“Inform the packs we trade with that we’ll be renewing our partnership, especially Horn Pack. They’ve been begging for it. Tell the Alpha we’ll be signing more deals.”
“Alright, Alpha Nyroth,” he replies and leaves immediately, eager toplete the errand. I remain seated for a long moment, lost in thought.
A week has passed since the meeting where we would reject one another, a week remembering how she stood fiercely against my mother, my sister, and Ka.
I’ve always felt something about Zeph didn’t add up. Now I know. She is nothing but a whore. She must have lied about her virginity to gain my favor, and now, catching the Lycan King’s attention, she dares raise her voice in my face.
I set my jaw hard. She hasn’t even flinched seeing Ka in my arms. Something that usually is enough to break her heart.
I lower my gaze to think. The hairpin.. she must have stolen it from Ka. If not, why wasn’t she there that night when I woke?
I rise from my seat and push open the door to my office.
Down the hall, whispers reach me. It’s my sister and mother. I push open the door, and Olivia nearly jumps out of her skin. She steps back quickly, hiding the result of her trial test, again, for the healing school.
I study her face, and slowly, I understand. I walk into the living room, extending my hand.
“Give it to me.”
“But…”
“Now!” I snap. She shudders and passes me the paper, retreating behind our mother.
I nce down. Failed again. I swallow hard. Slowly, I look up, but my mother steps forward.
“You can’t me her. Your mate has already traumatized her enough. On the eve of her trial, That Rogue of a mate came to insult and stress her. If only you had acted sooner…”
Zeph. Again?
“At the trial, everyone whispered there was no healer like the Princess in the Lycan Kingdom. If only Zeph could help me meet her…” Oliviains, voice trailing off as I stare harder.
I sigh.
Olivia is right. I’ve seen the Lycan princess heal. She works miracles, detecting cures in seconds. But Zeph won’t help. She’s a liar and a useless rogue. Maybe Ka.
O
I swallow and turn to my sister.

“You should get ready. I’ll arrange a meeting with the Lycan princess for you.”
“Really?!” she exims, then, under my gaze, nods and withdraws.
“Do you think you can?” my mother asks, worry in her voice. “We all know how much the Lycan King protects his sisters. Zeph won’t help.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll find a way.”
I leave the living room and mount my horse outside. Under the hot sun, I ride to ckbridge Pack. Over the weeks, much has changed. Those who held/power under Alpha ck have lost everything, titles gone, and ves now outnumber nobles.
I approach the council chamber, hearing voices inside.
“You mean Ash Pack is the weakest? Oh no. We can’t…”
“It is,” Ka’s voice interrupts. I push open the door. “It’s a pack without an Alpha. They’ve weakened after five
years of war. No festivals, no trade. We must save them.”
Overhearing this makes me stunned. I walk into the council chamber.
Inside, Alpha Yadev sits at the head of the table, Ka standing beside him. They plot their next attack.
“Of <i>all </i>packs, Ash Pack?” I warn her.
“<i>They </i>were warriors. We saved ckbridge from an infant ruler. We must save Ash Pack from rotting,” she says, taking my hand gently. “I actually wanted to meet you tonight, Nyroth. We have things to discuss.”
I study her eyes.
“What is it?”
“Hue Pack… I’ll expand it for you.”
My eyebrows creased up in confusion.
“How?”
“By bringing Ash Pack and ckbridge Pack into it. Combine them.”
“Impossible,” I say curtly. “We will…”
Her lips press against mine, silencing me. When she pulls back, my heart races.
It didn’t take long before everyone began to depart. The door closes behind us, leaving only Ka and I. A smart woman, skilled at using her body and presence to her advantage.
She steps back, lowering her gaze, sadness forming.
“Years ago, I saved your life, Nyroth. Then I lost everything when the empire sent me on a mission for peace. I never knew you’d be mated to another, that you’d bring a woman into your home.”<fnd551> Get full chapters from find?novel</fnd551>

My heart sinks. I step to her, taking her hand, but she pulls away.

“You doubt I saved you. Youpare me to that rogue, and now… I don’t know who you are anymore.”
“Ka, stop.” I cup her cheek, searching her eyes. “I feel nothing for Zeph. You know it. She insulted my mother, you, and my sister. In front of all elders. She must pay.”
“Hasn’t she paid with the heartache of knowing the Lycan King will marry another?”
“I want more. A disgrace to show everyone she’s nothing but a slut, a rogue, useless.” I lean to kiss her. “She is nothing like you.”
She smiles wickedly and suggested.
“How about a public rejection ceremony? Invite Alphas, Lunas, Betas, elders, pack members from near and far. Even the Lycan Kingdom. There, you’ll strip her of everything and expose her as the useless rogue she is. I can host it for you.”
Pleasure tingles through me. I kiss her again, agreeing to her wise words.
