    Halsey curled her lips into a sly smile. “Alright, I’ll be right here watching. Go ahead and call him already!”


    It was clear she was ready for some entertainment.


    Jessica was confident. She couldn’t believe that Stanley would suddenly bail on her, especially when he was under the Heartchain Curse.


    She pulled out her phone and dialed Stanley’s number, her eyes locked on Halsey with a victorious glint. “Keep your eyes peeled. I’m gonna prove you wrong in a minute!”


    The phone rang, over and over, yet no one answered.


    Soon, a cold, mechanical female voice came through the line. “Sorry, the number you have dialed cannot be reached at the moment. Please try againter.”


    Stanley wasn’t picking up.


    Why wasn’t he answering?


    Panic flickered in Jessica’s eyes as she quickly redialed his number, again and again<b>, </b>but each call went unanswered.


    Slowly, her heart sank into an abyss of despair.


    Stanley wasn’t picking up!


    Last night, he had promised to meet her here for dinner, but now, there was no sign of him. ·


    What the hell was he doing?


    Just then, a softugh escaped from across the table.


    Halsey had been watching Jessica’s face closely; now that it had turned pale and cold, she knew exactly what was happening.


    “What’s wrong? Why hasn’t Stanley shown up yet? You said you were calling him. What did he say? Is he on his way?” Halsey teased, her tone merciless and unrelenting.


    Looking at the smile spreading across Halsey’s face<b>, </b>Jessica dug her nails into her palm<b>, </b>but she couldn’t feel the pain.


    “Why so quiet? You’re dressed so pretty today. I’m guessing it’s all for Stanley. Oh… Stanley’s noting, is he? Oh<b>, </b>no… He stood you up and isn’t even answering your calls! This time, he really went too far. Hahaha!”


    Halsey burst intoughter.


    She loved seeing Jessica squirm. Deep down<b>, </b>she trusted Stanley’s character. She couldn’t believe he’d be two–timing, though she still didn’t understand why he was tangled up with Jessica again.


    However, Jessica refused to give up. She kept calling Stanley–but no matter how many times she tried, the calls went unanswered.


    Disappointment settled heavily on her. She knew Stanley wasn’t going to answer, but she couldn’t make sense of what stunt he <b>was </b>pulling.


    At that moment, Halsey pulled out her phone. “Since he’s not answering your calls, I’ll try calling him. Let’s see if he picks up for me.”

    Halsey dialed the number, and <b>once </b>again, the ringtone sounded clearly, but no one answered. Stanley ignored Halsey’s <b>call</b>, too.
