With my hair still dripping, I stepped into the bedchamber to get dressed. The bath had left me feeling refreshed, and I could already perceive the aroma drifting from the kitchen down the hall.
Anahita, the head maid of the Lycan Kingdom, had arrived by the King’s order to prepare breakfast, and just the scent made my mouth water.
She came with two supporting maids, each respectful, treating me exactly like the King’s woman. I had insisted on bathing alone because if the w mark on my arm was seen, it would surely be whispered to Lycannar, and I wanted none of that.
I moved toward the rows of dresses lining the chamber, selecting one of the many expensive and attractive gowns. Shoes on, I approached the mirror and lifted the curtain tob my hair.
As a daughter of my mother, I had been taught both how to care for myself and how to allow the maids to assist when needed.
“Mother, you taught me well,” I murmured, humming a light tune. But a cold wind suddenly swirled around the room, stopping me midb.
I turned to the far end of the chamber. The curtain moved again, pelling me to rise from my seat. I approached it, curious why it wasced against the wall in such a way.<fn9db0> The rightful source is FindN()vel</fn9db0>
The new setting of the room revealed it. Before, when Lycannar hasn’t rearranged his chamber, this curtain and the wall behind it had been concealed.
I was about to return to my seat when my gaze caught something that made me pause. The curtain swirled once more, revealing a wall. I walk towards it to ce my palm gently against it.
That was when I realized it was a door.
I hesitated, respecting Lycannar’s privacy. This was his chamber, his domain. I shouldn’t pry. And yet… this was the chamber I would one day share as his wife, his lover. Perhaps I had the right to know.
With my heart pounding, I reached for the doorknob and turned it. Stepping carefully to see I am inside a small armory.
I froze at the sight before me. A suit of war armor, two swords, and a powerful helm stood on disy but no shield. Cobwebs told me it had been years since anyone had opened this chamber.
Memories ofst night’s conversation resurfaced. He had said something I had overlooked in my anger and restlessness.
“Not all battles make it into history.” He has said.
I stared at the armor again, swallowing hard. As a goddess of war, I could tell rank by observing a warrior’s
armory.
Lycannar was not a foot soldier. Not even a warmander. Perhaps a war general or more. The armor whispered a single word to me.
Warlord.

Lowering my gaze. I left the bedchamber. I recalled the times he sparred with me, how expertly he had cvaded my attacks. Last night, when I had been angry and throw a kick, he had moved with the same precision.
I closed the door behind me and headed walk into the bed chamber once more.
Then it struck me. His horse. A magnificent warhorse. Did that mean the Lycans had fought in battles as well?
“Mydy?” A voice broke my reverie.
I turned to see Anahita standing at the threshold, head bowed.
“Mydy, breakfast is ready. We will serve the table now.”
I nodded and stepped out.
“I will help. What should I do?” I asked.
She looked at me, astonished, then shook her head.

“Surely you want His Majesty to have our heads? He mentioned you shouldn’t be stressed at all. If he knew you bathed yourself, he might go berserk.”
I nearly sighed, hearing the echo of what Lycannar might say. I smiled and made my way to the dining area but then I pause to give her an appreciative nce.
“Thanks for bringing Blue up. She is very sweet.”
Anahita paused, then covered my hand with hers. A beautiful, elderly gesture.
“When I heard she would serve you next, I was at peace. If His Majesty gave her to you, it means he knows you are pure. And now that I hear you are an Alpha, an Ashmere… I sigh in relief. You will protect her if ever he returned.”
I raised an eyebrow, confused.
“He… who ising back?”
She seemed momentarily puzzled, stepping closer.
“His Majesty didn’t tell you about Gaxib?”
I frowned.
“Who is Gaxib?”
“Blue elder brother.”
“No. I thought he was dead of seizure.”
“That’s what everyone was made to believe. The former king wanted the household dead, but His Majesty

saved Gaxib before he passed. Princess Mearez cared for him at the healing wing for months, secretly, until he vanished like a thin wind.”
I paused, curiosity and awe building.
“Why would Gaxib flee?”
“He held a grudge against His Majesty. Remember, the King stabbed his mother. Blue forgave him, but Gaxib left a letter, vowing to bring hell to the Lycan Kingdom and reim his sister when he returned. It has been over fifteen years and yet he is not here.”
Cold chills ran down my spine.
“So Blue didn’t know her brother survived?”
“No, mydy.”
I swallowed. Lycannar’s kingdom was endlessly mysterious, and I wondered briefly why he had not told me.
Footsteps approached at that moment, and the two Lycan princesses appeared at the doorway.
