Seeing Charlie’s confident demeanor, Lin Wan’er (ni) felt a wave of relief wash over her.
She then nced at the clock and inquired, “Young Master, it’s nearly eight o’clock. When do you n to head home?”
Charlie replied, “My father-inw usually departs for the Painting and Calligraphy Association around nine, and that’s quite close to my house. Miss Lin, you don’t need to see me off; the helicopter tends to be quite noisy downtown, so I can manage on my own.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) insisted, “Master, I can’t let you go back by yourself. I’d prefer to drive you home with my family’s vehicle.”
Charlie quickly responded, “Really, it’s not necessary to trouble yourself; I can go back by myself.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Lin Wan’er (ni) said softly, “If you leave like this and the servants see you leaving the ve’s courtyard early in the morning, they might form the wrong impression about the ve’s household.”
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Charlie asked, “What does Miss Lin think would be appropriate?”
Lin Wan’er (ni) replied, “My lord, please wait a moment while I make arrangements with my servant.”
Charlie nodded and said, “Then I’ll leave it to you, Miss Lin.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) smiled with delight and quickly replied, “My lord, just a moment; I’ll inform you shortly.”
She then picked up her phone, made a call, and said, “Old Zhang, pleasee up here.”
Once she hung up, Charlie curiously asked, “Is Old Zhang the same person you referred to as Grandpa in Northern Europe?”
“Please forgive me,” Lin Wan’er (ni) exined, “I had to im that Old Zhang was the grandfather of my family to avoid suspicion back then…”
Charlie waved his hand dismissively, still curious, “So, he’s actually your adopted orphan, right?”
“Yes,” Lin Wan’er (ni) confirmed with a nod. “Last night, I shared with the young master that Old Zhang and the other two elderly gentlemen residing here were orphans adopted by my family many years ago.” Charlie couldn’t help but ask, “Doesn’t it hurt to watch them grow from babies to old age?”
“Not at all,” Lin Wan’er (ni) replied calmly. “Everyone has their own destiny. Since my family has lived for over three hundred years, we naturally view everything with a sense of detachment.”
Charlie nodded slightly, though he still struggled to grasp that feeling.
A few minutester, an elderly man arrived at Lin Wan’er (ni)’s courtyard, gently knocking on the door as he announced, “Miss, the old ve is here.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) called out, “Come in.”
The door opened, and the old man stepped inside, only to be taken aback when he saw Charlie sitting in the teacher’s chair.
Though he didn’t recall meeting Charlie in Northern Europe, he had read about him and recognized that he was the benefactor who had rescued both thedy and the servants during that time.
After a brief moment of surprise, Old Zhang quickly bowed respectfully and said, “Old ve Zhang Decai, I greet Mr. Charlie! Thank you for saving my life!”
Seeing the elderly man bow, Charlie quickly stood up and replied, “Old man, you’re too kind. It was just a small effort; there’s no need to make a fuss over it!”
Lin Wan’er (ni) added, “Old Zhang is my housekeeper and has always been by my side; there’s no need for such formality. Just treat him as your servant.”
Upon hearing Lin Wan’er (ni) refer to him as a servant, Old Zhang appeared excited rather than upset, asking eagerly, “Miss… have you shared everything about yourself with Mr. Charlie?”
Realizing what had happened the previous night, Lin Wan’er’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she replied awkwardly, “I’ve been honest with Mr. Charlie and shared everything from the past three hundred years. From now on, you all don’t need to hide anything in front of Mr. Charlie, understood?”<fn1dea> Read full story at ?ovelFind</fn1dea>
Old Zhang nodded enthusiastically, saying, “Miss, don’t worry; this old ve understands! This old ve understands!”
As he spoke, he couldn’t help but nce at Charlie, adding in an excited tone, “Mr. Charlie, I dare say you are the only outsider who has truly opened up to the Miss in over three hundred years…”<h3 ss="has-text-align-center wp-block-heading" id="chapter-list"><strong></strong>
