After finishing his speech, Christopher bitterly remarked, “That’s fine. The main incident happened in the hospital back then, and everyone was aware of it, so I’m left with no face!”
“Lan, that jerk, hangs dozens of green hats on her balcony. This is just meant to humiliate me. You say I’ve lost all my dignity—how can I possibly give your mother any respect?” Harold sighed.
“Hey… Dad, let’s be fair. If we’re discussing this, I don’t think we can put all the me on Mom. If you two hadn’t teamed up to deceive ine, Charlie wouldn’t have sent her to the ck coal mine. You both should have faced the consequences, but instead, you hid and let Mom deal with Charlie alone. Didn’t she suffer for you? After everything she’s done for you, how can you still look down on her? Can you really me her for being angry with you?”
Feeling downcast, Harold continued, “I wish I had understood this sooner. If I had realized it earlier, I would have never treated my mother coldly like you both did.”
Christopher snapped back, “Harold, I see what you’re doing. You just want to get back in your mother’s good graces.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Harold quickly replied, “That’s not true! I’m just trying to help; I’m not looking for any favoritism!”
“Oh, please!” Christopher scoffed. “I know you too well. You’ve always been the type to favor whoever feeds you! Don’t think that just because ine has money, you can call her ‘Mom’ too!”
Harold shot back angrily, “Dad, that’s insulting! I’m being objective here. None of this is Mom’s fault; you need to reflect on your own actions!”
“Go to your uncle!” Christopher yelled, “You’re just an ungrateful wretch!”
Harold quickly countered, “This is purely a matter of mindset. If you looked at it objectively, you’d see I’m right!”
“Just like your uncle!” Christopher sneered. “I know exactly what kind of scoundrel you are!”
“Oh, Dad…”
“Don’t call me Dad! Get out of my sight!” Christopher shouted.<fn99d3> This text is hosted at find?novel</fn99d3>
Harold, feeling a surge of anger, replied sullenly, “You’re so stubborn! You can yell at me now, but mark my words, if you don’t change your attitude in the future, you won’t benefit from any of the money Mom earns!”
He continued, “Don’t forget, Mom mentioned today that your script has you getting pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is quick; people can be gone in a month. That means, in a month or two at the most, you won’t be needed in Mom’s livestream anymore. If you haven’t satisfied her by then, you’ll really regret it!”
Hearing this, Christopher felt a wave of panic wash over him.
Though he was frustrated by the harsh words and even the physical confrontations, he couldn’t help but consider what Harold had just said. If Souna truly decided to cut him off financially, wouldn’t all of this humiliation be for nothing? Moreover, if she stopped supporting him, it could end up being even worse!
With these thoughts swirling in his mind, he resolved, “It looks like I’ll have to figure out a way to get along with Souna moving forward. As for my pride, I guess it’ll have to take a back seat for now.”
Just as he finished contemting this, there was a knock at the door, and a voice called from outside, “Is this Christopher, Harold’s family?”
