At this moment, Charlie Wade and ire found themselves at the entrance of Shangri-La.
ire’s media friend was a reporter from a local newspaper in Aurous Hill, and interestingly, she was also a ssmate from middle school. Although the newspaper had the capacity to send four staff members to the press conference, it was struggling financially and could not afford extra reporters. As a result, the newspaper decided to allocate the extra spot to ire.
When Charlie Wade arrived, he noticed ire’s ssmate, who was a reporter, standing beside her. With a friendly smile, she turned to ire and asked, “ire, is this your husband?”
ire nodded and introduced them: “Ningning, I’d like you to meet my husband, Charlie Wade.”
Then, addressing Charlie Wade, she continued, “Husband, this is Yohana, my high school ssmate who now works as the chief reporter for Aurous Hill Morning News.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Yohana waved her hands dismissively and joked, “Oh, don’t tter me, ire! Chief reporter? Our newspaper only has two full-time reporters, and we’re both ‘chiefs’—there’s no other position avable. At this rate, we might close down soon, and they won’t even need a chief reporter!”
ire was taken aback and asked, “Is the performance of your Morning News that bad?”
“It’s worse than bad,” Yohana replied. “Not many people read newspapers these days, and our cirction in Aurous Hill is quite low. As readership declines, our situation only worsens. Larger newspapers can partner with government agencies, railways, civil aviation, and long-distance transport services, which guarantees fixed purchases and cirction. This, in turn, leads to advertising ie. We don’t have those options—no one wants to buy ads from us, and our ie is nearly non-existent. If things keep going like this, we’ll likely stop publication within a year.”
ire tried to encourage her, saying, “It’s alright. Traditional print media is experiencing a downturn. You could consider transitioning to new media. I’ve seen many journalists and hosts from traditional media set up their own ounts on short video tforms. Once they gain a following, their ie can be quite substantial.”
Yohana smiled and exined, “We would love to do that, but I’m still employed and can’t start a self-media ount. Ourpany has rules stating that any self-media ounts created during employment belong to thepany. Let’s revisit this topic after I leave.”
ire suggested, “In the meantime, you could use your free time to brainstorm content ideas for your short videos. It would be great if you could draft some scripts to have ready when you do start.”
Yohana looked surprised and said, “ire, how do you know so much about short videos? We should definitely have a detailed discussion about this if the opportunity arises—you could offer me some valuable insights.”
ire modestly replied, “I’ve just picked up a few things from others; I don’t have any hands-on experience myself.”<fn1b1f> The source of th?s content is find?novel</fn1b1f>
Yohana grinned and said, “After the press conference, I’ll head back to the station to write my report. If you and your husband are free this evening, I’d love to treat you both to dinner so we can chat more.”
ire responded, “Actually, we should treat you! We owe you our gratitude for helping us attend this event today.”
With a smile, Yohana said, “Well, let me be honest. Our team leader is away on a business trip and couldn’t make it. They specifically asked me to find two additional people to fill the four slots. I didn’t want my colleagues to think we couldn’t even gather four people at Aurous Hill Morning News. I really appreciate your help in rounding up the attendees. Plus, thepany will reimburse us for dinner tonight. I told my leader that finding someone to fill the spots was fine, but we should at least provide a meal. They agreed, so I’ll just submit an invoice for reimbursementter.”
As she said this, Yohana started to open up further…
