Steve Hogwitz quickly interjected, “Sir… let me exin… my son was momentarily confused…”
He proceeded to describe how Walter had fallen for Doris Young and the people associated with her. The Emgrand Group borated on how they had poisoned Doris Young’s father, leading to his kidney failure and subsequent death, and how they had used kidneys as leverage to coerce Doris into submission.
With Charlie Wade present, Steve felt he had no choice but to bepletely honest.
After Steve finished exining, Charlie Wade couldn’t help but scoff: “You are truly a shameless individual. It’s clear from your own words that your son’s despicable actions were intentional and premeditated. You act as if he was just momentarily confused—was this confusion really a month-long ordeal?”
Steve Hogwitz, trembling with fear, quickly corrected himself: “Mr. Wade is absolutely right. I misspoke. My son is indeed a scoundrel. Everything he did has been nned for quite some time…”<fn134d> For original chapters go to </fn134d><h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
He hastily continued, “Mr. Wade, please don’t worry. We are more than willing to apologize to Ms. Wang and her family and providepensation. All we ask is for a chance to seek their forgiveness…”
Charlie Wade replied with sarcasm, “You have a unique way with words. It sounds so granding from you. Are you implying that this situation only concerns you, Doris Young, and her family? That as long as you can secure their forgiveness, everything else should be forgotten?”
While Steve Hogwitz did indeed think this way, he wouldn’t dare admit it openly.
Instead, he adopted an aggrieved expression and said, “Mr. Wade, you’ve misunderstood my intentions. I didn’t mean to suggest that it has nothing to do with you. I simply hope for the opportunity to apologize to Ms. Wang and her father, and to earn their forgiveness through my actions…”
Charlie Wade looked calmly at Steve Rothschild beside him and said, “You can me me for misjudging you, but you all are truly despicable. Just look at how he speaks—are we really anything like you?”
Having heard the earlier exchange, Steve felt a sinking feeling in his chest. Seeing that Walter’s father was still oblivious to the seriousness of the situation, he realized that there was no chance of extricating this man from their predicament.
Though Steve didn’t know Charlie Wade well, he understood that anyone who dared to provoke him would not escape unscathed.
Walter, who hadmitted such a heinous act, was fortunate to still be alive, given Charlie Wade’s reputation.
Lost in his thoughts, Steve Hogwitz suddenly knelt before Charlie, pleading: “Sir! Please, say something! My son and I have been enduring torturous conditions here. Please, for the sake of our family, help us escape this nightmare! My son has made a mistake, but he should be dealt with by the police, not left to suffer like this…”
Steve Rothschild looked at the pitiful figure before him, furious at the audacity of the man. He thought, “How can you shamelessly ask for my help after what your son has done? I only asked Charlie Wade to intercede on your behalf, and now I’m sure he’ll resent me for it!”
At that moment, Walter, lying on the hospital bed, struggled to rise and crawled toward the door like a half-dead creature, begging, “Sir… please… help us… please…”
Walter’s father, witnessing this, clung to Steve’s leg and cried, “Steve, please! We are family! Blood is thicker than water! Our lives depend on you!”
In response to this scene, Steve Rothschild lost his temperpletely. He raised his hand and pped Walter’s father across the face, shouting angrily, “You disgraceful scoundrel! Who do you think you are? You don’t deserve to share the same name as me!”
