We left Ash Pack under the early afternoon sky and arrived back in the Lycan Kingdom byte evening. The massive gates swung open, and my horse galloped past the carriage straight to the royal stables, where the stable master took the reins when I dismounted.
I went inside at once, tired and empty, stepping into the dining hall only to pause. I leaned on the table, hands pressed to my chest as I waited for my sisters. After a few minutes, I heard their soft chuckling before they appeared and stopped. Their eyes fixed on me.
I hadn’t told them about what I had discovered. The letters. The truth. My father, the true architect of evil.
My gaze drifted and settled on Mearez. She had gone to Ash Pack earlier, carefree, unburdened was how I have found her there. Now she lowered her eyes, swallowing as though she sensed panic.
‘You should rest. You both must be tired,” I said atst.
You too, baby brother,” Serena replied before leaving with Mearez, their absence leaving the dining hall hollow.
Without another word, I mounted the steps and opened the door into the silent tower. I paused there for what felt like an eternity before choosing my steps, slow and heavy, toward the living room. At the entrance, I stood still, the weight of fate pressing down on me like chains.
No matter how much I tried to think it through, it circled back to the same ce that I am a prisoner, and his tower is my cage.
I drifted into my chambers, the emptiness worse than before. I could never stay outside for more than one night. It was a warning etched into me since childhood. <fnc248> Read full story at f?ndnovel</fnc248>
My feet carried me before the mirror I had kept for Zephyrine. The curtain was drawn across it, and I swallowed hard. I could not uncover it. I could not even look at it. The warning remained. A warning I had obeyed without question.
I turned to the corridor, staring out into the vast kingdom below. So much wealth. Born of a Lycan King and a Demon Queen and yet I was no king. I was a curse. A product of abomination. For my parents’ defiance ofw, I would forever pay the price.
I sighed, leaving the corridor to return to my chamber, only to pause at the sight of him. Chantel stood in the doorway, silent, his gaze fixed on me.
“You’re back,” he said at Jast.
I didn’t answer. I walked to the table, poured a goblet of my potion, and drained it in a single swallow.
“Nothing happened in my absence?” I finally asked.
“Your uncle entertained a woman in his home.”
I raised a brow, pausing mid-motion. Slowly I turned to Chantel.

“My uncle Dareth? He cheated?”

Chantel said nothing, only stared. That silence was confirmation enough. I set down the goblet with a frown. A new woman in the Blood family? Or an old one resurfaced?

The sound of shackles falling. A whisper in my ear.
“Kill them all. Everyst one. That’s what you are. That’s who you are. A Blood. So spill it.”
My beast roared and the battlefield burned. ws, fangs, ughter, blood.
“Apex!” Hades’ voice thundered through the haze. “Apex, what have you done? Shouldn’t you still be chained?! Who let you out?!”
That was when I realized. When I saw. But what did I see? Who did I see? What did I do?

I shook my head violently and jerked awake with a start. My chest heaved, ears ringing. Footsteps neared and Chantel appeared at the door.
Panting, I sat up slowly, my heart pounding. What kind of nightmare was that? Why did it feel so blurry? so familiar?
“Are you alright?” Chantel asked.
I nodded, though he didn’t believe me. He stood there, silent, watchful. I sighed shakily.
“Pour me a ss of water.”
He obeyed without question. When he returned, he handed it to me. I epted, holding it for a moment before drinking deeply.
Strange. Nightmares were rare for me. This didn’t feel like one at all. No. It felt like a fragment of memory.
I drained the cup, letting the coolness ease me. Chantel retrieved it while Iy back down, my eyesnding on the sketch of Zephyrine above me.
Her image calmed me at once. She was lovely. She was mine. I loved how she burned with jealousy, how possessive she was of me. It made me feel alive, that someone beyond my sisters, beyond Hades, beyond Chantel loved me enough not to want to share me.
I felt Chantel’s steady gaze from the doorway, his presence a silent shield. I let my eyes close, reassured that if I ever lost control, he would be there to pull me back.
To the world, he was my bodyguard, protecting me from others. But the truth? His duty was the opposite. He was trained, raised, and bound for one purpose alone. To protect others from me. Because no one was more dangerous than my beasts, especially the demon within.
