Since both Hank and Matilda were tying the knot for the second time and had spent many years living abroad, their wedding nning was much simpler than the traditional local Chinese procedures.
Rather than following a formal wedding process, they chose to greet their guests at the hotel and hold the ceremony at a chosen auspicious moment.
The guest list was kept intimate. Besides their children and close friends, a few of Hank’s colleagues from Aurous Hill University of Finance and Economics were also invited.
Charlie Wade, serving as the witness, had a minimal role, mainly acting as the host.
So, the following morning, Charlie Wade donned a suit and made his way to Shangri-La.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
The reason he opted to carry his suit rather than wear it was simply to keep his wife, Xiao Churan, unaware that he was attending Matilda’s wedding.
Upon arriving at the Sky Garden of Shangri-La, he found that it was still early, and Hank was preupied with the staff.<fnc9b9> Updates are released by f?ndnovel</fnc9b9>
Spotting Charlie Wade, Hank approached him and expressed gratitude, saying, “Charlie Wade, thank you foring so early and for all your hard work.”
Noticing Hank appeared a bit weary, Charlie Wade asked with concern, “Didn’t Uncle Hank manage to get a good night’s sleep?”
Hank nodded, letting out a sigh, and replied, “Paul’s uncle caused quite a stir at homest night, leaving Aunt Matilda and me utterly exhausted.”
Charlie Wade inquired, “Why did Paul’s unclee all the way from the United States at such a critical time? What trouble is he causing you?”
Hank exined, “He intends to separate the Smith Law Firm’s business in the United States from Paul. To put it bluntly, he’s here to divide the family assets.”
Frowning, Charlie Wade responded, “Since the Smith Law Firm was established by Paul’s father and Aunt Matilda, what right does Paul’s uncle have to im a share?”
Hank sighed again, saying, “That’s a valid point, but when they founded the firm, Paul’s grandfather provided initial funding and connections, considering it an angel investment. Now, Paul’s uncle believes that with Paul moving away, he’s abandoned the Smith family. Additionally, with Aunt Matilda starting a new life with me, he feels Paul shouldn’t take the entire Smith Law Firm with him, and he wants a portion of the American assets returned to the Smith family.”
Curiously, Charlie Wade asked, “What is the main business of the Smith family? Are they in decline?”
Hank replied, “From what Aunt Matilda told me, the Steve family has a strong legal background. Paul’s grandfather was a well-knownwyer who, despite his expertise, didn’t start a firm himself. Instead, he became a senior partner at a prestigious Americanw firm and served as a private attorney for various celebrities and politicians. Paul’s uncle followed a simr career path, but the older man passed away a few years ago.”
Charlie Wade nodded in understanding, remarking, “It seems the family may have fallen on hard times and is trying to gain some advantages from Aunt Matilda and Paul. You shouldn’t pay him too much mind. Since he’s here now, just invite him to the wedding. After the ceremony, you and Aunt Matilda can enjoy your honeymoon, and he can do as he pleases. Simply ignore him.”
Hank agreed, saying, “Aunt Matilda and I n to do just that for now, but if he refuses to leave, Paul might end up with a headache. I doubt he’ll be easily sent away this time.”
With a reassuring smile, Charlie Wade said, “It’s alright, Uncle Hank. This is Aurous Hill, not the U.S. The infamous Steve Rothschild is here, so he should show us some respect. Besides, he’s a minor yer; if he dares to make a scene, there will be consequences.”
Then Charlie Wade asked, “Did you and Aunt Matilda extend an invitation to him for the wedding?”
Hank replied, “I didn’t want to invite him, as he’s clearly here to stir up trouble. Inviting him would be like weing a wolf into our home. However, out of courtesy, we have to invite him. He came because he heard about the wedding; even if we didn’t invite him, he would likely show up uninvited. Paul arranged for him to stay at Shangri-Last night, so he’ll probably arrive this morning. I fear he may try to cause trouble when he does.”
Charlie Wade nodded, “Let hime. If he tries to act out, there will be plenty of people here to handle him.”
