《World Magic: I Awakened Light and Dark Magic Attributes》 Chapter 1 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation Kyrenia, St. Peter¡¯s High School, Grade 4, Class 6. ¡°The awakening of the mage talents will be happening soon. I hope I can awaken an A-grade rare magical element.¡± ¡°You? An A-grade rare magical elemental? St. Peter¡¯s High School has not had a rare magical elemental for many years, let alone an A-grade.¡± ¡°Hehe, I¡¯ll be satisfied as long as I awaken as a C-grade magical elemental.¡± ¡°That¡¯s right, being a C-grade magical elemental is enough for us to become mages.¡± ¡ The students in the classroom were discussing excitedly, and Hughes, who was sitting next to the back window, was also very nervous. It has been nineteen years since he first reincarnated to this world, and he had only a rough understanding of this world. This was the Blue Planet, and its historical development was roughly the same as Earth¡¯s. But two hundred years ago, magic sprouted out of nowhere. Thus, special energy called magic energy suddenly emerged across the globe. Under the influence of this special energy, animals quickly evolved into highly aggressive magical beasts one after another and then began to attack the human world. It was the first time humans fought against magical beasts, and in despair, they discovered that the thermal weapons they usually used did not affect the magical beasts much. Therefore, at the beginning of the war, humans suffered heavy casualties, and some weak countries were completely engulfed by the surging beast tide. After decades of fumbling, someone finally discovered the opportunity and help that magical energy provided to humans. It turned out that humans and animals had different structures. They could not directly evolve through magical energy, but they could control the magical energy in the world for their own use through the awakening of magical elements. And people who had awakened magic elements were collectively known as mages. With the popularization of this method of evolution, a large number of mages appeared like bamboo shoots after a night of rain. It was because of this that humans gradually stood firm and resisted the attacks of the magical beasts, and one had lasted until now. These were what Hughes had learned over the years. ¡°Hey, Hughes, are you nervous?¡± His deskmate, Blair, looked at the silent Hughes and asked, ¡°Aren¡¯t you nervous? This is a crucial moment that will determine your future.¡± Hughes glanced at his deskmate, Blair, and said in an unpleasant tone, ¡°The awakening of magical elements could only be carried out after one had reached the age of 19.¡± And today was the day that the country set the date for the awakening of magical elements. ¡°Students, it¡¯s almost time for the awakening of magical elements in our class.¡± ¡°For this awakening, everyone should treat it with a casual attitude and strive to awaken their magic elements,¡± said Bill, the homeroom teacher. ¡°Teacher, what if I¡¯m a little nervous?¡± ¡°Nervous my ass! At worst, you¡¯ll fail the awakening. You won¡¯t even die if you can¡¯t become a mage!¡± ¡°That¡¯s true, but I still want to become a mage!¡± ¡ After hearing the teacher¡¯s voice, everyone in class six couldn¡¯t help but become nervous. Even Hughes could feel his heart beating faster. Soon, Bill, the homeroom teacher, led the entire class six filled with seniors to the Hall of Awakening. In the spacious awakening hall, there were quite many idle people from St. Peter¡¯s high school who were here to awaken their magical element. After all, in this day and age, most people had been training since they were young for this moment. Just so that they could become famous after awakening their magic elements. Upon entering the Awakening Hall, Hughes was immediately attracted to the tall instrument placed in the center of the hall. The instrument was about three meters tall, with black and red colors lining its exterior. It was like a giant steel beast standing in the middle of the Hall of Awakening. As he walked in, he saw a dent in the center of the instrument. A transparent crystal ball the size of a basketball was placed inside and black cables were connected to it. Beside the instrument, a tall middle-aged man that emitted a strong aura stood there. This man was the dean of St. Peter¡¯s High School, Eugene, who was in charge of the awakening ceremony. ¡°Eugene, everyone from class six is here.¡± Bill said in awe. Eugene was second-in-command only to the principal of St. Peter¡¯s High School, and she was a high-level mage. She was only one step away from becoming a grand mage. In St. Peter¡¯s High School, where most people were ordinary people, such a strong person was naturally respected by Bill and everyone else. ¡°Yes!¡± Eugene nodded and looked around at everyone, then, she used her magic powers to amplify her voice and said, ¡°Class four has just completed the awakening ceremony. There is one student who has obtained the fire element, two students who have obtained the water element, two students who have obtained the wind element, and three students who have obtained the Earth element.¡± ¡°Among them, there is one student whose fire element talent is rated as an A. I hope your class¡¯s performance is better than theirs.¡± ¡°What? Someone actually awakened an A-grade fire elemental talent?¡± ¡°Oh my god, what kind of luck is this!¡± ¡°Hiss, an A-grade fire elemental talent. With that result, he should be able to enter any of the top mage universities in the country!¡± ¡°Almighty God! Please let me awaken an A-grade elemental talent too.¡± Immediately, many of the students were envious. Standing in the middle of the group, Hughes was also slightly surprised. The elemental awakening of a mage was divided into four common categories: Wind, fire, water, and earth, as well as thunder, ice, light, and dark. But even if they were the same type of magical element, there were also differences in strength, so people used magical talent to distinguish. The level of magical talent was also divided into C-rank, B-rank, A-rank, S-rank, and SS-rank. The higher the grade of magical talent, the better the potential. A-grade of fire elemental talent was considered rare. ¡°Okay, everyone pays attention to maintain a good mentality when you awaken.¡± ¡°Line up in single files according to your student number,¡± Bill instructed and then ordered the students to line up. The elemental awakening of a mage was not complicated. They only needed to activate the magic elements in their body through the crystal in the center of the awakening device. ¡°Number 1, George.¡± Bill, the homeroom teacher, read. Then, a skinny boy walked up and placed his hand on the crystal in the middle of the device. For a while, there was no reaction on the crystal. ¡°George, no elemental ability.¡± Hearing the cold voice of the device, George¡¯s face instantly turned pale and he walked down from the device in a daze. ¡°Sigh!¡± Hughes and the other students of class six sighed when they saw this. This result was also the result of most of the people present. As time passed, one by one, the students walked forward and began the elemental awakening. Very soon, it would be Hughes¡¯s turn. ¡°Number 16, Hughes.¡± Hearing the voice of his homeroom teacher, Bill, Hughes took a deep breath and slowly walked onto the instrument. ¡°Ding ~ Detected that the host is in the process of awakening magical elements. Mage god system activated.¡± ¡°Activation successful. Novice gift bag in hand.¡± ¡°Light attribute SS grade talent released. Awaiting awakening.¡± ¡°Dark attribute SS grade talent released. Awaiting awakening.¡± Just as Hughes was about to step onto the stage, the system¡¯s voice sounded! Chapter 2 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°System?¡± Hughes was overjoyed and almost lost control of his emotions. As someone who reincarnated over to this world, he naturally knew about the system, but he had waited for more than ten years to get it. He did not expect to awaken the system with such great results today, and even more unexpectedly, the system had directly sent him a super big gift bag. ¡°Light attribute SS-grade talent, dark attribute SS-grade talent. As expected of the mage god system, even a newbie big gift bag is so awesome.¡± If not for the fact that there were so many people around, Hughes would have laughed out loud. As two of the rarer types, especially light magic, were very popular in this world. It could be said that as long as one awakened the light attribute SS-grade talent, the top mage universities in the country would come and fight for the mage to enter their university. ¡°System, other than the novice gift bag, what other functions do you have?¡± Hughes asked the system in his mind. ¡°As long as you kill a demon beast, you will receive mana points.¡± ¡°Mana points can be used to level up and increase spell proficiency.¡± ¡°In addition, there is a certain chance to receive special rewards for killing a demon beast.¡± Listening to the system¡¯s introduction, Hughes¡¯ eyes immediately lit up. Really? If that was the case, then I would be able to save a lot of time. Just as Hughes was about to place his hand on the crystal ball¡ He was suddenly shocked. If it was just an SS-grade magical element talent, although it was brilliant, it would still be acceptable. Because although an SS-grade magical element talent was rare, it could still appear in the entire country every year. But if it were two SS-grade magical element talents, then it wouldn¡¯t just attract envy. It was very likely to be a fatal disaster. After two lifetimes, Hughes was very clear about this principle. Thinking of this, Hughes retracted his palm right before he placed it on the crystal ball. Eugene and Bill did not have any intention of blaming him. After so many years, they had already gotten used to it. From their point of view, Hughes was nervous. ¡°System, can you help me hide one first?¡± Hughes asked in his mind. ¡°Yes.¡± The cold voice of the system sounded in Hughes¡¯s mind. ¡°In that case, help me hide the dark attribute SS-grade talent.¡± The reason why he hid the dark attribute SS-grade talent was mainly that most mages who practiced the dark attribute were dark mages. For the sake of long-term benefits, Hughes planned to hide the dark attribute first. Moreover, there were not many light attribute magic mages in the entire country, not to mention a magical talent like an SS-grade. Only by exposing the attributes would it be more beneficial for his growth. ¡°Hughes, can we begin?¡± Bill looked at Hughes, who was still not moving, and could not help but ask. Hughes took a look at Bill and nodded. Then, he placed his right hand on the crystal ball. Although he knew that he had a light attribute SS-grade talent, Hughes still couldn¡¯t help but want to take a look. ¡°Buzz!¡± The huge instrument began to operate. At the same time, a warm energy was radiating in Hughes¡¯ body. Not long after, Hughes¡¯ body trembled slightly. The next moment, a scene appeared that shocked everyone. At first, there were only specks of light on Hughes¡¯s body. However, as the instrument buzzed, more and more light began to shine on Hughes¡¯ body. Suddenly, a huge amount of light magic energy surged out of Hughes¡¯ body. ¡°This is¡¡± Eugene¡¯s pupils constricted. He said randomly, ¡°Retreat quickly!¡± As soon as he said that, Eugene waved her hand. ¡°Defensive spell: Water Curtain!¡± A stream of water appeared behind Eugene and surrounded Hughes. Soon, the stream of water surrounded Hughes and his light magic. This was the use of water magic. The high-speed water flow formed a huge water ball and trapped everything in it. ¡°Boom!¡± Golden Light filled the air. ¡°Buzz!¡± What shocked Eugene was that his water screen was trembling from Hughes¡¯ light magic. ¡°What a massive amount of light magic!¡± Eugene¡¯s eyes were solemn as he muttered to himself, ¡°This kind of power is at least an S-grade light magic talent!¡± Then, Hughes, who was in the water screen, felt that his body was filled with a domineering and scorching energy. When he opened his eyes once again, all the light magic gathered into his body. The next moment, the light magic that had entered Hughes¡¯ body condensed into six wings that shone with golden light behind him. Hughes looked like a God who had descended to the mortal world. The entire hall was silent! Everyone in the Hall of Awakening, including Eugene, stared with their mouths agape at the god-like Hughes in front of them. ¡°Beep, Hughes has awakened. Rare Magic ¡ª Light Magic. Magic talent: SS.¡± When the cold mechanical voice of the awakening device sounded, everyone finally recovered from their shock. Then, they all looked at Hughes with complicated eyes. ¡°Oh my god! Our St. Peter High School, no, Kyrenia has actually produced an SS-grade!¡± ¡°It¡¯s the most mysterious element among all the magical elements. He¡¯s standing up, Hughes has completely stood up!¡± ¡°Hughes is handsome and talented. He¡¯s practically the perfect model for a boyfriend!¡± ¡°Ah, Hughes, I¡¯m going to give birth to many babies for you.¡± ¡°Come on, are you even worthy of someone like Hughes, you haven¡¯t even awakened your elements yet. At the very least, you¡¯re more suited to be with me, a C-grade.¡± ¡°Sigh, from now on, we¡¯re not from the same world. I¡¯m really envious of him.¡± Everyone was discussing. Some were envious, and there were some who said that the grapes were sour because they could not eat them. It could not be helped, their talent in magic determined their future status. And Hughes was destined to be above them. Even the current principal of St. Peter High School had to be polite to Hughes. ¡°You¡ Hughes, you really took off this time!¡± ¡°Our St. Peter High School is going to be famous this time!¡± Looking at the great achievements of her school¡¯s students, Eugene was so excited that he couldn¡¯t even speak clearly. Eugene was both excited and envious now. After all, Hughes awakening his SS-grade light magic talent was also a great thing for the school. It could be imagined that these teachers would also receive a lot of bonuses. Next year¡¯s education budget is going to go up by a lot. And St. Peter¡¯s is going to get a lot more students. It¡¯s fair to say that Hughes is uplifting the whole school. How could Eugene not be happy about that. Chapter 3 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Hughes, congratulations, congratulations!¡± The homeroom teacher¡¯s face was flushed with excitement. His magic talent was at C-grade, the lowest grade. However, his student was an SS-grade. This was a supreme honor! It could be bragged about for a lifetime! Cleveland, was the other class¡¯s homeroom teacher, he was always competing with him. Hmph, this time, let us see if you can be this awesome! ¡°F*ck¡ F*ck!¡± Blair stared at Hughes, his mind blanked. Although he had enough confidence in his friend. But who would dare to think of SS-grade! In Blair¡¯s opinion, he would be happy to settle for a B-grade. After all, Hughes¡¯ family conditions were not as prestigious as others, and he couldn¡¯t compare with those big families that had received specialized training since young. When Hughes walked down, he was greeted with envious gazes. Hughes walked past them with a normal expression. With the help of the system, the second SS-grade magic talent had been awakened. If they knew that he had double SS-grade magic talent, they would probably be shocked! ¡°Blair, it¡¯s up to you!¡± Hughes walked to Blair¡¯s side and said to him. ¡°I don¡¯t care.¡± ¡°Anyway, I have you to protect me from now on!¡± Blair said with a cheeky smile. He was genuinely happy for his friend. ¡°System, check the attribute panel.¡± Just when he was on the awakening device, the attribute panel appeared. But at that time, Hughes didn¡¯t have the time to check. As soon as Hughes finished speaking, a virtual attribute panel appeared in his mind. [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Low-level Mage] [Magic Attribute: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Magic: None] As long as he had awakened elemental magic, he would be a low-level mage. In the future, he would have to rely on his own skill to slowly increase his level. Looking at the column of magic attributes, even though Hughes had a calm temperament, he could not help but smile. These ten years had indeed not been wasted. As time slowly flowed by, the awakening ceremony of class six had also come to an end. Other than Hughes who had awakened SS-grade, there was no SS-grade in the class of fifty people. There was not even an S-grade. An A-grade had unexpectedly appeared. It was none other than Hughes¡¯ deskmate and friend, Blair. Blair had awakened wind elemental magic. The sudden appearance of an SS-grade in the class had really delighted Bill. He had even begun to imagine that the school might reward him with a house. This was not impossible. A few years ago, Groton High School had an S-grade, and the school had rewarded him with a house. Now, Hughes had awakened an SS-grade talent. Even if the school did not reward them with a house, it wouldn¡¯t be much different. However, other than Hughes and Blair, only a few people had awakened a C-grade talent. And 31 people had not awakened elemental magic. Bill was already very satisfied with this result. Even the way he walked back was different. When he was about to reach the teacher¡¯s office, Hughes happened to see Cleveland leading the people from class five to the Hall of Awakening. ¡°Bill, what are you so happy about?¡± Cleveland looked at Bill¡¯s happy expression and could not help but mock, ¡°Is there only one awakening in the Class?¡± Cleveland and Bill usually had a lot of fights. Basically, they would always have a big fight when they met. If it was before, Bill would definitely have a big fight with Cleveland when he heard Cleveland¡¯s mocking words. But today was different, his student had done his best and awakened the SS-grade talent. Bill smiled and patted Cleveland¡¯s shoulder and said in a low voice, ¡°Cleveland, our class¡¯ Hughes has awakened the SS-grade talent. ¡°Cleveland, don¡¯t be envious. It¡¯s all fate!¡± After saying that, he did not care about Cleveland¡¯s expression. He raised his head and laughed loudly as he led Hughes and the others back to the classroom. ¡°SS-grade, SS-grade. This¡ how is this possible?¡± Cleveland¡¯s pupils constricted, and his lips began to tremble. As for the students of class five, all of them were envious. As soon as they returned to the classroom, Hughes was taken away. To the principal¡¯s office. A burly middle-aged man excitedly said to Hughes, ¡°Hughes is here. Come, come, come, sit!¡± This was the principal of St. Peter¡¯s High School, Nicholas. A powerhouse at the level of an archmage. This was the first time Hughes had seen the principal. Originally, Nicholas was very dignified and mysterious. Even some teachers rarely saw this principal. But now, the scene in the office made people think that Hughes was a leader. ¡°Hughes, I didn¡¯t expect you to awaken an SS-grade superpower.¡± After saying that, Nicholas couldn¡¯t help but burst into laughter. With this result, he could move up to another position. No wonder Nicholas was so excited. ¡°You really made me proud! ¡°Just now, we discussed it and decided to give you a reward.¡± Nicholas¡¯ words stunned Hughes for a moment. ¡°The school plans to give you 200,000 dollars. ¡°As for the honor, I still have to consult with the higher-ups. What do you think?¡± Ever since Hughes had awakened his SS-grade light magic talent, Hughes¡¯ status and significance had changed completely. Hughes nodded and did not say anything. Two hundred thousand dollars was not a small sum of money for both the school and Hughes. As for the honor, Hughes did not care. After all, it was just an empty title. Looking at Hughes¡¯ calm expression, Nicholas was slightly stunned before he said, ¡°According to the rules of the past years, anyone who has awakened an s-rank magic talent will be sent to the four great mage academies. ¡°And because you are an SS-rank, in a few days, the four great mage academies will definitely come over to take advantage of you. ¡°Do you have any academies that you have a preference for?¡± The four academies were the Rivandeo Academy of Magic, the Queensferry Academy of Magic, the Lach Academy of Magic, and the Paramus Academy of Magic. The four academies had a long history and had a deep foundation. These were the dream academies of countless low-level mages. Every year, countless people worked hard to get into the four academies. Moreover, those who could enter the four mage academies would be at the level of advanced mages after graduation. Many talented people could even advance to the level of a great mage. To countless low-level mages, the four great academies were the guarantee for status, wealth, and strength. In addition, there were also connections and a huge amount of resources that ordinary people could not even imagine. These were things that ordinary academies could not provide. Hughes was in a bit of a dilemma. The four great academies each had their own unique characteristics, so it was not easy for Hughes to choose. Moreover, he did not have much hope of attending the four great academies, so he did not know much about them. Therefore, Hughes looked at Nicholas and slowly said, ¡°Principal, which college do you think I should go to?¡± Chapter 4 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°I suggest you go to Lach Academy. ¡°Of the four magical academies, only the Lach Academy has an Archmage who specializes in light magic. ¡°It¡¯s not that the other academies aren¡¯t good, but the other magical academies are unable to help you with anything other than ordinary knowledge for mages. ¡°Lach Academy is different. They have an archmage who specializes in light magic. It will be helpful for your future magic lessons.¡± Listening to Nicholas¡¯ analysis, Hughes nodded thoughtfully. From this point of view, the Lach Academy of Magic was indeed suitable for him. ¡°This is only one of the reasons. Other than that, their Dean has a lot of forbidden light magic spells. You should know what a forbidden spell is!¡± ¡°As long as it has been released nothing can stop it.¡± ¡°Also, it is said that his granddaughter will also be there this time. ¡°So, you know!¡± Originally, Nicholas was still seriously explaining to Hughes, but when he said the last two sentences, Nicholas showed an expression that all men understood. Then, he even raised his eyebrows at Hughes. ¡°Of course, these are only suggestions. ¡°The choice is ultimately up to you.¡± ¡°These suggestions are very important to me,¡± Hughes said. Nicholas took out a box from the drawer in the table that he had prepared long ago and handed it to Hughes. ¡°These things are not valuable. Take it. Consider it a personal gift from me to you.¡± Hughes took a deep look at Nicholas and did not refuse. Nicholas was trying to be nice to him. And it was not a bad thing for him to have more connections. When Nicholas saw that Hughes had accepted it, he could not help but secretly let out a sigh of relief. SS-grade light magic talent was very rare. As long as Hughes could successfully graduate from the four great academies, he would at least be at the level of an archmage when he came out. In the future, as long as he did not seek death himself, he was very likely to become an archmage or even a sage. Such a terrifying existence, what was the price he had to pay? If he did not network now, it would be useless if he waited until he became a sage. Before leaving, Nicholas left his contact information to Hughes. He also told Hughes that as long as he was in Kyrenia, he could look for him if he needed anything. This made Hughes sigh. Sure enough, his magic talent had greatly increased his status. However, no one knew that Hughes had another SS-grade dark magic talent. The high school¡¯s classes ended at three in the afternoon. When he had left the principal¡¯s office, it was already three-thirty in the afternoon. Other than the classes that had yet to awaken, the rest of the classes had already ended. Therefore, Hughes did not stay any longer. He returned to the classroom, put on his backpack, and went home. Click~ Hughes inserted the key into the keyhole, turned it gently, and opened the door. Looking at the empty two-room house, Hughes shook his head and could not help but let out a sigh. His parents had died three years ago in the aftermath of a magical beast invasion of the city. Although he was already somewhat used to being alone, every time he looked at this empty house, there would always be a touch of sadness. ¡°Phew-¡± Hughes let out a long breath, then sat on the sofa and opened the box that Nicholas had given him. Inside the box were two books. The books were titled: ¡®Beginner-Level Mage Meditation Technique¡¯ and ¡®Chained Light Arrows¡¯. ¡°It¡¯s a meditation technique and chained light arrows?¡± Looking at these two books, Hughes was amused. The basic meditation technique was still alright, the value was not very high. After obtaining the mage certification, it could be obtained very easily. But the value of the chained light arrows was much higher! As light element magic was very rare, correspondingly, spells were also very rare. Spells of the same level were much more expensive than ordinary spells! This book, chained light arrows costs at least 400,000 dollars! ¡°Looks like the principal put in a lot of effort into this gift.¡± Hughes smiled slightly and opened the book of ¡®Beginner-Level Mage Meditation Technique¡¯. ¡®Mana is the energy that appears after a mana burst. Its composition is extremely complicated. Magical beasts can directly absorb and utilize this energy, while humans can only absorb mana after awakening elemental magic. The more magical energy one could control in one¡¯s body, the more powerful the spell they used would be! This book is meant to teach you how to absorb and strengthen magical energy¡¡¯ The beginning of the book explained the effects of the meditation technique. Hughes¡¯ eyes lit up as he continued flipping through the book. There was not much content in the book. He spent half an hour to finish flipping through the entire book. ¡°Phew-¡± Hughes exhaled and closed the book. ¡°I¡¯ve finished learning the theoretical knowledge. Now, it¡¯s time to put it into practice!¡± Meditation was the foundation of a mage¡¯s advancement. There was no room for carelessness. Therefore, Hughes spent three minutes organizing the meditation knowledge in his mind before he began to practice it. He slowly closed his eyes and immersed his consciousness into his spiritual sea. Then, he saw specks of mana in his sea of consciousness that was emitting green fluorescent light. The mana in his sea of consciousness was absorbed into his body when he awakened the light elements today. It was also the basis for him to become a mage! Taking a look at the mana particles in his sea of consciousness, Hughes did not hesitate too much. He directly began to absorb the surrounding mana according to the meditation method he learned from the book. Cluster~ Cluster~ Hughes only felt a soft sound as the energy flowed around him. Then, the mana light spots in his mind rapidly increased. ¡°Very good, that¡¯s it!¡± Feeling the abundant energy fill his body, Hughes was delighted in his heart and focused on meditation. In the outside world, six golden wings grew out of his back as he sat on the sofa. Then, green light surrounded his body. Together with his handsome face, he looked like a fairy. Time passed slowly, when Hughes felt that his spiritual side could no longer absorb the magic energy, he stopped meditating. ¡°It took an hour?¡± Glancing at the clock on the wall, Hughes muttered in a low voice. The absorption of magic energy was not unlimited. It had to do with the user¡¯s meditation technique and his magical talent. Using the basic meditation technique, he could continuously absorb mana for an hour. For most ordinary people, that might as well be asking them to ascend to heaven. Chapter 5 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Low-level mage (intermediate)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: None] [Magic: None] [Contracted magical beast: None] ¡°I¡¯ve advanced by a small rank, not bad.¡± Glancing at the attribute panel, Hughes smiled slightly and opened the book ¡®Chained Light Arrows¡¯ impatiently. The basic meditation technique was only the foundation of practicing, and chained light arrows was considered one the best mediums he could learn at the moment to unleash magical spells! Magic had levels ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 9, the higher the level, the stronger the power. After Tier 9, there was superposition magic. Similarly, superposition magic was also divided into Tier 1 to tier 9. The higher the level, the stronger the power. Other than that, there were also forbidden spells and great forbidden spells. These were super killer moves that were comparable to nuclear bombs. Of course, the book in Hughes¡¯ hands was only a very basic Tier 1 spell. Although it was only Tier 1, it was enough for Hughes to use for the time being. Learning magic was very boring, but for Hughes, who had just come into contact with magic for the first time, he was still enjoying it. Moreover, he let out a surprised cry of sudden realization. An hour later. ¡°So this is the structure of magic.¡± Hughes closed the book, his eyes shining brightly. As the most basic spell that mages had come into contact with, the content was very simple and easy to understand. The same was true for this book, which could not help but explain the structure of magic and explained much common knowledge of mages. Although he did not understand some of the principles, he was no longer a noob when it came to the release of magic. ¡°First, control the magic energy.¡± Hughes focused his mind and controlled the magic light spots in his spiritual mind. He was not very familiar with controlling the magic energy, as this was his first time. But after practicing for a while, he could skillfully control the magic light spots to arrange various shapes and lines. ¡®The magic manipulation part is successful. Next is the construction of the array.¡¯ Under the command of Hughes, the magic energy in the spiritual mind quickly gathered together. Soon, a profound array was outlined. The moment the array had formed, Hughes only felt a surge of energy from his body, wanting to release it! Subconsciously, Hughes raised his right hand. Buzz~ With a low hum, a profound formation appeared five centimeters away above his palm. The profound formation¡¯s diameter was about one centimeter big. It was inlaid with complex runes, and its entire structure flickered with threads of golden light! The next moment. A golden spear drilled out of the formation with terrifying momentum, then it attacked in the direction of Hughes¡¯ right hand! There was an LCD TV. ¡°Not good!¡± Hughes wanted to stop the spell, but it was too late. In the blink of an eye, the golden spear hit the LCD TV! Boom! With a muffled sound, the entire LCD TV exploded! Buzz~ Buzz~ A golden spear was inserted into the circuit board after the explosion, and it took a while to calm down. ¡°Gosh, this power is a bit too fierce!¡± Hughes looked at this scene in shock. If this had hit an ordinary person, they would have been blown to pieces! [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Low-level mage, (intermediate)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: None] [Magic: Chain Arrow of Light (beginner)] [Contracted magical beast: None] ¡°Since the chained light arrows appeared in the spell panel, it means that I have indeed learned this spell. ¡°But according to the description on the chained light arrows, if I want to successfully cast this spell, I need at least a hundred times of construction prior before I can successfully cast it. Why did I successfully cast it on the first time?¡± Glancing at the system interface once again, Hughes scratched his chin in puzzlement. But what he did not know was that SS-grade light element talent was not just unlimited potential. Just like the literal meaning, SS-grade learning talent. His SS-grade light element affinity had already determined that when he practiced all light element spells, he would be blessed by God! The next day, at St. Peter¡¯s High School. On the way to the class, countless students took the initiative to greet Hughes. Their words were filled with endless envy. ¡°Hughes, the four great academies¡¯ representatives are here.¡± Hughes went to his seat. Before he could sit down, his homeroom teacher, Bill, came over and said with a smile. ¡°So fast?¡± Hughes was a little surprised. He had just awakened yesterday, and now there were people here already? Hughes still underestimated the importance the four great academies placed on talents. Even the four great academies do not possess many SS-grade mages. One had to know that the students of the four great academies added up to more than 10,000. And these students were all carefully selected from all over the country. Even so, the four great academies added up to only a dozen SS-grade mages. In the principal¡¯s office, Hughes immediately recognized the four academic admissions teachers. He had no choice, their strength was much stronger than Nicholas¡¯. Faintly, they gave people a sense of oppression. After a series of introductions, Hughes had a rough understanding of the identities of the four people. The tall and slender woman, Kate, was from the Lach Academy of Magic. The short and capable, Jeremiah, was from the Rivandeo Academy of Magic. The strong and stout middle-aged, Barron, was from the Queensferry Academy of Magic. The oldest elder, Anziel, was from the Paramus Academy of Magic. The four admissions teachers were all archmages. With such strength, they could crush all the mages in Kyrenia. After all, the lord of Kyrenia was only at the archmage level. ¡°Hughes, you should already know our purpose at this time.¡± ¡°Do you want to hear our Lach Academy¡¯s conditions first?¡± Kate asked with a smile. ¡°Hughes, we won¡¯t say anything else.¡± ¡°As long as you come to the Queensferry Academy, the scholarship will be 1.5 million US dollars and a Tier 5 amplification spellbook.¡± Barron said with a pleasant expression. As soon as he said this, Nicholas¡¯ pupils shrank. These four great academies were generous! Amplification spells were not like ordinary spells. They were specifically used to improve oneself. They were priceless. Seeing that Hughes did not speak, Jeremy said, ¡°The conditions of the Rivandeo Academy and the Queensferry Academy are similar, but we will give you an additional tier 7 ordinary spell.¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes lit up, but he still did not say anything. The four of them were a little surprised to see Hughes so calm. If it were any other genius, they would have been excited to hear this. They did not expect Hughes to be so calm. For the time being, Hughe just wanted to take his time to appreciate this moment. Chapter 6 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Hughes, the conditions of the Paramus Academy are not as good as theirs.¡± ¡°But 1.2 million dollars and a Tier 5 spellbook can still be given to you.¡± ¡°In addition, we will also give you a four-year tuition waiver.¡± Anziel laughed as he looked at Hughes. ¡°You guys¡¡± Kate shook his head. Then he looked at Hughes and said, ¡°Hughes, their sincerity is not enough. I don¡¯t like to beat around the bush. I¡¯ll be frank with you about some things.¡± ¡°As long as you can come to Lach Academy of Magic, you can read all the books in the magic library. If you have the ability, you can also read the forbidden spells.¡± Hearing this, the other three looked at Kate in surprise. Although Hughes did not understand these things, he still knew about the magic library and forbidden spells. There was no bottleneck in the makings of a mage. What they usually lacked was knowledge. And the collection of books in one of the four great academies was a huge fortune. Nicholas calculated in his heart. He found that he could not calculate the sincerity of the Lach Academy because the collection of all the magic books in one academy was too huge. There was a legend that the magic books of the Four Great Magic Academies added up to half of the world¡¯s total magic. This condition was too big and too tempting. Although other schools could afford it. But if that was the case, it would be too unfair to other people with SS-grade magic talent. Moreover, if every person with SS-grade magic talent were to be given this, if something were to happen, even the four great magic academies would not be able to withstand it. On the other hand, Hughes was moved. He glanced at Kate from the corner of his eyes. Jeremy also glanced at Kate. Just as Hughes was about to speak, he suddenly said, ¡°Hughes, the Rivandeo Academy of Magic can also give the conditions of the Lach Academy!¡± As soon as Jeremy finished speaking, Nicholas was once again surprised. What was wrong with these people? Although SS-grade was rare, it was not unheard of. Was there a need to be like this? Kate¡¯s willow-like eyebrows furrowed slightly. This Jeremy was indeed not an easy person to deal with. Just as Kate was about to say something, Hughes¡¯s voice sounded. ¡°Teachers, there¡¯s no need to argue. I already have the answer in my heart!¡± Hughes looked at the people around him and said slowly. ¡°Oh?¡± Hearing Hughes¡¯s voice, the few of them turned to look at Hughes. Jeremy urged him anxiously. ¡°Hughes, speak! No matter which one you choose, we will support it.¡± Seeing Jeremy¡¯s impatient expression, Hughes no longer kept them in suspense. He immediately said, ¡°I choose the Lach Academy.¡± ¡°Teachers, I¡¯m sorry!¡± Although he was more inclined towards the Lach Academy, the other three academies had nothing to say to him, so he still had to have the proper etiquette. Hughes, who had lived two lifetimes, would not be arrogant just because the four great academies were fighting over him. If that was the case, he would not even know how he died. When these words were said, the surrounding people all looked at him with admiration. ¡°Mm, good. Neither servile nor overbearing. Polite and well-mannered,¡± Jeremy said in a deep voice. ¡°Calm and steady in the face of benefits, he has a good heart. His future is bright!¡± Barron roared. ¡°Kate, congratulations on getting such a good seedling.¡± Anziel turned his head and said to Kate with a smile. ¡°Hmph, I¡¯m not like you guys. All of you are so slow-witted and stingy.¡± Kate said faintly with a smile. ¡°Hmph, since you¡¯re so confident, I¡¯ll see you at the freshmen tournament.¡± Barron snorted coldly and left shortly after. ¡°Has Barron found a good seedling?¡± ¡°No, I have to hurry up and recruit students as well.¡± Jeremy¡¯s eyes rolled as he muttered to himself. Then, he left the principal¡¯s office with Anziel. At this point, the fight for Hughes had come to an end. Except for Kate, the other three had all left. After all, they had to go to other places to recruit students with SS-grade magic talent. In the principal¡¯s office, Bill and Nicholas looked at each other and began to feel emotional. Although the gap between them and Hughes would grow bigger and bigger in the future, when they thought about how promising their students were, both of them were happy from the bottom of their hearts. After watching the few of them leave, Kate took out a contract from her shoulder bag. ¡°Hughes, this is a special recruitment contract. Take a good look at it.¡± Looking at the contract that Kate handed over, Hughes took it and read it carefully. Kate looked at Hughes, who was studying the contract with his head down and couldn¡¯t help but mutter to himself. I need to read this carefully. If I didn¡¯t know better, I would have thought that they would trick me. Soon, Hughes finished reading the entire contract. He took a pen from the penholder on the desk in the principal¡¯s office and signed his name on the contract. The contract didn¡¯t have much binding force on Hughes. But there were a lot of benefits and some things to pay attention to. For example, the school¡¯s facilities for practicing magic, custom-made magical artifacts, and specially-recruited students had some free use times every month. These benefits brought some unexpected surprises to Hughes. After all, all of these could be done with a lot of money, and the current Hughes obviously did not have enough money to use them. Moreover, even the better magical universities in the province did not have free-use times. As expected, the four great universities had deep foundations. And this was only one of the many benefits. There were many other specific benefits. ¡°Hughes, this is a magic aura collector. You can record it.¡± Kate took out a lighter-sized small box from her shoulder bag and handed it to Hughes. Only after he had recorded his unique magic aura, would the contract be official. ¡°Alright, all the procedures have been completed.¡± ¡°Hughes, welcome to the Lach Academy of Magic class of 3012.¡± Kate put away one of the contracts and said with a smile. After saying that, Kate paused again and asked with a smile, ¡°By the way, can you tell me why you chose the Lach Academy of Magic?¡± This question made Kate very curious. In her opinion, Hughes did not agree because of the good conditions. Although the huge conditions might be part of the reason, it was definitely not because of this. But other than these, she could not think of anything else that could tempt Hughes. ¡°Because the Lach Academy of Magic has a lot of missions.¡± Hughes replied indifferently. This was the truth. Yesterday, when Hughes returned home, he especially learned about the situation of the four great academies. Then, he discovered that the Lach Academy had many more missions than the other three academies, and most of them were related to demon beasts. This was a great temptation for Hughes, who had the mage God system. After all, only by killing more monsters could one gain magic proficiency and increase their level. In addition, the Lach Magic Academy had an archmage with light magic, so this time it was naturally the Lach Magic Academy. Kate took a deep look at Hughes and said, ¡°You are a battle maniac. It seems that the Berserker in the school has an opponent this time.¡± ¡°Berserker?¡± Chapter 7 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Berserker?¡± Hughes asked curiously. ¡°It¡¯s nothing, you¡¯ll know when you go to school.¡± Kate stretched lazily and continued, ¡°Hughes, before you officially report, I¡¯ll be considered your teacher. So if you have any questions, you can contact me.¡± As Kate spoke, she gestured with her hand to make a phone call. Then she continued. ¡°I still have to go to other places to recruit students. Then I¡¯ll see you in San Pedro.¡± ¡°See you in San Pedro!¡± Hughes waved his hand and said. For Hughes, the college entrance examination credits were meaningless to him. In the meantime, Hughes had some preliminary plans in his mind. ¡°Hughes, your mage card has been processed.¡± After Kate left, principal Nicholas said. Then, a card about the same size as an ID card was handed to Hughes. On it was Hughes¡¯s magic level and his mage aura. In this world, a mage card was equivalent to an ID card. And with this card, Hughes had the qualifications to buy a magic staff and magic books, which only mages could buy. ¡°Thank you, Principal Nicholas.¡± Hughes took the mage card in front of him and said with a smile. This Nicholas was very good at doing things, and he was very efficient. It saved Hughes a lot of trouble. ¡°Also, regarding your honor, the higher-ups have already approved it.¡± ¡°The higher-ups have decided to appoint you as the honorary principal of St. Peter¡¯s High School.¡± Nichols continued talking after seeing Hughes take the Mage Card. ¡°What?¡± Hughes was shocked by Nicholas¡¯ sudden words. Although it was just an empty title, this title a little too generous. ¡°There¡¯s nothing bad about it. With your talent, Hughes, you deserve this honor. ¡°Moreover, I believe that in the future you will definitely be the pride of St. Peter¡¯s high school and even the entire Kyrenia.¡± Nicholas said these words from the bottom of his heart. When he heard Nicholas¡¯ heartfelt words, he no longer rejected them. Because if he rejected it like this, it would seem a little pretentious. ¡°Since that¡¯s the case, then thank you, Principal Nicholas.¡± ¡°Oh right, I wonder if principal Nicholas has any illustrations of wild demon beasts here.¡± Since he was going out of the city, he naturally had to be fully prepared. Although the internet in this world was much more developed than in his previous life, there was still much information that ordinary people were not qualified to understand. Hughes had searched for a long time last night but still could not find any information about this. ¡°What do you want this for?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t tell me you want to go out of the city!¡± Nicholas raised his eyebrows and asked Hughes suspiciously. ¡°No, I just want to understand it in advance so that I can be prepared in the future.¡± Hughes touched his nose and said. ¡°Yes, that¡¯s right. Wait a moment.¡± Nicholas opened a drawer and took out a handbook, then handed it to Hughes. ¡°Hughes, don¡¯t show this to others. ¡°Also, don¡¯t go out into the wild alone. ¡°The environment in the wild is very dangerous. If you get injured, it¡¯ll be troublesome. ¡°If you want to go out into the wild, I¡¯ll find a companion for you. ¡°If it really can¡¯t be done, you can tell me, and I¡¯ll bring you out. ¡°Moreover, although the monsters in the wild around our area aren¡¯t very strong, you still can¡¯t kill them at your current level.¡± Nicholas gave another reminder to Hughes. However, Hughes clearly did not take Nicholas¡¯ words to heart. This was because the main reason for leaving the city this time was to test his two spells. Therefore, Hughes would definitely not find someone to accompany him. If he brought someone out, not only would he not be able to achieve his goal, even his secret of having dark magic might be exposed. ¡ At the city gate of Kyrenia. The warm afternoon sun made people feel comfortable. Although the sunlight was still somewhat dazzling, there were still many people at the city gate. The most eye-catching part was the rows of dark green military camps. Over the years, almost all the demon beasts in the wild had been eliminated. There were basically only some low-level demon beasts left outside for some newly advanced low-level mages to practice with. Occasionally, a few mid-level demon beasts could be seen wandering in the wilderness. These mid-level demon beasts were especially left behind by the higher-ups. It could also be considered as a kind of alternative training. And these troops were only guarding the place where the low-level demon beasts were. Because if the mid-level demon beasts were used as training, then there would definitely be no one to rescue them. It was not that the higher-ups said that they were heartless and cold-blooded. After all, whether or not you go for training was your own choice, and it had nothing to do with others. Very soon, it was Hughes¡¯s turn to step forward. A soldier wearing a thermal weapon reached out to stop Hughes and said, ¡°Hello, please show me your mage certificate.¡± Hughes took out his mage certificate from his pocket and handed it to the soldier. The soldier placed the mage certificate on a device. Then, the device flashed with blue light and showed that it had passed the verification. Then, the soldier took the mage card and handed it to Hughes. He turned slightly and said, ¡°Thank you for your cooperation. You can go in now.¡± Seeing Hughes walk past him, the soldier could not help but take another look. Because Hughes was really young. Generally speaking, most of the people who went out into the wild were in their twenties, and there were even some in their thirties or forties. However, he rarely saw people of Hughes¡¯ age. That was why he could not help but take a few more glances. Very soon, Hughes left the city gates and arrived in the wild. ¡°I¡¯m finally outside!¡± After leaving the low-level demon beast protection zone, Hughes took a deep breath. After all, this was the first time he had left the city and entered the wild in more than ten years. However, the desolation that he remembered did not appear. Instead, it was because it was June that the ecological environment in the wilderness had become lush and leafy. However, the faint roars and cries of the beasts indicated that this place was not peaceful. The area that Hughes was currently in was located in the middle of the protection zone for low-level demon beasts and the depths of the wilderness. According to the map in Hughes¡¯s hands, he would be able to enter the depths of the wilderness if he traveled five kilometers north. Most of the demon beasts here were low-level demon beasts that were about to evolve into mid-level demon beasts. Hughes followed the directions on the map and headed north. However, he had not gone far when Hughes¡¯s first battle began. ¡°This is¡ a shovel-head rabbit?¡± Chapter 8 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Squeak squeak squeak!!!¡± A calf-sized shovel-headed rabbit was making an ear-piercing screech at Hughes. Although the screech did not cause any substantial damage to him, it still made Hughes very upset. Hughes recalled the introduction of the shovel-headed rabbit in the ¡®Demon Beast Manual¡¯ that the principal gave him yesterday. Shovel-headed rabbit! A low-level demon beast the size of a calf! It got its name because its head is shaped by a mutation that was very similar to a shovel. Its body was agile. Compared to ordinary demon beasts, its attack power was not to be underestimated. It did not have any special abilities. It only had the instincts of a mutated beast. Ordinary low-level mages needed to form a team to kill it. Although Hughes did not expect the battle to come so quickly, he was not afraid of it. ¡°Shovel-headed rabbit, right? ¡°Very good, today I¡¯ll use you to test the power of my chained light arrows.¡± Hughes snorted coldly and slowly spread his palm. A magic array quickly took shape in Hughes¡¯ hand. As the magic array quickly took shape, the golden light in the air gradually appeared. Soon, a golden light spear appeared in Hughes¡¯ palm. ¡°Whoosh!¡± A golden light flashed past and instantly pierced through the shovel-headed rabbit. The golden spear was still charging towards the shovel-headed rabbit¡¯s back. Rumble! Wherever the golden light passed, all the trees were pierced through and fell to the ground. After flying for an unknown distance, the golden spear finally stopped charging and slowly dissipated into the air. ¡°Woah! The power seems to be a little too strong! ¡°Could it be that the magic has succeeded? ¡°According to the power today, my house would have collapsed yesterday!¡± Looking at the power of the chained light arrows, Hughes was a little confused. [Ding, you have successfully killed the shovel-headed rabbit. Obtained 10 mana points.] A melodious mechanical voice sounded in Hughes¡¯ ears. Killing a demon beast, he could really obtain mana points. This was awesome! This was really f *cking awesome! Hughes¡¯ expression was filled with excitement as he opened the system¡¯s attribute panel. [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Low-level mage (intermediate)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: 10 points] [Magic: Chained light arrows (intermediate)] [Contracted demon beast: None] Hughes opened his attribute panel and observed carefully. Very quickly, he saw that his mana points had increased from none to 10 points. Moreover, he seemed to have found out why the power of the chained light arrows today had become so great. It was because the proficiency of the chained light arrows had leveled up. Recalling the tremendous power of the chained light arrows just now, Hughes did not hesitate to add all 10 mana points to his magic proficiency. Very quickly, the chained light arows¡¯ proficiency rose to a high level. Seeing that the chained light arrows¡¯ proficiency had risen to a high level, Hughes licked his lips, somewhat satisfied. Sure enough, the system still felt good! ¡ Half an hour later, Hughes encountered another demon beast. Because Hughes had already entered the depths of the wilderness. Therefore, the demon beast he encountered this time was a mid-level demon beast, the highland bat monkey. ¡°Mid-level demon beast?¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes focused. For a demon beast of this level, even if an ordinary mage were to form a team, it would be very risky. After all, this demon beast was mid-level, and it was the most agile highland bat monkey among all the mid-level demon beasts. However, Hughes was not worried at all. On the contrary, his face was full of fighting spirit. ¡°Just in time. I¡¯ll let you try my high-level spell!¡± Hughes said in a low voice as he slowly spread out his palm. A golden light began to gather rapidly in Hughes¡¯ hand. Soon, four golden spears were formed in Hughes¡¯ hand. Then, the four golden spears showed Hughes the reason why this spell was called chain arrow. ¡°Woosh! Woosh! Woosh!¡± Three rays of golden light sped towards the highland bat monkey. The highland bat monkey saw the golden light charging towards it and hurriedly jumped towards the other tree. However, the chain arrow of light was too fast. Even though the highland bat monkey managed to dodge it in time, its arm was still scratched by the chain arrow of light. ¡°Roar!¡± The highland bat monkey let out a painful howl. Its arm, which had been injured by the chain arrow, was now charred black. It looked extremely miserable. However, the charred wound did not make the highland bat monkey feel fear. Instead, it stimulated its ferocity. It roared and grabbed a handful of soil from the ground. Under the effect of its ability, the handful of soil turned into hard rock. Then, he threw the rock in the direction of Hughes. The rock made by the Highland Bat Monkey was not very big, but when the rock approached Hughes he finally saw the rock clearly. It was about the size of the shovel-headed rabbit that he had just attacked earlier. Seeing that the rock was about to hit Hughes¡¯ head, the highland bat monkey had already let out waves of cheers from the tree. However, three golden lights suddenly appeared and turned the rock into dust. Then, it charged in the direction of the highland bat monkey once again. Seeing that the three golden lights were about to arrive, the highland bat monkey jumped ahead of time and prepared to dodge. However, just as it jumped into the air this time, it was pierced by a golden spear. The golden spear was insanely fast and carried the monkey into the air. No one knew where it had flown to. Looking at the current situation, he dismissed the last golden spear in his hand. [Ding ~ successfully killed the highland bat monkey. Obtained 10 mana points] [Ding ~ obtained special reward: Tier 3 light spell, ¡®light sword of punishment¡¯] [Obtained mission: Kill 20 mid-level demon beasts or higher within two days] [Mission failure: No punishment] [Mission reward: Lorelei¡¯s secret tome] After hearing the system¡¯s notification sound, Hughes felt that there was an additional method to use light magic in his mind. However, he was still unable to use it at the moment because the mana in his sea of consciousness was not enough for the consumption of this tier 3 spell. Thus, the 10 mana points he had just obtained were directly added to his spiritual mind. Very quickly, he felt that his spiritual mind had become much larger than before, and it could also hold more mana. This kind of upgrade was really satisfying. If he were to follow the basic meditation technique, he would probably need to meditate ten times before his spiritual mind could become as big as it was now. But now, he had only killed one demon beast. ¡°Lorelei¡¯s secret tome! I¡¯m determined to get it! ¡°Isn¡¯t it just twenty demon beasts at mid-level? ¡°Let¡¯s do it!¡± Chapter 9 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation Time passed in a flash. Unbeknownst to him, the sky was already getting dark. Hughes wiped off the slightly warm blood on his face. His temperament had undergone a huge change compared to before. His gaze became more fierce, and his aura became more stable. His every movement carried a hint of killing intent. A day had passed, and Hughes had killed nineteen mid-tier demon beasts in a row. His battle experience had increased by quite a bit. His realm had also reached the level of an intermediate mage. The further he advanced, the slower his progress would be. But even so, reaching the level of an intermediate mage in a day was already scary enough. ¡°I still need one more. I still need a bit more experience to become an advanced mage.¡± Hughes looked at the highland centaur that had just been killed and shook his head slightly. He was already an intermediate high-level mage, but the spell that had dropped earlier still could not be used. Just a little bit more¡ But this tiny bit was like a layer of window paper. It felt impossible for Hughes to reach the next level. If others knew that Hughes had only used a day to advance from a low-level intermediate mage to a high-level intermediate mage, who knew how many people would die of jealousy. After all, to be able to go from a low-level intermediate mage to an intermediate high-level mage in just one month was already very impressive. And yet, Hughes was still living in bliss and did not know how to appreciate his blessings. Other than that, there was another thing that made Hughes feel pity. That was, he had rushed out without preparation. He did not even bring a backpack, and he had already come out into the wild. After all, the demon beasts that he had killed today were all full of treasures! Bones, flesh, fur, these were all good things. In the city of Kyrenia, these things were very popular and worth a lot of money. But because he didn¡¯t bring his backpack, he didn¡¯t get anything. The loss of a large sum of wealth made Hughes depressed. Fortunately, his magic had healing effects, so he didn¡¯t need to buy some recovery potions. Otherwise, he would lose a lot of money this time. After all, other people would buy recovery potions and all kinds of life-saving potions in advance when they came out. Then, after the demon beasts were exhausted, they would collect bones, flesh, and fur to sell. ¡°Howl!¡± The Cry of a demonic flame wolf rang out. Immediately, Hughes was overjoyed. Then, he ran to the source of the sound and carefully approached his prey. Soon, Hughes arrived at his destination. He found a bush in a small area and looked in the direction of the demonic flame wolf. He saw that the group of people who were confronting the demonic flame wolf had suffered heavy casualties. The scene in front of him was filled with broken bones and blood splattered across the floor. ¡°Cecil, didn¡¯t you say that you were a team that specialized in bringing new people? ¡°Why are so many people dying now?¡± A skinny man asked loudly. ¡°Trash, shut your mouth. If you didn¡¯t insist on coming here, would we have suffered such heavy casualties?¡± Cecil replied sternly. ¡°Alright, stop arguing. The most important thing now is how to escape from this tier 3 demonic flame wolf.¡± ¡°Little b*tch, what does it have to do with you? F*ck you, do you think we don¡¯t know?¡± The skinny man cursed. The woman who had just been scolded fell silent, but a fierce light flashed in her eyes. Soon, the demonic flame wolf had prepared itself. It grabbed the opportunity of them fighting and charged towards the woman who had been silent just now. However, the woman did not panic. She was extremely focused. Just as the demonic flame wolf was about to bite her, she turned her body slightly and the demonic flame wolf charged towards the skinny man. ¡°Ah!¡± A heart-wrenching scream sounded. The skinny man¡¯s thigh was instantly bitten off. ¡°F*ck you b*tch, you will die a horrible death, you¡¡± The skinny man wanted to say something, but he could never say it again because the demonic flame wolf had already bitten off his throat. Seeing the skinny man¡¯s death, the rest of the people felt a chill in their hearts and silently moved further away from the woman. Seeing that everyone had moved further away from her, she said, ¡°In this situation, don¡¯t tell me you still think that we can kill this demonic flame wolf! ¡°That¡¯s why survival is the most important right now.¡± After saying that, she took advantage of the fact that the demonic flame wolf didn¡¯t pay attention to her for the time being and quickly escaped from this place. When everyone saw that she had escaped, they also wanted to leave. But the demonic flame wolf turned around. And the words that the woman said before she left also took root in everyone¡¯s hearts. Everyone silently left the people around them, no longer united. Looking at the people who were no longer united, Cecil knew that they might not be able to return alive this time. In a short while, these wandering soldiers were broken by the demonic flame wolf one by one, and then their necks were bitten off. In the entire low-level mage team, apart from that woman, no one was left alive. At this time, Hughes, who had just hidden in the bushes, pulled aside the leaves and walked out. Hughes looked at the corpses on the ground with a cold expression. Hughes had wanted to go out and save them, but these people had already fallen apart. If Hughes went out at that time, not only would he not be able to kill the demonic flame wolf, but he would also be held back by these people. There was another reason. He had just determined that the demonic flame wolf should have advanced to the realm of a high-level monster. With his current mid-level and high-level combat strength, he might have to fight hard for a while. He might even have to use the power of dark magic. But now, no one could hold him back, and no one could discover the secret of his dark magic. So today, this demonic flame wolf was going to be the last step for Hughes to obtain Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. After killing so many monsters today, there was not a single book about the dark magic that dropped. Now, Hughes could only use the most basic ability of dark magic. That was to increase the attack power of other magic attributes. As the power of dark magic was released, Hughes raised two fingers and raised his arm. Then, more than ten golden spears covered in black appeared behind him. As the spears behind him slowly took shape, Hughes¡¯s two fingers slightly pointed forward. All the golden spears covered in black were like arrows leaving the bow, rushing towards the demonic flame wolf. ¡°Woosh! Woosh! Woosh!¡± The golden spears that were stained with black whistled past Hughes¡¯ ears. The demonic flame wolf looked at the golden spears that were stained with black light and did not know what to do. Because those spears were like tens of thousands of arrows, he did not even have a place to hide. Very quickly, the demonic flame wolf that was standing at the same spot was stabbed by the golden spears and resembled a hedgehog by the end of the ordeal. [Ding ¡ª Congratulations, host, for killing the demonic flame wolf. You have obtained 15 mana points] [Ding ¡ª you have obtained a special reward: Tier 3 dark magic, ¡®blindness¡¯] [Congratulations, host, for completing the mission. You have obtained: Lorelei¡¯s secret tome] Chapter 10 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation An hour later, Hughes returned to the city. Although it was only a day, Hughes still felt like it was a lifetime ago. Danger lurked in the wild, the city was peaceful, and there were lights everywhere. All of this gave Hughes a surreal feeling. The next day. After a good night¡¯s sleep, Hughes felt like all the tiredness from yesterday had been swept away. In the next few days, Hughes planned to skip school. Because there were only a few days left before the college entrance examination, it was not very meaningful for him to go back to school. Instead, he might as well study how to improve himself and then report to the Lach Academy of Magic in advance. After casually making some food and eating, Hughes began to study a purple magic book beside him. There were no words in this book, it was completely blank. Initially, Hughes wanted to figure out how to use this thing on his own, but he tried many times and failed. Helplessly, he could only open the attribute panel. [Host: Hughes] [Realm: High-level mage (Low-level)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: None] [Magic: Chained light arrows (intermediate), light sword of punishment (beginner), ignorance (beginner)] [Contracted Magical Beast: None] [Magic Tool: Lorelei¡¯s secret tome] He clicked on Lorelei¡¯s secret tome in the magic tool panel. [Lorelei¡¯s secret tome: You can draw a magic array on it and charge it. It will release magic. There is no upper limit to the magic array that can be drawn on to Lorelei¡¯s secret tome] [Note: Do not damage it, do not give it away, do not rob it] ¡°Oh? Is that so?¡± After reading the system¡¯s introduction, Hughes picked up Lorelei¡¯s secret tome with more questions than before. Looking at Lorelei¡¯s secret tome in his hands, Hughes flipped to the first page. Then, according to the few magic arrays in his mind, he began to use magic power to draw on them. Soon, the magic arrays were finished. Looking at the finished pages, Hughes tried to add magic power into Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. But Lorelei¡¯s secret tome did not appear to have changed. Instead, he used up all the magic power in his mind. Hughes didn¡¯t believe it, he immediately began to meditate and recover his magic power. An hour later, Hughes finished recovering his magic power. Then, he started pouring mana into Lorelei¡¯s secret tome again. Unfortunately, this time, he still did not fully fill Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. Not believing it, Hughes kept repeating his actions into Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. ¡ After an unknown amount of time, Hughes finally felt the terror of Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. Because he had already poured it in no less than 20 times, but Lorelei¡¯s secret tome was still not saturated. Therefore, he gave up. He could not hold on any longer. For a full 24 hours, he did not do anything but meditate. Then, he injected his mana into Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. But now, he was not very sleepy because he spent most of the time yesterday in meditation. ¡°Ring, ring!¡± Just when Hughes wanted to go out of the city to test the power of Lorelei¡¯s secret tome, the phone suddenly rang. ¡°Ms. Kate?¡± Hughes took the phone and asked. On the other end of the phone, Kate said, ¡°Hughes, have you read the information I sent you? It hasn¡¯t been leaked, right?¡± ¡°Information?¡± Hughes was slightly stunned when he heard Kate¡¯s words. ¡°Yes, it¡¯s about the route of your trip. Take a look in advance.¡± ¡°Didn¡¯t you receive it?¡± Kate asked, puzzled. In the past few days, Hughes had either been out killing demon beasts or working on Lorelei¡¯s secret tome. How could he have time to look at his phone. After hearing Kate¡¯s words, Hughes opened his email and saw the route Carter had mentioned. ¡°You! You must pay attention to the combination of work and rest during cultivation.¡± ¡°You must not overwork yourself, Greece wasn¡¯t built in a day.¡± Kate reminded him over the phone. ¡°Okay, I got it, Ms. Kate.¡± ¡°Ms. Kate, I plan to go to the Lach Academy tomorrow.¡± As soon as Hughes finished speaking, Kate was suddenly delighted. Then she said, ¡°This is a good thing. After all, that place in Kyrenia is too backward. You won¡¯t be able to get a good promotion anywhere.¡± ¡°After you arrive at the Lach Academy of Magic, you can directly report to the dormitory. I¡¯ll contact you when I return to the Lach Academy of Magic.¡± Then, the two of them chatted for a while before hanging up. After hanging up, Hughes looked at the route map that Kate had sent him. It turned out that the high-speed train to the Lach Academy of Magic was through the wilderness. Although the high-speed rail had already avoided most of the places where demon beasts roamed, there were still some blind demon beasts that would crash into it during the journey. In order to prevent these specially recruited students from dying at the feet of the demon beasts, the Lach Academy of Magic had specially opened up a safe route. However, this route had been secretly created, so only the people from the Lach Academy of Magic could use it. The reason why it was not allowed to be leaked was probably that the Lach Academy of Magic did not want to argue with ordinary people or the higher-ups. Hughes quickly memorized the road map and then deleted it. The next day, the high-speed railway station in Kyrenia. This was an important transportation hub that connected most of the regions. The daily flow of people reached tens of thousands! Therefore, the security around was very strict. There were rows of soldiers with guns that were patrolling back and forth. Above the high-speed railway station, a rune that was emitting a huge energy wave was standing on it. It was a magical scanning eye built by a high-level mage. It could scan the real identities of everyone in the station. Even if there were mimicry beasts mixed in, they would issue a warning immediately! On the other side, Hughes, who had entered the high-speed railway station, began to queue up to enter the train. Through the glass, he could see the huge train that was parked on the tracks outside. The train was about two to three hundred meters long. Its entire body was black, and its surface was plated with a metallic luster. Among them, the most eye-catching parts were the head and tail of the train. On both sides of the train, there were huge triangular alloy supports made of sharp blades! If one looked carefully, one could see the mysterious runes and traces of blood surrounding the sharp blades. That was the high-speed rail¡¯s unique railhead. It was specifically used to deal with demonic beasts blocking the middle of the track. Chapter 11 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation This extremely solid and special locomotive, coupled with the terrifying speed of the train, made it feel like a huge meat grinder. Any demon beast that dared to block the way would be mercilessly crushed into minced meat. Even some lord tier demon beasts dared not to test their luck against the train. Unfortunately, this train could not be widely promoted because the cost of it was very high. Other than the four great academies, which were wealthy organizations, there were basically no other organizations in the entire country that could afford it. Moreover, not only was the cost of making it high but the cost of cleaning and maintaining it was also frighteningly high. Other than these, there were also various magical arrays engraved on the locomotive and the body of the train. It also could be said that the entire body of the train was made of money and magic. Of course, the usage of this kind of train amounted to a very high cost. Because it needed to maintain the magical arrays on the locomotive and the body of the train, the kinetic energy of the train was all provided by magic cores. In the current market, the cheapest magic core of elemental beasts costs 30,000 dollars each. The fare of this kind of train was different. According to the mileage, the number of magic cores consumed was also different. But even so, the cheapest high-speed train ticket still costs 3000 dollars each way. If it was a passenger like Hughes who had a mileage of more than 100 kilometers, even after using the student discount of the Lach Academy, he still had to spend 7000 dollars. But even so, many people wanted to buy one. The structure of the locomotive was very simple. Hughes could understand it at a glance. The most important thing was the magic circle on the locomotive to maintain the start of the train and the defensive mechanisms. But the magic circle was too mysterious. Hughes could not understand it for a while. Therefore, he stopped paying attention to it after looking at it for a while. Then, he focused on queuing up. Although there were many people queuing up, the speed of the inspection was very fast. In less than a few minutes, it was Hughes¡¯ turn. The inspection procedure was a mechanical inspection. It was very simple, as long as you put your mage card on it, it would be fine. ¡°Beep! Identity verification was successful. Welcome respected mage!¡± The sound of the machine rang out, and the people around were slightly stunned. They all turned to look at Hughes. Seeing that Hughes was so young, the people did not pay much attention to him. From what they knew, he was young and without a magic staff, so he should be a mage who had just awakened. Ignoring the gazes of others, Hughes calmly dragged his suitcase and walked onto the train. The train was no different from the high-speed train in his previous life. Hughes quickly found his seat, put his suitcase away, and returned to his seat. ¡°Squeak squeak!¡± Just as Hughes sat down, the sound of an animal attracted his attention. Hughes turned to look in the direction of the sound. It was a tall girl with long purple hair. She held a magic staff that was about the height of a person in her right hand. On her left shoulder stood a purple hamster that was about the size of a palm. It had smooth purple fur that was slightly shiny. In addition to its round and chubby appearance, its small eyes made it look very cute. ¡°A demon beast?¡± ¡°No, it is contracted beast.¡± Hughes took another look at the hamster on the girl¡¯s shoulder. The thought in his heart became more certain. A mage could contract some demon beasts to assist in battle. Of course, a creature like a purple hamster would not be his first choice, but that seemed normal for female mages. Basically, most female mages would contract some non-aggressive and cute demon beasts as pets after they had contracted a battle-type demon beast. After all, the level of these non-aggressive and cute demon beasts was not very high, and the amount of mana they spent was almost negligible. ¡°I wonder what kind of demon beast the Lach Academy will give me when I arrive?¡± Hughes thought with some anticipation as he retracted his gaze. As one of the battle techniques of mages, contract beasts were an indispensable part of it. Because the body of a mage was not much stronger than that of most ordinary people, contract beasts were needed to make up for this shortcoming. A powerful contracted beast would protect its master from being hurt or disturbed during the battle. Sometimes, a contract beast could even take charge to deal with the enemy and reduce the pressure on the mage. As the top academy in the entire country, the contracted beasts given by the Lach Academy would definitely not be too bad, not to mention that they would be tamed by Hughes himself. ¡°It would be best if they are like the blood dragon steel striped wolf and the purple thunder xikun lion, which have their own elements and have a high growth rate.¡± The blood dragon steel striped wolf and the purple thunder xikun lion were among the stronger demon beasts of the same level. They were very suitable for Hughes¡¯s needs for demon beasts. As a light elemental mage, he was not very afraid of getting hurt. Moreover, he did not need to use Lorelei¡¯s secret tome, but the process of casting spells by heart was too slow. Therefore, a strong offensive demon beast was what Hughes desperately wanted. ¡°Hello, can you let me have a seat? My seat is beside yours.¡± A clear and melodious voice interrupted Hughes¡¯s fantasy. He turned his head and saw that it was the girl who had just gotten into the car. She was holding a staff and had a hamster on her shoulder. ¡°What a coincidence!¡± Seeing that it was this girl, Hughes was slightly surprised. He immediately reacted and stood up to let her walk in. During this time, the purple hamster on her shoulder kept squeaking. ¡°Sorry, my purple electric mouse is a little shy.¡± The girl showed an apologetic expression and explained. ¡°It¡¯s okay.¡± Hughes smiled slightly. The purple electric mouse¡¯s voice was not loud, so it did not affect him much. Moreover, he put on his headphones and prepared to meditate again after the car set off. ¡°Are you a mage too?¡± Sensing that Hughes would not mind, she asked him curiously. She could feel a very thick magical aura radiating from Hughes¡¯s body. ¡°Yes, I just awakened a few days ago,¡± Hughes replied with a smirk. ¡°You just awakened a while ago!?¡± The girl was a little surprised and a little shocked. She could feel that the magical aura on Hughes¡¯s body was not at the level of a low-level mage, but at the level of a high-level mage. And it was only a few days after the day of the Magic Awakening. This meant that this somewhat handsome boy in front of her had broken through two major realms in just a few days! Compared to him, her face instantly turned red. Because when she was at home, she was still smug about advancing to an intermediate mage in just a few days. But now that she saw Hughes, she blushed with shame when she thought back to the praise she got from her friends at home. Chapter 12 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation However, she quickly adjusted herself and smiled sweetly. She said softly, ¡°So you are also one of the magicians who had just awakened. Hello, my name is Anna. Nice to meet you!¡± Anna was very willing to meet a mage who was even more talented than her. Not to mention a young mage like Hughes, who was both talented and handsome. ¡°Hughes.¡± Hughes nodded slightly and said with a faint smile. ¡°Hughes? You¡¯re Hughes?¡± ¡°Is there a problem?¡± Hughes looked at the shocked Anna and asked in confusion. ¡°No, no, I¡¯m just too shocked. I heard that during the awakening ceremony this time, St. Peter¡¯s High School in Kyrenia had a magician with SS-grade light magic talent, and he was directly sent to Lach Academy. ¡°I didn¡¯t expect to see him in person. I¡¯m a little excited!¡± ¡°Well, if St. Peter¡¯s high school in Kyrenia didn¡¯t have a second SS-grade light magic talent, then it would be me.¡± Hughes touched his nose and said in embarrassment. After all, this was the first time he had met a fangirl in his life. Am I that famous now? ¡°Haha, it¡¯s so interesting to talk to you. ¡°You have no idea how famous you are now. Even Helsinki city, which is very far away from you, I have heard about you.¡± After Anna confirmed that the person in front of her was Hughes, she smiled and became active. ¡°Even Helsinki city has heard about me?¡± Hughes was a little surprised. It would not be strange if someone in Kyrenia knew him, but now, even the city of Helsinki, which was hundreds of kilometers away from Kyrenia, had heard of him. ¡°Then it must be heavily publicized. You are the only mage in our state who has awakened a rare magical talent at SS-grade level in the past seven to eight years. It is only natural that you should be heavily publicized.¡± Anna touched the purple electric mouse on her shoulder and smiled. ¡°Then you will also go to the Lach Academy to report in advance like me!¡± ¡°Well, since I have nothing to do during the holidays, I might as well go to the academy to report in early.¡± Hughes said with a calm expression. ¡°You also arrived at the academy first because of the freshmen tournament, right?¡± Anna asked after thinking for a moment. ¡°Freshmen tournament? I only heard about it from Ms. Kate, but I didn¡¯t ask about it in detail.¡± ¡°Ah? You didn¡¯t know?¡± Anna stared at Hughes, who was sitting opposite her, and then said again, ¡°Then why did you come so early?¡± ¡°It¡¯s better to have mage training in the academy than to be at home alone. ¡°Besides, there are teachers and all kinds of senior mages in the school.¡± ¡°Well, compared to you, I am indeed a waste,¡± Anna said dejectedly. ¡°¡¡± However, Anna quickly adjusted her emotions and enthusiastically told Hughes about the freshmen tournament. ¡°The freshmen tournament is a competition between freshmen who have just entered the school. Those with good results will get some magical artifacts and magic points. ¡°Those with poor results may have fewer resources. ¡°I¡¯m going to the Lach Academy in advance so that I wouldn¡¯t be left behind by others in the freshmen tournament.¡± After listening to Anna¡¯s understanding of the freshmen tournament, Hughes nodded his head and thanked her. Then, the two of them discussed some questions about the Lach Academy and continued chatting casually. As the two of them chatted, they talked about the teaching methods of the Lach Academy of Magic, the differences between the instructors in the academy, and whatnot. Then, they talked about some knowledge about demon beasts. Hughes was not a boring person to begin with, so as he spoke, Anna beamed with joy. Just like that, the two of them chatted for more than two hours. When Anna was a little tired, they ended the conversation and fell into a deep sleep. As for Hughes, he took out his headphones and put them on, focusing on listening to the songs. The name of the current song was courage. It had only become popular recently. It was said that it was sung by a little girl who was in the same class as Hughes. She had just graduated a while ago, so Hughes did not know anything else. As he listened to the melodious song, Hughes sank his consciousness into his spiritual mind and began practicing his control of mana. Because he had previously discovered that when he was carving the magic array, the mana consumption was very high. Therefore, he wanted to practice his control of mana more. Moreover, the benefits of practicing more mana control were not limited to these. If he could control mana well, then the speed of carving the magic array would also be much faster. The journey from Kyrenia to the Lach Academy of Magic was about eight hours. Besides the time spent chatting with Anna in the beginning, all the remaining time was used by Hughes to carry out mana control training. Although mana control would not consume mana, it would still consume Hughes¡¯ spiritual power. Therefore, every once in a while, Hughes would stop to rest. He would wait until his spiritual power was full again before starting the next training. During the next training, apart from feeling that his control over mana was getting stronger, he also felt that his spiritual power had become stronger. In the beginning, he could only control mana for a maximum of fifty minutes at a time. But now, he could already control mana for more than an hour at a time. ¡ ¡°The final stop of this train, San Pedro, is about to arrive. All passengers, please get ready to get off the train.¡± The train¡¯s warning tone mixed with music entered Hughes¡¯s ears. After hearing the sound, Hughes ended the training in his mind. He opened his eyes and his consciousness returned to reality. After opening his eyes, Hughes looked at the desolate scenery outside, allowing the afterglow of the setting sun to shine on his body. Soon, Hughes could vaguely see a large number of city buildings in front of him. This was San Pedro. It was also the city where the Lach Academy of Magic was located. It was said that the Lach Academy of Magic had half of the campus in the entirety of San Pedro. It was just that the Lach Academy of Magic had opened several different branches. Anna had told Hughes this when they were chatting earlier. According to her, Hughes should be at the Lach Academy in San Pedro. And the Lach Academy she applied for was in the remote Lach Academy campus. ¡°Huh? Are we there yet?¡± Anna said as she got up from her sleep. Chapter 13 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Not yet, but we¡¯re about to arrive at the station.¡± Looking at Anna, who was still a little sleepy, Hughes found it funny. This girl had been sleeping since the end of their conversation. She only woke up when the high-speed train was about to enter the station. During the high-speed train¡¯s journey, who knew how many demon beasts had been killed and how much the train shook from the disturbances. However, none of them could wake her up. Based on the quality of her sleep, Hughes had no choice but to accept it. The train sounded before it arrived at San Pedro. ¡°Chi!!¡± The sound of the high-speed train braking on the tracks was heard, and then the entire train slowly came to a stop. ¡°The train has arrived at San Pedro City. Please line up and get off the train in an orderly manner.¡± Following the train¡¯s announcement, Anna and Hughes got off the high-speed train. ¡°Is this San Pedro?¡± Hughes, who got off the train, swept his gaze across the entire train station. The train station in San Pedro was extremely noisy, with ordinary passengers carrying bags, soldiers wielding weapons, and mages holding magic staffs. As one of the four great academies was here, the train station in San Pedro was extremely noisy. Other than that, there was a huge disc on the top floor of the train station exuding a mysterious aura. After looking at it for a while, Hughes realized that this disc and the magic array on the train behind it probably originated from the same source. Although he did not know what it was used for, Hughes felt that this thing was a high and mighty device. ¡°As expected of the city where one of the four academies is located. There are so many mages.¡± Looking, Hughes could not help but praise them. Just as he was sweeping his gaze, he saw no less than twenty mages. Among them, there were quite a number of mages who were exuding strong auras. ¡°Hughes, I want to take subway no. 5. Which number are you taking?¡± Anna turned her head and asked Hughes. ¡°Subway no. 1.¡± Before coming to San Pedro City, he had already figured out how to get to the campus. ¡°No. 1! Then we would be separated.¡± Anna frowned slightly, then she relaxed. ¡°Then, Hughes, let¡¯s go our separate ways now. In the future, if you want to play with me, you can come to the Lach Academy of Magic on the east side of the city. I¡¯ve been assigned there.¡± ¡°Okay.¡± Hughes smiled and nodded. As mentioned before, the Lach Academy had many campuses in the entirety of San Pedro City, but there was only one campus on the east side of the city. The campus on the east side of the city could be considered the best campus other than the main campus of the Lach Academy. ¡°Goodbye!¡± Anna waved her hand, then carried the purple electric mouse on her shoulder and left. Seeing Anna leave, Hughes did not stay any longer. He dragged his suitcase and walked towards subway no. 1. The privilege of a mage was reflected in every place. Even if one took the subway, it was the same. Hughes paid a small fee to take subway no. 1 to the academy. It was about an hour¡¯s journey from San Pedro¡¯s train station to Lach Academy of Magic. If one took the subway, it would take about thirty minutes. Soon, the arrival notice on the subway rang. ¡°Lach Academy of Magic station, here we are. Please get off in an orderly manner.¡± Upon hearing this voice, Hughes dragged his suitcase and walked toward the exit of the subway. The gate was made of an unknown material made of jade. The words ¡°Lach Academy of Magic¡± were written on it. They were glistering under the sunlight. Standing under the door, Hughes, who was one meter tall, felt as if he had come to the giant kingdom. He was very small. Under the door was the passage to the academy. The passage was very wide. Hughes estimated that it could probably accommodate almost ten cars! The people who entered and exited the doors were mostly young and beautiful students. Some of them even held a magic staff. Other than that, there were also school teachers who looked very strong. ¡°As expected of the top mage university in the country. Just the gate alone is so magnificent.¡± Hughes sighed and looked into the school. Behind the gate was a square. Other than that, there were a lot of buildings. In the furthest distance of the school, one could vaguely see a magnificent church standing inside. ¡°The school also includes a church. What¡¯s going on?¡± Hughes was slightly stunned, then shook his head and walked into the school. ¡°Junior, are you here to report for duty?¡± Hughes, who was looking around the school, suddenly smelled a fragrance, and then a voice rang in his ear. Hughes raised his head and looked forward. The first thing he saw was a baseball cap with letters on it. Under the baseball cap was a handsome oval face. Those willow-like eyebrows and big eyes seemed to have a starry sky, looking at the fragile skin and devilish figure, even Hughes, who had reincarnated, could not help but be surprised. This girl¡¯s appearance was out of this world! ¡°Yes!¡± Hughes returned to his senses and replied. The girl was also sizing up Hughes. Her fair and smooth face had a sharp and cold look. Her thick eyebrows were slightly raised in rebellion. Her dark and deep ice-cold eyes appeared wild and unrestrained, and she looked demonic and sexy. The two of them stared at each other for a while. After all, she was a little girl. After looking at each other for a while, her face became rosy. ¡°Come with me. I¡¯ll bring you to report directly. You Don¡¯t have to wait outside like them!¡± Hearing the whispers in his ears, Hughes clapped his ears and heard the second half of the sentence clearly. ¡°It seems she said that I don¡¯t have to wait here! That¡¯s good!¡±Hughes muttered in his head and followed quickly. After another round of procedures, they were assigned to the dormitory. Finally, they reached the place after many twists and turns. ¡°Junior, this is the place!¡± ¡°Are you sure this is the dormitory?¡± Hughes said, pointing at the big villa in front of him. The senior smiled and said, ¡°The time of a mage is precious, let alone someone like you who is specially recruited! ¡°You will know in the future. Your only task during university time is to become stronger, constantly becoming stronger! ¡°For the school, for the country, and also for yourself! So some ordinary matters are not worth your time!¡± ¡°I see. Thank you so much, senior. I¡¯ll treat you to a meal next time!¡± Hughes replied with a smile. ¡°My name is Alice. You must remember it. Then¡ I¡¯ll leave first. Bye!¡± Seeing Hughes¡¯ssmile, the senior blushed again, waved her hand, and left in a hurry. While she was leaving, she just remembered that she had forgotten to ask Hughes for his contact information¡ Chapter 14 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation At first, Hughes heard that the students and teachers of the Lach Academy of Magic occupied one-seventh of the total area of the academy. He did not know why. But when he passed through the villas, he instantly understood the reason. After sighing with emotion, Hughes entered the villa in front of him. As the villa¡¯s door was half-open, Hughes did not use a key and directly pushed the door open. After entering the interior of the villa, Hughes had a panoramic view of the entire first floor of the villa. Sofa, television, coffee table¡ The furnishings in the living room were the same as the furnishings of an ordinary person¡¯s home. It was just the room that looked a little luxurious. Just as Hughes was about to find a place to sit for a while, a tall man walked out from the room on the left. When the tall man walked out of the room and found that there was someone in the living room, he was slightly stunned. When he saw the suitcase in Hughes¡¯s hand, he reacted and went forward to help take the suitcase. Then he said, ¡°You must be my roommate. Hello, my name is Otis, and I¡¯m a fire magician.¡± ¡°Hughes, I¡¯m a light magician.¡± Hughes nodded slightly. ¡°You¡¯re actually a light magician. Looks like I¡¯m quite lucky to be able to share a room with a rare magician.¡± ¡°This villa has a total of two floors. The facilities and equipment on these two floors are almost the same.¡± ¡°Because I came earlier, I¡¯ll stay on the first floor. You can have the second floor.¡± ¡°But if you want to stay on the first floor, you can have it.¡± Otis looked very tall, but he was surprisingly easy to talk to. ¡°No need, I¡¯ll stay on the second floor!¡± Although Otis was easy to talk to, Hughes was not the kind of person who liked to take advantage of others. After saying that, Hughes carried his suitcase and walked straight to the second floor. The entire second floor of the villa was about 300 square meters. Moreover, it was specially equipped with a lounge, a recreation room, and a cultivation room. ¡°Not bad, not bad.¡± After walking around, Hughes was extremely satisfied. Although it was said to be a two-person dormitory, it was actually not much different from a single room. Moreover, the supporting facilities here were really too complete. The cultivation room¡¯s surroundings were all made of alloy. And the ceiling was very high. After casually tossing his luggage aside, Hughes laid down on the sofa in the hall. What surprised him was that even the sofa was a massage sofa. After lying down for a while, Hughes tidied up a little before walking down the stairs. At this moment, Otis was eating snacks on the sofa downstairs. ¡°Otis.¡± After saying hello, Hughes walked over. ¡°Do you know where we can collect our specially recruited contract beasts?¡± ¡°I know, it¡¯s right next to the teaching building 4. There¡¯s a place that specializes in selling demon beasts.¡± After saying that, Otis handed over the potato chips in his hand. ¡°Do you want to eat? The latest flavor of potato chips tastes pretty good.¡± ¡°Next to teaching building no. 4? I¡¯ve got it.¡± While reaching out for the potato chips, Hughes recalled the map he had seen before and memorized the approximate location. ¡°These potato chip tastes pretty good.¡± After eating a mouthful of potato chips, Hughes was slightly surprised. He usually did not eat snacks, so he had not expected it to taste so good. ¡°Of course.¡± Otis chuckled and said, ¡°Are you going to collect your contracted demon beast? Do you want me to come with you? I have nothing to do anyway.¡± ¡°Okay, then let¡¯s go together.¡± Hughes smiled and didn¡¯t refuse. Teaching building no. 1 was about two kilometers away from the student villa area. Hughes and Otis arrived after walking for a while. At this point, a large number of students were walking out of teaching building no. 1 while chatting and laughing. Without exception, they were all holding a magic staff that was as tall as a person. Moreover, their bodies were emitting a faint magical aura. ¡°Isn¡¯t it summer vacation now? Why is school still in session?¡± Hughes was a little surprised when he saw this scene. ¡°There are still five days before the college entrance exam in high school, and summer vacation in college hasn¡¯t even started yet.¡± Otis explained with a smile. ¡°So that¡¯s how it is.¡± Hughes suddenly understood. Subconsciously, he thought that it was already summer vacation. In fact, the college entrance exams have not even started yet. ¡°Besides, after becoming a mage, how could there be a vacation?¡± Otis continued, ¡°Even if the school is on vacation, we students have to work hard to improve our strength. ¡°Otherwise, when school starts, the other students might even surpass you.¡± ¡°That¡¯s true.¡± Hughes nodded in agreement. The mage academy¡¯s purpose was to cultivate more powerful mages. Therefore, the various benefits in the school were provided to the students to train their strengths. Under such circumstances, no one could relax. Shaking his head, Hughes did not think too much about it. He followed Otis to the demon beast sales office. Outside the demon beast sales office was a wide open area. Several demon beasts that were locked in cages were emitting magical auras. ¡°Roar!¡± ¡°Awoo!¡± ¡ The moment the two got close, they heard the roars of demon beasts. ¡°Low-level wind wolf, middle-level armored rhino, low-level earth piercing tiger¡¡± After taking a quick glance, Hughes saw many decent demon beasts. Although adult demon beasts were very powerful, they were not his target. His goal was to raise demon beast cubs that were much more approachable. Hughes then found a staff member at the side and explained his purpose of coming. ¡°The young demon beasts are not outside, but inside the sales building. Moreover, your special recruitment status also needs to be confirmed inside the sales building.¡± The staff member smiled slightly and led the two into the building at the side. The interior of the demon beast sales building was decorated very luxuriously. The floor of the hall was so bright that people could see it clearly. The decorations were extraordinary. The staff in the hall were comprised of handsome men and beautiful women. Each one of them had a smile that made people feel as if they were bathing in the spring breeze. And in the center of the hall, there were transparent incubators placed next to each other. Inside the incubators, there were demon beast cubs, and some were just demon beast eggs. At this point, there were quite a number of students who were being led by the staff to select demon beasts for their contract. ¡°Woah, this school¡¯s demon beast sales office is a little too luxurious.¡± Upon seeing this scene, Hughes could not help but exclaim in surprise. ¡°Many of the school¡¯s businesses are in cooperation with external forces. This demon beast sales office was contracted by a super-rich family.¡± Otis, who was beside him seemed to be quite familiar with this. ¡°Student, I need to confirm your identity as a special recruit.¡± The staff at the front desk said. ¡°Okay.¡± Hughes handed his student card to the staff at the front desk. After a while, the other party finished verifying his identity. Chapter 15 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Class of 3012, Hughes, you have the right to choose a contracted beast for free. Do you want to choose now?¡± The staff at the front desk revealed a beautiful smile and said to Hughes. ¡°Yes, I want to choose now.¡± Hughes nodded and replied affirmatively. ¡°Okay, please follow me.¡± As the staff walked, he spoke to Hughes and Otis, ¡°The demon beasts in the hall are the pups of the demon beasts that are the easiest to contract. You can choose as you like. ¡°Of course, if you want to choose the demon beast eggs that haven¡¯t hatched yet, it¡¯s also possible.¡± ¡°Okay.¡± Hughes replied casually. Then, he began to look at the demon beasts in the hall. Just as he was about to check on a young demon beast in front of him, a voice sounded in his mind. [Ding ~ detected that the host is selecting contracted demon beasts. Activate the demon beast scanning function.] [Ding ~ The demon beast scanning function has been successfully activated. Remaining time: 12 hours.] ¡°Hmm? Demon beast scanning?¡± Hughes said in his head, puzzled. However, he quickly became happy, because now he could see the attributes of these demon beasts. After receiving the ability, Hughes looked around the hall. Unfortunately, he did not see any demon beasts that he liked. The demon beast cubs in the hall were mostly ordinary low-level demon beasts and basically did not have much growth ability. Just like that, after walking around the entire hall, Hughes had two choices in his mind: the steel spike wolf and the multicolored tiger. The low-level steel spike wolf and the multicolored tiger were the two demon beast cubs with the best growth ability in the entire hall. Among them, the steel spike wolf was able to grow to the level of a lord, while the multicolored tiger was relatively weaker and could only grow to the level of a great demon beast. ¡°Can I choose between the steel spike wolf cub and the multicolored tiger cub?¡± Once again, Hughes confirmed with the staff. ¡°Yes, but you only get one free chance.¡± After the staff confirmed it, Otis asked Hughes. ¡°Hughes, are you going to choose one of these two?¡± ¡°Yes, but right now I¡¯m struggling with which one to choose.¡± Hughes nodded and replied. ¡°Of course I¡¯d choose the steel spike wolf!: ¡°After entering the wild, our lives are the most important. For people like us who don¡¯t have any wind element magic talent, it¡¯s best to choose a faster contracted demon beast. This way, we can guarantee our chances of survival.¡± Otis smiled and explained what he understood to Hughes. ¡°That¡¯s right!¡± Hughes slapped his head. He had almost forgotten about this. Although his light magic had healing effects, if he was attacked by a group, he would be stunned. If he didn¡¯t have a good escape method, he might really die that day. Just as he was about to confirm the steel spike wolf he had chosen with the staff, he suddenly saw demon beast eggs placed on the shelf on the right. And in front of the shelf, several students were discussing excitedly. ¡°Are the demon beast eggs over there also demon beast cubs that special students can choose?¡± Hughes asked curiously. He hadn¡¯t checked the eggs over there just now. ¡°Sort of!¡± The staff hesitated for a moment, then he said, ¡°There are some demon beast eggs over there that I don¡¯t know what they are, and many of them have already lost their vitality, so their prices are relatively cheap. Some students buy them back to be processed as ingredients, but occasionally, some students find good demon beast cubs from those eggs.¡± ¡°A few days ago, a student bought a demon beast egg and found out that it was the descendant of a lord-tier demon beast.¡± ¡°Oh? is that so? It¡¯s like opening a blind box!¡± Hughes¡¯s eyes lit up as he said. He would be able to easily identify the cubs with the system. Who knows, he might really be able to discover a demon beast egg with great potential! Thinking of this, Hughes could not wait to bring Otis to the shelf next to him. ¡°This demon beast egg has very strong vitality. I will choose this one today. You guys just wait for me to hatch a young lord-tier level demon beast!¡± ¡°Hehe, does having strong vitality mean that you have a lord-tier level demon beast? It still depends on the type. I think this Purple Demon Beast Egg is not bad. I want this one.¡± ¡°So what if you hatch a lord-tier level demon beast cub? Can you afford to raise it?¡± ¡ As soon as Hughes walked to the shelf, he heard the students around him discussing intensely. ¡°Looks like other people have the same thoughts as us. They all want to pick up scraps.¡± As for whether he could afford to raise it or not, he would have to wait until he got it. Hughes calmly opened the system and observed the rows of demon beast eggs on the shelf. [Race name: Purple Electric Mouse (unhatched)] [Level: Low-level Demon Beast] [Growth rate: High-level Demon Beast] [Threat: None] [Race name: Ice-singing Rabbit (unhatched)] [Level: Middle-level Demon Beast] [Growth rate: High-rank Demon Beast] [Threat: None] [Race name: steel-winged bird (unhatched)] [Level: Low-rank Demon Beast] [Growth rate: High-rank Demon Beast] [Threat: None] ¡ ¡°This¡ This is not good!¡± Looking at the information of the demon beast eggs displayed on the system interface, Hughes could not help but be speechless. Was this not a huge waste of time? The shelves were basically filled with demon beasts that could only be used as pets. Even if there were battle demon beasts, their potential was far inferior to the demon beast cubs sold in the hall. Hughes now seriously suspected that the staff just now was a procrastinator! Even to the extent that this story might be fake! ¡°Forget it, I still want my steel spike wolf!¡± Hughes shook his head. Just as he was about to return to the hall, he suddenly saw a broken demon beast egg at the top of the shelf. [Race name: Purple Thunder Fire Lion (unhatched)] [Level: High-level Demon Beast.] [Growth rate: Ruler-level Demon Beast.] [Threat: None.] [Remarks: The demon beast¡¯s vitality has been drained. It needs the thunder of nature and the earth flame to help it hatch.] Chapter 16 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°Vitality has been drained? It requires the thunder of nature and the earth flame for it to hatch? Looking at the information on the system interface, Hughes frowned. No wonder this egg was placed at the top. The examiner must have noticed that the egg¡¯s vitality had already been lost, so he did not carry out any other tests and placed it here. After all, it was basically impossible for a demon beast egg with its life force drained to hatch successfully. ¡°But fortunately, I have the system and know how to successfully hatch this demon beast egg again.¡± Looking at the demon beast egg at the top of the shelf, Hughes suppressed the excitement in his heart and said to the staff, ¡°I¡¯ll take the broken demon beast egg at the top of the shelf.¡± ¡°Huh?¡± The staff did not expect Hughes to choose a broken demon beast egg. After being stunned for a moment, he asked again, ¡°Are you sure you want to use this free opportunity to get the broken demon beast egg?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± Hughes nodded without hesitation. A demon beast egg was at most tens of thousands of dollars. But if the purple thunder fire lion¡¯s demon beast egg could be hatched, then it was not something that could be measured with money. ¡°Hughes, the demon beast eggs on this shelf are basically all pet eggs. You must consider it carefully.¡± Seeing that Hughes wanted to choose a broken demon beast egg, Otis could not help but remind him. Although he had just gotten to know Hughes, he could not just watch his roommate get tricked. As Otis said that, Hughes was surprised that Otis knew about the issues. But after the system found out that this egg was a purple thunder fire lion that would become a ruler-level monster, how could he give up? Therefore, he calmly smiled and said, ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I know what I¡¯m doing.¡± Otis didn¡¯t say anything else when he saw this. After all, this was someone else¡¯s choice. He could not step over the line and forcefully interfere. ¡°Help me take it down, I¡¯ll take it away now.¡± Hughes looked at the staff as he said that. Just as the staff was about to take the Demon Beast Egg, a clear voice sounded. ¡°Wait, I¡¯ll pay for this demon beast egg for him. Let him keep this free opportunity!¡± Hughes turned his head and saw a familiar baseball cap. However, she was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and a pair of jean shorts. Her long and fair thighs were exposed in the air, making her look particularly beautiful. Seeing this person¡¯s arrival, the surrounding people began to discuss. ¡°It¡¯s the first-year water elemental Alice!¡± ¡°Tsk tsk, as expected of a water elemental goddess. She¡¯s really beautiful.¡± ¡°Oh right, what did she say just now?¡± ¡°I think she said that she¡¯s going to pay for that kid.¡± ¡°Who¡¯s that Kid?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know, I¡¯ve never seen him before.¡± ¡ Listening to the discussions of the people around him, Hughes said helplessly, ¡°Senior, what are you doing?¡± ¡°What do you mean what are you doing!? Isn¡¯t it good to save a free chance?¡± Alice pouted and said proudly. ¡°Woah, have you ever seen Alice like this?¡± ¡°No¡ No, this kind of reaction is too cute!¡± ¡°No, my goddess, how can you be like this?¡± ¡ Listening to the discussions of the people around him, looking at Alice¡¯s tsundere appearance, Hughes could not help but burst into laughter. At this moment, a low voice came from the side. ¡°I heard that there¡¯s a gigolo here who lives solely on women?¡± As soon as he finished speaking, a man walked out from the crowd. He was about the same size as Otis, holding a tall, red staff in his hand. Seeing this man walk out, Alice¡¯s expression changed. Her originally proud expression instantly turned moody, as if she put up a mask. Then, Alice said in a cold voice, ¡°Ferri, you don¡¯t need to care about my matters.¡± ¡°What, gigolo, do you know how to hide behind a woman?¡± Ferri saw the hint of annoyance on Alice¡¯s face and became even angrier, then he said, ¡°Kid, I advise you to come over and apologize to me. Otherwise, you won¡¯t even know how you¡¯ll suffer later.¡± Hughes looked at the tall man in front of him. The smile on his face slowly turned into a sneer because of Alice. Then he said, ¡°Is that so? I¡¯d like to see who will suffer.¡± When the surrounding students saw the confrontation between the two, they all secretly clicked their tongues. A junior who had not yet entered the academy was fighting with a senior who had already entered the academy for a year. They had thought that only new students would be able to see such a situation¡ but they did not expect to see it here today. Ferri¡¯s eyes narrowed slightly, and there was a slight chill in his eyes. In his year¡¯s batch of Lach Academy of Magic, no one dared to contradict him in front of him. Although he had heard that Hughes was an SS-grade rare light magic mage before¡ he was still the number one in his batch. ¡°You¡¯re really arrogant¡¡± Ferri¡¯s mouth curled into a mocking arc. He narrowed his eyes and stared at Hughes, he said, ¡°I¡¯m really curious. Other than relying on your good luck to obtain light magic, which is a supporting talent that can not be broken, what kind of confidence do you have to dare oppose me?¡± When Otis heard Ferri¡¯s sarcastic words, anger immediately rose in his eyes. However, he also understood that Ferri was not someone an intermediate mage like him could deal with. He could only grit his teeth in anger. ¡°Whether I have the confidence or not, why don¡¯t you try it out yourself?¡± However, unlike Otis¡¯ anger, Hughes only smiled even more coldly. Ferri¡¯s pupils constricted. Clearly, he had not expected Hughes to speak to him like that, his voice immediately became cold. ¡°Originally, if you were sensible, you could have just apologized to me and let it go. But you insisted on being so insensible. Looks like I will definitely have to make you suffer today.¡± As soon as he finished speaking, Ferri took a step forward. Mana rose from the staff in his hand. The intensity of that mana was much stronger than Otis¡¯. Otis was shocked when he saw Ferri¡¯s imposing manner. Ferri actually attacked him on the campus, was he not afraid of being punished by the academy? Otis and Alice looked at Hughes worriedly. They saw that there was not the slightest ounce of fear on the tender face that was similar to their age. Those pitch-black eyes reflected a faint black light, making it impossible to see through. Seeing that Hughes was so calm, Alice and the others calmed down as well. Suddenly, Otis¡¯ Heart jolted. Even though Ferri was considered the top of his class, he knew that Hughes was also a scary opponent. It might not be as easy as he thought to make use of Hughes to gain a sense of presence. Chapter 17 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation ¡°What a¡ greedy fellow!¡± Hughes shook his head and pursed his lips. His originally calm and tender demeanor gradually turned cold and stern. He slowly opened his palm and light magic took shape in his hand. As Hughes released his mana, his aura as a high-level mage was also revealed. The atmosphere became tense between the two of them. Many of the surrounding students could not help but widen their eyes. In front of them was the conflict between the new student and an older student. On one side was Hughes, who was comparable to some of the older students, on the other was someone who was at top of his class, Ferri. They were extremely curious as to who was stronger between the two of them. ¡°Stop!¡± Just as the two of them were fighting, a deep cry was suddenly heard from afar. Then, the sound of rushing wind could be heard as a strong figure appeared between the two of them. When the surrounding students saw who it was, they were immediately shocked. Then, they quickly said respectfully, ¡°Archmage Rodney!¡± The man called Archmage Rodney was middle-aged. He had a determined look on his face. Outside of his body, the aura of the Archmage was faintly discernible, causing the surrounding students to feel a great pressure. When they saw him, even the arrogant Ferri restrained his arrogance. After all, the person in front of him was a genuine archmage-level powerhouse. Even in the Lach Academy¡ he was considered a powerhouse. Naturally, he dared not offend him. ¡°If you want to compete in the academy, you can go to the arena. Do you want to be punished for embarrassing yourself outside?¡± Rodney looked around and said in a deep voice. ¡°Hehe, Archmage Rodney, we¡¯re just having a friendly exchange.¡± Ferri smiled. He knew that he could not fight Hughes today. He looked at Hughes, stretched out his finger, and said, ¡°See you in the arena tomorrow. Don¡¯t be afraid to come!¡± After saying that, Ferri turned around and left. Hughes could still vaguely hear him muttering. ¡°It¡¯s just a lousy support talent. So what if it¡¯s SS-grade¡¡± Alice also heard Ferri¡¯s deliberate mumbling. Her face turned a little ashen. She gritted her teeth and said, ¡°Hughes, this guy is really too arrogant. He¡¯s just an elemental mage. If I wanted him dead, no one would be able to stop me.¡± When Hughes saw Alice, who was filled with righteous indignation, he could not help but laugh. He patted her shoulder and said, ¡°Why are you so angry? If a dog bites you, don¡¯t tell me you¡¯re going to bite it back?¡± ¡°I¡¯m still unhappy!¡± ¡°I¡¯m a little unhappy.¡± Hughes pursed his lips and smiled. The young man¡¯s gentle face slowly turned cold. ¡°Although I can¡¯t bite it back, I¡¯d like to kill it with a stick. I want to knock it so hard that it doesn¡¯t dare to scream anymore.¡± ¡°Ferri really does resemble his father.¡± Archmage Rodney looked in the direction Ferri had left and frowned. It was obvious that he was also slightly dissatisfied with Ferri. Then, he turned his head and smiled at Hughes. ¡°Well said. I agree.¡± ¡°But Ferri is already a mid-level elemental mage. Moreover, he has an S-grade fire elemental talent. His attack power is comparable to a low-level intermediate elemental mage. Are you sure you want to go to the arena tomorrow?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t worry, Archmage Rodney. Since I said it out loud, I must have full confidence in my words.¡± ¡°We¡¯ll go back first, Archmage Rodney.¡± Archmage Rodney waved his hand and watched as Hughes, who was carrying the monster egg gradually leaving with Alice and Otis. He could not help but smack his lips. This little guy was not old, but he seemed unpredictable¡ There was no trace of a youth¡¯s unique impatience and arrogance on him, but he could always vaguely feel the sharpness hidden under the indifference. It seemed that Kate had picked up a treasure this time¡ ¡°Hughes, are you really going to fight Ferri tomorrow?¡± Otis could not help but ask worriedly on the way home. ¡°That¡¯s right, Hughes. You don¡¯t have to come tomorrow. No one would dare say anything. Moreover, if he really hurt you, I will immediately make him disappear.¡± Alice said with some panic. She felt guilt for the incident. She did not want to affect Hughes because of this incident, so she was a little flustered. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, don¡¯t worry. I probably wouldn¡¯t lose.¡± Hughes said calmly. Although he was only an intermediate mage now. But with his SS-grade light magic talent, the spells he cast might not be inferior to the spells cast by a mid-level elemental mage! Moreover, he also had the ultimate cheat, Lorelei¡¯s tome! ¡°Oh right, what¡¯s so special about this egg? You didn¡¯t even hesitate to use a free chance to get it.¡± Alice looked curiously at the Broken Monster Egg in Hughes¡¯s hand. ¡°Nothing, I just wanted to prove a guess.¡± Hughes said with a smile and did not explain further. ¡ After walking for a while, Alice separated from Hughes at a fork in the road. There were no other twists and turns on the road after that. Hughes smoothly took the purple thunder fire lion demon beast egg and returned to the second floor of the villa. ¡°Purple thunder fire lion. The adult body can reach the ruler-level at max!¡± In the bedroom, after checking the information of the purple thunder fire lion, Hughes excitedly looked at the giant purple egg that was about 80 centimeters long that was placed on the chair. As long as he could hatch this egg, he would be able to obtain a terrifying demon beast that could grow to the ruler-level! ¡°I know the thunder of nature, but what is this earth flame?¡± With that question in his mind, Hughes continued searching for information on the computer. After about ten minutes, he collecting the information and leaned back in his chair to think. It would be a bit troublesome to get the earth flame. An earth flame was formed by the natural combination of magma and magic. In other words, Hughes was going to have to search for an underground magma cavern outside of the city. But he was still too weak. Rashly going outside the city of San Pedro was basically suicide. Soon, Hughes had an idea. He turned on his computer again and entered the mage forum. After entering the forum, Hughes opened the materials store and looked for the earth flame. Soon, he found the information of the sale of the core fire. ¡°Earth flame, 150,000 USD!¡± Looking at the high price, Hughes could not help but click his tongue. Fortunately, St. Peter¡¯s High School had rewarded him with 200,000 USD, or else he could only watch helplessly. As for the Lach Academy¡¯s reward, it would only be confirmed after he officially entered the school. ¡°I¡¯ll buy it!¡± Hughes gritted his teeth. After all, it was a contracted beast that could grow to a ruler-level. Chapter 18 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation The next day, when the warm sun shone on San Pedro, the Lach Academy of Magic gradually began to show signs of boiling. To the west of the Lach Academy of Magic¡¯s teaching building no. 1, there was a vast field. The buildings on the field were built in the shape of the ancient Roman Colosseum. There were many arenas that were surrounded by layers of stone seats. The seats were currently occupied by mountains of people. There was a lot of chatter, even the sound of a young girl¡¯s bell-like laughter, which filled the air with youth and vitality. ¡°I really don¡¯t know what that new student was thinking. They dared to challenge the seniors!¡± ¡°Maybe he felt that just because he was specially recruited by the academy, he would be more important than the rest of us.¡± ¡°They really don¡¯t know the type of beating he was going to get. This student is probably really dumb.¡± In a corner of the entire stone staircase, some of the new students who had just arrived at the Lach Academy during the summer vacation were talking to each other. ¡°Hughes¡ do you think he can do it?¡± ¡°I think he must have some skills. Otherwise, why would he dare to shout at the seniors?¡± ¡°Forget it. I think this guy just wants to show off.¡± ¡ These freshmen were all looking down on Hughes. Otis clenched his fists and cheered for Hughes beside him. ¡°Hughes, don¡¯t be nervous. When the time comes, we¡¯ll beat up that Ferri so that he won¡¯t dare to be arrogant anymore.¡± Hughes had not said anything as Otis cheered for him. He merely smiled indifferently and looked towards the arena. Although it had not officially begun, there were already academies sparring in the arena. While Hughes was staring at the arena, a commotion suddenly came from behind him. Soon after, a fragrant wind blew over and a graceful and slender figure appeared beside him. A tender voice was heard. ¡°Hughes!¡± Hughes turned his head to look at Alice, who had appeared beside him. Alice was dressed in jade green clothing today. She had an absolutely beautiful face, and her dancing ponytail had attracted the attention of many people around her. Alice was a delightful beauty. No matter where she went, there would be all kinds of envious gazes. ¡°Why are you here?¡± Hughes was a little surprised at Alice¡¯s appearance. Normally, she should be on the side of the seniors. ¡°I¡¯m here to support you!¡± Alice smiled sweetly and said mockingly, ¡°If you get beaten to a pulp, I can carry you back.¡± ¡°Then I really have to thank you!¡± Hughes said snappily. ¡°Hughes, can you really do it?¡± A trace of worry flashed across Alice¡¯s big eyes. Teasing was just teasing, but she also understood the importance of today¡¯s matter. Otherwise, she would not have abandoned her friends and come to Hughes¡¯ side. ¡°I¡¯ll try my best.¡± Hughes smiled disapprovingly. Just as he was about to speak again, his expression suddenly changed. He raised his head and looked toward the opposite side. He saw a somewhat dark and cold gaze staring fixedly at him from the seat on the stone stairs opposite him, it was none other than Ferri. Some of his lackeys were surrounding Ferri. At this time, these lackeys were also looking at him with cold and provocative gazes. Hughes and Ferri stared at each other from afar. As their gazes intersected, it was as though sparks were flickering. The two of them had been celebrities in the academy for the past two days. Many people had come for their battle today. Therefore, the two of them stared at each other in a confrontational manner. This caused the corners of their mouths to widen. They knew that they would not be able to escape from today¡¯s good show. Ferri stared at Hughes from afar. Then, he turned his gaze towards Alice, who was beside him. He gritted his teeth so hard that they creaked. When he looked at Hughes again, his gaze became even colder. Hughes took in all of Ferri¡¯s subtle changes. Then, he turned his head to look at Alice, who was beside him. ¡°If you think I¡¯m causing you trouble, then I¡¯ll leave,¡± Alice said with a straight face. Hughes could not help but laugh. His dark eyes stared into Alice¡¯s. His bright eyes made Alice¡¯s little face turn slightly red, but she still stubbornly looked at Hughes. ¡°His words¡ shouldn¡¯t be considered trouble,¡± Hughes said with a smile. ¡°Hmph, all he does is brag. Let¡¯s wait until you defeat him.¡± Alice curled her lips and said. Dong! A clear bell chime suddenly sounded. This bell jolted everyone present. The fight was finally about to begin. The clear bell chime reverberated in the sky. The lively atmosphere below had also reached its peak. Toward the north of the arena, three figures were sitting on a quiet stone step. On the left was Archmage Rodney from yesterday. On the right was a middle-aged man with a thin face. His face was tense, and his eyes were slightly sunken, he appeared very cold and stern. ¡°Hehe, today¡¯s arena is even more lively than before,¡± an old man with white hair, who was sitting in the main seat between the two, could not help but say as he looked at the fiery atmosphere below with a smile. ¡°Most of the past fights had clear winners, but today¡¯s fight¡ I wouldn¡¯t take a guess so quickly. Archmage Rodney said with a smile. ¡°What? Obviously, Ferri would win. Ferri is already a mid-level elemental mage. With the support of his s-rank fire talent, not to mention the new student who has yet to enter the academy, even among the sophomores, he is probably ranked in the top few. Although Hughes is not bad, he is still far from Ferri¡¯s level.¡± The cold middle-aged man on the right side curled his lips, he was Ferri¡¯s father and had a fiery relationship with him. Naturally, he hoped that Ferri would be able to defeat Hughes. ¡°Clyde, it¡¯s not very wise to underestimate a mage with SS-grade magic talent,¡± Archmage Rodney said faintly. ¡°Unfortunately, that¡¯s for the other elements. Light elements are not included in that list.¡± Archmage Clyde shook his head and said. ¡°Hmph, is that so? I hope that when Kate comes back, you can still be so stubborn.¡± After Archmage Rodney said that, he stopped talking and focused on the arena. ¡°You¡ Hmph!¡± Archmage Clyde also stopped talking and turned to look at the arena. The old man with white hair smiled when he heard the argument between the two of them. Apparently, he was already used to it. Chapter 19 Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation Ignoring the two people beside him, the white-haired old man stood up. His gaze swept across the entire arena as he activated his demonic energy. Soon after, a deep voice rumbled in the ears of everyone in the academy. ¡°Time is up. The arena will begin. This is a sparring match within the academy. No killing is allowed. Remember this!¡± ¡°Those who go up to the stage will have one chance to challenge their opponent. However, there will only be one chance. Therefore, you need to act according to your ability and choose the right skill.¡± In the arena, the audience was filled with people who respectfully said, ¡°Yes!¡± ¡°In that case¡¡± The white-haired old man nodded. Then, he waved his hand and said, ¡°Then let¡¯s begin!¡± Dong! As he waved his hand, another loud bell sound rang, almost spreading throughout the entire Lach Academy of Magic. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The entire arena was in chaos at this time. One after another, figures rushed onto the arena, and then the shouts that came one after another rang out continuously. ¡°Clifford, get down here. I¡¯ve long disliked you!¡± ¡°Priestley, come out as well. This time, I¡¯ll definitely beat you to a pulp!¡± ¡ Looking at the chaotic scene in the arena, Hughes could not help but smile. However, most of these matches were relatively ordinary, so he did not pay too much attention to them. He only occasionally glanced in the direction of Ferri. Right now, Ferrie was looking at him coldly. Currently, everyone in the Lach Academy of Magic knew that Ferri had announced that he would choose Hughes as his opponent in the arena. Therefore, no one was blind enough to take the initiative to challenge him. Hughes did not mind Ferri¡¯s cold gaze. He would occasionally chat and laugh with Alice beside him. However, his actions only made Ferri grit his teeth in anger. The competition in the arena was quite lively. However, the ones who were the most interesting were the seniors. This was because only their kind of competition was the most intense. It was basically a magical exchange, causing people to exclaim in delight. ¡ After an unknown period of time, the people in the arena were almost done fighting. At this moment, Ferri suddenly stood up. That gloomy aura made the surrounding lackeys feel uneasy. Ferri appeared to be quite terrifying. Ferri leaped up and directly jumped onto the arena. After glancing at Hughes, he said expressionlessly, ¡°Come, I¡¯ll treat you well!¡± Hughes also leaped up and landed directly in the arena. Ferri stared at Hughes in the arena. His eyes were filled with hostility. The corners of his mouth cracked as he said with a sinister smile, ¡°Brat, you have guts!¡± In the arena, the two people were confronting each other. The atmosphere instantly became tense. All the students who had come to the arena looked over. The good show had begun! ¡°Hughes actually came forward. I¡¯m very curious to see if he¡¯s a match for Ferri.¡± In the southern corner of the arena, the seniors gathered together and looked at the two figures in the arena. They could not help but laugh. In fact, even they were a little curious about Hughes. After all, no matter what¡ Hughes was the owner of the SS-grade light magic talent. If Hughes won against Ferri today, then he would basically soar in the academy in the future. Even the strongest second-year genius, Frederick, would be inferior by a notch. Thinking of this, they secretly glanced at Frederick in front of them but did not dare to say what they were thinking. Hearing the discussion behind him, the handsome young man only smiled faintly. His eyes stared at the thin young man in the field, and there was an extremely cold glint in the depths of his eyes. ¡°If he can¡¯t even pass the test of Ferri, then his SS-grade magic talent will really let me down.¡± Frederick murmured softly and slowly clenched his hands. The bars made of alloy actually formed a deep mark under his strength, and a chill grew in the depths of his eyes. He could not tolerate a guy without ability surpassing him, no matter which aspect it was. ¡ ¡°Go, Hughes!¡± ¡°Hughes, beat him until he is no longer arrogant and despotic!¡± Around the arena, the students who had been bullied by Ferri looked at the two people who were confronting each other in the arena. Their eyes were filled with excitement. Over the past year, they had been bullied by Ferri everywhere, and now, there was finally someone who dared to contend with Ferri. ¡°A bunch of whimsical fellows.¡± When Ferri heard those voices, the corner of his lips curled up into a vicious smile. Then, he stared at Hughes and said with some ridicule, ¡°I really want to know how interesting their expressions will be after you lose.¡± In the face of his ridicule, Hughes¡¯s face had not shown the slightest bit of anger. He only stretched out his hand and said calmly, ¡°You shouldn¡¯t have that ability.¡± ¡°You stubborn duck!¡± Fury flashed in Ferri¡¯s eyes. His right hand gripped the magic staff tightly. Fiery-red mana wrapped around the staff tightly like flames. In the next moment, he took a step forward and shouted loudly, ¡°Big fireball spell!¡± As soon as Ferri¡¯s voice fell, the top of the magic staff in Ferri¡¯s hand suddenly exploded with mana. The Fireball spell, which was originally a low-level spell, had actually expanded more than twice when Ferri cast it. The surrounding mana seemed to have been attracted by something as it surged toward Ferri¡¯s magic staff. The support of Mana¡ made Ferri, who was already imposing, become even scarier. Around the arena, the faces of many students became solemn when they saw this scene. Ferri had become even more terrifying now. ¡°Big fireball spell!¡± Hughes let out a soft breath. This Ferri was indeed something. He was able to transform a low-level spell into such a dangerous spell. He slowly extended his palm and slowly opened it towards Ferri. Deep within his black eyes, golden light gathered. It was as if there were thousands of golden lights, mysterious and unfathomable. ¡°Come!¡± As Hughes¡¯ soft voice rang out, everyone saw more than a dozen spears formed from golden light slowly appear behind Hughes. As Hughes released more and more mana, even those who were sitting in the audience seats¡ could feel the aura radiating from him. The battle in the arena was about to begin. Chapter 20 - Blazing Sun Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation Huff Huff! Two waves of dense magical energy spread in the sky. After which, they collided with each other. Just like muffled thunder in the clouds, a low and deep explosive sound was emitted. The tense atmosphere caused the air particles to stop moving. Countless pairs of eyes gathered between the two of them. They held their breaths and remained silent. The extremely tense atmosphere in front of them only needed a tiny fuse to blow up. The arena, which was originally so quiet that it was frightening, was suddenly attacked by a wild wind. The instant the wild wind disappeared, a sharp look surged into the eyes of Hughes and Ferri almost instantly. The two of them moved and released their spells at the same time. One gold and one red whizzed past¡ after which, they violently collided in mid-air. Bang! A loud sound rang out as the heatwave formed by the magic energy attack swept towards the audience. The entire floor of the arena had been completely destroyed by this collision. The three of them were seated in the northern seats. The heatwave did not affect the three of them at all. In fact, not even their hair was blown up. ¡°As expected of a little guy with SS-grade magic talent¡¡± the gray-haired old man saw this scene with a hint of admiration that flashed across his turbid eyes. ¡°Hughes has sharp eyes and is calm in the face of his enemies. His temperament is not inferior to those who have been through hundreds of battles.¡± Archmage Rodney also nodded. His tone was quite appreciative. It was possible to train your magic, but it was not so easy to hone the mentality of a strong person. ¡°Hmm, his eyesight is indeed good. He knows how to pick the weakest point of Ferri¡¯s magic. It can be considered to be using cleverness to breakthrough power. However, there was also a saying that one¡¯s strength could defeat ten people. If he continued to dodge like this, the consumption of magic power would obviously not be enough to catch up with Ferri. As long as Ferri is able to withdraw his magic, it would be difficult for Hughes to gain any benefits.¡± Archmage Clyde said. The gray-haired old man and Archmage Rodney also nodded. That was exactly the case, but¡ Was the current Hughes really avoiding the magic or plotting something else? At the center of the explosion, a muffled sound was suddenly heard. A purple magic book was thrown out of Hughes¡¯ body. Hughes, who was in the middle of a mana concentration spell, suddenly said, ¡°Light magic, chained light arrows.¡± After Hughes finished speaking, the magic book suddenly opened on its own and floated beside Hughes. Then, the sound of flipping came. As the sound of flipping the book rang out, more than ten golden light spears appeared beside Hughes once again and shot towards Ferri. The uproar from the arena instantly intensified. Regardless of whether it was the freshmen or the first and second-year students, they clearly did not expect that Ferri, who was still ferociously attacking just a moment ago, would suddenly be repelled by Hughes. ¡°You!¡± Ferri¡¯s face was filled with anger. He stared fixedly at Hughes before he took a deep breath. The fiery-red magical energy in his right hand rapidly accumulated. Fiery-red magical energy rose and gathered on Ferri¡¯s magic staff like flames. The magical energy rapidly contracted and vaguely resembled a fiery-red sun the size of a palm. An aura slowly radiated from his staff. The clamor outside the arena quickly began to weaken. Many students watched this scene with fear and anticipation. Ferri had clearly pushed the magical energy in his body to the limit. Hughes looked at Ferri who was using all his strength. He pursed his lips slightly, and his eyes instantly turned cold. He clasped his hands together and circulated the magical energy in his body. He softly chanted, ¡°Light magic, light sword of punishment!¡± Golden magical energy slowly spread out from Hughes¡¯ hands. A holy aura also spread from his body. As the magic energy slowly spread out, there were actually faint signs of Ferri¡¯s violent magic energy surpassing it. When the magic energy was circulated to its max, the six golden wings surged out from Hughes¡¯ back. The pressure created by the powerful magical energy instantly suppressed Ferri¡¯s magic energy. ¡°What a powerful magical energy!¡± Surprise flashed across the eyes of the three people in the northern viewing seats. This level of magic energy was no less than that of a mid-level intermediate elemental mage. Moreover, they could sense that the golden magical energy that gushed out from Hughes¡¯ body was filled with a holy aura¡ an imposing aura. This was clearly not something that ordinary magic energy users possessed. ¡°Hughes, you are seeking your own death!¡± A stunned expression flashed across Ferri¡¯s face when his magical ability was actually suppressed. Soon after, he let out an angry roar and took a step forward. After which, everyone saw that his body was lit up by numerous fiery-red light spots, these light spots were scattered all over his body. ¡°Is Ferri squeezing out his own potential?¡± Exclamations once again erupted across the arena. It was unexpected that Ferri had been pushed to such a degree. This time around, he was the one being bullied! Swoosh! As the fiery-red light spots appeared, the fiery-red magical energy on Ferri¡¯s magic staff suddenly increased explosively. The fiery-red sun, which was originally the size of a palm, also quickly doubled in size, the surrounding magical energy was mercilessly extracted by the magic staff in his hand. The faces of many students around the arena became solemn when they saw this scene. The current Ferri had clearly exhausted all of his strength. This kind of attack would definitely be like a thunderbolt. He was planning to directly defeat Hughes in one strike. Otis also stared intently at the arena. His face was filled with anxiety. Even Alice¡¯s pretty eyes had become much more solemn. Ferri¡¯s strength was considered to be very strong even though he was just a sophomore. ¡°This time around, I want to see what you can use to fight me!¡± Ferri¡¯s expression was dark. After which, he smiled sinisterly at Hughes. The fiery-red sun on his magic staff quickly flew towards Hughes. The sun-like magic was so violent that it was eye-piercing. ¡°Blazing sun!¡± The blazing sun was extremely fast. In an instant, it appeared in front of Hughes. The violent magic carried a hot wind and caused Hughes¡¯s clothes to flutter. His black hair was blown back by the wind. However, his black eyes had not shown the panic that Ferri wanted to see. ¡°It¡¯s already so late, yet you¡¯re still putting on an act. Turn into ashes for me!¡± Seeing that Hughes did not take his ultimate move to heart, Ferri¡¯s heart skipped a beat. It was followed by endless anger. ¡°Look at me. I¡¯ll step on you in front of so many people. ¡°Will you still be as calm as you are now!?¡± Chapter 21 ¡°Do you want to trample me under your feet?¡± Hughes looked at Ferri, who was leaning on his magic staff. The tired look in the latter¡¯s eyes was clearly visible. Soon after, the corner of his mouth slowly curled into an arc. It was as cold as a blade. ¡°I was afraid that you did not possess the qualification¡¡± Hughes suddenly lifted his head, and he clenched both of his hands tightly. The majestic golden magical energy that was emitting out from Hughes shrank quickly, the energy transformed into a pillar of light that shot up into the sky. The pillar of light that shot into the sky blocked the blazing sun in the center of the arena. Hughes chanted, ¡°The bright one! The sins of mankind will be judged by you. You, who has been crowned with the name of God, shall descend!¡± As Hughes chanted, Lorelei¡¯s tome started flipping its pages wildly. Streams of golden demonic energy streamed out from the tome and floated towards the pillar of light. After doing all this, Hughes raised his head to look at the sky. Although all the spectators in the arena were puzzled, they also raised their heads to look at the sky. As everyone raised their heads to look, a huge golden figure suddenly appeared in the originally cloudless sky. An angel holding a huge golden sword with six pure white wings stretched out from its back, wearing silver-white armor, appeared in front of everyone¡¯s eyes. Under the golden light, it was so majestic that it made people feel ashamed of themselves. A holy, majestic, and emotionless mana fluctuation instantly exploded. ¡°This mana fluctuation¡¡± ¡°A tier 3 spell that I¡¯ve never seen before?¡± In the northern audience stands, the white-haired old man, Archmage Rodney, and the other two people suddenly looked surprised. ¡°Quick¡ look, what¡¯s that?¡± ¡°F*ck, f*ck, it¡¯s So Big!¡± ¡°Why do I feel guilty when I look at it?¡± ¡°This mana fluctuation should be a Tier 3 spell!¡± ¡ The surroundings of the arena suddenly burst into exclamations. That mana fluctuation clearly exceeded the scope of a Tier 2 spell. The current Hughes could actually cast a tier 3 spell! ¡°This kid¡ really has some ability.¡± On the viewing gallery on the south side, the expressions of the second-year students also became grave. A tier 3 spell could be considered one of the best among the second-year students. They did not expect that a freshman who had yet to enter the academy would be able to use it, this made them sigh in their hearts. Anyone who had awakened an SS-grade elemental magic talent would not be easy to deal with. Frederick¡¯s handsome face did not move much. He just looked at the scene calmly, so no one could tell whether he was happy or angry. Looking at the huge angel formed in the sky, Hughes finally breathed a sigh of relief. Previously, he had been unable to use this spell. Now, with the help of the tome, he had finally forcefully activated this spell. Golden magical energy gushed out from Lorelei¡¯s tome like a geyser. Then, it surged towards Hughes¡¯s arm. Finally, it wrapped around his entire arm. Hughes stared straight at the golden pillar of light that was about to shatter in front of him. He calmly waved his arm that was completely wrapped by the golden light. In the sky, the silver-white angel held the sword in both hands. Then, it slowly raised it above its head. It was like a bowstring that was stretched to the limit. In an extremely short period of time, a large amount of magical energy was instantly condensed, the air around the angel seemed to have been torn apart by this enormous magical energy. It was merely an extremely ordinary cleave. However, in the hands of the silver-white Angel, there was a momentum that could cause the mountains to collapse and the earth to crack. There was a surging magical energy mixed within it as it swept out. Finally, it directly collided with the blazing sun in front of Ferri¡¯s slightly changed expression, it collided ferociously with the blazing sun! Boom! A low voice suddenly exploded in the arena. The golden greatsword looked as if it was like swatting a fly, swatting away the blazing sun, and then violently hitting the ground. The airwave seemed to shake the air. All eyes were fixed unblinkingly on the smoke-filled ring. Soon, the smoke cleared. Two figures were confronting each other on the arena. One had a gloomy face, while the other was as calm as water. Was this a draw? Everyone looked at each other in dismay. Even that enormous attack from earlier was unable to defeat Ferri? Just as everyone was stunned, a deathly pale colour suddenly surged onto Ferri¡¯s gloomy face on the arena. After which, his body bent, and with a ¡®pui¡¯ sound, he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. As this mouthful of fresh blood was spat out, Ferri¡¯s aura seemed to wither in an instant. His pale face immediately caused the surrounding audience in the arena to erupt into an uproar. ¡°Ferri has lost!¡± ¡°Hughes is awesome!¡± ¡°Haha, Ferri has finally received his retribution!¡± On the spectating area of the new students, Otis and the rest stared blankly at this scene. Then, surprise and excitement quickly surged onto their faces. The sound of cheering suddenly rang out, and the thunderous cheers¡ in an instant, the henchmen on Ferri¡¯s side were completely suppressed. Feier had lost, he could not show his pride off any longer. The henchmen on Ferri¡¯s side gritted their teeth unwillingly. However, they had to admit that Hughes was indeed powerful. Initially, they had thought that he was just a freshman who had relied on his good luck to obtain an SS-grade magic talent, however, they did not expect that Hughes could actually use a tier 3 spell. After all, many sophomores could not even use it. Upon hearing the deafening cheers from the freshmen, Hughes smiled. With a wave of his hand, the angel in the sky slowly disappeared. Then, he looked at Ferri, who had a gloomy expression on his face, and said, ¡°There¡¯s no need to fight anymore!¡± Ferri slowly lifted his head and stared at Hughes with a sinister look in his eyes. The cheers from the audience were like knives that cut into his heart. They trampled on the arrogance in his heart, causing the corners of his mouth to twitch a little. In his eyes¡ a ferocious expression was revealed. When Hughes saw Ferri¡¯s appearance, he frowned slightly. The cruel training in the wild previously had caused him to faintly sense a trace of danger at this moment. ¡°I¡¯ll kill you!¡± A ferocious look instantly appeared on Ferri¡¯s face. He reached into the inner pocket of his shirt and took out a black gun from his pocket. Then, he pulled the trigger, and an extremely shocking mana fluctuation shot out¡ In the north audience stand, the faces of the white-haired old man, Archmage Rodney, and the other two people suddenly changed. Then, Archmage Rodney suddenly stood up and shouted, ¡°Ferri, what are you doing?¡± ¡ Chapter 22 Swoosh! However, when Archmage Rodney shouted, the cold-faced Hughes turned his body slightly and waved his hand. Golden mystical energy instantly gushed out from Lorelei¡¯s secret tome and instantly formed two golden long spears, the golden long spears brought with them an extremely sharp wind as they flew towards the vital parts of Ferri¡¯s throat. ¡°You!¡± Ferri had not expected that Hughes would react so quickly. Moreover, the latter did not seem to have any defensive stance at all. Instead, there was a chilling killing intent within his icy cold eyes. That killing intent made Ferri understand that even if he were to fire the magical gun in his hand again, the latter would definitely take his little life away in an instant. Risking his life. At the thought of this, a hint of panic flashed across Ferri¡¯s eyes. He clearly did not have the courage to exchange his life with Hughes, so he could only clench his teeth and lean his body to one side, intending to cut off his wrist. However, when he leaned over, his pupils suddenly widened. It turned out that Ferri, who leaned over, actually saw two golden spears. It was like shooting stars chasing the moon in a race. The head of the second golden spear was connected to the tail of the first golden spear, and from his perspective just now¡ there was only one golden spear. ¡°How is this possible?¡± ¡°When?¡± This was Ferri¡¯s last thought before he died. Chi! The two golden spears were like two golden sharp arrows. One pierced through Ferri¡¯s arm, while the other pierced through his throat. The golden spear brought out a smear of fresh blood. Then, without losing its momentum, it stabbed Ferri into the ground. The changes in the arena happened in the blink of an eye. When everyone came back to their senses, they saw that Ferri¡¯s throat had been pierced by the golden spear, and they were all shocked. What was going on? How did Hughes kill Ferri? Hughes did not pay attention to the shocked audience. He walked to Ferri¡¯s side and picked up the black pistol. Upon closer inspection, the pistol was glowing with black light. The surface of the black special alloy was covered with obscure magic arrays. Hughes held it in his hand and fiddled with it. Then, he held the handle of the pistol and looked at the sky carefully. ¡°Magical gun¡¡± Hughes looked at the magical gun that was emitting a faint light under the sunlight. He smiled faintly, but his smile was a little cold. This kind of magical gun was not used for training. Instead, it was a kind of magic weapon with great destructive power, some powerhouses who had reached a certain level of strength were able to engrave some magic arrays on a special alloy. The user only needed to gently pull the trigger and they would be able to unleash a rather powerful magic attack. To make a magical gun, one needed a special alloy called the black alloy. This alloy was extremely expensive to make. In addition, to make a magical gun, one needed to have extremely precise control over the magic energy. Moreover, the failure rate was extremely high, therefore, this was one of the reasons why magical guns were so rare. The one in Hughes¡¯ hand right now, judging from its manufacturing technology, was probably a person of the grand magic level. Even if they were hit by it, they would suffer quite a heavy blow. Ferri really wanted to kill him. ¡°What¡¯s going on?¡± Archmage Rodney rushed onto the stage. He looked at Hughes and asked. Hughes did not care at all and threw the magical gun in his hand to Archmage Rodney. Archmage Rodney looked at the magical gun in his hand. His expression quickly darkened. However, when he turned his head to look at Ferri, who was stabbed into the ground¡ there was a hint of sadness in his voice. ¡°Ferri took the liberty to use the magical gun after the competition ended.¡± ¡°Magical gun?¡± Many of the surrounding students had their attention focused on his words. When they heard the words ¡®magical gun¡¯, they were instantly in an uproar. ¡°How shameless. He even took out the magical gun!¡± ¡°As expected of the young patriarch of the number one family in San Pedro. He was really rich. Hehe.¡± ¡°However, even though that¡¯s the case, Hughes killed him after all. Will Ferri¡¯s family let him off?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know! It seems that Hughes will have a hard time in the future!¡± ¡ The white-haired old man and Archmage Clyde also rushed onto the stage. Archmage Rodney also walked over and explained the situation. Then, everyone saw the white-haired old man¡ his expression turned extremely angry. ¡°Dean, although Ferri was in the wrong, after all, Hughes killed someone. I think this matter should be dealt with seriously,¡± Archmage Clyde hurriedly said when he saw this. ¡°Clyde, do you mean that you want my disciple to stand there and be shot by the magical gun? Or do you want to wait until my disciple is seriously injured or killed by him before you¡¯ll settle the matter?¡± He had not seen the person but had heard her voice first. When this voice sounded, Hughes immediately recognized who it was. Very soon, Kate¡¯s figure appeared in the arena. Kate¡¯s gaze was slightly cold as she glanced at Archmage Clyde and said, ¡°What do you want?¡± ¡°It¡¯s not that I want to do anything. The Lach Academy has rules. This kind of matter should be handled according to the rules,¡± Archmage Clyde said indifferently. Kate¡¯s eyes flashed coldly. He was about to say something when he was interrupted by the white-haired old man. He looked at Archmage Rodney and asked, ¡°How should we deal with this?¡± ¡°According to the rules, Ferri would have been expelled from the Lach Academy and the whole world will know about this incident.¡± Archmage Rodney replied after thinking for a moment. Archmage Clyde¡¯s expression changed drastically when he heard this. If this matter was made public, then Ferri¡¯s family would really be disgraced. No one would dare to do business with them in the future. ¡°However, Hughes is guilty of murder after all. If this matter is let go, I¡¯m afraid the Ferri family will have a hard time explaining themselves!¡± Archmage Rodney said after a pause. At this point, the white-haired old man shook his head. Then, he looked at Archmage Clyde and said, ¡°Sigh, I¡¯m old and useless. My eyesight has been a little worse recently.¡± When Archmage Clyde heard the white-haired old man¡¯s words, he was stunned for a moment. Then, he bowed respectfully. ¡°However, he has violated the rules. How about this? He will be punished to go to the church every day!¡± The white-haired old man said to Archmage Clyde with a smile. Upon hearing this, Archmage Clyde bent even lower. ¡°Alright, that¡¯s it for today! I¡¯m a little tired, I¡¯ll be going back first.¡± Only after the white-haired old man had left for a long time did archmage Clyde dare to straighten his back and wipe the sweat off his forehead. Because he knew that the dean was just beating him up. At the same time, he was also using his own mouth to warn Ferri¡¯s family that he was not dead yet. If anyone wanted to interfere in the matters of the Lach Academy, he would give them a severe blow. Chapter 23 Time flowed like water. In the blink of an eye, three days had passed. Originally, three days ago, Hughes had planned to go to the church that the Dean had mentioned. However, he had asked Kate to stay behind and explain the church. It turned out that the church was a teleportation portal. It was especially capable of teleporting mages to a world where there was no light. That world was called the catacombs. Basically, most of the monsters outside San Pedro were suppressed in this world. This church was also an important place guarded by the Lach Academy of Magic. Other than that, there would be students dying in there every year. However, there was nothing that could be done in order to gain experience. Therefore, Kate left Hughes behind to explain the world inside to him. This lecture lasted for three days. Kate told him that he could go to the church today. After hearing the news, he was so happy that he hurriedly thanked Kate. ¡°Thank you, teacher!¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes lit up. He finally had a chance to go. San Pedro was a super large city. There were no monsters outside the city. If he wanted to go, he could only go to the catacombs of Lach Academy. ¡°Even so, it¡¯s still very dangerous because there might be a beast tide in the crypt every day.¡± Kate¡¯s expression was solemn as she said, ¡°If you¡¯re near the base, it¡¯s still fine. But if you¡¯re far away, then it¡¯s hard to say.¡± ¡°Teacher, I understand.¡± Hughes nodded. He wasn¡¯t stupid. He did not have enough strength yet, but he still wanted to go on a rampage. Would that not just be suicide? Kate thought for a moment, then immediately took out two glass bottles from the drawer. Each of them was the size of an ordinary mineral water bottle. Then she took out an iron box and said, ¡°These two bottles are for pain relief. In the iron box is a bottle of blood recovery pills for healing. Please take it.¡± Hughes was a little touched. ¡°Teacher, this is too expensive.¡± According to what Hughes knew, these things were worth about 50,000USD. A teacher casually giving out 50,000USD was not a laughing matter. ¡°If I tell you to take it, then you take it.¡± Kate rolled her eyes. ¡°Don¡¯t be so polite with me.¡± ¡°Of course, it¡¯s just this once. I don¡¯t have that much money.¡± Hughes smiled. In reality, he did not need these. With the light magic¡¯s self-healing ability, it was more effective than any healing ability. Moreover, the light magic¡¯s self-healing ability was a type of healing ability. It was not directed at him but targeted at himself. It was equivalent to a passive skill, and there was no such thing as control. Of course, at this stage, Hughes did not intend to tell this secret to others. But he still accepted it. ¡°When do you plan to go?¡± Kate said, ¡°I suggest you go to the base to take a look first and then find some companions who are pleasing to the eye. It would be even better if you have a senior with you.¡± ¡°Okay.¡± Hughes nodded. Of course, he would not go with anyone. On one hand, he could not trust anyone. On the other hand, what if his secret was exposed? The tunnel of the San Pedro city was located directly north of the school. When Hughes arrived, he suddenly had a somber aura. A magnificent tower stood in front of him. Around the tower, a terrifying aura spread and gathered into a torrent that rushed into the sky. Those were the auras of the powerhouses in San Pedro City and the Lach Academy of Magic. Below the tower, there were troops stationed. These troops were sent by the city Lord¡¯s Mansion of San Pedro to assist the Lach Academy of Magic. Although the Lach Academy of Magic had many powerhouses, there were few in the middle or even at the bottom. It was impossible for them to send students to be stationed there. When they reached the foot of the tower, a teacher from the Lach Academy who was stationed there immediately went up and asked. ¡°Student, let me see your pass.¡± This teacher was about forty years old. He was not old, but there were many scars on his face. The most obvious one was a tear from his forehead to his chin. Although the teacher¡¯s face was quite amiable, if an ordinary person saw it, they would definitely be shocked. ¡°Hello.¡± Hughes handed over his identification card and was filled with respect for this teacher. Before he came, Kate had already said that there were some teachers from the Lach Academy of Magic who was stationed here almost all year round. Once the base in the catacombs could not be defended, these teachers would immediately go down. In the Lach Academy of Magic, these teachers might not be the strongest. But they were the most respected. Even Kate would salute them every time she saw them. ¡°So you just reported in.¡± The teacher sized up Hughes and said, ¡°Young man, you have guts. ¡°But you must be careful.¡± ¡°Thank you, teacher, I will.¡± Hughes said. After entering the tower, Hughes immediately saw a black hole emitting black light. The black hole was about two meters in diameter, and just looking at it made one¡¯s heart palpitate. Through the black hole, Hughes could also smell the thick scent of blood. This was the tunnel that led to the catacombs. No one knew how the tunnel came about. No one knew if it would appear again elsewhere. At the very least, Hughes had never seen this information on the internet. ¡°Buzz.¡± The moment Hughes stepped into the tunnel, everything around him instantly went dark. It was darker than the night, and everywhere was filled with the smell of death and blood. Even though Hughes was mentally prepared, he still frowned slightly. Hughes knew that the situation of the human race might be more severe than he had imagined. The tunnel was quite short. Soon, Hughes walked out of the black hole. ¡°This is¡¡± When Hughes looked around, his pupils contracted. He was in a huge square. There were soldiers and teachers and students of the Lach Academy training in the square. Around him were buildings made of alloy. Almost every building was covered in scuff marks. Some of them were even more than half destroyed. Workers were rushing to build them back up. Obviously, a beast tide had just occurred here. Further away, there was an alloy wall that was about a hundred meters high. The entire base was located within the wall. The alloy wall was also riddled with marks. These were demon beast scratches and bite marks all over it. ¡°So many magical weapons.¡± Hughes muttered after looking around. There were densely packed holes on the wall, and inside the holes were powerful psionic weapons. In the tunnel of the underground cave, ordinary thermal weapons were useless. Only new alloy weapons that were infused with mana could be used. ¡°Strange, there¡¯s no sun?¡± Hughes raised his head and saw that the sky was gray. It gave off an extremely oppressive feeling. But although there was no sun, it wasn¡¯t particularly gray. ¡°Roar!¡± Just then, the roar of a demon beast sounded from the depths of the forest. ¡°There are demon beasts nearby!¡± Chapter 24 Hughes¡¯ eyes lit up, and he sped up a little, advancing quickly along the direction where the demon beast¡¯s voice came from. After walking for a few minutes, he saw the source of the demon beast¡¯s voice in the forest. It was a huge iron-skinned pig, and beside its feet, there was a dying gale wolf. The howl just now should have come from that gale wolf. ¡°Huff, huff.¡± The iron-skinned pig opened its mouth wide and directly bit at the gale wolf, starting to eat in large mouthfuls. As it enjoyed the delicious food, it did not notice that Hughes was hiding behind the tall trees more than ten meters away ¡°It really is the iron-skinned pig.¡± Hughes smiled slightly and walked out from behind the trees with the flying tome. Demon beasts had the ability to release magic. However, this was only limited to the demonic beasts of some races, like this iron-skinned pig. Although it had the talent of earth elemental magic, it only had a huge body and thick skin. Therefore, as long as it was a little careful, it did not have to worry that this demonic beast would hurt it. ¡°Roar!¡± Noticing that a human was approaching, the iron-skinned pig immediately stopped eating. Its scarlet eyes stared at Hughes, who was not far away, and it directly launched an attack! Rumble¡ The running iron-skinned pig was like an armored vehicle that was traveling at high speed, and it directly crashed into the tall trees along the way! In the blink of an eye, it was within a few meters of Hughes! The iron-skinned pig¡¯s eyes were scarlet, and there was still the flesh of the gale wolf in its mouth. Coupled with its huge body, it looked incomparably ferocious and dangerous! If an ordinary magician were to face it, they would definitely be so scared that they would not even have time to mobilize their mana! However, after experiencing so many things, there was not even a hint of emotion in Hughes. Just this? This was too useless! He smiled slightly, waved his right hand, and the tome in the air began to turn its pages. Then, spots of golden light slowly floated out. One sentence was heard, ¡°Chained light arrows.¡± The golden light dots around instantly turned into a golden spear, and then shot toward the iron-skinned pig with a thunderous momentum! ¡°Roar!¡± Sensing the dangerous aura on the golden spear, the iron-skinned pig, who was running, subconsciously stopped, and then let out a threatening roar! Rumble¡ The golden spear carried an indomitable aura as it struck the iron-skinned pig¡¯s most vulnerable abdomen. Then, an intense golden light burst out. ¡°Roar!¡± The iron-skinned pig let out a shrill scream. Its entire body was burned by the temperature of the golden spear, and then it crashed to the ground! ¡°Ding, you have killed a high-level demon beast, iron-skinned pig. Obtained 20 mana points.¡± ¡°Mana points!¡± Hughes opened his attribute panel. [Host: Hughes] [Realm: high-level mage, (Low-level)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: 55 points] [Magic: Chained Light Arrow (control), light sword (low-level), blind (low-level)] [Contracted Magic Beast: None] [Magic Tool: Lorelei¡¯s Secret Tome] ¡°Sure enough, killing the demon beasts is the fastest way to become stronger!¡± Hughes was delighted and said in his mind, ¡°System, add all the mana points to your cultivation.¡± ¡°The mana points are too low, you need more mana points to use.¡± The system¡¯s cold voice sounded. ¡°More mana points? That¡¯s easy. I¡¯ll just kill more monsters.¡± Hughes raised his eyebrows and walked forward, looking at the iron-skinned pig that had lost its breath. The iron-skinned pig¡¯s skin was originally brown, but under the attack of Hughes¡¯s golden spear, its entire body had turned red. Even the air was filled with the aroma of roasted meat. ¡°In the future, if all the demon beasts are eliminated, with my light magic, it should be pretty good to be a roasted meat master.¡± Hughes smiled slightly and crouched down, ready to collect his spoils of war. The demon beasts that evolved under the influence of magic power not only had magic cores in their bodies, but their flesh and blood were also very beneficial to humans! However, he had not planned to collect the flesh and blood. One reason was that the corpses of the demon beasts were too huge, and there was too much flesh and blood, so it was not easy to carry them. Another reason was that it was forbidden to take away the flesh and blood of the demon beasts in this catacombs, and only the magic cores could be taken away. Hughes guessed that this was probably because some of the flesh and blood of the demon beasts carried a virus, in order to prevent one from causing a plague. The magic core of the gale wolf was very easy to harvest. After searching for a while, he found it. The magic core of the iron-skinned pig was not easy to get. Because it was killed with a golden spear, the entire body of the iron-skinned pig was very well preserved. And the iron-skinned pig was a beast with rough skin and thick flesh. Hughes, who did not carry a knife with him, really had no idea where to start. ¡°Looks like I¡¯ll have to bring a sharper knife with me next time.¡± Hughes shook his head. He was not discouraged. With a wave of his hand, more than ten golden spears formed and bombarded the iron-skinned pig. Instantly, the smell of meat filled the air again. After doing this many times, the iron-skinned pig¡¯s corpse was finally bombarded. ¡°Is this considered animal cruelty?¡± Looking at the body of the iron-skinned pig, which was already riddled with holes, Hughes shook his head. After being continuously burned, the entire body of the iron-skinned pig became a little crispy. He only exerted a little force and reached into the belly of the iron-skinned pig. Then, he took out the yellow magic core. ¡°This is the magic core, the most valuable thing in the body of a demon beast.¡± Hughes carefully observed the two magic cores in his hands, one green and one yellow. These two magic cores were extremely round, and they were still emitting a faint magic energy fluctuation. According to the race, the size, type, and use of the magic cores in the body of a demon beast were also different. Just like the yellow one of the iron-skinned pig, the slightly larger one was a high-level low-level earth magic core. As for the gale wolf¡¯s green one, the slightly smaller one was a middle-level high-level wind magic core. ¡°A high-level low-level magic core can be sold for 40,000 to 50,000 dollars outside. The two in my hand now are worth 70,000 to 80,000 dollars outside, which is equivalent to the total income of an ordinary family in a year!¡± Hughes played with the two magic cores in his hand and sighed inwardly. In the past, because of the death of his parents, his monthly living expenses were only 1,000 dollars. Now, after casually killing a demon beast, he already had several years¡¯ worth of living expenses! However, he also knew that this was because he was a magician with the talent of SS-grade light magic. If it were any other ordinary magician, this iron-skinned pig would basically require four magicians to work together to kill it! ¡°As expected, no matter where it is, the rare ones are always the best.¡± Hughes smiled slightly, placed the two magic cores into his backpack, and then left the second floor. The smell of flesh and blood would attract other demon beasts, so he could not stay here any longer. Chapter 25 It was 7 pm in the evening. In the mountain forest, a ground-piercing tiger was leisurely walking on the rugged mountain path. Its body was extremely huge. Its height was about 1.5 meters, and its body was about 2 meters long! Its entire body was covered in yellow and black stripes, and on its forehead was a large symbol that resembled the word ¡®king¡¯ in a foreign language! Right at this moment, it sniffed the air with its nose, and its gaze suddenly turned to the tallest tree on the side, and then it let out a deafening roar. ¡°Roar!¡± ¡°As expected of a creature that is difficult to deal with among high-level and low-level demon beasts. It actually found me just by relying on its nose.¡± Accompanied by a low voice, Hughes walked out from behind the tall tree helplessly. ¡°Roar!¡± The sudden appearance of a human¡ the ground-piercing tiger¡¯s muscles contracted, and it immediately entered into battle mode! Bang! Its eyes were red, and then its body glowed with an earthen yellow light. Immediately after, the earth seemed to be pulled by an invisible force, forming numerous sharp spikes that stabbed towards Hughes. ¡°I¡¯ve long been preparing for this move.¡± Hughes smiled slightly, and with a stomp of his feet, he directly retreated three to four meters away. After landing, he just happened to leave the range of the ground-piercing tiger! The ground-piercing was an earth-type demon beast. Moreover, it was one of the rarer demon beasts among the high-level and low-level demon beasts that could release magic. The earth spike that suddenly appeared on the ground in front of Hughes was his masterpiece! Earlier this afternoon, Hughes had killed countless tigers already. He knew its patterns like the back of his hand. That was why he could dodge these earth spikes so easily. ¡°Now it¡¯s my turn! Chained light arrows!¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes flashed, and the tome in the air began to flip its pages. As the tome slowly flipped, more than ten golden spears formed from light magic appeared. Whoosh! Whoosh! The golden spear was like a sharp arrow, whistling as it approached the ground-piercing tiger at an extremely fast speed. The golden spear was now twice as long as before, and its width had also greatly increased. Compared to the golden spear from before, this was much more awe-inspiring. And that gigantic ground-piercing tiger actually seemed to have seen its natural enemy. After roaring, it actually turned around and wanted to escape! ¡°Only now do you want to escape? It¡¯s a little too late!¡± Upon seeing this, Hughes¡¯s heart raced, and the golden spear¡¯s speed suddenly increased. Then, with a swoosh, it directly pierced through the ground-piercing tiger. ¡°Hmm, my proficiency of the chained light arrows is getting higher and higher.¡± Walking to the ground-piercing tiger¡¯s corpse, Hughes smiled slightly. The chained light arrows had already been upgraded to the mastery stage, but they could not be increased by mana points. Moreover, the power of the light sword of punishment sin was too great. Therefore, he could only increase the proficiency of the chained light arrows first, and it would be best if he could train it to the point where it could be wielded like an arm. Crouching beside the body of the ground-piercing tiger, Hughes took out a sharp dagger and began to dissect it. He had bought this dagger from a classmate he met in the underground cave. Otherwise, it would be too troublesome if he had to use the chain light arrow multiple times to retrieve the magic core. After a while, he took out a fist-sized earthy yellow magic core from the stomach of the ground-piercing tiger and put it back into his backpack. ¡°This is all money!¡± Looking at the various magic cores in his backpack, Hughes could not help but smile happily. From 10 am until now, he had killed four ground-piercing tigers, three gale wolves, three iron-skinned pigs, and three shadow snakes. From the bodies of these demon beasts, he had collected a total of 13 magic cores! Although the levels of these magic cores were mostly different, he roughly estimated that the value of these things was at least 300,000USD! In just seven to eight hours, he had earned over 300,000USD! He would never dream of earning such money in the past. After confirming the number of magic cores in his backpack, Hughes opened the attribute panel again. [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Advanced mage, (Low-level)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: 375 points] [Magic: Chained light arrows (control +) , light sword of punishment (low-level), blindness (low-level)] [Contract Magic Beast: None] [Magic Tool: Lorelei¡¯s Secret Manual] ¡°I still can¡¯t use my mana points to level up?¡± Seeing that there was no plus sign on the status panel, Hughes frowned. What he wanted to level up now was as an elemental mage! When he became an elemental mage, he could prepare to collect the heavenly thunder material in nature and use it to hatch the purple thunder fire lion! ¡°Forget it. Since my mana points are not enough to level up, I¡¯ll wait until tomorrow!¡± Looking at the time on his phone, Hughes did not hesitate and turned around to leave. The underground cave at night was very dangerous. Even if he had a Tier 3 magic spell, he might not be able to guarantee his safety. As he had been hunting demon beasts near the entrance of the underground cave, he did not walk for long before he saw the entrance to return. At this moment, there were many people waiting in line at the entrance. ¡°Haha, our team killed a high-level low-level ground-piercing tiger today. After completing this mission, I can buy a new staff!¡± ¡°Congratulations, the ground-piercing tiger is the most difficult to deal with among the high-level low-level demon beasts. Killing one should earn a lot of credits, right?¡± ¡°That¡¯s for sure! It has a total of 40 credits!¡± ¡°Tsk tsk, 40 credits, that¡¯s really not bad. Our team wandered around inside for a whole day, but only managed to kill one high-level and low-level gale wolf.¡± ¡°Your team doesn¡¯t have a contracted beast. To be able to achieve this level is already considered not bad.¡± ¡°Sigh, contracted beasts are too expensive. After buying the staff, battle uniform, and medicine, there isn¡¯t money left to buy the contracted beasts.¡± ¡°It¡¯s fine. After going to the catacombs a few more times, we can earn enough money to buy the contracted beasts.¡± ¡ As soon as Hughes went over, he heard the discussions of the middle school students in the team. ¡°If you knew that I killed thirteen demon beasts in a day, wouldn¡¯t you be scared to death by me!¡± Hughes, who was at the back of the team, could not help but think. At this moment, a sweet and pleasant voice came from behind. ¡°Hughes!¡± ¡°Huh?¡± Hughes, who was at the back of the team, turned his head and saw a group of four people walking behind him. The one who had called him was Alice. Chapter 26 There were four people in the group. On the far left were two girls, and on the right were two boys. The pleasant voice just now was from Alice. ¡°I thought it was you when I saw your back.¡± Seeing Hughes, the two girls seemed to be relieved and walked forward. Originally, the two girls had been fighting demon beasts at the foot of the mountain near the basement for the whole day to train their combat ability. However, when it was past five o¡¯clock in the afternoon, they were about to head back when they met the two boys next to them. They said that they wanted to go down the mountain together. Since the other party also comprised of mages, she did not reject them. However, she did not expect that the two of them would be showing off their abilities along the way, making the two of them extremely annoyed. Now that they saw Hughes, it was naturally as if they had seen their savior. ¡°Hello, Hughes. My name is Elise. What a coincidence. I didn¡¯t expect to meet you here for the first time.¡± The girl beside Alice also greeted him with a smile. However, when the two boys saw the two girls¡¯ attitude towards Hughes, a hint of displeasure flashed across their faces. However, they quickly recovered their smiling expressions and said, ¡°I¡¯m Derrick.¡± ¡°You¡¯re called Hughes, right? I¡¯m Barzel, and this is my companion, Derrick. Nice to meet you.¡± When Barzel and Derrick were about to leave after hunting the demon beasts, they bumped into Alice and Elise on the way. Naturally, they were extremely excited. This was especially so for Alice. Her demon-like figure and angelic appearance made their hearts stir. Therefore, they found a random reason to follow her down, ready to show off their charm on the way back. However, on the way back, no matter what he said, the two women¡¯s reactions were neither salty nor indifferent. Among them, the beauty they coveted the most showed a faint expression of annoyance. Now, seeing these two beauties smiling at a boy at the same time, they were naturally somewhat displeased. ¡°Mm.¡± His gaze swept over the two of them, and Hughes nodded his head faintly. Although the expressions of these two boys changed very quickly, he was still keenly aware of their displeasure. Therefore, he naturally would not be too enthusiastic towards the two of them. Seeing that Hughes¡¯ reaction was so calm, Brazel¡¯s heart suddenly ignited with an unknown fury, and he immediately wanted to flare up. But thinking of the two great beauties beside him, he could not help but forcefully suppress the displeasure in his heart and said with a fake smile, ¡°Hehe, this junior is also a special student like the two beauties, right?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± Hughes did not want to hang out with him at all, but since they were talking, he still replied indifferently. ¡°The younger generation is really awesome. You just entered school recently and already started venturing into the catacombs. Amazing!¡± ¡°After staying in the catacombs for a day, your harvest should be pretty good, right?¡± Barzel chuckled, and a hint of malice flashed in his eyes. ¡°Pfft!¡± Hearing Barzel¡¯s words, the surrounding students could not help but laugh out loud. Barzel looked at the people around him, puzzled, and then said, ¡°What? Did I say something wrong?¡± ¡°No, no.¡± The surrounding students quickly explained when they saw Barzel turning his head to look at them. However, the smile on their faces and eyes made their words not convincing. Barzel looked at the students around him suspiciously and thought to himself ¡®So what if Hughes was a genius? He was not the best.¡¯ No matter how much of a genius he was, he would at most be able to master a Tier 1 spell. Entering the catacombs would definitely result in nothing! He steeled his thoughts. He wanted Hughes to make a fool of himself in front of everyone. Thinking of this, his expression returned to normal. ¡°It¡¯s alright. It¡¯s just so-so.¡± Hughes replied calmly. Although the mana points that Hughes had obtained from hunting demonic beasts today were not enough to raise his level, it was still a lot of money. It could be considered a pretty good harvest. ¡°It¡¯s alright?¡± Listening to the indifferent tone of Hughes, Barzel subconsciously took his words as a cover for his lack of harvest. After all, he had just entered the school and did not have any companions. It would be impossible for him to enter the catacombs alone to kill the demon beasts. ¡°That¡¯s good.¡± Barzel chuckled, then said in an experienced tone, ¡°It¡¯s not bad.¡± ¡°For freshmen like you who have just entered the school, it¡¯s definitely not good to enter the catacombs in the beginning. However, it¡¯ll be better if you come a few more times in the future.¡± At this moment, Derrick also chimed in: ¡°Yes, students like you should come here more often to train.¡± ¡°Of course, it would be even better if there were mages with more combat experience to guide you.¡± ¡°Take Barzel for example. He killed two wind wolves today and obtained two magic cores!¡± ¡°These two magic cores can be sold for at least 80,000 dollars outside!¡± ¡°Today¡¯s harvest is considered the worst in Barzel¡¯s eyes!¡± ¡°So, if you come here again next time, you can ask Barzel to bring you here.¡± ¡°No, no, I just happened to meet two gale wolves today.¡± Although Barzel¡¯s tone was very humble, he had a proud look on his face. After saying that, he looked at the two girls and then said, ¡°Why don¡¯t we exchange contact information? Then we can make an appointment to come to the catacombs together.¡± ¡°I¡¯m sorry, I don¡¯t have contact information.¡± Alice said with a professional smile. She didn¡¯t have a good impression of Barzel, so how could she give him her contact information. ¡°No?¡± Barzel¡¯s face instantly turned livid. Mobile phones were one of the most commonly used tools in modern times. How could a university student not have a contact number? There was only one reason for this, and that was that she did not want to give it to him. Looking at Alice, who was soon chatting with Hughes, a shadow flashed through Barzel¡¯s heart. Could it be that these two beautiful women were going to leave him just like that? At this moment, he suddenly saw the inspection door in front of the team. He seemed to have thought of a method, and then he revealed a malicious smile. When he passed through the inspection door, Hughes¡¯ backpack would definitely be opened for inspection, and the fact that he did not get anything would definitely be discovered! At that time, the two beautiful women would definitely lie and despise him because of that! Thinking of this, the smile on Barzel¡¯s face became even brighter. He completely did not care that Alice and Hughes were talking and laughing. The line shortened quickly, and soon it was Hughes¡¯ turn. Chapter 27 ¡°Hello, student. Please open your backpack and let us check it.¡± The staff member at the door said with a smile. ¡°Oh? You need to check it even when you go out?¡± Hughes said in surprise. ¡°Yes.¡± The staff member nodded slightly and said, ¡°All the items obtained from the catacombs will be graded in the computer system. At that time, if you submit a mission, you will have some evidence.¡± ¡°I see.¡± Hughes suddenly understood. The mission materials must be obtained in the catacombs. The current detection method was to prevent students from buying mission materials in the outside world and then going to the mission building to submit the mission. ¡°Hughes, don¡¯t tell me you don¡¯t even have a magic core in your backpack?¡± Seeing Hughes stop, Barzel said in a strange tone. Alice and Derrick could not help but frown when they heard his sarcastic tone. ¡°How noisy.¡± Barzel really was like a fly, not biting people but making people uncomfortable. Thinking of this, Hughes said in annoyance, ¡°Although I don¡¯t have many magic cores in my backpack, I¡¯m still confident that I can surpass you by several times.¡± After saying that, Hughes poured all the things in his backpack onto the testing table. Crash! Crystal-clear magic cores rolled out from his backpack. Yellow, green, blue, and densely packed magic cores completely covered the testing table! ¡°You have so many magic cores?¡± The testing staff said in surprise. Even Alice and Derrick, who were standing beside him, opened their mouths slightly in surprise. Although they believed in Hughes¡¯s strength, the densely packed magic cores still gave them a fright. Barzel and Derrick, who were behind them, were instantly stunned when they saw the densely packed magic cores on the examination platform. How was this possible? How could a young mage who had just entered the academy kill so many demon beasts on his first visit to the catacombs!? ¡°Hahaha! Look at their expressions. I¡¯m dying of laughter.¡± ¡°I knew it. I was hoping for their expressions when they failed to act pretentiously. Now that I see it, it¡¯s not in vain that I¡¯ve waited for so long.¡± ¡°But then again, although I know that Hughes is powerful, the densely packed magic cores still scare me.¡± ¡°As expected of the ruthless person who was able to kill Ferri.¡± ¡ How was that possible? How could a young mage who had just entered the school kill so many demon beasts on his first visit to the catacombs!? ¡°Friends, I have a better idea.¡± ¡°Speak!¡± ¡°What if we tell him that Hughes has only been here for five days?¡± ¡°Yes, I think it¡¯s possible!¡± ¡°Let¡¯s do it, let¡¯s do it, friends.¡± ¡ ¡°Hey, those two in front.¡± ¡°I¡¯ll tell you a piece of good news for free. Hughes has only been here for five days.¡± After the student told them about Hughes, Barzel and Derrick felt as if their worldview had been broken by Hughes. They were shocked by Hughes. ¡°Four high-grade low-grade earth elemental magic cores, three high-grade middle-grade earth elemental magic cores, two high-grade low-grade wind elemental magic cores, one high-grade middle-grade wind elemental magic core, one high-grade low-grade dark elemental magic core, and two high-grade middle-grade dark elemental magic cores. ¡°Student, you have obtained a total of 13 magic cores this time. The type and level have already been logged into the computer system. If you submit a mission, you can directly bring these magic cores over.¡± After the shock, the examiner counted the number and said. These words caused a discussion among the mages who were not in the academy. ¡°F*ck, 13 magic cores? Who is that? Is It so powerful?¡± ¡°Didn¡¯t someone say that it was done by a newcomer who had just entered the academy less than five days ago?¡± ¡°Woah, a newcomer who had just entered the academy less than five days ago, hunted so many demon beasts by himself.¡± ¡°F*ck, are all the newcomers so powerful these days?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know, did you notice that there are no contracted beasts around him?¡± ¡°What does this mean? I don¡¯t need to say more!¡± ¡ The mission areas in the catacombs were strictly divided according to their levels. After entering the elemental mage registration, one could only go to the mountainside or other places. Therefore, there would not be situations where experts killed demon beasts in large numbers. And under the same level, it was extremely difficult to kill demon beasts! Even if it was a team of high-level advanced mages, they would only be able to kill seven or eight demon beasts in a day. For someone like Hughes, who had killed more than ten demon beasts in one go and was a specially recruited student who had just arrived at the academy, it naturally made the surrounding ordinary mages feel extremely shocked! ¡°Alright, I¡¯ll have to trouble you, teacher.¡± Hughes smiled slightly. Without even looking at Barzel and Derrick, he put the magic core on the testing platform into his backpack. ¡°Hughes, your harvest isn¡¯t bad!¡± Alice¡¯s beautiful eyes flashed with a strange light, then she said, ¡°Unlike him, I only have a few magic cores.¡± After saying that, a pile of colorful magic cores appeared on the table. It looked like there were at least seven or eight of them! ¡°A spatial pocket? As expected of a rich family.¡± Seeing this scene, Hughes could not help but sigh. ¡°A student with a spatial pocket? It¡¯s a little rare.¡± The staff looked at Alice with a strange look and then began to count. ¡°High-level low-level Earth elemental magic core, five, high-level intermediate fire elemental magic core, five, a total of ten.¡± ¡°F*ck, what¡¯s going on today? Why is there such a pervert here?¡± ¡°Compared to this, don¡¯t you feel that the dimensional pocket on her body is more surprising? A dimensional pocket, the cheapest one costs ten million US dollars!¡± ¡°Facing a beauty, you actually care about the magic core and dimensional pocket? It¡¯s too small, the layout is too small!¡± ¡°F*ck, she is indeed a great beauty and super strong!¡± ¡°Urk, these long legs, this chest, this appearance, why haven¡¯t I seen such a great beauty before in the catacombs?¡± ¡°They seem to be together with that Hughes. Could it be that she is also a special student this year?¡± ¡°Yes, it¡¯s very possible!¡± ¡ Meanwhile, the students on the other side looked at those ordinary magicians, who looked like they had never seen the world before. They could not help but feel a sense of pride in their hearts. However, they did not dare to flirt with Alice, because it was said that Ferri and Hughes had fought because of her. And now, everyone had seen what happened to Ferri. Therefore, three days ago, the first-year students of the academy had spontaneously set a rule that they could not provoke Alice. ¡ Chapter 28 Just as the ordinary mages around were discussing Alice¡¯s identity and appearance in shock, Elise, who was beside Alice, said, ¡°There¡¯s still me.¡± After saying that, another pile of magic cores appeared out of thin air on the testing platform. ¡°Another spatial pocket.¡± The staff members were already somewhat numb and immediately began counting: ¡°5 high-level low-level Earth elemental magic cores, 3 high-level intermediate fire elemental magic cores, a total of 8 magic cores. They have already been registered in your system information.¡± ¡°Tsk tsk, another girl from a rich family.¡± ¡°Amazing, these three should be together!¡± ¡°Should be. They all look very unfamiliar. It might be this year¡¯s special enrollment.¡± ¡°Ugh, this year¡¯s special enrollment is too fierce. This has never happened before.¡± ¡°Hehe, I don¡¯t care about the special enrollment. I¡¯m only looking at the two beautiful girls in the catacombs! Especially that black-haired girl with the baseball cap. I would like to call her the most beautiful woman in the catacombs!¡± ¡ Listening to the discussions of the people around, Elise pouted and looked at Alice and Hughes. She said cutely, ¡°It¡¯s all your fault. You stole the limelight!¡± ¡°I didn¡¯t know it would be like this.¡± Hughes smiled and said, ¡°If I had known earlier, I would have put you in front.¡± ¡°Hmph, it¡¯s too late for you to say that now! You¡¯ve stolen all the limelight!¡± Elise said childishly. Although she has not known Hughes for long, she felt like she clicked with him. Therefore, her words sounded very casual. ¡°Since the tests have been completed, let¡¯s go.¡± Alice chuckled and ignored Barzel and derrick. She wanted to walk out with Hughes and Elise. ¡°Bastard!¡± Barzel stared in the direction where the three of them had left and cursed angrily. However, he could only curse behind their backs. Whether it was Hughes, who killed 13 demon beasts in a day, or Alice and Elise, who had a dimensional pocket, they were not people he could provoke. ¡ At eight o¡¯clock in the evening, on the path back to the school, Hughes, Alice, and Elise were walking slowly. ¡°Hughes, you¡¯re very powerful. You killed 13 demon beasts in one day.¡± Elise, who was walking to the left of the two of them, revealed a beautiful smile and said. ¡°Fortunately, didn¡¯t the two of you also kill more than ten in total?¡± Hughes smiled slightly and said. ¡°But there¡¯s only so many because of the two of us together!¡± Alice, who was walking in the middle, suddenly interrupted. ¡°It¡¯s already very good that you two girls can do this.¡± Hughes could not help but say. The physical fitness of girls was still inferior to that of boys. Moreover, the two of them were fighting together, which meant that the dozen or so demon beasts of the two of them must have gone to search one by one and then worked together to kill them. Although it was faster for the two of them to kill the demonic beasts together, it would definitely take a lot of time to search for the demonic beasts midway! Just like that, the two of them were able to kill more than ten demonic beasts, which was enough to show how powerful the two of them were. Perhaps, the strength of these two people was not much different from his! ¡°You¡¯re saying that girls can¡¯t do it!¡± Alice¡¯s gaze was fixed on Hughes, which made Hughes lower his head and touch his nose. ¡°I¡¯m just saying that a girl¡¯s physical strength might be a little weaker.¡± ¡°Haha, I¡¯m just teasing you. Aren¡¯t we too good-looking?¡± Looking at the sudden burst of a smile, Hughes secretly gave a thumbs up in his heart. Yes, she was my type! He thought to himself. ¡°Oh right, Hughes, do you have a contact number? Let¡¯s exchange it.¡± Suddenly, Hughes said. ¡°Didn¡¯t you say that you don¡¯t have any contact information?¡± Hughes raised his eyebrows. ¡°I just got it, can¡¯t I?¡± Alice didn¡¯t want to be outdone and looked back. ¡°Yes, yes, let¡¯s exchange our phone numbers.¡± After looking at Alice for five or six seconds, Hughes was defeated. He took out his phone and saved her contact information. There was nothing he could do. She looked at him with her big clear eyes, making him feel that it was a very sinful thing not to agree with her. ¡°There¡¯s still me! I want your contact information too!¡± Elise, who was beside him, also interrupted. ¡°Okay.¡± Hughes nodded slightly. ¡°Since we already know each other today, why don¡¯t we have dinner together?¡± Elise, who had a plus-sign contact, said with a smile. ¡°Sure.¡± Hughes nodded with a smile. He still had time for dinner. The place Elise mentioned for dinner was not far from the Lach Academy. The three of them walked out of the academy and arrived there within a few minutes. The restaurant was not big, but it looked very exquisite. The decorations gave off an artistic atmosphere. Although the decorations looked very artistic, the dishes on the menu were very wild. ¡°There¡¯s even demon beast meat.¡± Looking at the ¡®roasted tiger meat¡¯ on the menu, Hughes couldn¡¯t help but raise his eyebrows. This dish was made from high-level ground-piercing tiger meat. And the processing of demon beast meat was very troublesome. He didn¡¯t expect such a small restaurant to be able to handle it. ¡°This dish is very good. You can try it!¡± Alice smiled and said to Hughes. ¡°From your tone, you used to come here often?¡± Hughes asked. ¡°Yes, the two of us are from San Pedro.¡± Alice smiled and said, ¡°Elise and I often came here to eat when we were in high school, so we are absolutely familiar with this place.¡± ¡°I see.¡± Hughes nodded slightly. ¡°By the way, do you guys want some wine?¡± Elise suddenly asked. ¡°No, I still have to go to the catacombs tomorrow, so I won¡¯t drink tonight.¡± Hughes shook his head. His mana points were not enough to level up, so he had to seize the time to kill monsters to get mana points. Drinking alcohol would affect his hunting progress tomorrow. ¡°You¡¯re still going tomorrow?¡± Alice and Elise looked at each other and saw the surprise in each other¡¯s eyes. One had to know that hunting demon beasts was not an easy task. In that kind of environment, he had to be focused at all times, and the body had to maintain a tense state for a long time. Under such circumstances, the two of them had only entered for one day, but they already felt physically and mentally exhausted and needed to rest for one or two days. Moreover, the advancement of a mage also required meditation. If they spent all their time on hunting demon beasts, it would be a bit of a loss. Chapter 29 Thinking of this, Alice reminded him: ¡°Hughes, actual combat training also requires a combination of work and rest. If you keep going to the catacombs, then you won¡¯t have the time to meditate and advance.¡± ¡°It¡¯s fine. I¡¯ve already planned it out.¡± Hughes said with a smile. The mana points had not reached the level where they could be upgraded. How could he give up on hunting demon beasts? ¡°Take care of yourself then.¡± Alice nodded slightly. Although she liked Hughes a little, she had only known him for a few days. Naturally, she could not interfere with his choice too much. Therefore, even if Hughes¡¯ choice seemed a little inappropriate to her, she did not say anything more. Two hours later, after eating and drinking to their heart¡¯s content, Hughes, Alice, and Elise walked out of the dining hall and headed towards the Lach Academy of Magic once again. ¡°Hughes, which dormitory are you in?¡± On the way, Elise asked curiously. ¡°Dormitory 213. What about you guys?¡± Hughes replied with a smile. ¡°We¡¯re both in dormitory 523. Elise and I are together. We¡¯re roommates.¡± Alice said while stroking her hair. ¡°Dorm 523? It seems to be right behind us!¡± Hughes raised his eyebrows. Yesterday, he took a look at the house number behind them. It seemed to be number 523. ¡°Yeah, we¡¯re in the villa behind you!¡± Elise smiled and said casually, ¡°If you come to visit us, we¡¯d welcome you very much.¡± ¡°Elise!¡± Alice¡¯s pretty face instantly turned red, looking very pretty. ¡°Let¡¯s talk about it in the future.¡± Hughes said with a smile. At present, he was not familiar with the two of them to the extent that he could visit them. Therefore, it was better to wait until he was more familiar with this kind of thing and then think about it in the future. The straight line distance from the entrance of the Lach Academy of Magic to the student dormitory was about two thousand meters. Hughes and the other two walked for nearly twenty minutes before they arrived. ¡°Goodbye, Hughes.¡± At the fork in the middle of the student¡¯s villa area, Elise said with a smile. ¡°Well, see you next time.¡± Hughes also waved goodbye. Just as he was about to turn around and return to the dormitory, a slightly flustered and melodious voice was heard. ¡°Hughes, remember to meditate more to improve your strength. Don¡¯t always go to the catacombs.¡± When Hughes turned his head to look, he only saw two figures that were already heading towards the dormitory. The black-haired figure on the left was even more flustered as she jogged. ¡°She¡¯s pretty interesting.¡± Hughes could not help but smile and walked into villa 213. ¡°Yo, you¡¯re back?¡± In the living room, Otis still looked like he had nothing to do. He was stroking the young windstorm wolf while watching TV. ¡°Yeah.¡± Hughes casually threw his bag onto the sofa and then sat down. Today, he had fought with the demon beasts for a whole day. It would be a lie to say that he was not tired. ¡°How was it? Did you get anything?¡± Otis said with a smile. He seemed to have seen the regretful expression on Hughes¡¯s face. ¡°It was okay. I only got some magic cores.¡± Hughes, who had sat down, finally felt that the fatigue on his body had eased a little. ¡°Some magic cores?¡± Otis was slightly shocked. Then, he suddenly looked at the slightly swollen backpack on the sofa and said in disbelief, ¡°You¡¯re not telling me that all of these are magic cores, right?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± Hughes nodded and directly opened the backpack that was thrown on the sofa. Suddenly, a colorful light was emitted, and it was even somewhat dazzling. ¡°F*ck, they¡¯re all magic cores!¡± Looking at the colorful magic cores that were poured from the backpack in Hughes¡¯ hand, Otis¡¯ eyes widened, and his expression was full of disbelief. ¡°F*ck, f*ck, you¡¯re really awesome!¡± Otis could not help but swear a few times, and then said, ¡°Hughes, no, big brother Hughes, you¡¯re my big brother from now on! ¡°When I go to the catacombs in the future, can you help guide me!?¡± Feeling Otis¡¯ burning gaze, Hughes felt goosebumps all over his body as he hurriedly said, ¡°Don¡¯t look at me like that. When you go to the catacombs for actual combat training, just tell me directly.¡± ¡°Haha, then thank you very much, Big Brother Hughes.¡± Otis laughed, appearing very happy. Originally, he had planned to wait until school started before going to the catacombs for actual combat training. However, now that he had the support of Hughes, his actual combat training time to the catacombs could be brought forward by a large margin! After finishing his conversation with Otis, Hughes returned to the second floor. Although he was very tired now, he still did not choose to rest. Instead, he walked straight into the training room and sat cross-legged on the ground. During this day¡¯s battle, he had not only gained magic cores. The most crucial thing was his actual combat experience and his proficiency in casting magic. Moreover, his spiritual power had become very active after a long period of time. Therefore, now was the best time to meditate! As soon as he entered the meditative state, Hughes felt that the speed at which he absorbed magic power was much faster than usual. ¡°As expected, meditating after a battle can improve my strength better.¡± Hughes was delighted and focused on meditating. On the other side, in villa 523. Alice and Elise, who had returned to the villa, also sat on the sofa. ¡°Phew, I didn¡¯t expect that killing demon beasts would be so tiring.¡± Elise sighed. This was also her first time killing a demon beast. Before this, she had thought that killing a demon beast was very easy. ¡°I think it¡¯s alright. I¡¯m not that tired.¡± Alice said after taking a sip of water. Elise rolled her eyes, then said with a wicked smile, ¡°Tch, your s-rank water magic talent can provide you with endless energy. Of course, you won¡¯t be tired. ¡°Besides, after staying with Hughes for so long, your fatigue has all disappeared.¡± Alice could not help but complain. ¡°Elise, if you¡¯re messing around, I¡¯ll ignore you!¡± ¡°I¡¯m not messing around. I wasn¡¯t the one who was concerned about Hughes at the fork in the road just now!¡± Elise giggled, then imitated Alice¡¯s tone and shouted, ¡°Hughes, remember to meditate more to improve your strength. Don¡¯t always go to the subterranean gallery.¡± ¡°Elise!¡± Chapter 30 Hearing this, Alice¡¯s pretty face immediately turned red. ¡°I was just concerned about a friend!¡± ¡°Oh, so it was concern about a friend,¡± Elise revealed a meaningful smile. When she was in high school, she had always liked to tease Alice. Basically, every time, she would return the other party¡¯s indifferent look. But now, it was different. Whenever the mention of Hughes was mentioned, the other party would blush and shy away. So, this also led to her liking to use Hughes to tease Alice. After all, not only did boys like to look at shy beauties, she also liked to look at them! Alice¡¯s perfect figure, fairy-like appearance, and shy posture, even as a girl, she could not resist calling out! ¡°You asked for this!¡± Looking at Elise¡¯s expression, Alice gritted her teeth and pounced on her, starting a tickle fight. Both of them had very good figures. Moreover, it was summer now, so their battle uniforms were taken off as soon as they entered the villa. ¡ The magic points needed to be obtained by hunting demon beasts to level up. Therefore, in the following period of time, Hughes began to hunt demon beasts in a frenzy. Every day, he would wake up at seven in the morning, wash up, and eat. Then, he would immediately go to the catacombs to hunt demon beasts and train his actual combat ability. He would only leave the catacombs at around seven in the evening and start to meditate. At around ten o¡¯clock in the evening, he would chat with Alice on his cell phone for a while, and then he would directly wash up and go to bed. Occasionally, he would take out a day to go to teacher Kate¡¯s side to ask some cultivation questions. Just like that, twenty days had passed. That day, at seven o¡¯clock in the evening, on the second floor of villa 213, in the training room. Hughes sat on the ground and stared ahead. In his line of sight, there was a light blue virtual interface: [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Advanced mage, (Advanced +)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: 1,451 points] [Magic: Chained Light Arrows (Arm wielding), light sword of punishment (intermediate), blind (intermediate)] [Contract magical beasts: None] [Magic tool: Lorelei¡¯s Secret Tome] ¡°I¡¯ve finally collected enough mana points to level up to an elemental mage.¡± Looking at the plus sign at the end of his realm, Hughes revealed a happy smile. A high-level advanced mage. Ten days after he first entered the catacombs, he had completed his advancement through the system. From high-level intermediate to high-level advanced, he had spent a total of ten days, 700 mana points. After that, he hunted monsters in the catacombs for another 10 days and finally gathered enough mana points to advance to an elementalist today. ¡°Advance!¡± Without much hesitation, Hughes directly used his mind to click on the plus sign at the end of the level. Bang! The moment he clicked on the plus sign, a dull sound came from his spiritual mind. Then, the golden demonic energy in his spiritual mind seemed to boil, moving crazily in an irregular trajectory in his spiritual mind. Moreover, new golden demonic energy appeared out of thin air in his spiritual mind, boiling with it! Whoosh! Whoosh! Outside, the demonic energy in the entire training room seemed to gather like a tornado, rushing toward the eye of the tornado in the middle. And at this moment, Hughes was at the eye of the tornado. ¡ At this time, on the first floor of villa 213, Otis sat on the sofa after training as usual. He was stroking the young wolf while watching TV. The wolf was now as big as a medium-sized dog. Stroking it was just right. ¡°Huh?¡± Suddenly, he sensed the unusual movement of magic power and frowned. He looked at the second floor. ¡°What is big brother Hughes doing? Such a big movement, even I can sense it.¡± Opposite, villa 523. Alice and Elise were wearing loose clothes. They looked like they had just taken a shower. They were sitting on the sofa and watching TV. ¡°Alice, do you feel the magic fluctuation from the opposite dormitory?¡± Elise, who was sitting on the sofa, suddenly asked in puzzlement. ¡°Yes, I felt it.¡± Alice nodded, and then said in puzzlement, ¡°Moreover, this fluctuation seems to be an advancement.¡± ¡°Advancement?¡± Elise was slightly surprised. ¡°The opposite dormitory is where Hughes and his roommates are. Could it be that one of them is advancing?¡± ¡°It¡¯s possible.¡± Alice¡¯s gaze focused as she looked at the second floor of the villa opposite. ¡°My contract beast told me that the abnormal mana fluctuations are coming from the second floor. It¡¯s very likely that Hughes is advancing.¡± ¡°Hughes?¡± Elise¡¯s pupils constricted as she exclaimed in surprise, ¡°Isn¡¯t he a high-level advanced magician who just advanced a while ago? It¡¯s impossible for him to advance again so quickly, right?¡± ¡°You have to know that even you and I have only just entered a high-level advanced mage not too long ago.¡± Apart from advancing through meditation, a mage¡¯s level could also be accelerated through some external means. As for her and Alice, apart from using the most advanced meditation technique, they had also been using magic potions to speed up. Even so, they were only high-level advanced mages. As for Hughes, they had also understood that before he became a mage, he was just an ordinary person with no other background. Under such circumstances, the resources that Hughes had would definitely be inferior to theirs. How could his level rise faster than theirs? Because they knew this, everyone was even more shocked in their hearts. ¡°I¡¯m just guessing. It¡¯s not certain whether it¡¯s the fluctuation of the advancement.¡± Alice picked up the watermelon on the coffee table and started to eat it. In San Pedro city, which was getting hotter and hotter, it was a great happiness to eat a mouthful of icy cold watermelon! ¡°By the way, should we go to the opposite side and ask them what¡¯s going on?¡± Elise¡¯s eyes lit up. ¡°That¡¯s not good.¡± Alice put down the watermelon and said with a silly look. ¡°What¡¯s not good about that? Don¡¯t you want to know whether or not Hughes has advanced?¡± Elise asked back. Then, she turned her eyes and pointed at the watermelon on the coffee table as if she thought of something: ¡°We can say that we were there to treat him to watermelon.¡± ¡°Alright then.¡± Although she was a little embarrassed about going to Hughes¡¯ place, Alice was really curious about his progress in cultivation, so she still agreed. ¡ Hughes did not know what was happening in the outside world. At this point, his consciousness was immersed in his spiritual mind, observing the changes in it. Chapter 31 In the spiritual mind, countless golden demonic energy particles were boiling and cheering. And, there was also an endless stream of golden demonic energy being absorbed from the outside world. Under this situation, the golden demonic energy contained in the spiritual mind was increasing at a speed invisible to the naked eye. Three minutes passed, and the golden demonic energy in the spiritual mind gradually stabilized. After another two minutes, the golden demonic energy in his mind completely stabilized. ¡°The amount of golden demonic energy has almost tripled compared to before!¡± Feeling the golden specks of light in his mind that were as bright as the stars, Hughes was delighted. Then, Hughes opened his eyes and slowly exhaled a mouthful of turbid air. ¡°My physical fitness has also increased a lot.¡± Hughes, who was casually moving his four limbs, instantly felt the changes in his body. ¡°Let¡¯s test how much the power of my magic has increased!¡± Hughes stood up, while Lorelei¡¯s secret tome followed by his side. Very soon, Hughes walked to the testing machine in the training room. He waved his hand and mobilized the magic energy in his spiritual mind. Then, a golden spear appeared out of thin air in an instant. He did not even have to use the magic array. ¡°Whoosh!¡± As the golden spear brought up a breeze, a golden light hit the testing machine in the training room. ¡°Attack power: 5000.¡± The testing machine¡¯s voice rang out. ¡°My power has increased by fivefold!¡± Hughes was shocked. When he was only a high-level advanced mage, he could kill monsters of the same level with his 1000 attack power chained light arrows easily. Now, that his power of magic had increased by five times¡ Does that mean that he could basically kill a low-level demon beast without even using arrays? ¡°This is too awesome!¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes flashed with excitement. In a battle between humans and demon beasts, because of the huge size of the demon beast, its skin was rough and its flesh was thick. Moreover, it could cast magic. Therefore, a demonic beast of the same level, without the help of a contracted beast, basically required the cooperation of three to four magicians to kill it! And now, not only could he kill a demonic beast alone, but he could also kill a demonic beast of a higher level! ¡°Ring, ring, ring.¡± At this moment, the ringtone of his phone rang. ¡°Blair?¡± Looking at the name displayed on the phone, Hughes immediately picked up. ¡°Hughes, the admission results for the college entrance examination are out.¡± Blair¡¯s broad voice came from the other side of the phone. ¡°Oh! Then which mage academy did you get into?¡± Hughes quickly asked. The college entrance examination had ended more than ten days ago. His former deskmate had mastered meditation and low-level magic, and his own talent as a magician was not bad. The final result as a magician was very high in the national rankings, so he was admitted to the Lach Academy where Hughes was. However, he did not pay attention to the admission notice during this period of time, so he did not know whether his deskmate had been admitted or not. ¡°I got in!¡± Blair¡¯s excited tone came. ¡°Just now on the admission notice, my name is on it!¡± ¡°It¡¯s good that you got in.¡± Hughes said with a smile, ¡°Remember to contact me when you arrive at the Academy.¡± ¡°Well, when I go to the Lach Academy of Magic, you have to protect me. You can¡¯t forget the days when we worked hard at St. Peter¡¯s High School.¡± ¡°Okay, I got it. I¡¯ll definitely treat you well when you come. I promise I won¡¯t let you suffer any grievances.¡± ¡°That¡¯s more like it. I¡¯m relieved to have you here. How has your stay at the academy been? ¡°Are there any beautiful girls?¡± ¡°Not bad, not bad at all. I have teachers to guide me every day. Moreover, the girls here are really not bad!¡± ¡ In the hall on the first floor of villa 523, two great beauties were sitting on a comfortable sofa. ¡°Elise, the abnormal mana fluctuations over there seem to have disappeared,¡± Alice said as she glanced at the dormitory across from her. ¡°Then let¡¯s go and see Hughes now.¡± Elise stood up immediately and continued, ¡°There should be a few watermelons in the fridge. Let¡¯s take them there together.¡± After saying that, she took a bag and placed a few watermelons from the fridge into a bag. ¡°Let¡¯s go.¡± Seeing Elise take the watermelons, Alice also stood up. ¡°Wait a minute.¡± Elise pulled Alice, and then said helplessly, ¡°My god, are you going to visit Hughes looking like that?¡± It was summer now, and Alice had just taken a shower, so she was only wearing thin one-piece pajamas. Therefore, her slender white legs and thighs were directly exposed, and even her chest looked like it was about to pop out. If she walked out like this, who knew how many people would be bleeding from their noses! ¡°Is there something wrong with this?¡± Alice looked down and her face instantly turned red. She jogged up to the second floor and said, ¡°Wait for me, I¡¯ll go and change.¡± ¡°Sigh, this Alice, when she heard that she was going to see Hughes, she probably forgot her own name in excitement.¡± Elise shook her head, then carried the watermelon and sat on the sofa. Because she took a shower earlier than Alice, she changed into her usual clothes earlier. So she did not have to worry about her skin being exposed. Ding dong! The doorbell of villa 213 rang. ¡°Coming.¡± Otis, who was slumped on the sofa, hurriedly stopped stroking the wind wolf and jogged over to open the door. ¡°Who is it?¡± As soon as he opened the door, Otis saw two tall and beautiful women standing at the door. The one on the left was about 1.7 meters tall. She had jet-black beautiful long hair and wore a floral dress. She had a breathtakingly beautiful face. Beside her was a beautiful girl with long silver hair. Although her figure and appearance were slightly inferior to the black-haired girl beside her. However, she was also extremely beautiful. In her right hand held a few watermelons. ¡°Alice? Is that you?¡± Otis was a little uncertain when he suddenly saw the two beauties. The difference between Alice¡¯s appearance today and that day was too big. ¡°It¡¯s me. We¡¯re here to look for Hughes.¡± Alice smiled politely and said. ¡°Looking for big brother Hughes?¡± Otis was slightly stunned, but he reacted immediately and said, ¡°Come in, I¡¯ll call big brother Hughes for you.¡± After bringing the two girls to the sofa and sitting down, Otis stretched his neck and shouted at Hughes. ¡°Big brother Hughes, someone is looking for you!¡± Chapter 32 ¡°Who would look for me at this time?¡± In the training room, Hughes frowned as he could only vaguely hear Otis¡¯ voice. Then, he said to Blair on the other end of the phone, ¡°Blair, I have something to do here. I¡¯ll call you next time.¡± After saying that, he waited for Blair to hang up the phone before he stood up and left the training room. When he walked downstairs, he saw Otis standing on the stairs and looking at him with adoring eyes. He excitedly said, ¡°Big brother Hughes, there are two great beauties here who are looking for you!¡± Otis had been training at home, and strolling around the academy for the past twenty days. The reason being, he wanted to get to know some pretty girls who studied here as well. However, in this short period of time, he could not even get the contact information of a single girl! And Hughes, who came a day later than him, got to know two girls at once, and two beauties at that! How could he not feel adoration? Maybe I should ask Hughes to teach me how to get girls instead of bringing me to the catacombs. Otis had thought to himself while possessing a fiery gaze aimed at Hughes. Hughes was already used to Otis¡¯ expression and ignored him. ¡°Alice, Elise, I knew it was the two of you with just a guess.¡± Looking at the two graceful figures on the sofa, Hughes smiled slightly. Although he had been in Lach Academy for more than twenty days, he spent most of his time hunting demon beasts in the catacombs. He had not spent much time socializing with other students. Only Alice and Elise could be called great beauties, and their relationship had changed to the point where they could just drop by anytime. ¡°Then you are really smart.¡± Alice smiled mischievously and pointed at the watermelon that Elise had brought over. ¡°This is the watermelon we bought today. It¡¯s quite sweet, so I thought I¡¯d bring it over to give you a taste.¡± ¡°Thank you.¡± Hughes did not stand on ceremony and directly went to a seat not far from Alice. He called Otis over and introduced him to Alice and Elise. ¡°This is my roommate, Otis.¡± After that, he said to Otis, ¡°They are one year above us. They are specially recruited students just like us. They live behind us. You have met the one on the left. Her name is Alice, and the one on the right is Elise.¡± ¡°Hello.¡± Alice and Elise nodded at the same time. ¡°Hello.¡± In front of the two strange beauties, Otis naturally could not stop staring at them. After greeting them, he took the watermelon from the table and walked into the kitchen. ¡°I¡¯ll go cut the watermelon.¡± Seeing Otis leave, Alice also relaxed. Lying on the back of the sofa, she looked at Hughes and said, ¡°Hughes, were you advancing just now?¡± Looking into Alice¡¯s clear and lively eyes, Hughes felt that if he were to lie, he would feel a strong sense of guilt. Moreover, there was no need to hide things like advancing. Therefore, he laughed and said, ¡°You¡¯ve already noticed it. You¡¯re really a smart girl.¡± ¡°You¡¯ve really advanced?¡± Elise, who was at the side, widened her eyes. Her mouth was open in the shape of an o. Clearly, she was extremely shocked. At first, they were just guessing. They had not expected Hughes to be able to advance so soon! ¡°It has only been twenty days since he became a mage, but he has already become an elemental mage. What a terrifying talent!¡± Alice said in a daze. Even in the Lach Academy, which had gathered the most talented mages in the entire country, most mages would become elemental mages at the end of their first year of university. Even mages with extraordinary talent would only become elemental mages in the second semester of their first year of university. For someone like Hughes, who had only spent twenty days to become an elemental mage, it was simply unheard of! Moreover, she also thought of something even more terrifying. During these twenty days, Hughes would often go to the catacombs to hunt demon beasts! Although the speed of meditation would increase after actual combat, for someone who spent most of their time on actual combat, the time spent on meditation and cultivation would definitely be far inferior to that of an ordinary student. However, even so, Hughes still managed to advance into an elemental mage! If he spent all his time on meditation and cultivation, how terrifying would the speed of his advancement be? Thinking of this, Alice suddenly stood up and said, ¡°Hughes, I still have to go back to meditate and cultivate. I won¡¯t disturb you further.¡± After saying that, she turned around and left. ¡°Yes, me too. Goodbye, Hughes!¡± Elise also quickly stood up and followed Alice, leaving Hughes¡¯ villa. ¡°It seems that I¡¯ve provoked you.¡± Looking at their graceful backs, Hughes chuckled. It could be seen from their previous battle results in the catacombs that Alice and Elise had very strict requirements for themselves. Now, the two of them were actually lagging behind an ordinary person without any background or influence. Naturally, they felt very anxious. ¡°Unfortunately, if the two of you want to catch up to me, I¡¯m afraid it will be a little difficult.¡± The corners of Hughes¡¯ mouth curled up, revealing a brilliant smile. Through this period of thinking, he had already known about the elemental talent of Alice and Elise as a mage. Alice had an s-rank water elemental talent, while Elise had an s-rank wind elemental talent. Among ordinary mages, the two of them could already be considered as the favored ones. However, compared to Hughes, who had an SS-grade light magic talent and an SS-grade dark magic talent, they were still inferior. Therefore, even with the disadvantage of his meditation technique, his advancement speed was still faster than the two of them. Moreover, he also had the help of the system. Under such circumstances, Alice and Elise¡¯s level as mages would never be able to catch up to him. ¡°Eh, where are the two of them?¡± Otis walked out of the kitchen with a plate of watermelons in his hands. ¡°They had something to do, so they went back first.¡± Hughes casually picked up the watermelons on the plate and took a bite. Mmm, iced watermelon, not bad indeed! Soon, the watermelon was finished by Hughes and Otis. After eating the watermelon, Hughes lay on the sofa downstairs for a while, then returned to the training room on the second floor. Chapter 33 Now, there was a book titled ¡®Light Tornado¡¯ in front of him. ¡°After I advanced to an elemental mage, I can also try to construct the magic array of the light tornado.¡± The light tornado was a tier 2 spell, Hughes had found the book in the library yesterday. After he became an elemental mage, he immediately wanted to learn new spells. ¡°It would be great if the system could learn magic directly, just like the light sword of punishment.¡± As he flipped through the light tornado, Hughes could not help but think. Although the system could use mana points to increase the proficiency of magic, it would not display it on the system interface if he had not learned the basics of magic, if it was not shown, it meant that one could not use mana points to increase one¡¯s proficiency in magic. This was also the reason why Hughes was still flipping through the magic book. When Hughes received the magic book ¡®Light Tornado¡¯ yesterday, he had already flipped through it once, but at that time, he had only skimmed through it. This time, he needed to read it carefully, and then study every key and difficult point of the spell formation. Finally, he would carve it into Lorelei¡¯s secret tome, and he would no longer need to carve the array before casting the spell. An hour later, Hughes finally closed the book and let out a long breath. ¡°The light tornado needs to use mana to continuously construct eight hexagram spell formations in ten seconds, and then overlap the eight spell formations. Next, it needs to construct ten mana symbols to be embedded in the overlapping spell formations. Finally, it needs to construct two circular spell formations around the eight hexagram spell formations to fix the spell formations.¡± Hughes, who was sitting cross-legged on the ground, lowered his head and pondered. From the magic array of a spell, one could basically determine how powerful a spell was. For example, the tier 1 spell, chained light arrows, and the tier 3 spell, light sword of punishment. The magic arrays of these two spells were very different. The former was basically a hexagram, and it could be constructed with two magic symbols and a circular array. As for the tier 3 light sword, it required eighteen hexagram arrays to combine to form a new magic array. Then, it required thirty-six magic symbols and forty circular arrays to be constructed. As for the construction of a complicated magic array like the light tornado, it was already considered very powerful among the tier 2 spells. ¡°But this is also good. The more complicated the magic array, the stronger the power of this spell!¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes flashed, and he immediately immersed his consciousness into his spiritual mind and began to practice the construction of the light tornado magic array. Whoosh! Whoosh! In his spiritual mind, the golden magic energy light spots began to arrange themselves under the control of his spiritual power. Very soon, a hexagram was arranged. Two, three, four! Not long after, four more hexagrams made of magic energy appeared in his spiritual mind. These four hexagrams were separated from each other and overlapped with each other. They emitted a golden light in his spiritual mind, looking extremely mysterious and gorgeous. Buzz. Just as Hughes was about to continue building the fifth hexagram, he lost control of his spiritual power. The four hexagrams collapsed instantly and turned into mana points that scattered in all directions. ¡°As expected, it¡¯s still too difficult for me to construct a hexagram in one go.¡± Hughes muttered to himself as he opened his eyes. It was already the limit for him to construct four hexagrams at the same time! However, he wasn¡¯t someone who would give up easily. If he couldn¡¯t do it once, he would do it a second time. Hughes focused his mind and his consciousness once again immersed in his spiritual mind. He continued the construction training of the light tornado magic array. ¡ Two hours later, in the training room, Hughes still had his eyes closed. His consciousness was still in his mind. ¡°Four, five, six, seven, eight! All the hexagrams have been successfully constructed!¡± In the nothingness of the spiritual mind, other than a few thin magical light spots, there was an extremely complex hexagram magic array! The hexagram array had a total of four corners, looking extremely mysterious and complicated. ¡°The construction of the hexagram is successful. Next is the magic symbol!¡± While maintaining the spiritual power to control the hexagram pattern, Hughes used his spiritual power to construct the magic symbol. Buzz. He had just constructed a magic symbol in the overlapping hexagram, and the entire magic array instantly collapsed and disappeared into the spiritual mind. ¡°Failed.¡± Hughes opened his eyes and frowned. The sigil. It¡¯s an integral part of the circle. It is also one of the keys to the resonance of the elements that the old masters summed up. Before that, though, he had studied quite a bit about magical symbols. But he was still very confused about this. He did not know why magic power symbols could resonate with the elements or why magic power symbols needed to be used in conjunction with the hexagram array. He had also asked teacher Kate about these questions before, but the answer he got was that before reaching the Archmage realm, he should not study the composition of magic arrays too deeply. Therefore, during this period of time, he had only forcefully memorized the basic construction method of magic power symbols and did not study them in-depth. He had not expected that just after he had constructed the first mana symbol, it had caused the entire magic array to collapse. ¡°Looks like I still have to practice constructing the mana symbols more in the future,¡± Hughes muttered. He looked at the time and did not continue his training. It was now eleven o¡¯clock at night, and it was already late. Moreover, the mana in his spiritual mind had already been used up. If he used meditation to recover, it would still take more than an hour. In that case, he might as well go to sleep and wait for his mana to recover on its own the next day. The next morning, Hughes woke up naturally and got up to wash up. After washing up, he did not go out to the catacombs. Instead, he went straight to the training room on the second floor and continued to study the construction of the light tornado magic array. After all, although mana points were important, mastering the light tornado was even more important! If he could not learn the light tornado, no matter how many mana points there were, they would be of no use without the spell itself. There was no way to use them to increase the proficiency of the light tornado! ¡°Let¡¯s begin.¡± Hughes took a deep breath and immersed his consciousness into his spiritual mind. After a night of rest, the mana in his spiritual mind had recovered to its full state. Under his control, the hexagram was quickly constructed. Next, the mana symbol was constructed. Chapter 34 Buzz~ With a soft sound, the entire light tornado magic array started to collapse. However, it was different from the situation last night when the magic array started to collapse. This time, the first magic array only started to collapse at the last point of construction. ¡°There¡¯s progress!¡± Husk was delighted and once again used his mind power to control the magic array and began constructing it again. This time, he successfully constructed the first mana symbol on the basis of the hexagram pattern! But immediately after the second mana symbol started to be constructed, and the entire magic array collapsed and dissipated. ¡°Again!¡± Hughes focused his mind and began to construct the magic array again. The hexagram was successfully constructed! The first mana symbol was successfully constructed! The construction of the second magic symbol was a failure! ¡°Again!¡± ¡ The construction of the six-pointed star was successful! The construction of the first magic symbol was successful! The construction of the second magic symbol was successful! The construction of the third magic symbol was a failure! ¡°Again!¡± ¡ The next morning, Hughes woke up punctually and got up to wash up. After washing up, he did not go out to the catacombs. Instead, he went straight to the training room on the second floor and continued to study the construction of the light tornado magic array. After all, although mana points were important, the mastery of the light tornado was even more important! If the light tornado did not enter the entry-level, no matter how many mana points he had, he could only use them to increase his level. There was no way to use them to increase the proficiency of the light tornado! Furthermore, he could not become the official disciple for the tier 7 great spell, Yao Zhentian! ¡°Let¡¯s begin.¡± Hughes took a deep breath and immersed his consciousness into his mind. After a night of rest, the mana in his spiritual mind had recovered to its full state. Under his control, the hexagram was quickly constructed. Next, it was time to construct the mana symbol. Buzz~ With a soft sound, the entire light tornado magic array began to collapse. But it was different from the situation last night when the entire magic array collapsed just as the mana symbol was being constructed. This time, the first magic array started to collapse at the last point of construction. ¡°There¡¯s progress!¡± Hughes was delighted and used his mind power to control the magic array again. This time, based on the hexagram pattern, he successfully constructed the first magic array! But immediately after the second magic array started to form, and the entire magic array collapsed and dissipated. ¡°Again!¡± Hughes focused his mind and began to construct the magic array again. The construction of the hexagram was successful! The construction of the first mana symbol was successful! The construction of the second mana symbol was a failure! ¡°Again!¡± ¡ The construction of the hexagram was successful! The construction of the first mana symbol was successful! The construction of the second mana symbol was successful! The construction of the third mana symbol was a failure! ¡°Again!¡± ¡ The hexagram was successfully constructed! The first magic power symbol was successfully constructed! The second magic power symbol was successfully constructed! The third magic power symbol was successfully constructed! The fourth magic power symbol was successfully constructed! ¡°Again!¡± ¡ Just like that, although Hughes had experienced many failures, he had also summarized many important points of experience in the construction of light tornado magic arrays. Therefore, the completion of constructing the light tornado magic array was slowly pushed forward in his relentless training. ¡ Six days later, on the second floor of villa 213¡¯s training room. Hughes sat cross-legged on the ground, his eyes closed, and there was not a single ripple on the outside. But in his spirit sea, waves of magic energy were surging! ¡°Hexagram, begin construction!¡± With an order, the demonic energy light spots in his spiritual mind began to arrange and gather in order. Not long after, the first hexagram array that was emitting a mysterious golden fluorescence was constructed. One, two, three! ¡Six, seven, eight! Soon, the Hexagram overlapped and formed a complicated pattern with four corners. ¡°Magic symbols, begin construction!¡± Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The magic light dots were like well-trained soldiers. They began to form mysterious runes and were embedded in the six-pointed star magic array. Not long after, ten mysterious runes appeared in the overlapping six-pointed stars. ¡°The magic runes have been successfully constructed. Next, the two outermost rings! I have failed more than twenty times. This time, I must succeed!¡± Under the effort of Hughes, a portion of the remaining magic light spots in his spiritual mind quickly separated and began to draw circles around the overlapping hexagram magic array. ¡°I must succeed!¡± The two rings began to be constructed and extended at the same time. One-quarter of their length! One-half of their length! Three-quarters of their length! The rings closed! Success! The moment the circle closed, the entire light tornado magic array was successfully constructed! In his spiritual mind, a mysterious magic array with four corners and a mysterious rune embedded in it, which was enclosed by two circles, rose up and then burst out with dazzling light! Buzz~ The light tornado magic array was completed, and magical energy surged wildly, ready to be released! Feeling the violent magic energy in the light tornado magic array, Hughes quickly settled down. With a move of his spiritual power, the entire magic array instantly collapsed. ¡°Phew¡ Fortunately, it wasn¡¯t fully released in the end.¡± Hughes opened his eyes and let out a sigh of relief. According to the description in the light tornado book, this spell could change the landscape. Once it was released in the villa, who knows what would happen to the villa. ¡°Attribute panel.¡± Hughes¡¯s heart skipped a beat, and he activated the system panel: [Host: Hughes] [Realm: Elemental Mage, (Low)] [Magic attributes: Light Magic (SS), Dark Magic (SS)] [Mana points: 0 points] [Magic: Chained light arrows (arm wielding), light tornado (low-level), light sword of punishment (intermediate), ignorance (intermediate)] [Contract Magic Beast: None] [Magic tool: Lorelei¡¯s Secret Tome] ¡°The light tornado has appeared on the system interface, which means I have successfully mastered the light tornado!¡± Hughes clenched his fist, his tone could not contain his excitement. The difficulty of constructing the light tornado magic array was far beyond his imagination. Even with his SS-grade light element magic talent, he had spent nearly a week to successfully cultivate it! ¡°Since I¡¯ve successfully cultivated the light tornado, it¡¯s time to head out of San Pedro.¡± Hughes turned his head to look at the corner of the training room. There was a cultivation box there. Inside the cultivation box, there was a purple egg that was about 40 centimeters tall. That was the adult purple thunder fire lion¡¯s egg that had the strength of a ruler-level demon beast! A month ago, he was still too weak to go outside San Pedro to look for natural lightning to hatch it. But now that he had advanced to become an elementalist and mastered the light tornado, he already had a certain degree of self-protection ability. So, it was time to enter San Pedro to hatch the purple thunder fire lion¡¯s egg! ¡°However, before that, I still need to verify the power of the light tornado.¡± Hughes thought to himself. Although the power of the light tornado was described in the books as extremely powerful. He still needed to verify the actual effect before he could confirm it. Otherwise, when he encountered a powerful demon beast, he would be embarrassed if the light tornado could not even break the defense of the demon beast. Chapter 35 It was 8 am in the morning when two mages walked into the square in front of the mission building of the Lach Academy of Magic. The mage on the right was about 1.8 meters tall. He was wearing a tight black suit and a magic book was floating beside him. The one on the left was slightly shorter than the one on the right and wore a red robe. In his right hand was a fiery red staff. These two people were Hughes and Otis. ¡°Big brother Hughes, have you finished your work?¡± Otis asked Hughes as he looked around curiously. This was his first time in the catacombs. Naturally, he was very curious about everything around him. ¡°Yes, I¡¯ve been spending time cultivating a spell recently. I only succeeded last night.¡± Hughes nodded slightly. The power experiment of the light tornado definitely could not be carried out in the training room of the villa. Therefore, he chose to come to the catacombs to experiment and release it. He also brought Otis along to learn about it. After all, this was also what he had promised the other party. ¡°What kind of magic can actually make you spend a week to train and study!¡± Otis asked in surprise. He knew that Hughes had the SS-grade light magic talent. Under such circumstances, low-level magic was basically not difficult for Hughes. What kind of magic could make Hughes spend an entire week studying? Otis thought. ¡°You¡¯ll know in a while.¡± Hughes smiled mysteriously and walked into the square area. ¡°Good morning, Hughes.¡± ¡°Big brother!¡± ¡°Good morning, Hughes!¡± ¡ As soon as they entered the square, many students in the square greeted Hughes. Hughes smiled and nodded. ¡°Who is he? Why do so many people know him?¡± A new team of external magicians asked the captain, puzzled. ¡°His name is Hughes, and he is a special student this year.¡± The captain looked at Hughes with envy. ¡°He killed an elemental magician on the second day of school! ¡°Moreover, after he entered the catacombs for the first time, he single-handedly killed more than ten demon beasts, shocking the entire academy! ¡°If that was all though, his popularity would not have reached such a high level. However, in the following twenty days, he would come to the catacombs every day to hunt demon beasts! ¡°Every time he hunted demon beasts, there would not be a single time when there were less than ten of them. ¡°It is said that some time ago, among the magic cores that he obtained, there were actually quite a few large demon beast magic cores!¡± ¡°F*ck, is he that fierce? This is the first time I, a high-level intermediate mage, have entered the underground world, and he, a specially recruited student, is already able to kill demon beasts at will?¡± The new team of external mages widened their eyes and looked at Hughes, who was not far away. Now they finally knew why this person was so popular. ¡°Sigh, there is no such thing as equals. Let¡¯s enter the underground world first. Today¡¯s goal is to kill two demon beasts.¡± The captain shook his head and then led his team of external magicians toward the direction of the catacombs. This scene happened all over the square. Otis, who had witnessed the popularity of Hughes, could not help but click his tongue. ¡°Big brother Hughes, aren¡¯t you a little too fierce? There are actually so many seniors who know you.¡± The seniors were fine, but there were some admiring and envious gazes. The fervent gazes of those seniors were what he was most envious of! ¡°I¡¯m fine.¡± Hughes said with a modest smile. This kind of situation gradually appeared on the seventh day that he had continuously appeared in the catacombs. Therefore, he had long been accustomed to the enthusiasm of these people. After Hughes finished greeting the people in the square, he brought Otis to the mission building to randomly accept a credit mission, and then entered the catacombs. ¡°Big brother Hughes, are we going to the mountainside?¡± On the mountain road, Otis asked with some doubt. They had already walked for more than twenty minutes. They had already walked past the foot of the mountain and were walking towards the mountainside. However, under the reminder of the staff of the mission building, he knew that it was the active area of the great demon beasts! ¡°Mm, I¡¯m going to find an intermediate great demon beast to try out my new spell.¡± Hughes nodded and said. To test out the power of the light tornado, the high the level of the demon beast he tests it on, the better. If it was not for the fact that he was not confident that he could kill an advanced great demon beast, he would have gone straight to the mountaintop. ¡°F*ck, you actually want to find an intermediate-level demon beast to experiment with a new spell? And it¡¯s an intermediate-level demon beast? Big brother Hughes, you¡¯re too fierce!¡± Otis revealed an expression of disbelief. Then, he gritted his teeth and said, ¡°Forget it. It¡¯s just a matter of time. Big brother Hughes, I¡¯ll take the risk with you.¡± ¡°You¡¯re quite loyal, man!¡± Hughes chuckled and released all his mana fluctuations. Then, he said, ¡°Don¡¯t worry. I¡¯ll protect you. Even if it¡¯s an intermediate monster, I¡¯ll still kill It!¡± ¡°F*ck! F*ck! F*ck!¡± Feeling the mana fluctuations that were dozens of times stronger than his, Otis was instantly dumbfounded. Then, he asked in a slightly trembling voice, ¡°Big brother Hughes, have you advanced to become an elemental mage?¡± ¡°Yes, I advanced a few days ago that night.¡± Hughes nodded and then withdrew his mana fluctuations. ¡°You¡¯ve already entered the elemental mage realm a few days ago? F*ck, big brother Hughes, you¡¯re too fierce!¡± While Otis was excited, his admiration for Hughes grew even more. As a specially recruited student, his talent was not just for show. Through this period of meditation training, he advanced to become an intermediate mage a few days ago. Originally, he was quite satisfied with his cultivation progress. But now, looking at Hughes, who had advanced to become an elemental mage, he felt that he was the younger brother of someone great! The closer he got to the mountainside, the more concentrated the roars of the demon beasts became. ¡°Roar!¡± ¡°Awooo!¡± Chapter 36 ¡°Roar!¡± ¡°Awoo!¡± ¡ The closer they got to the mountainside, the more intense the roars of the demon beasts became. Moreover, the roars made Otis tremble with fear and goosebumps. He subconsciously looked to the side, but he found that Hughes¡¯ expression did not change, his face was calm. As expected of the big brother of Hughes, he was indeed powerful! Seeing Hughes like this, the unease in Otis¡¯ heart had eased a little. ¡°Roar!¡± Right at this moment, a muffled roar suddenly sounded. This roar was incomparably loud, deafening, and even Hughes felt his eardrums ache slightly. Otis, who was at the side, covered his ears. ¡°It¡¯s the roar of a huge demonic beast!¡± Hughes¡¯s face lit up. Just the roar alone was enough to make him feel uncomfortable. It was very likely that it was a mid-level great demonic beast! ¡°Otis, let¡¯s go!¡± Hughes took the lead and ran in the direction of the sound. ¡°Big brother Hughes, wait for me!¡± Otis quickly followed behind Hughes. The roar was not far away from them. Hughes and Otis ran for less than ten minutes before they discovered the source of the sound in the forest! It was a huge grizzly bear that was about 2.5 meters tall and 1.5 meters wide! Moreover, there was a circle of earthy brown barrier around him! Race name: Earth ring grizzly bear Level: Intermediate great demon beast. Threat: low ¡°It¡¯s the earth ring grizzly bear!¡± After glancing at the grizzly bear, Hughes frowned. The earth ring grizzly bear was a race whose highest level could reach advanced great demon beast. Its body was huge and its strength was extremely strong. Even if it was a young beast, it had one of the toughest bones bone among ordinary demon beasts. Moreover, after the earth ring grizzly bear entered an intermediate great demon beast, it would form a circle of barrier made of earth elements around its body. Under the protection of this ring, the earring grizzly bear¡¯s defense would double. Therefore, the earring grizzly bear of an intermediate-level great demon beast was basically a ferocious demon beast that could walk unhindered in the catacombs! ¡°However, the high defense of this race can be used as an experimental proof of the power of the light tornado.¡± Thinking of this, Hughes relaxed his brows and revealed a smile. ¡°Big¡ big brother Hughes, the target of our attack is it?¡± Looking at the earth ring grizzly bear that was emitting a terrifying and dangerous aura in the distance, Otis subconsciously swallowed his saliva, and his legs were trembling. He felt that his small body might not even be enough to fill the gaps between the opponent¡¯s teeth! ¡°As a new mage, you will indeed be a little afraid when facing a demon beast for the first time, but don¡¯t worry, you¡¯ll get used to it after getting used to it.¡± ¡°Besides, don¡¯t you have a life-saving talisman on you?¡± Hughes said with a smile. Otis¡¯ reaction was considered pretty good among the mages who had encountered wild demon beasts for the first time. Some of them were so scared that they couldn¡¯t even speak. ¡°You¡¯ll be fine once you get used to it?¡± Otis looked at the tall grizzly bear whose eyes were flashing with a bloodthirsty light in the distance. He wanted to cry but had no tears. The first time other mages hunted a demon beast, they would start from the middle-grade or even low-grade advanced demon beasts. But he fighting a middle-grade big demon beast right from the start. He definitely could not withstand this! But fortunately, I have a talisman, and there¡¯s also big brother Hughes here. He pinched the talisman in his pocket and looked at Hughes beside him. Otis immediately felt a lot more at ease. ¡°Big brother Hughes, I¡¯m ready. Let¡¯s go and test your new spell.¡± Otis took a few deep breaths before he mustered up his courage and said. ¡°Go what? We¡¯re right here.¡± Hughes said with a smile. ¡°Right here?¡± Otis looked at the earth ring grizzly bear in the distance, puzzled. This place was at least four hundred meters away from the earth ring grizzly bear. If he cast a spell here, he wouldn¡¯t even be able to touch the fur of the earth ring grizzly bear. How could he test it? ¡°That¡¯s right, it¡¯s here.¡± A mysterious smile appeared on the corner of Hughes¡¯ mouth. An ordinary Tier 1 spell only had a casting range of about 40 meters. One had to be within a certain distance of the demon beast before they could kill the demon beast. However, the tier 2 spell, light tornado, was completely different. Even if it was just a beginner spell, its casting range was already 500 meters! Therefore, standing here, it could completely bombard the earth ring grizzly bear that was 400 meters away! ¡®The casting range is already so far, the actual power should not disappoint me!¡¯ Hughes¡¯ eyes flashed, and he began constructing the magic array of the light tornado in his spiritual mind. Mana was mobilized, and the eight hexagrams were first constructed. Then, one after another, mana symbols began to condense, embedding into the hexagrams. Finally, two rings were formed. They closed the entire pattern together and formed a complete magic array! At this point, the light tornado magic array was completed! ¡°Light tornado!¡± With a low shout, Lorelei¡¯s secret tome floating beside Hughes suddenly emitted a dazzling platinum light. Buzz buzz~ Then, light magic spakred out and a mysterious and gorgeous magic array condensed in the air. ¡°What kind of magic is this?¡± Looking at the extremely complicated magic array, Otis was shocked. How could an elemental mage build such a complicated magic array? Rumble! Rumble! The moment the light tornado magic array appeared, the originally dense forest was instantly swept away. Rip! As the light tornado continued to expand, it was like a huge meat grinder that quickly hit the body of the earth ring grizzly bear four hundred meters away! The earth ring grizzly bear was extremely huge, and its defense was extremely strong. But the moment it came into contact with the golden tornado, it was like a fragile toy. It did not even have time to react before it was directly turned into ashes! It only left a deep pit on the ground! ¡°This is the power of the light tornado!?¡± Looking at the scene in front of him, Hughes was excited. That was a mid-tier great demon beast, the earth ring grizzly bear, that usually required four low-tier elemental mages and four contracted demon beasts to barely kill! And he just used a light tornado to directly blast it into pieces! This power was really too strong! ¡°What the f*ck? What the f*ck!? Big brother Hughes, your magic is simply too awesome!¡± Looking at the huge crater left by the light tornado after it had hit the grizzly bear. Otis said incoherently, ¡°Amazing¡¡± Hughes came back to his senses and coughed dryly, saying, ¡°Alright, the power of my spell has been tested. Now, I¡¯ll bring you to the foot of the mountain to hunt demon beasts.¡± As an elementalist, he could not kill the demon beasts at the foot of the mountain alone. However, he could still teach Otis how to kill the monsters. ¡°I¡¯ll listen to big brother Hughes.¡± Otis quickly said. After witnessing the power of the light tornado, he had realized that a person like Hughes would definitely become a big shot in the future. If he did not suck up to him now, when would he do it? Chapter 37 The highest level of demon beasts at the foot of the mountain in the catacombs was only a low-level great demon beast. For Hughes, it was not challenging at all. It was also because elemental mages could not hunt demon beasts at the foot of the mountain. Therefore, for the entire day, he was basically guiding Otis in actual combat training. He did not hunt demon beasts to obtain mana points. At seven o¡¯clock in the evening, a large number of mages lined up at the entrance of the catacombs, waiting to leave. Hughes and Otis were also in line. Not long after, it was their turn to go through an inspection. ¡°Eh, why didn¡¯t You hunt demon beasts today?¡± The staff at the door looked at Hughes¡¯ empty backpack and asked curiously. In the past, Hughes¡¯s backpack was filled with magic cores and essence crystals. ¡°Today, I¡¯m mainly here to guide my roommate¡¯s training, so I didn¡¯t do anything.¡± Hughes explained with a smile. ¡°So that¡¯s how it is.¡± The worker came to a realization and let Hughes leave. ¡°It¡¯s my turn, it¡¯s my turn.¡± Otis excitedly took out the demon cores from his backpack and placed them on the testing table. ¡°Two intermediate-grade low-grade fire element magic cores.¡± The staff member who had finished testing smiled and said, ¡°The type and level of these two magic cores have been registered in your system. When the time comes, you can directly use the magic cores to submit the mission.¡± ¡°Yes, yes. Thank you.¡± Otis nodded his head with some excitement. Before going to the underground world, he had learned a lot of things about going to the catacombs on the school forum. Among them, it was specifically mentioned that it was very normal for mages who entered the catacombs for the first time to not gain anything. Usually, they had to overcome their fear of demon beasts three or four times before they would gain something. And under the guidance of Hughes, he actually killed an intermediate low-level gale wolf and an intermediate low-level iron-skinned pig on his first time entering the catacombs! Although the levels of the demon beasts were lower than his true level, he was already very satisfied with this harvest! ¡°Big brother Hughes, let¡¯s go, I¡¯ll treat you to a meal.¡± Otis said with a smile as he walked out of the exit. If it weren¡¯t for Hughes, he would probably have to wait for three to four months before he could kill the demon beasts. ¡°Mm, let¡¯s go.¡± Hughes smiled and did not refuse. ¡ It was already ten o¡¯clock in the evening after the meal. After leaving the restaurant, Hughes and Otis didn¡¯t wander around. Instead, they directly returned to villa 213. ¡°Boss Hughes, are we still going to the catacombs tomorrow?¡± In the living room, Otis asked expectantly. ¡°No, I have something to do tomorrow, so I can¡¯t accompany you.¡± Hughes shook his head. ¡°But after today¡¯s guidance, it should be much easier for you to kill demon beasts in the future, right?¡± ¡°Of course. The guidance of big brother Hughes is not for show.¡± Otis quickly said. The most difficult part of killing a demon beast was doing it the first time. And today, Hughes had helped him to cross this threshold. After that, he thought that it was much easier to kill demon beasts alone. ¡°That¡¯s good.¡± Hughes chuckled and then returned to the second floor. Pushing open the bedroom door, Hughes sat down on the chair and began to think about the arrangements. ¡°The power of the light tornado has already been tested today. According to the power that can instantly kill an intermediate level great demon beast, the earth ring grizzly bear, even if I encounter a higher level great demon beast, I have the confidence to kill it. ¡°If that¡¯s the case, my safety outside San Pedro City will also increase by a lot. ¡°Hmm, it¡¯s time to upgrade my equipment and prepare to go outside San Pedro City.¡± After becoming an elemental mage, he had been focusing on the construction and cultivation of the light tornado. He never had the time to buy new armor and equipment. Now that he was preparing to go outside San Pedro city, his equipment would definitely need to be upgraded. Hughes took out his phone from his bag and logged into the special app of the Lach Academy of Magic. Student number: 2031012 Name: Hughes Credits: 2600 Looking at the numbers behind the credits of the system, a happy smile appeared on Hughes¡¯ face. In the past twenty days, he had killed at least 200 demon beasts! When he submitted the mission materials, the credits he earned from completing the missions soared to 2600 points! If this was converted into US dollars, it would be 2.6 million US dollars! ¡°Just nice, with so many credits, I don¡¯t need to use the money in my bank card to buy equipment.¡± Hughes opened the shopping interface in the app and began to look for the equipment he needed. ¡°Light elemental mage battle uniform, two bottles of elemental mage mana recovery potions, and two bottles of spiritual energy recovery potions.¡± Hughes added the equipment into the shopping cart one by one. ¡°Oh right, I also need a backpack that can store demon beast eggs, and a demon beast bag that can store demon beasts.¡± Hughes swiped his finger and added two more items into the shopping cart. ¡°Hmm? There are spatial pockets in the mall?¡± All of a sudden, Hughes saw gorgeous spatial pockets on the shop¡¯s interface. Among them, the cheapest one cost 25,000 credits. Converted into US dollars, it was around 25 million dollars! ¡°Isn¡¯t this too expensive?¡± Hughes shook his head. Although he was very interested in spatial pockets, such a terrifying price was something he dare not even think about at the moment. After exiting the app¡¯s sales interface, when Hughes was about to pay the bill, he suddenly realized that the number behind the bill was actually showing 2,400 credits or 2,400,000 US dollars. ¡°Ugh, is an elementalist¡¯s equipment that expensive?¡± Hughes quickly looked at the price tag in the shopping cart. ¡°An elementalist combat suit for 500,000, an Elementalist¡¯s spirit recovery potion for 500,000, and a potion for 400,000. It¡¯s very normal.¡± Hughes was a little puzzled. Suddenly, he noticed the demon beast pouch in the last column, ¡®1,000,000 for a large demon beast pouch¡¯. ¡°Is a large demon beast pouch that expensive?¡± Hughes could not help but click his tongue. According to the information he found on the Internet, the purple thunder fire lion was an intermediate large demon beast when it was born. Therefore, he bought a large demon beast pouch. He did not expect that this large demon beast pouch would be so expensive! ¡°After buying these equipment, I only have 200 credits left.¡± Although the demonic beast pouch was very expensive, after a moment of surprise, Hughes still clicked on the checkout option. After all, if the purple thunder fire lion hatched outside San Pedro city, it would be too ostentatious if he didn¡¯t use the demonic beast pouch to store it. Chapter 38 After purchasing the equipment for the elemental mages, Hughes did not continue to rest. Instead, he turned on the computer in front of him. Buzz. With a soft sound, a virtual keyboard was projected onto the table. Hughes, on the other hand, tapped on the virtual keyboard with both hands. He logged into the mage forum with ease and began to search for relevant information outside San Pedro City. Half an hour later, Hughes, who had found the information he wanted, leaned back in his chair. ¡°There are three forests outside of San Pedro City. Among them, there are two forests outside San Pedro City that have natural lightning strikes. They are located near La Calera in the south of San Pedro City and near Saint-Nazaire in the north.¡± Hughes thought to himself. Lightning usually could only be emitted from nature. But after the magic attack, the entire blue planet¡¯s terrain had undergone a tremendous change. The change in the terrain also caused many areas to be mined all year round. Coincidentally, there were two such mined areas near San Pedro City. ¡°La Calera is more than 200 kilometers away from Anyang city, while Saint-Nazaire is 300 kilometers away. In that case, I¡¯ll go to La Calera outside San Pedro City.¡± Hughes made a decision. The situation in the wilderness outside the two San Pedro cities was similar, and La Calera was closer to the Lach Academy. If anything happened to the academy, he would be able to return to the academy in time. ¡°Big brother Hughes, there¡¯s something for you.¡± Suddenly, Otis¡¯ voice came from downstairs. ¡°The equipment arrived quite quickly.¡± Hughes smiled slightly, then turned off the computer and walked downstairs. Just like last time, the person who delivered the goods to his door this time was a tall man in a suit. However, the box in his hand this time was a little bigger than last time. ¡°Battle suit, medicine, backpack, demon beast bag.¡± Returning to his bedroom, Hughes opened the box and counted the items. ¡°Not bad, these items are all fine.¡± After verifying the items, Hughes placed the potions and demon beast pouch into his backpack. Then, he went to the training room and placed the purple thunder fire lion demon beast egg inside. ¡°This time, I hope I can hatch you.¡± Caressing the slightly warm giant purple egg in his backpack, Hughes muttered to himself. Contracted demon beasts were a great help to mages. If he had contracted demonic beasts, his hunting efficiency would at least double. At that time, the speed of obtaining mana points would also increase correspondingly. The speed of leveling up would also be faster! After checking once again that the items in his backpack were fine, Hughes entered the bathroom to wash up and then fell asleep peacefully. The next morning, Hughes got up early and put on his equipment. He left the school with the purple thunder fire lion egg on his back and boarded the train to La Calera. ¡ La Calera was one of the most prosperous base cities in San Pedro. More than 40 kilometers away from La Calera, there was a wilderness outside the city where demon beasts roamed. In there, one could obtain demon beast meat, magic cores, and all kinds of herbs and fruits with magical powers! Hence, a large number of mages gathered here to hunt demon beasts and obtain materials. The gathering of a large number of mages and the trade of various materials naturally brought about the development of the economy of La Calera. This was also the reason why La Calera was still so prosperous despite the threat of the invasion of demon beasts. Forty kilometers away from the city of La Calera, there was a mage base. This was the last supply station for mages heading to the wilderness outside San Pedro city. A loud rumbling noise sounded as the train stopped in front of the mage base. Mages holding magic staff walked out of the train one after another. There were more than twenty people. These twenty people were naturally divided into three teams. Only a few mages were alone. Among them was a tall man wearing a dark green mage combat uniform, surrounded by magic books, and carrying a large backpack on his back. This man was none other than Hughes, who had left the Lach Academy and came to La Calera! ¡°This is the mage base.¡± Husk raised his head to look at the building in front of him. The height of this building was at least 200 meters tall. On the front of the building, the words ¡®La Calera Mage Base¡¯ were inlaid in a flamboyant manner. And at the top of the building, one could vaguely see a magic array that was emitting strong mana fluctuations. It seemed to be scouting the movements of the demon beasts outside San Pedro City. ¡°Since I¡¯m here, I¡¯ll go to the mage base to take a look first.¡± Originally, Hughes¡¯ idea was to directly enter the outskirts of San Pedro City. But regarding the mage base, he was indeed a little curious. As soon as he stepped into the mage base, a faint fragrance entered his nostrils, refreshing him. Then, looking around, he could see the entire hall at a glance. As long as there was a wilderness outside the city, there would be a mage base. This was also the result of the collaboration of various super clans and financial groups from all over the world. As the last supply base before the mages entered San Pedro City, the entire building was built to be extremely luxurious. The ground was made of a special alloy. It was extremely hard and could bear the weight of a huge contracted demon beast. In the hall, many staff shuttled back and forth. The men were handsome and the women were beautiful and moving. Other than that, there were also many sofas in the hall. At this moment, there were many mages sitting on them. Some mages even directly released their contracted demon beasts. The huge demon beasts looked extremely tall even if they were just lying there. Most of these contracted demon beasts were around the level of ordinary demon beasts, but there were also lord-tier demon beasts that made him feel a wave of fear. ¡°This brother is here for the first time in the mage base, right?¡± Just as Hughes was observing the surroundings of the mage base, a low voice was heard. He turned around and saw a tall and thin man wearing a gray combat uniform. At this moment, he was looking at Hughes with a smile. ¡°Yes, what¡¯s the matter?¡± Hughes nodded. It was reasonable for a newcomer to be discovered as it was his first time here. ¡°It¡¯s nothing. I have a map that records the lord-tier demon beasts outside San Pedro city. I don¡¯t know if you want it. ¡°Oh right, my name is Franklin.¡± The tall man said with a smile, showing great enthusiasm. ¡°A map of the wilderness outside San Pedro City that records the lord-tier demon beasts?¡± Hughes raised his eyebrows. Although he had the ability to remember the appearance and level of some demon beasts if he had a map of the wilderness outside of San Pedro City¡ Then he could also go around the areas where the lord-tier demon beasts were entrenched, greatly reducing the danger. ¡°Can you show it to me first?¡± Hughes asked. ¡°Of course.¡± Franklin tapped on the smartwatch in his right hand, and a map was projected in the air. ¡°Although this is only one-fifth of the original map, it should be enough for you to see if it¡¯s real or fake.¡± Chapter 39 ¡°Mm.¡± Hughes nodded slightly and then began to carefully examine this map. The wilderness area outside La Calera had a total area of more than two hundred kilometers. And this map recorded an area of more than twenty kilometers. Mountains, plains, how different from what he had found on the internet before. However, there was a lot of information about demon beasts on it. Moreover, this wilderness map could be enlarged, allowing him to see more detailed information about the species of demon beasts and their races. After confirming the authenticity of the map, Hughes turned his head and asked, ¡°Hmm, not bad. How much does this wilderness map of yours cost?¡± With such a map, the land that he was looking for would be relatively easier to find. ¡°It¡¯s not expensive, it¡¯s not expensive. It only costs 300,000 dollars.¡± Franklin said to Hughes with a smile. ¡°300,000 dollars? That expensive?¡± Hughes frowned slightly. Although with this wilderness map, the chances of survival in the wilderness would be greatly increased. But the price should not be so expensive. According to his assumption, it should be around 100,000 dollars. 300,000 was more or less a scam. Moreover, for a person like Franklin to directly sell it, it was a little too suspicious. Thinking of this, Hughes directly said to Franklin, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, your map is too expensive.¡± Things like wilderness maps were definitely not only available to Franklin. Perhaps other mages could sell them at a cheaper price. To be honest, he did not want to be a sucker. ¡°Brother, if you think it¡¯s too expensive, we can negotiate the price.¡± Seeing that Hughes was about to leave, Franklin was a little anxious. At this moment, a team of four walked over from not far away. The leader of the team let out a delicate shout. ¡°Franklin, you¡¯re scamming these new mages again!¡± The captain was a tall girl with a cute face. She held a green staff in her hand and wore a fiery-red mage battle robe. Her mage battle robe had a slightly tight effect. Under the outline of the battle robe, her fiery figure was perfectly displayed. ¡°Ingrid, what are you doing here?¡± Seeing this woman, a hint of fear flashed across Franklin¡¯s face. Then, he said to Ingrid coldly, ¡°What do you mean I¡¯m tricking new people again? I just sold a wilderness map. Besides, he hasn¡¯t bought it yet.¡± After saying that, Franklin turned around and left. ¡°You didn¡¯t buy it?¡± Ingrid¡¯s eyes lit up. She turned to look at Hughes and said tactfully, ¡°Hello, I¡¯m the captain of the snow leopard team. My name is Ingrid.¡± ¡°Hughes,¡± Hughes responded with a faint smile on his face. Looking at Franklin¡¯s guilty expression, there were indeed some clues about the wilderness map that this guy sold. ¡°Hughes, you¡¯re really smart. You actually didn¡¯t buy Franklin¡¯s wilderness map.¡± Ingrid couldn¡¯t help but praise Hughes, and then added, ¡°You know, as long as the level in this mage base is registered as the lowest-level adventure mage, then this wilderness map will be given to you directly for free.¡± ¡°Directly given?¡± Hughes¡¯ eyes widened. ¡°I¡¯m glad I didn¡¯t fall for it and bought his wilderness map. Otherwise, I would have been cheated out of 300,000 dollars!¡± ¡°He is too evil!¡± Hughes couldn¡¯t help but click his tongue. 300,000 dollars. Even a mage would need more than ten days to earn that much money in the wilderness. If it was a weaker mage, it might even take one to two months. ¡°If they don¡¯t cheat, how are they going to earn money?¡± Ingrid smiled sweetly, then glanced up and down at Hughes. Finally, she focused her gaze on Lorelei¡¯s secret tome that surrounded him. She asked in surprise, ¡°Is this a magic tool?¡± Although most of the magic tools used by mages were magic staffs, there were also some people who did not like to use magic staffs. In that case, they would go and custom-make a magic tool. However, using a magic book as a magic tool like Hughes¡¯¡ this was the first time Ingrid had seen it. Moreover, looking at the holy and gentle aura that the magic book emitted, she felt that the person in front of her should be a light mage. Although the shape of the magic tool was different, the mana fluctuations emitted by it could not fool anyone. ¡°You are also a light mage?¡± Ingrid asked immediately. ¡°Yes.¡± Hughes smiled and nodded at Ingrid. ¡°It¡¯s really a light elemental mage!¡± A strange light flashed in Ingrid¡¯s beautiful eyes, and then she said in an excited tone, ¡°Hughes, are you interested in joining our team? Our snow leopard team just happens to be lacking a support mage who can heal.¡± Like most other mage teams, the members of the snow leopard team were all fire mages, water mages, wind mages, and earth mages. Among them, Ingrid was an offensive mage in the team. However, the water mages in their team were not very useful. Therefore, she was preparing to recruit another support mage into her snow leopard team. She did not expect to meet the light mage, Hughes. Light mages were the best healing and support mages in the world! If Hughes could really join her snow leopard team, her snow leopard team¡¯s strength would definitely rise to another level! Thinking of this, Ingrid looked at Hughes with anticipation. ¡°Join your team?¡± Hearing this, Hughes frowned slightly. Just as he was about to refuse, a boy in Ingrid¡¯s team suddenly shouted, ¡°Ingrid, you can¡¯t let him join our team!¡± Chapter 40 ¡°Although he is a light magician, this is his first time entering the wilderness of La Calera!¡± ¡°If he joins our snow leopard team, we will definitely have to familiarize him with the terrain in this one month¡¯s time.¡± ¡°Moreover, he is so young. He might even be an ordinary magician. He might even be an intermediate magician. If he joins our snow leopard team rashly, he will definitely drag down our snow leopard team!¡± ¡°Vallentin, shut up!¡± Hearing Vallentin¡¯s voice, Ingrid berated him, then, she turned to look at Hughes and said, ¡°We don¡¯t mind grooming new people who have entered the wilderness for the first time. As long as you can stay in our snow leopard team in the end. ¡°Oh right, looking at how young you are, you should have just graduated from the academy, right?¡± Ingrid asked curiously. Such a young mage was very rare in this mage base. ¡°No, I haven¡¯t graduated yet.¡± Hughes smiled slightly. To be more precise, his academic life had not even begun. ¡°You haven¡¯t graduated yet, and you already came to the wilderness of La Calera!?¡± In the snow leopard team, a girl wearing glasses said in surprise. In the wilderness of La Calera, that was a place where one really needed to fight to the death with demonic beasts. Why would a student who had not graduated from the academy choose to come here and fight to the death? The same doubts arose in Ingrid¡¯s heart. However, she knew that Hughes might have his own reasons. Therefore, she did not ask for more reasons. Instead, she smiled and said to Hughes, ¡°You dare to come to the wilderness of La Calera before graduating from the academy. Hughes, you are very powerful!¡± After saying that, she asked curiously, ¡°Oh right, which academy are you a student from? Maybe I am your senior.¡± ¡°Lach Academy.¡± Hughes smiled and said calmly. ¡°Lach¡ Lach Academy?¡± Ingrid¡¯s eyes widened in disbelief. ¡°Isn¡¯t Lach Academy one of the top four magic academies in the country!?¡± Then, she remembered that Hughes¡¯ element was the light magic element. She calmed herself down. ¡°That¡¯s true. It¡¯s very normal for a person with the light magic talent to be admitted to Lach Academy.¡± ¡°Since you haven¡¯t graduated yet, you won¡¯t stay in the wilderness for long, right?¡± ¡°Yes, I¡¯ll stay for two months at most,¡± Hughes replied. Two months later, the Lach Academy of Magic would begin. He also needed to return to school to systematically study the knowledge of mages. ¡°Two months?¡± Ingrid¡¯s eyes lit up when she was about to give up on letting Hughes join her team. One month was enough time for Hughes to get used to her team. Even if they only had one month left to hunt demon beasts, the number of demon beasts they would hunt within this month would definitely increase greatly! ¡°How is it? Do you want to consider joining our team?¡± Ingrid¡¯s beautiful eyes looked at Hughes. ¡°A month is enough time for us to train you. In the remaining month, you can cooperate with our team to hunt demonic beasts.¡± The students of Lach Academy of Magic, even if they were just ordinary intermediate magicians, their combat abilities should be extremely impressive! Therefore, she did not want to give up on Hughes so easily. ¡°No.¡± Hughes shook his head. ¡°I have other matters to attend to in the wilderness. Thank you for your kindness, Ingrid.¡± The main purpose of his trip was to hatch the purple thunder fire lion. If he joined the team of magicians, it would definitely be a hindrance to the hatching of the purple thunder fire lion. ¡°Sigh, alright then. But if you change your mind during this period of time, you can contact me at any time. Here is my phone number.¡± A hint of disappointment flashed across Ingrid¡¯s beautiful eyes. After asking Hughes to remember her phone number, she left the hall of the mage base with the snow leopard team. ¡°Such a warm-hearted girl.¡± Looking at the graceful figure leaving, Hughes could not help but sigh. If it was not for the purple thunder fire lion egg, he might have really joined the snow leopard team and experienced the pleasure of being a mage in a team. ¡°Forget it, let¡¯s go register as adventure mages first and see what¡¯s going on with that map.¡± Shaking his head, Hughes walked to the front desk in the hall of the mage base. ¡°Hello, may I know how to register as an adventuring mage?¡± Hughes said to the staff behind the desk. It was a delicate girl in uniform. She looked young, probably in her twenties. ¡°Have you registered as an adventurer mage in other mage bases before?¡± The staff member¡¯s voice was very pleasant. ¡°No, this is my first time in a mage base.¡± Hughes shook his head. ¡°Okay, sir, please follow me.¡± The staff member smiled and brought Hughes through the hall to a place where a lot of equipment was placed. The instruments were about 2.5 meters tall and were completely black in color. They looked very sturdy. At this moment, many mages were waving their staffs and casting spells, bombarding the instruments. ¡°Mr. Hughes, cast a spell on the instrument at random and let me collect your iris information to complete the registration.¡± The staff member said with a smile. ¡°Sorry for the trouble.¡± Hughes nodded slightly and instantly constructed a hexagram magic circle in his mind. ¡°Chained light arrows!¡± Whoosh! A golden spear suddenly appeared and rushed forward! ¡°Light Magic!¡± ¡°Holy shit, there are light mages in our La Calera mage base Too?¡± ¡°Look, it¡¯s that handsome young man who released the Golden Spear.¡± ¡°Wow, he¡¯s really handsome, and he looks so young! He shouldn¡¯t be more than twenty-four years old, right?¡± ¡ It must be known that in the entire country, the number of light-type mages was extremely low. And their La Calera mage base was only one of the many mage bases in the country. Usually, it was very rare to meet a mage who could release light-type spells. The appearance of Hughes naturally caused waves of discussion among them. ¡°Mr. Hughes is a light mage?¡± The delicate staff member was also slightly surprised. One had to know that although she had not worked in the mage base for a long time, she had already worked for a year. This was the first time she had met a light mage! Thinking of this, she could not help but look at Hughes a few more times. Then, she took out a miniature precision instrument. ¡°Mr. Hughes, I need to collect some information about your iris.¡± ¡°Okay.¡± Hughes leaned over and aimed his eyes at the instrument. Buzz. The miniature precision instrument projected a light blue light and shone on Hughes¡¯s eyes. ¡°Beep! Collection complete.¡±
