“That’s fine.” Tawana grinned. “Since you’re busy at noon, juste over in the afternoon. We’ll use that time to go over the parts where you and I interact, then you can head off when needed.”
Stefanie sun nodded gently. “Alright! We’lle after lunch.”
Tawana turned to charlie Wade with a smile. “Mr. Wade, you should take some time to listen to the song Assassin. I went through it with the trantion, and I found the lyrics quite moving.”
charlie Wade rarely listened to music and never actively sought out songs.
As for concerts, he had only ever attended two in his entire life—those of the two women standing in front of him, Tawana and Stefanie sun.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Since Assassin was one of Stefanie sun’s songs, charlie Wade figured he should take the time to listen to it carefully and make up for not knowing it well.
He couldn’t even remember whether he had heard it at herst concert.<fnc258> This text is hosted at FindN0vel</fnc258>
Reflecting on his experiences at Stefanie sun’s concerts, he found both asions quite eventful.
The first time was in Jinling, where he had been on edge, worried that Stefanie sun might confess to him on stage.
The second time was in New York. He had simply wanted to enjoy her concert but unexpectedly found himself caught in an assassination attempt on his grandparents.
On the way back, charlie Wade connected his phone to the business car’s Bluetooth and listened to Assassin in its entirety.
He had to admit that the song, with its ancient Chinese style, had a beautifully poetic feel. Its overall tone even reminded him of Jay Chou’s Fireworks Are Cold.
What stood out, however, was that unlike many songs that deliberately create tragic narratives to evoke sympathy, Assassin had a happy ending.
While Fireworks Are Cold tells the sorrowful tale of a woman who dies waiting for her lover’s return, Assassin unfolds in three parts: the love story between the woman and the assassin, the assassin’s chivalrous journey filled with passion and bloodshed, and finally, his triumphant return to reunite with his beloved.
Comparing the two, charlie Wade found himself preferring Assassin and its fulfilling conclusion. He had always favored stories with happy endings, whether in songs or movies.
Noticing that he had yed the song multiple times, Stefanie sun smiled and asked, “Brother charlie Wade, what do you think of it?”
Without hesitation, charlie Wade praised, “It’s excellent—I really like it. A perfect ending is rare in songs these days. It’s refreshing to hear one that isn’t about heartbreak, secret love, or unrequited devotion.”
Stefanie sun smiled and said, “I didn’t think much about this song before, but after finding you, I’ve grown to love it more and more. To me, you’re just like the assassin in the song. Even though you were away from me for so many years, you’ve been fighting to avenge your parents, uphold justice, and protect the innocent. So, I’m looking forward to the day you eliminate all the bad guys and finally return to me.”
charlie Wade was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected the song to hold such a deep meaning for Stefanie sun.
Thinking it over, he realized that, in some ways, their story did resemble the song’s poetic narrative.
With a sigh, he looked at Stefanie sun and said, “Stefanie, since this song means so much to you, I’ll do everything I can to perform it with you.”
Stefanie sun nodded enthusiastically and said excitedly, “Brother charlie Wade, Tawana has four concerts in Eastcliff—you have to perform with me all four times!”
charlie Wade smiled and reassured her, “Don’t worry. Since I’ve given you my word, I won’t go back on it!”
