In that moment, Chen Zhimin was overwhelmed with a profound sense of fear.
His father and grandfather had toiled tirelessly to dismantle the Qing Dynasty, and he had the chance to be a “schr”.
To distinguish himself among the multitude of schrs, he immersed himself in countless books and faced adversity since childhood. Over the years, he had navigated through numerous challenges and reached remarkable heights.
Now, however, he found himself at the mercy of Charlie Wade, and it seemed that most of Charlie’s family had resolved to end his life, plunging him into a despair that felt as if he were on the brink of death.
His overwhelming will to survivepelled him to plead, “Charlie… Given your knowledge of the Qing Dynasty’s hidden truths, you must also be aware of the grim fates that befall people like us. If circumstances hadn’t forced me, I wouldn’t have aligned myself with tyrants or the Po Qing Society. I implore you, considering that I am married to your aunt and we share a bond as husband and wife, please spare my life! If you let me live, I will serve as your informant within the Po Qing Society. I will ry their every move to you without dy. I am willing to do whatever you require of me. This would give me an opportunity to atone for my past mistakes—far better than facing death. I just want to survive!”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Charlie Wade responded with a smile, “You and my aunt are supposed to be allies. She set a trap in New York that led to the attempt on my grandfather’s family. Surely, you must have been aware of this. Why haven’t you considered that you and my aunt are husband and wife? Why haven’t you realized that my grandfather treated you like his own son and showed you kindness beyond measure?”
For a moment, Chen Zhimin was left speechless.
He certainly knew about those events.
Realizing he could not hide the truth, he broke down and exined, “Charlie, the British were the ones who sought the lives of your grandparents and their entire family. We were merely following orders. Your aunt and I were both pawns destined to be sacrificed. The only reason I wasn’t with you at that time was that the British Master believed that after annihting the An family, they would need someone suitable to inherit their property. Being a male, I was deemed more suitable than your aunt, which is why I was allowed to stay.”
Charlie Wade nodded and said, “Regardless of the circumstances, you chose to be loyal to Sara amid the threat to the An family’s lives. For that alone, it would be a shame for you to die!”
Chen Zhimin quickly urged, “Charlie, please spare my life. Keeping me alive would benefit you immensely! If I remain within the Po Qing Society as an undercover agent, I can do so much for you. If I die, it would be a tremendous loss for you and the An family!”
Charlie Wade replied with a smile, “So you wish to stay? You want to be my undercover agent in the Po Qing Society, but have you considered whether Sara would approve?”
Chen Zhimin replied, somewhat confused, “If you don’t tell me, and I don’t tell you, how would Sara ever find out?”
Charlie Wade smirked and said, “You’re unaware, aren’t you? Sara is already en route to New York.”
“What?!” Chen Zhimin eximed in shock. “Wait… Sara ising to New York?!”
“Yes,” Charlie Wade confirmed with a nod. “I intend to eliminate Uncle Sean before Sara arrives. If Uncle Sean is dead and you are the only one left, Sara will surelye to you for answers.”
In a panic, Chen Zhimin extended his right hand earnestly, saying, “Don’t worry, I won’t say a word. Not a single word!”<fn4f93> Discover more novels at find[?]ovel</fn4f93>
Charlie Wade sneered, “While Uncle Sean may not be adept at psychological maniption, Sara is exceptionally skilled. She will find a way to extract every detail from you. Instead of risking you revealing my secrets to her, it might be wiser to eliminate you too and provide Sara with an even bigger surprise!”
Chen Zhimin was filled with terror and eximed, “You can’t do this… that’s just inhumane!”
Charlie Wade retorted, “When dealing with individuals like you, thest thing we need is… humanity.”
With that, Charlie Wade fixed his gaze on Chen Zhimin, channeling a surge of energy into his mind, and coldlymanded, “Chen Zhimin, from this moment forward, you will answer every question I pose without hesitation; you willply with my every instruction without question! Do you understand?!”
