Donald and Gina had been human traffickers for years, and they’d never ones fullest
With an innocent face and just enough #ting experience to make it dick, bins could pia tie amine even skeptics bought it
Donald wasn’t nearly as good at pretending, so he stuck to being her backup–prepping the knockout drugs and dealing with the buyers.
Rx. If anyone everes snooping around, we’ll just show them those fake test results No one’s ever gonna see through it. Donald said, pulling out his phone and starting up a card game.
Gina frowned, her patience wearing thin. “That little brat’s been a headache since day one. She was bawling her eyes out when we snatched her, and after we sold her, she went and burned down the whole town
“Lucky for us that the family died in the fire, or they’d be hunting us down for sure.”
Her eyes shed with malice as she continued, “Who would’ve thought that girl would end up making us money twice? Taking that job was totally worth it.”
Donald’s face darkened as he jumped in. “Worth it? You really think so? You forgot how many times we’ve had to skip town because of her?”
“That girl must’ve been unwanted at home, or else her own father wouldn’t have sold her off, Gina replied.
The motel’s walls were thin as paper, and footsteps echoed just outside their door.
Gina, worried someone might overhear, rushed over and mped a hand over Donald’s mouth, whispering urgently, “Keep your voice down! Are you trying to get us killed?”
They both fell silent.

The next morning, Andrew was up way too early. He barely got any sleep thanks to the Evans family’s firewall drama. Bleary–eyed, he shuffled into the kitchen and started making himself some coffee.
Jenny came downstairs after getting ready and spotted Ethan lurking by the kitchen door, sneaking nces inside every few seconds.
“Who’s in there?” Jenny asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ethan’s face lit up with relief when he saw her. “Thank God you’re here! You won’t believe this. Mr. Shea’s in the kitchen trying to make coffee.” He looked genuinely shocked. After all, Andrew never set foot in the kitchen. This was unprecedented.
“Does he even know how to work a coffee maker?” Jenny frowned, already imagining the wreckage. She called out, “Andrew, keep it down in there. Don’t go causing a kitchen disaster, okay?”

Unlike their family hotel back home, any damage here woulde straight out of their pockets.
“Ethan, get me some pancakes and milk, Jenny said offhandedly. Then she grabbed herptop, climbed onto a kid’s chair, and started typing away. Her fingers were short and a little chubby, but they were smooth and pretty—and none of that slowed her down on the keyboard.
Andrew, still in the kitchen, couldn’t help but feel exasperated. ‘Seriously, how dumb would I have to be to blow up the kitchen just making coffee?‘ he thought.
The coffee machine hissed itspletion just as Andrew’s fingers brushed the cup. Then Olivia’s warning echoed in his head–no more coffee.
With a resigned sigh, he set it down and poured himself some juice instead. Azy smirk yed on his lips as he drawled, “Gotta do what the doctor says.”
Andrew handed Jenny a ss of milk, raising an eyebrow at her. “So, have you made up your mind about what we talked aboutst night?”
“Same terms asst time,” Jenny said, squaring her shoulders with a confident grin as she met his eyes. “Face it. You need me for this.”
“Alright, you’ve got a deal,” Andrew said after watching her for a moment, his face giving nothing away.
“Really?” Jenny asked, her eyes lighting up.
