Chapter 322

He nced at his watch; it was almost midnight. Amara was probably already asleep. Just as he was about to leave, a sudden noise from inside the room stopped Finnian in his tracks. It sounded like a scream. He turned back and

    pushed the door open.

    "Amara, what''s wrong?"

As Finnian entered, he could see Amara lying on the bed in the dimly-lit room, thanks to the sliver of moonlight filtering through the curtains. Her eyes were tightly shut, her forehead drenched in cold sweat, and her hands were iling in the air as she cried out, "Help me!"

Rushing to her side, Finnian lifted Amara into his arms and gently patted her back. "Amara, wake up."

    It was that nightmare again.

In her dream, she was strolling through a garden, admiring the scenery. Suddenly, she lost her footing and fell into a pitch-ck hole. The ground was all dirt, sticky under her palms. She was terrified and stood up, shouting for help. But above her, there was only a palm-sized patch of light, shrinking rapidly. Tears of fear streamed down her face as she jumped, desperately trying to reach the light.<fn3aaf> Newest update provided by f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?</fn3aaf>

Then, the light vanished, leaving her trapped in the oppressive darkness, the terrifying sensation of being buried alive overwhelming her.

Next, she found herself in a brightly lit room. Despite the wetness, a fire erupted, its mes licking at her skin painfully.

Even more bizarre, while she was indoors battling the fire, a truck suddenly came barreling towards her, sending her flying.

She screamed for help, hands iling wildly, searching for something to grasp onto, something to save her.

"Amara, wake up!" Someone called out to her.

She jolted awake, her eyes wide open, staring at the dark ceiling, gasping for air.

The moment she awoke, she realized it had been another nightmare. Yet the vividness of it left her feeling shaken.

Turning her head, she saw Finnian. "Mr. Everly, what are you doing here?"

The warmth and firmness of his embrace brought her a sense of safety. Each of her nightmares was rooted in real events, and every time, Finnjan had been there to save her The moment she realized she was in his arms, she felt an overwhelming sense of security and instinctively clutched at his shirt.  s

Realizing the impropriety of her action, she quickly released her grip.

Finnian nced at the hand that had just clutched his shirt and said, "I heard you screaming just now. Le rushed into your room and saw you were having a nightmare. I came over to wake you up. Don''t worry about it."  s

Amara shook her head. "Why would I mind?"

Thank goodness Finnian woke her up; otherwise, who knows how many times that nightmare would have repeated. She was truly frightened by it.

She sat up, and Finnian helped her settle back onto the bed, though he still kept his arms around her.

Amara shifted slightly, but Finnian held her tighter. "Don''t move. You''re cold and sweating; you might catch a chill."

Honestly, pulling the nket over her would have sufficed, but Amara was still shaken from the nightmare and hadn''t thought of that. She let Finnian hold her.

"What time is it?" she asked.

Finnian checked his phone. "It''s 11:52. How long have you been asleep?"

    "About an hour or so."

    "What was your nightmare about?"

Amara thought for a moment and said, "I was walking in a garden, suddenly fell into a pit, then ended up in a strange ce, nearly got burned by fire and stien a truck hit me."
