Back Where 225

    Zephyrine

The morning sunlight felt different today. The breeze, too, carried something new, as though everything had shiftedpletely. I could sense a surge of power in the air.

I stirred, but he wasn’t there beside me. The emptiness of the bed urged my eyes open. I sighed.

It was a new day. A day when Luna Tahlia would reim her glory and set everything in the ckbridge Pack right with nothing more than her presence.

A small smile tugged at my lips at the thought of how shocked everyone would be when she arrived. I turned to rise, but froze cold at the sight before me. I swear I shuddered.

On the table stood a ss case, glowing faintly, holding what I never expected to see. My heart dropped as I pulled back.

    The ring.

But… how? I thought we had closed the chapter of marriage. I thought he had agreed I wasn’t fit for a woman since I could give him nothing.

Was he still going to propose despite everything?

I was caught between disbelief and dread when he entered from the corridor. His filled the room, heavy andmanding.

    presence

My breath caught as he walked toward the chair across from me and sat, his eyes locking onto mine, not with anger, not with disdain, but with a seriousnessced with possession.

I gulped, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, my gaze flicking from the ring back to him.

“It was made overnight,” his voice came gently, making my heart clench. “If you look closely, you’ll see it has two sides. One represents a kingdom, the other a realm. It was carved from the purest sacred gold… with a drop of my blood.”

I bit my lower lip, shaken by the weight of his words.

“I had epted a fate long before you came into my life, Zephyrine,” he continued, his voice rough with honesty. “That this tower would be where I lived and died in loneliness and anguish. My father never failed to remind me that no one would ever love me. That

who showed me affection only wanted my wealth, my throne, my power. I resigned myself to it. Until you walked in. The very first nce, and I swear, I’ve wanted you ever since.

I told you no other woman matters, and you should believe me. I don’t care what ws think you carry. We will face them together.

    you

If you are burdened, we will carry it together. If there is joy, we willugh together. If sorrowes, we will grieve together. When I asked you to be my woman, it was never for disy, never to take you for a single night and walk away.

What I feel for you is beyond everything, even beyond the curse my foremothers bound to

    me.”

He paused, jaw tightening, fingers raking through his hair as if fighting for control.

“I tried, Zephyrine,” he whispered, voice breaking. “Tried to stop feeling this way about you. But I can’t. I don’t know how. And I fear… I fear I’ll lose myself if you leave me.”

Raw pain swam in his eyes.

“You are my anchor. The thought of you alone keeps me sane. If you don’t take this ring, if you don’t marry me and stay here with me…” His voice dropped, firm. “forgive me if this sounds like a threat, but I wille for you. I will drag you back here, bind you with the darkest spell, and marry you by fire and force if I must. Not even the moon goddess you worship will stop me. Hate me if you wish, but I will still cherish you, support you, and be obsessed with you.”

I froze at thest words. Goosebumps rippled over my skin, my heart thudding as though begging him to repeat it.

“I am obsessed with you, Zephyrine,” he breathed. “From the first moment I saw you. From the moment you stepped into my kingdom. From the sound of your voice, the moment you trusted me with your heart, the moment you never once questioned my curse the way everyone else does.”

He rose from his chair, came to the bed, and lowered himself beside me. Taking the ring from its case, he held it out.

“Please ept it. We’ll figure out pupster. Just be my wife. Let me be your husband. That’s all

    I want.”

At the peak of emotion, even the strongest warriors shed tears. His confession, vow, and threat all collided before me, and I couldn’t fathom how I had ever thought myself undeserving of such devotion.

How blind to think the moon goddess herself could prevent this love from blooming in our hearts.

I met his eyes, everyst barrier in me shattering.

“Put it on me,” I whispered shakily, terrified he might change his mind if I hesitated. “Please, Lycannar. Put it on me.”

He took the ring, but paused, a faint smile ghosting his lips.

“Ah. Am I not supposed to kneel for this?”

Tears streamed down my face asughter broke through my sob. I watched him kneel and slide the ring onto my finger, binding us from that moment as one.

And that was how it began.

    Our fated love.
