “We are currently elerating progress at any cost, so counting all types of work in the mine, there are approximately five to six hundred people working simultaneously.”
Charlie then asked, “By the way, what are the Sicilian mafia members we brought back from Canada doing now?” Abbas exined, “The underground fortification has been established. Our regr construction team works three shifts a day for eight hours each, while these mafia teams work two shifts for twelve hours a day. Since they are a bunch of criminals, we don’t adhere strictly toborws for them, as long as they don’t overexert themselves.”
Charlie chuckled, “With over 800 Sicilian elites—considering their backgrounds in violence and crime—working underground for twelve hours straight should be a walk in the park for them.” He then asked, “And what about those Hongmen disciples?”
Abbas smiled and said, “Mr. Wade, they haven’t arrived yet.” Charlieughed softly, acknowledging the long journey from Hong Kong Ind. If it takes more than 20 days, that’s certainly understandable. Just then, the doubleyered cage was lifted again, and as the iron gate on the upper level opened, Hunter (Hamid) emerged, donning a red helmet and nked by several soldiers from the Wanlong Temple. Charlie recognized him immediately and called out, “Hasling!”
Hunter (Hamid) looked over at Charlie, his belly noticeably rounder.
Spotting Charlie, he beamed and shouted, “Oh, Mr. Wade, brother Wade!” He quickly approached Charlie.
Rushing up to Charlie, Hunter (Hamid) sped his hand joyfully, panting slightly, and asked, “Brother Wade, when did you arrive?”
“Just got here,” Charlie replied with a slight smile, ncing at Hunter’s expanded waistline. He joked, “Brother, it seems you’ve put on quite a bit of weighttely. Life must be treating you well.”
Hunter (Hamid) chuckled, raising his hands in a gesture of thanks, “Bless you, brother! Now that the war is over, my days consist of sleeping and eating well. With good food and restful nights, how could I not gain weight?” After that, he pointed at the main shaft behind him, expressing admiration, “Brother, your underground fortifications are incredibly well constructed! The tunnels are three to four meters high. Compared to yours, my underground fortifications are just a mouse hole!”
Charlieughed and reassured him, “Don’t worry, once construction here is nearlyplete, I’ll have Abbas coordinate the upgrades for you.”
Hunter (Hamid) trembled with excitement at this, asking eagerly, “Brother, are you serious?”
Charlie nodded with a smile, “Of course! When have I ever lied to you?”
Then, Charlie added, “Did you see those hard-working Sicilian elites down there just now?”
“Sicilian elites?” Hunter (Hamid) asked with curiosity, “You mean the Canadian mafia working below?”
“Yes,” Charlie confirmed, smiling, “They will also be sent to you in due time!”<h3 ss="has-text-align-center wp-block-heading" id="chapter-list"><strong>Next Chapter</strong>
