“Not only have you heard of it,” the old man said with a serious tone. “I have a connection with the Wade family. Their ancestral home isn’t too far from here; you can reach it by walking for about half an hour. The Wade family is one of the top three families in China. Bruce Wade was the most distinguished member of the family in his time. His wife, Lydia (also known as Ava, Charlie’s mom), was a prominent investor in nearly the entire Silicon Valley. Additionally, the An family, associated with Lydia (Ava), ranks second in the United States.”
“I understand!” Lin Wan’er (ni) nodded thoughtfully and remarked, “No wonder the name Lydia (Ava) (Charlie’s mom) sounds so familiar; I believe I’ve read a biography about her.”
As she spoke, Lin Wan’er (ni) nced at a ck-and-white photo of Charlie taken before he started first grade. She added seriously, “I think this child bears some resemnce to the Charlie I’m searching for. Given that they share the same name, it’s quite likely that he is the one.”
“That seems unlikely,” the old man interjected instinctively. “Twenty years ago, Bruce Wade and Lydia (Ava) (Charlie’s mom) had an ident in Aurous Hill, leading to both of their deaths. Their eight-year-old son, Charlie, disappeared, and despite the efforts of the Wade and An families to locate him over the years, there has been no trace. Both families are incredibly powerful, particrly the An family. If he’s still alive, they would surely find him.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) responded earnestly, “If, as you mentioned, Charlie’s identity is concealed using a second method, it might be impossible for anyone to discover his whereabouts. His wealth wouldn’t help either; there could be minimal information avable.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Upon hearing Lin Wan’er’s analysis, the old man nodded in agreement, saying, “Miss, you’re correct; such a possibility does exist!”
Suddenly, Lin Wan’er had an idea. She pointed to the Eastcliff local ID number associated with the eight-year-old Charlie and said, “By the way, didn’t you mention that if it’s the second encryption method, we could retrieve the encrypted information using both the name and the ID number? Please look up Charlie’s name and add this ID number to see if we can find any results.”
“Sure!” The old man felt a surge of excitement as he immediately opened a background program on hisptop, entering Charlie’s name and original ID number.
With hopeful anticipation, the two awaited the results, only to find that the system still disyed the missing file for the eight-year-old Charlie.
Lin Wan’er (ni) frowned in confusion. “Why can’t we find anything? Is it possible that someone has given him a new identity?”
After saying this, she pondered aloud, “That must be it!”
Lin Wan’er (ni) was correct. After cing Charlie in the orphanage, Stephen Thompson had indeed assigned him a new identity. Although he still went by the name Charlie, he was no longer the same eight-year-old from the Wade family in Eastcliff. Instead, he became a boy without parents, known as Charlie, adopted by the Aurous Hill Welfare Institute.
His registration was under the collective household of the Aurous Hill Welfare Institute, amon practice for all children adopted from the orphanage.
This meant he now possessed a new ID number, one specifically belonging to Aurous Hill.
Consequently, neither the Wade family nor the An family could ever locate him again; only Stephen Thompson would be able to find him.
Regarding this matter, the old man remarked, “If someone did change his identity, the previous information would definitely be unrecoverable. You would need to know his new name and ID number to find him.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) frowned again and said, “What if someone helped him settle in another location, creating foreign ounts and identity information elsewhere? In that case, his actual encrypted identity would not be the one he had before going missing, but rather the new identity he assumed afterward.”
At this point, Lin Wan’er (ni) continued, “I see it now… Twenty years ago, after Charlie disappeared, someone concealed him, provided him with a new identity, and buried the records of that new identity. Thus, the original Charlie vanished at eight years old, and a new ‘Charlie’—or perhaps a Charlie under another name—emerged in a different ce. Besides that person, no one else could track him down.”
The old man hesitated briefly before saying, “Miss, I’m not entirely convinced that the Charlie you’re looking for is indeed this Charlie! What if the person you seek just happens to resemble another Charlie? After all, children’s features can change significantly as they grow, and it’s entirely normal for them to bear some resemnce to one another.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) nodded thoughtfully, acknowledging, “You’re right. While my intuition tells me that the Charlie I’m searching for is indeed the one who disappeared twenty years ago, relying solely on childhood resemnce to confirm the truth is somewhat reckless.”
With a new idea in mind, she brightened up and said, “By the way, could you help me retrieve the file information for Bruce Wade and Lydia (Ava) (Charlie’s mom)? I’d like to see any official documents that remain in China after her marriage to Bruce Wade.”
“Of course,” Lin Wan’er (ni) said, “I just need a photograph of the two of them.”
“No problem.” The old man quickly searched the system for Bruce Wade and Lydia (Ava) (Charlie’s mom) and retrieved their information.
When Lin Wan’er (ni)id eyes on the striking ck-and-white ID photo of Bruce Wade, her worried expression instantly melted away!<fnd3f8> Discover more novels at Find1Novel</fnd3f8>
She couldn’t contain her excitement, pping her hands and eximing, “Haha, my instincts were right! It truly is him! The Charlie I’m searching for looks almost identical to this Bruce Wade!”
