Invitation 93

“Back when you were in eighth grade and about to start high school, I refused to let your father’s mistress into the family. I did everything to protect your position as the rightful heir and kept that woman’s illegitimate child from ever being acknowledged as a Fowler,” Yosef said.

He went on, “But look at you. You grew up to be just like your father. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,

    does it?”

There wasn’t a single curse word in the scolding, but to Edward, it was the harshest thing he’d ever heard. Every word cut deep and left him feeling wounded and exposed.

“I’m sorry, Grandpa… Paparazzi swarmed Sharon’s hotel, and her bag was stolen. She lost her ID and couldn’t check into a hotel,” Edward exined in a low voice.

“And that’s why you let her stay at your ce? <b>If </b>you’re so charitable, why don’t you start taking in stray cats and dogs?” Yosef shot back.

Edward was left speechless and unable toe up with a response.

“How long has she been staying there?” Yosef pressed. <fn4faa> ?????? ???? Find_Novel(.</fn4faa>

Edward hesitated as he debated whether to lie to his grandfather. But before he could answer, the cane struck

    him again.

“Don’t even think about lying to me. Tell me now, or do you want me to ask May?” Yosef coldly asked.

Edward hesitated before saying, “About 20 days.”

Yosef’s eyes widened in anger as he struck Edward hard several times with his cane. He barked, “About 20 days? And you made May go through all that for so long?

“Let’s not talk about why you even let Sharon stay in the first ce. Are you telling me that you couldn’t find her another ce to stay? I don’t think you’re doing this out of sympathy. You just want to get back together

    with her.”

Edward immediately looked up to defend himself, but Yosef’s re stopped him cold.

“You’ve already had two scandals with her–one where you carried her out of the event and another where you gave her a nine–million–dor ne. Edward, what do you have to say for yourself?” Yosef snapped. 1

Edward clenched his fists and ground his teeth. He had nothing to refute because he had indeed done those

things and was witnessed by many people.

“I agreed to your divorce and had no objection. May is a fine young woman, and I’ve already caused her enough pain these past two years. From now on, you should stop bothering her.”

Yosef calmed down and spoke with a neutral expression.

Edward panicked at those words. He hurriedly dropped to his knees and moved forward two steps, gripping his grandfather’s leg.

“No! I didn’t divorce her. Grandpa, that document was fake. I never signed it. The court won’t recognize it, and I never filed for it. Legally, the divorce isn’t valid.”

Yosef looked at him coldly. He could see the desperation in Edward’s face, along with panic, fear, and regret.

“Stop denying it. You signed the documents, but now that she’s gone, you regret it,” he said.

He continued, “But what good does that do? She’s noting back just because you changed your mind. You had your chance, and you threw it away.”

Edward shook his head and insisted that he hadn’t signed anything.

Seeing his grandson’s stubborn denial, Yosef gestured to Nn to bring the original document.

Nn flipped to the signature page and held it up.

Edward looked up, and when he saw his signature, he froze. He recognized it instantly, but…

“No… No, this isn’t right. I never signed this.”

Edward shot to his feet and lunged for the document, but Nn quickly stepped aside.

“Don’t let him get his hands on the original document. If he loses it and tears it up, it’ll be a real mess,” Yosef instructed coolly.

When Edward realized that he couldn’t get to the document, he turned to beg his grandfather. But Yosef remained indifferent the entire time, his expression unchanged.

Breakfast was served, and Yosef calmly ate his meal.

However, Edward had no appetite. He sat there like a deted balloon as he ran through his memories repeatedly, trying to figure out when he had signed those documents.
