Goddess. The Moon Goddess. As though she is here with us, blessing our mission. The sky rumbles, and the wind that rises tells me more we will have rain.
Lycannar stops his horse and turns to me, and I can’t help but smile.
“In a few minutes, it will rain. I guess this is our best chance,” he says with a wink, then dismounts sharply. He walks toward me, his finger brushing over myp as he stares. “You stick to the n, Zephyrine. Alright?”
I nod, my smile fading as the weight of this moment settles.
“I will.”
He says nothing more. He turns back to his horse, rubs its mane as though bidding farewell, and then sets out on foot with his twin des. His steps are too smooth, too steady, like a man in his own world.
There is no fear in him at all. It is almost dawn, yet the sky, which should be lightening, has darkened under thick clouds. As though the Moon Goddess truly walks behind us.
ckwater stands in the distance. I am the bait. But Lycannar goes first, just as nned.
I sit astride my horse, watching his figure fade into silhouette until he reaches the massive gate, looming and shut tight.
“Who goes there?!” A loud voice booms from the night guard. Lycannar waits, still as stone.
I don’t breathe. The gate opens. The same man who once escorted me to Stone steps out, just as before.
My heart pounds, panic threatening me,
“You are here for what?” the man asks Lycannar. But Lycannar simply watches. He never speaks to strangers. He never does,
And in a blink, while I still wonder how he’ll get past the security, Lycannar pulls a knife from his boot and flings it with merciless precision towards the guard who has spoken. It buries itself into the guard’s neck.
He drops instantly. Dead.

The man who has stepped out was stunned and he tries to flee, but Lycannar is already on him. In less than a heartbeat, he’s pinned with a de sliding cruelly into his back.
“I will ask once, and you will answer,” my Lycan King threatens, his voice deep and ruthless. “The man in the underground, the one guarded, how do I get to him?”
The soldier gasps, struggling, his defiance shaking in his throat.
“You think you can even get past…”
Thrust.
I freeze at the sound. Lycannar drives the knife deeper, twisting it with cruelty, his other hand mped over the man’s throat to silence any cry.
“Try again.” His demand is low, hot, merciless.
The man trembles, pain forcing truth from him.
“I… I can take you. I can’t exin it… it cannot be described. Only Stone knows the passage. I will take you. Please.”
I swallow hard. This was not part of the n. We thought he’d reveal the way, not offer to lead him. Everything shifts.
Lycannar sighs, then turns his gaze toward me. For a heartbeat, he watches me, still as death, before turning back and dragging the soldier with him into ckwater.
I breathe shakily. My turn.
I wait a moment, letting them go further. Then I spur my horse and ride into the fortress.
The walls loom, towering and imprable. Goosebumps prickle my skin. I lower my eyelids, reaching inward. Lycannar. I can feel him. The amulet binds us. He is not in danger.
Relief steadies me until footsteps approach. I open my eyes.
And there he is.
Stone. From the same window where his arrow once struck me.
Our eyes lock. My throat tightens.
Before I can move, his guards surround my horse, swords drawn and aimed.

“The leader will see you now,” one snarls.
I do not answer. Instead, I dismount, walking where they lead back to the same hall I entered
before. <fnef9a> Fresh chapters posted on FindN0vel</fnef9a>
The sight freezes me. Dessyn and Moon were right. Stone has prepared. His army fills the fortress, cruel faces, merciless eyes. All for me. But when they see Ie alone, nces flicker among them, as though they’ve wasted their readiness.
I pass ves chained in misery. Children sobbing. The stench of dread thick in the air.
Atst, the doors swing open. The same bedchamber where Stone once tried toy hands on <ol><li>me. </li></ol>
He stands there, arms folded, a smug smirk carved across his face. Today the chamber is different, heavily guarded, no women present. He has prepared.
“You return just as you promised,” he says, stepping forward. “I thought you’d bring an army… but you’vee alone. Have youe to be my whore?”
His breath reeks, but I choke it down. Lycannar… wait.
I feel it. A surge of power through the amulet. My blood runs cold. He is fighting.
I need time. Slowly, I raise my head, swallowing the fear.
“Do you even know who the man you’ve chained beneath your feet is?” My voice burns. “He is an Ashmere. Do you even know what that means?”
“Ashmere?” he repeats, amused. “Lineage of warriors who guarded the shifter empire from demons?”
Cold sweat dampens my skin. He shrugs.
“He is no Ashmere. If he were, why was he brought here weak, with a w mark that never heals?”
Heat floods me. My chest tightens. What did he just say? A w mark… that never heals?
“My brother fought in the demon wars. Likes of you will never understand what that means.”

“Really?” he taunts, stepping closer, voice thick with challenge. “I will fuck that confidence out
you today, little damsel. And just so you know, the gates of ckwater will close automatically once entered. You are trapped here. Forever.”

He leans in, reaching for my lips.
Hell itself would forbid it.

In a sh, my knife was drawn from my side boot, in my hand, shing as his men charge. Blood sprays. My heart pounds as throats open beneath my steel, their surprise sealing their fate.
Stone sees his men copse, and fury shes. He lunges for his sword.
This time, I am ready. No w mark weakens me now.
I grip my de tighter. This glory will be mine.
“You are dead,” Stone snarls, surging at me.
