While Charlie waited at the airport for ire, Jacob and ine had already been taken in by the high-speed traffic police team.
ine, in a state of frantic distress, didn’t forget to greet Jacob as they rode in the police car. The situation escted to the point where the police had to call for another vehicle to transport the two of them back separately.
As Charlie noticed that ire’s ne was about tond, he realized he hadn’t seen Jacob or ine. He sent messages to both, but received no replies. He was left wondering what mischief these two were up to.
Fortunately, Charlie’s impression of Jacob and ine wasn’t very reliable, so he didn’t stress about their absence. He figured that when they eventually showed up, everyone would just share a ride back to the city. If they didn’t make it, he would simply go back with ire in a taxi.
At around three in the afternoon, ire’s private ne touched down at the airport. After waiting for about half an hour, Charlie saw her finallyplete customs and emerge, pushing a luggage trolley.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
As soon as ire caught sight of Charlie, she quickened her pace, beaming with happiness.
Charlie rushed to meet her, and just as he got close, ire tossed her bag aside, leaped into his arms, and yfully eximed, “Husband, I’ve missed you so much!”
Charlie embraced her warmly and replied with a smile, “I missed you too! Thankfully, Miss Fei’s project hit a snag; otherwise, I would have flown to the United States to seek her help.”
ire chuckled and said, “Miss Fei asked me to let you know she feels quite embarrassed about me helping her for so long. The next time she visits China, she’ll treat you to dinner as a thank-you.”
“That sounds great,” Charlie replied with a grin. “By the way, my parents had originally nned to pick you up, but I haven’t been able to reach them for quite a while. How about we just take a taxi back to the city?”
“You haven’t been able to contact them?” ire asked, a hint of worry in her voice. “What if something happened? We should check to make sure they’re okay before heading back.”
Charlie reassured her, “I doubt anything is wrong. They were bickering at home before I left, so it’s likely just another argument.”
ire nodded, a resigned look on her face. “It’s true; they have a minor spat every three days and a big one every five. Their bickering never seems to end.”
With that, ire picked up her phone and said, “I’ll call Mom and ask. If everything’s fine, we can take a taxi.”
“That sounds like a good idea,” Charlie agreed. “It’s definitely safer to find out directly.”
ire then dialed ine’s number.
Meanwhile, ine was being isted and reprimanded by the traffic police.
There were two separate rooms: one for Jacob and one for ine.
ine, frustrated and angry, eximed, “Officer, the one who illegally parked on the highway is that idiot Jacob! What does that have to do with me? He’s already in custody! If you want to arrest or punish him, go ahead; I just need to get to the airport to pick up my daughter!”
The traffic officer replied, somewhat exasperated, “If you don’t stop people from parking, how can they avoid doing it on the highway? Technically, both of you share some me here.”
He continued, “Regarding this situation, our main goal is to deduct points and impose fines. It’s more about education than punishment. There’s no reason for detention or anything extreme. Jacob needs to understand that no matter the circumstances, parking on the highway—especially in the passingne—is extremely dangerous. He should have pulled over in the emergencyne with his hazard lights on and ced a warning triangle 100 meters behind his vehicle.”<fn46ce> Find the newest release on Find?Novel</fn46ce>
