Chapter 1247: Chapter 1247: Xiang Yu Gains His Freedom
After finishing eating, Xiang Yu finally stood up. The first thing he saw were two old fellows. He only felt they looked familiar but did not recognize them.
“Who are you?” Xiang Yu asked in confusion.
Gao Mantang felt his mind was momentarily nk and couldn’t react. He then looked at Xiang Yu and said, “Xiang Yu, don’t be rude.”
Only then did Xiang Yu turn around and see Gao Mantang standing behind him. He quickly got up and said, “Why are you hiding here?”
“I’m not hiding here. I’ve been standing here since you came in,” Gao Mantang said with annoyance.
“All the same, what is this ce?” Xiang Yu asked.
Gao Mantang was worried Xiang Yu might say something inappropriate, so he quickly introduced the old man Liu and his own senior officer.
After hearing this, Xiang Yu was shocked and stood up straight with a serious face, then saluted them with a standard military salute.
Gao Mantang wiped off his cold sweat, relieved that Xiang Yu wasn’t thoughtless.
Not just anyone could meet the two people in front of him. Xiang Yu should know the proper conduct.
But Xiang Yu’s next actions gave him a headache.
Xiang Yu pulled Gao Mantang and sat directly there, then brazenly picked up the chopsticks and continued eating, even pouring himself a ss of wine, pletely ignoring the two great leaders.
Gao Mantang initially wanted to stop him, but Old Liu and the other man smiled and waved, indicating that Gao Mantang should not disturb Xiang Yu’s meal.
At this point, the old man looked at Xiang Yu and said, “Tell me the whole story from the beginning to the end.”
Xiang Yu was stunned for a moment, but then his expression became natural as he continued to eat. Finally, he put down his chopsticks and wiped his mouth.
“Where is Commander Cao now?” Xiang Yu asked directly.
“Don’t worry. He has already been detained and won’t harm you,” the old man replied with a smile.
“What about my father and my brother?” Xiang Yu was most concerned about his family now.
“They are all safe. The senior officer has already protected them,” Gao Mantang quickly replied.
Hearing this, Xiang Yu was finally relieved and nodded, then recounted everything he had experienced.
From the time he joined the military to the subsequent training, joining the Special Forces, taking direct orders from Commander Cao, and then hisrades dying in action to save him.
Finally, he talked about how Commander Cao sent him to the city toplete a mission, and then everything that happened in City No. 6.
When the old man heard about what happened in City No. 6, his face turned pale.
They watched the news every day and knew that there had been a forest fire in City No. 6 recently, but they had no idea that the truth was like this.
“You said they were conducting an experiment, and it was on live people, those who were physically strong?” the old man looked at Xiang Yu with horror.
Xiang Yu quickly nodded and described the brutality of the situation in detail, causing Old Liu to almost vomit on the side.
Although he was a senior officer, he had never seen such bloody scenes.
The old man was so angry he trembled all over. He had been retired for years and never thought such inhumane acts were happening in the world.
Old Liu suddenly mmed the table and shouted, “I never thought there were such scumbags under mymand. I will definitely bring him to justice.”
Seeing that the two were genuine in their reaction, Xiang Yu quickly said, “If that’s the case, let’s act quickly. Otherwise, I’m worried Commander Cao will escape.”
The two were stunned, thinking Xiang Yu was joking. Since Commander Cao had already been captured, there’s no way he could escape.
“You don’t have to worry, since he’s already…” Old Liu hadn’t finished his sentence when his phone rang.
“What’s the matter?” Old Liu said impatiently. He was in a bad mood, and someone calling him now only added to his irritation.
“Sir, bad news. Commander Cao has been rescued by someone,” an urgent voice came from the other side.
“What? What did you say? How are you doing as a soldier? Quickly send people to search for him. If you can’t find him, I’ll revoke your position,” Old Liu shouted in a panic upon hearing that Commander Cao had been rescued.
The old man sitting on the side was also somewhat worried. Commander Cao was considered a senior officer and held a lot of military secrets. If he escaped, it would be very detrimental to their side.
Old Liu was so furious he almost flipped the table. He had just wanted to reassure Xiang Yu to let him rest at ease, and now such a thing had happened.
Hearing the phone call, Xiang Yu showed no surprise. He understood this matter the best and knew that Commander Cao was not alone here.
When he escaped from City No. 6, the pursuers were Commander Cao’s men, not actual soldiers.
After hanging up the phone, Old Liu called back again.
“Remember, everyone involved in this matter must keep it confidential. This is a state secret. If anyone leaks it, they will be treated as a traitor,” Old Liu said before directly hanging up.
The old man looked at Old Liu’s anxious appearance and said, “If this is true, he might go abroad. Quickly instruct the border guards to pay attention. We cannot let this person escape, no matter what.”
Old Liu nodded and then entered his study with his phone.
Many things were tied to national secrets that he couldn’t say openly in front of the three people.
At that moment, Gao Mantang was at a loss but finally breathed a sigh of relief, realizing everything Xiang Yu told him was true.
Meanwhile, Xiang Yu sat there leisurely, pouring himself a ss of wine from time to time.
Old Liu was in the study for half an hour beforeing out with a dark face.
“Sorry for the poor hospitality today,” Old Liu said with some guilt on his face.
The old man quickly waved his hand and said, “We’re all old friends. There’s no need for formalities. You absolutely must catch Commander Cao. He must not be handed over.”
Old Liu understood the seriousness of the issue and nodded, “Rest assured, I know what to do.”
“Then we’ll be going.” The old man knew his task wasplete and it was time to leave.
Gao Mantang quickly stood up, pulling Xiang Yu to follow the old man out.
Old Liu followed them to the door, looking at Xiang Yu, he said, “Stay in this city for now. I have more instructions for you.”
“Always at your service,” Xiang Yu said with a rxed smile.
After the conversation, they got in the car and drove away from the vi.
Gao Mantang drove, with the old man and Xiang Yu sitting in the back.
The old man looked at Xiang Yu with a smile, “You’re very good, a qualified soldier.”
Xiang Yu knew the identity of the old man beside him and just chuckled, “Of course.”
Sitting in front, Gao Mantang was sweating profusely. Xiang Yu was being too casual.
“Don’t move.” Suddenly, Xiang Yu said to the old man, then removed a white hair from his body.
“Xiang Yu, don’t be rude,” Gao Mantang said coldly from the front.
The old man in the back was his former superior whom he respected greatly, and he naturally didn’t want Xiang Yu to be discourteous.
The old man, however, didn’t mind and smiled, looking at Xiang Yu with increasing fondness…
