I couldn’t breathe. Not truly. What I found were two certain truths. The moment I put the ne back on, when Nyroth extended it to me, my thoughts became disoriented and the bond I shared with Lycannar snapped, shattered.

The second truth. I felt a pull toward Nyroth. A pull that went against my heart’s true desire. It was painful not to obey it.

As I hurried down the stairs, I bypassed guards and maids until I broke outside. My steps carried me to the carriage waiting in the courtyard, but before climbing in, I felt it. His eyes on

me.

Slowly, I turned toward the ck Tower. Lycannar stood in the corridor, staring at me, probably wondering why I had called another man’s name in my sleep. And not just any man, but my ex–mate, the one I was supposed to hate.

I swallowed under the weight of his gaze. Every piece of my heart screamed to run to him. But I couldn’t. The pull toward Nyroth was too powerful. I climbed into the carriage, and it rolled toward Hue Pack without dy.

Yet the farther it carried me, the worse it grew. As the carriage wheels crossed out of the Lycan Kingdom, leaving it all behind, I felt myself torn by two different forces. Two pulls. Two loves. My very heart battling something unnatural. Something unworldly.

I leaned forward, jaw set, fighting to stay steady. Atst, the carriage wheels ground into Hue Pack territory, but I couldn’t step out. Not yet. Not when my body was breaking apart inside

me.

I bit my lower lip, trying to anchor myself. Trying to stay sane. And in one sharp instant, something within me stirred. A strange power. Faint, but enough to help me face what wasing.

I stepped from the carriage and stood there, drawing breath. They all stopped to stare.

The pack members, the guards, the maids. They looked as they should at an Alpha. At the first female Alpha. The same one they once mocked as a rogue.

I ignored them and strode into the hall. Past the guards. Past the staff. Straight into the wide chamber of Nyroth Hue. He was there, waiting.

It was as though he had known I woulde. His gaze pinned me. His arms hung by his sides,

yet the pull inside me screamed to fall into them.

My heart knew it wasn’t real. It wasn’t what I wanted. But the ache tore through me, unrelenting, and when he finally spread his arms wide to wee me, my resistance shattered.

    I walked into Nyroth’s arms.

He crushed me against him, clinging with possession and hunger.

“My gods, Zeph,” he breathed, desperate. “How I wish I could turn back the clock, to im you when you were fully mine. But now… you are mine. Are you not?”

Every part of me knew I wasn’t. But the unholy force inside me urged me to agree. To surrender.

Still, the devotion I carried for Lycannar refused to be silenced. I fought the spell, denied him, and shattered in the attempt. Blood sprayed from my lips. I fell to my knees.

    “Zeph!”

“What did you do to me?” My voice broke as I coughed, breath uneven. He tried to help me up, but I flung his hand away, trembling with rage and disgust at myself, for ever wanting to be in his arms.

Horror filled his face as he stared at the blood on the floor. Then the doors burst mother. His sister.

    open. His

“What did you do to me, Nyroth?!” My voice rang through the hall, ragged with fury. “What kind of spell is this?”

    “The darkest of all.”

Pam’s voice slid like a de. My head snapped toward her.

“After you left the square,” she said, walking closer, “The council menebr made a decision. They summoned the most powerful witch in the empire. A love–binding spell. The strongest amulet.”

Gooseflesh rose along my skin. My breath shook as I bit my lip, struggling to steady myself.

“What’s the cure?!” I demanded. “What can be done?”

Pam nced at her son, Nyroth, then back to me. She smiled.

“Never did I imagine a day woulde where I’d stand before the Lycan King’s woman and see the love she feel for him crumbled.” Her smile deepened as she faced Nyroth. Then she turned her eyes on me.

“This is only the beginning, Zeph. Don’t fight the pull, it will consume you. Soon you’ll forget any love you’ve ever had. Soon, all you’ll want is Nyroth Hue. But don’t worry. You will be fine.”

Herughter echoed as she walked in, pulling Olivia who clearly was not I support. I can tell from the emotion in her eyes, leaving the truth burning like fire in my chest.

I, Zephyrine Ashmere, who had promised the man I loved that I would return before afternoon, sank to the floor. Nyroth caught me, his palm caressing my cheek with false

    concern.

My vision blurred. My eyes fluttered closed. And just before unconsciousness took me, I felt it. My thoughts unraveling, my will splintering. Pam was right. I wanted Nyroth. I was forgetting the man I truly loved.

Only she was wrong about one thing.

    It wasn’t gradual. It was instant. <fnb03b> ??? ????? ???????s ??? ?????s??? ?? Find?Novel</fnb03b>

And as the darkness swallowed me, one final thought struck. Who in this empire had the power to cast such a spell?
