"Did you catch the morning''s trending news?" Finnian asked, a hint of frustration in his voice. "I''ve already taken care of it and given my mom a warning."
Finnian was usually the epitome of calm and control, rarely showing any sign of annoyance. But this time, it involved his mother, and even he seemed at a loss. Amara responded nonchntly, "I saw it. Thanks for handling it."
"No need to thank me. It''s my responsibility," Finnian assured her, his eyes softening. "You''ve been through a lot."
Amara had indeed been wronged, so she simply nodded in acknowledgment, letting Finnian''s words linger between them.
After his exnation, Finnian didn''t leave. He stood there, looking at Amara, lost in thought.
Amara felt a bit awkward about asking him to leave, and just as she was about to say something, Keith burst in with his trademark sarcasm. "Well, well, Mr. Everly, the man with a million things on his te, has time to visit our dear Amara? Or wait..." he paused, feigning surprise, "Could it be that you''re here to apologize? Makes sense, considering what happened this morning. The Everly family owes an apology."
Keith''s words dripped with irony, and Finnian found himself unable to counter them, knowing full well that Emma had crossed a line.
Turning to Amara once more, Finnian promised, "Don''t worry, this kind of thing won''t happen again."
Amara nodded, keeping her thoughts to herself.
Just then, an urgent knock on the door interrupted them. Amara opened it to find Will standing there, looking slightly anxious. "Mr. Everly, Mrs. Everly is here to see Ms. Porter."
The "Mrs. Everly" in question was Emma. So, Emma was visiting Liliana?
It seemed the Everly family had another member backing Liliana, aside from Hogan. A wry smile yed on Amara''s lips.
Finnian''s expression turned serious. "I have to go," he said to Amara before leaving with Will.
Keith remained, holding Amara''s<fn1666> Read full story at </fn1666>
wrist gently. "Promise me you won''t get back together with Finnian. He might seem head over heels now, but he''s ice-cold once he gets what he wants s
Amaraughed at Keith''s blunt assessment of Finnian. "Don''t worry. Why would I get back together with him?"
Keith nced at her midsection, his meaning clear.
Amara ced her hand on her stomach. "So what if there''s a baby? I''m not after
the Everly family''s money. No point in using a child to fight for anything."
As for reconciling with her ex for the sake of providing a ''better'' family environment? That was out of the question for Amara. She believed a warm single-parent home was far better than a contentious two parent one. She would never subject her child to that kind of environment. s
Seeing Amara''s resolve not to reunite with Finnian, Keith felt a bit relieved.
He toyed with the idea of suggesting, "Maybe you and I should get married. I could help you raise the child."
But knowing Amara didn''t have romantic feelings for him, he held back Such a proposal would only. make things awkward, so he opted to maintain their friendship for now. s
Keith sighed, leaving the room behind.
Meanwhile, Finnian reached Liliana''s room and knocked. Without waiting for a response, he opened the door and stepped in.
Inside, Liliana was lounging on a sofa, and next to her sat Emma.
