Zephyrine
Jurrek had wished me good night, but I doubted there would be anything good about this night..

Riding with Moon turned out to be harder than I imagined. I couldn’t shake the feeling of how close he sat, or the way he kept sneaking nces at me when he thought I wouldn’t notice.
When the carriage finally stopped in front of Hue Pack, I stepped down gently. Moon followed right after.
I shoulde with you, help you pack,” he offered.
“It’s not much,” I said with a small smile. “Stay here. I’ll be out soon.”
I walked through the gates alone, the night air biting into my exposed neck. As soon as I stepped in, the pack members bustling with their night tasks froze and turned to stare.
“Yes, They said she caught the king’s attention.”
Murmurs filled the courtyard, but I ignored them.
I made my way through the hall, where people shifted aside.
The same people who used to mock me. Who whispered that I was a rogue.
1 gave them nothing, no nce, no words, and stepped into the living room. Pam and Olivia sat stiffly on the couch, ring but they said nothing.
They only stare at me in silence and for that, I was grateful. I had no energy left for another fight
I headed to my chamber. I had no business in this pack anymore.
But just as I entered the corridor, I heard a moan. Low, unmistakable, and it brought me to a halt.
Heat coiled low in my stomach, but not from arousal. From betrayal.
I crept toward Nyroth’s chamber. The door was cracked open, and I knew in my bones it wasn’t by mistake. He wanted me to see. They all wanted me to see it.
Clothes were scattered across the floor and Ka was pinned to the wall, Nyroth’s hands gripping her thighs, his hips. mming into her.
I went ice–cold. The air vanished from my lungs.
Without thinking, I turned and bolted into my chamber, breathing hard.
A cheat. At broad nightlight. Not even the decency to wait until the mate bond was broken.
Damn it all.
I spun toward my wardrobe and began throwing clothes into a bag. I reached for my shoes just as footsteps echoed in the hallway.
The door creaked open. I felt him before I heard his voice. He has finished already?
“Where are you packing to! Apex’s?” Nyroth asked, his voiceced with venom.
didn’t answer. I reached for the drawer where the small chest was kept. But before I could touch it, he grabbed my wrist and whirled me around, forcing eye contact
“I asked you a question, Zephyrine,” he growled. “Where are you going?”
stared at him, breathing hard. He’d done it. He’d actually done it. I had long suspected his obsession with Ka, but this

“This isn’t your first time making love to her, is it?” I asked, voice low, “Answer me, Nyroth. This wasn’t the first time you’ve been thrusting into her, was it?”
“And you care?”
My heart plummeted.
His words were knives. I sank onto the bed, pale and stunned, betrayal washing over me in cold waves.
While I had been here, in this pack, ving for him, supporting him in silence, hoping for a nce, a kiss, a hand to hold, he had been… with her.
Anger settled deep in my gut and disappointment, mostly with myself, burned hotter than fire.
I closed my eyes but I wasn’t broken. Not yet.
When I opened them again, I resumed packing, silently, without another word to him.
You can’t leave with your things, Zeph,” he said from behind. “You’re my mate.”
“Stop me if you can.”
I strapped my bag and headed for the door. But he blocked me, eyes narrowed, furious, desperate, and still.. insecure.
Why? He had Ka. Why try to hold onto me!
“I get it now,” he snapped. “Why you’re so fearless. Because you have the Lycan King’s attention. But that doesn’t give you the right to disobey your mate. I won’t let you leave.”
I stepped closer, chin raised.
“The fact that I’ve been quiet. letting you and your family insult me, doesn’t mean I don’t know how to respond. Or that I don’t have followers ready to obey onemand. Just one word from me, and everything you’ve built will crumble. Dare me.. and I’ll lose it.”
It was a challenge. A promise.
I bypassed him. This time, he didn’t stop me.
But in the living room, I wasn’t surprised to find his mother and sister on their feet, having clearly overheard our argument.
Ka stood there too spine straight, pride still stitched into every line of her face.
1 walked up to her, close enough to see the flicker of nerves in her eyes. She stood in my path, refusing to move.
I smiled at her sharp and slow.
“Letting my mate crawl between your legs while he’s fated to another. now it’s clear who the slut is between us.”
I leaned in to whisper against her ear.
“It’s you. Whore.”
Her face drained of color.
I pulled back with a wicked smile, passed her, and stepped out into the courtyard, into the cold night where Moon was waiting.
He rushed forward to take my bag, helping me into the carriage.
Without another word, we left Hue Pack behind.
And for the first time in years, the weight on my chest began to lift.
Finished
It was as if I hud cared this burden for so long, I didn’t realize how heavy it was until now, when I was finally free. Maybe not fully but at least
