Chapter 60

“Do you really need me to teach you how to keep my whereabouts a secret?” Olivia said, lowering her gaze a little. Juliet’s lifees first?

Seeing how insistent Olivia was, Lucas had no choice but toply. After hanging up, he started contacting the hospital.

Olivia rested her chin in her hand, lost in thought, hershes so long that they nearly shadowed her eyes.

She had no clue where Juliet had been all these years, what she’d gone through, or why she was so seriously ill. She’d have to get the answers from Juliet himself.

Fortunately, not every hospital in Hirica was run by the Evans family, so she could go to Magnolia Town without worrying.

Just after they finished breakfast, Donald and Gina showed up lugging a bunch of bags. They lingered at the doorway, shifting ufortably–the very picture of humble, hardworking folks from the backwater.

“Come on in and have a seat,” Grace greeted them warmly. “You haven’t eaten yet, right? Perfect timing, you can grab a bite with us.”

Olivia raised an eyebrow, speaking teasingly, “Wasn’t our ride supposed to be this afternoon? What brings you here so early?”

Gina waved her hands frantically. “Oh, no, thank you. We’ve already eaten. We just couldn’t wait any longer. We’ve finally found our long–lost daughter, so we barely sleptst night. We had toe see her first thing this morning.”

As she finished her words, Donald shoved a big bag of snacks into Olivia’s hands–just some cheap chips and off–brand sodas.

He grinned sheepishly. “I had no idea what you liked, so I just picked up whatever looked good. I always see kids snacking on these, so I thought you might like them as well.”

“Yeah, your father rushed out at dawn to get these. Our town is way out in the sticks. It takes over ten hours to get there. These snacks are for you to eat during the journey,” Gina said nervously, afraid Olivia might not be pleased.

Grace felt uneasy seeing how nervous they were, and her heart ached even more when she saw the snacks they’d brought. ‘They’ve never seen much of the world. To them, those knockoff, cheap snacks are probably the finest treats around,‘ she thought bitterly.

Olivia epted the bag with a nod of gratitude before turning to go inside, leaving the couple outside chatting amiably with Grace in the yard.

Once inside, Olivia wrote a note for Sean.

After reading it, Sean gave a quick nod and slipped out like a shadow, so sneaky that hardly anyone even noticed him leave.

Olivia packed up a few more things, and just as she was about to head out, she suddenly remembered her patient–Andrew. She sent him a quick message: [Don’t forget to eat your herbal meal.]

As soon as Andrew saw the message, his usually calm eyes lit up, and he couldn’t help but smile before sending a reply. [Ms. Summers, you really care about me. Are you this attentive with all your patients?]

[Only with you.] Olivia typed back, and then sent over a blogger’s profile. [I want to rmend a blogger to you.]

Andrew clicked the link and found an utterly unremarkable ount–just over 30,000 followers, </bpletely ordinary at first nce.

Outside, Donald and Gina waited in the yard, awkwardly fidgeting with their hands.

Olivia traveled lightly with just a crimson backpack, wearing ck boots that entuated her long, slender legs. Her pendant was the only essory, yet this minimalist style somehow elevated her natural beauty.

Gina looked at Olivia and smiled kindly. “Olivia, you’re really pretty.”

Olivia ignored Gina and brushed past her, turning to Grace. “I’ll be back in a few days. Just remember to take your medicine on time, okay?”

Grace gave a reluctant nod, her fingers lingering around Olivia’s as she kept up a steady stream of small talk, trying to keep her around a bit longer.
