Chapter 1250: 1250: Gao Mantangs Final Resting Place

Chapter 1250: Chapter 1250: Gao Mantang’s Final Resting ce

“Dad, it’s been a long time since I had your cooking.” Gao Zhitao shouted over there.

“You heartless brat, look at your dad now with just one hand, can you bear to let me cook?” Gao Lianfeng pretended to be angry.

Gao Zhitao walked over to his dad and smiled mysteriously, “I’m helping you find a partner, when she’s truly brought home, you better treat her well for me.”

“Get lost, seriously.” Gao Lianfeng yelled.

Seeing father and son being alike, the othersughed softly without speaking.

“Your grandpa liked my sweet and sour carp. I made this dish specifically for the old man today.” Gao Lianfeng said with a smile.

He noticed his brothers sitting far away and furtively nced at Gao Zhitao, his helper, “You just mentioned your stepmother, is she pretty?”

Gao Zhitao looked indifferent, “Didn’t you just tell me to get lost? Don’t talk to me.”

Just as Gao Lianfeng was about to say something nice to his son, Gao Zhitao’s phone suddenly rang.

“See? Seems like it’s my stepmother calling.” Gao Zhitao said, chuckling as he headed outside.

Gao Lianfeng took it somewhat seriously and followed, wanting to see what tricks the kid Gao Zhitao was up to.

Gao Zhitao picked up the phone, saw Xiang Yu’s name, and showed it to his dad, “He’s indeed been released.”

Gao Lianfeng was also happy, quickly wiping his hands, preparing to say a few words to Xiang Yu.

“Xiang Yu, congrattions on being released.” Gao Zhitao said excitedly.

Gao Zhitao initially wanted to joke with Xiang Yu, but sensed something was amiss.

“Xiang Yu?” Gao Zhitao asked tentatively.

“Zhitao, your grandpa’s had an ident and is in the hospital now,” Xiang Yu said, feeling very down.

Xiang Yu’s words hit everyone like thunder, leaving them stunned.

They initially nned to enjoy a reunion meal once Gao Mantang returned, yet unexpected events unfolded.

After Xiang Yu hung up, he sat beside the elderly man; they weren’t sure about the situation and Gao Mantang’s condition.

The elder clearly had deep feelings for Gao Mantang, his eyes were red.

Just then the elder’s phone rang; it was his son’s call.

The elder, feeling low, briefly exined the situation.

The person on the other end sounded tense and quickly hung up.

In less than half an hour, the hospital was surrounded by the military; the middle-aged man, concerned for the elder’s safety, arrived.

Seeing the elder unharmed relieved him, but noticing his red eyes pained him a bit, so he went over to hug his shoulder.

“Dad, don’t overthink it, life and death are fate.” The middle-aged manforted him.

The elder sighed and nodded, saying quietly, “Mantang and I went through bullets and shells back then. Didn’t expect something like this in times of peace.”

As he spoke, the surgery room door suddenly opened and a group of doctors emerged.

Seeing the scene outside surprised the doctors, they knew the patient inside was no ordinary person.

“How is it?” Xiang Yu stood up worriedly to ask first.

The bald doctor at the front sighed, shook his head without speaking, and walked away.

Everyone knew the doctor’s implication, the atmosphere was heavy.

Xiang Yu rushed inside, seeing Gao Mantang lying there peacefully without breath.

Looking at Gao Mantang’s face, Xiang Yu felt an inexplicable sadness. Heading to save him, Gao Mantang was unexpectedly intercepted.

The elder entered supported by the middle-aged man; his eyes were red but tearless.

He walked to Gao Mantang’s bedside and sighed, “Mantang, we’re old. You should rest, didn’t expect you to leave before me. I’m somewhat jealous, you’ll be waiting for me, I’ming soon.”

“Dad, don’t speak recklessly,” the middle-aged man supported the elder, saying.

The elder waved, indicating the middle-aged man to leave him be.

“You all leave, I want to say a few words to Mantang,” the elder said.

The middle-aged man worried his father might do something rash, stood firm, unwilling to leave.

The elder tiredly nced at him, “I’m fine, just go outside,” he said.

The middle-aged man nodded, looked at Xiang Yu, and walked out.

The middle-aged man had little impression of Gao Mantang, only concerned for his father.

Outside, he looked at Xiang Yu, “Who is this person?”

Xiang Yu quickly briefed him on Gao Mantang.

The middle-aged man nodded withoutmenting, stood silent for a while before turning to Xiang Yu, “After this ordeal, wait at my father’s ce, I have things to discuss with you.”

Xiang Yu nodded in agreement without asking about the matter.

They remained silent, waiting for the elder to emerge.

But the elder stayed inside for ages, showing no sign ofing out.

The middle-aged man started worrying and wanted to go in and call him out when suddenly shouts erupted outside.

A soldier rushed over to report, “Someone’s causing trouble outside, trying to break in.”

“Who?” The middle-aged man asked sternly.

“They’re wearing uniforms, likely soldiers,” said the soldier.

“Drive them away,” the middle-aged man ordered.

“Wait,” Xiang Yu quickly said, “Those people are Gao Mantang’s family; I called them.”

The middle-aged man looked puzzled at Xiang Yu, pondered and said, “Let them in.”

The soldier dashed out, and within minutes, a few people ran over from afar.

Leading them was Gao Zhitao, rushing like crazed, his face covered in tears.

For years, his father wasn’t by his side, his grandpa was his constantpanion; Gao Zhitao shared very deep bonds with him.

Though they often bickered, it never affected their rtionship.

He came before Xiang Yu, nkly staring at him.

Seeing him in such a state, Xiang Yu’s eyes also instantly watered, he pointed towards the room.

Gao Zhitao turned to dash into the room.

“Wait,” the middle-aged man suddenly called.

Gao Zhitao turned to nce at the middle-aged man, initially stunned, but ignored him and pushed the door open.

Behind him, Gao Lianfeng and his two brothers also rushed over…
