Mounting the stairs that night felt different. Stripped of every secret, ascending as who I truly was, An Alpha, an Ashmere, I know I should have felt no tension, but it came anyway. A chill ran through me, carried on the same dark energy I had felt before.
I reached the dimly lit hall of Lycannar and froze. I couldn’t pinpoint why, but I sensed the energying from the bath chamber. That’s where he was.
I moved toward the chamber and gently pushed the door open. What I saw made me pause. I remembered this bath chamber as ominous yet elegant but now… it had been transformed.
Candles burned in low pools of light, casting golden reflections across the marble floors. Rose petals floated on the water, and soft incense curled in the air, delicate and intoxicating.
The space had been arranged with a taste that was undeniably… personal. Sophisticated, yet intimate, as if designed for someone <i>to </i>linger in or perhaps for two.
My heart swelled, and I stepped inside further, letting my eyes trace the subtle changes. Every corner seemed softened, warmer. The room no longer felt like their of a bachelor; it felt married, domestic, yet with an undercurrent of raw, unspoken desire.
I lowered my gaze to gauge the pool, my pulse quickening. Everything in me sensed darkness beneath the allure, and I braced myself.
Then, a heavy step from behind made me start. Air left my lungs.<fn59f0> Follow current nov?ls on FιndNovel</fn59f0>
It was Lycannar.
I could tell from the mixture of his scent. Flowers and blood. That intoxicatingbination I hade to crave. But underneath it, there was a familiar darkness, raw and tight around my chest. I tried to ce it… and then his palm came from behind me. I froze.
Lycannar.
Gods, how much I missed his touch. My eyes closed as he wrapped his arms around me, his presence bothforting and overwhelming.
His palm slid from my waist up to my neck, tender yet insistent. When his lips pressed to mine, a fire ignited deep inside, and I opened my eyes, gasping for breath.
By the heat of his hands, the intensity of his kisses, I could tell he hadn’t heard. Not about what had happened, not about who I had be.
I turned slowly to face him. The changes in him were subtle at first, then undeniable. His hair fell loose around his shoulders, framing the sharp perfection of his face. His expression was unreadable, dark, and maic, and yet when his lips sought mine again, I pressed my palm to his chest and stepped back.
“Lycan…” I murmured, soft but urgent. He didn’t seem to hear, his gaze drawn to the gown I wore. Without hesitation, his fingers reached for the strap, attempting to pull it down. My heart thundered, and I stepped back again.

“Lycan, I have something to tell you.” I said, steadying myself. He nodded, undeterred, and came closer, closing the distance to stand behind me.
“It’s about who I am, Lycannar.”
His fingers traced the zipper of my gown, sliding it down slowly, lips pressing to the exposed skin of my back. A shiver ran through me, simultaneously intoxicating and terrifying. I fought for control. Knowing fully well what we were about to do could invoke the Moon Goddess’s wrath upon my pack.
“Lycan, we can’t… we can’t do this,” I whispered again, creating distance between us. He stared at me, silent. “I need you to listen. I need to tell you about me.”
He stopped moving. His eyes locked on mine. Finally, I had all his attention.
“Lycannar… remember when I told you I was leaving for my pack weeks ago? I arrived safely. My people received me well,” I began, panic rising despite my calm tone. “There… I had to undergo some rituals.”
Silence stretched between us. I expected words, but he didn’t speak. I started again, gently.
“The Moon Goddess… I went to her for her blessing. I became an Alpha, Lycannar, and when I did… she warned me. I cannot lie with any man except my fated mate. That means I cannot… cannot… be with you unless our bond is sanctioned. If I fail…
“What pack?” His first question cut through my words, calm but insistent. My breath caught. He wasn’t shocked by my being an Alpha.
“I’ve felt your energy since you walked into my Kingdom two nights ago. I recognize an Alpha when I see
one.”
His tone left no room for hesitation. He didn’t care what the Moon Goddess had said. I swallowed.
“Lycan…” I whispered.
“What pack?” he asked again, and I stepped back unconsciously.
“Ash Pack.”
Long silence. He stood still, eyes fixed on me. Why wouldn’t he speak?
Then his eyebrows furrowed, a frown forming as he studied me.
“What?”
“Lycan.”
“What pack?”
“Ash Pack.”
His frown deepened, that familiar expression when he was piecing together a puzzle, trying toplete a thought.
Slowly, he stepped forward, fingers brushing my arm in a tentative grip. I steadied myself, refusing to flinch.

“What did you just say? Which Ash Pack?”
“There is only one in this Whole Empire, Lycannar. But what does that have to do with anything?”

“Does that mean you are an Ashmere?” His words hit me like a stone, and my heart sank. “Wait… your parents. The ones I bowed to the other night at the memorial hall… they are the warlord and the war general?”
I couldn’t help but step back, freeing my arm from his grip. This… this was getting twisted.
