Gina wasn’t about to let it go. As soon as they got in the truck, she kept probing Olivia. “Who was that woman? She looked unfamiliar, definitely not one of us from Magnolia Town.” She was clearly fishing for answers.

Olivia didn’t hold back. “I met her once. That’s about it. Don’t really know her.”

Gina rxed slightly. If the woman was truly just a passerby, then there was nothing to worry about.

“I thought she was someone you knew. If she’s from Magnolia Town, we could invite her over sometime,” Gina said, handing Olivia the uncapped water bottle. “Here, have some water. We’ll get there in another two or three hours.”

“Okay,” Olivia replied, taking several sips. The chill wind snagged at her hair as she automatically reached up to smooth it back, her lips curving into a ghost of a smile that never reached her watchful eyes.

Gina looked at her with all the warmth in her eyes, gently running her fingers through Olivia’s hair. “Our precious girl is just so beautiful.”

It wasn’t long before Olivia’s eyelids grew heavy, her thoughts blurring as exhaustion overtook her. She sank limply into the cushions, her body surrendering to sleep.

The truck’s cab was stiflingly close, Olivia’s body slumped at an awkward angle against the seat. Her forehead was untroubled, breathing light and even.

She seemed to be deep enough in sleep that even the sliding nket didn’t stir her. To any observer, she appeared genuinely lost in dreams.

Gina’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. While Olivia was in the bathroom, Gina had slipped in twice the usual dose of the drug into Olivia’s water–enough to keep her knocked out until morning.

“I told you, you didn’t put enough in. She almost woke up halfway and nearly blew the whole thing,” Donald snapped at Gina, his face twisted in annoyance.

Gina reached over and gave Olivia a shove. When Olivia didn’t react, she finally rxed.

“Yeah, easy for you to say. Give her too much, and she’ll end up brain–dead. Then what? We won’t even be able to get rid of her,” Gina shot back, spitting at him in irritation.

She then pulled a beer from the bag, cracked it open, and took a couple of swigs.

The smell of beer filled the cab, making Donald crave it. “Come on, let me have a sip.”

“Are you trying to get us killed? Drinking while driving?” Gina snapped, clearly annoyed. “Just get moving. The longer we wait, the more likely something will go wrong.”

Donald shook his head, trying to reassure Gina. “Rx. We’ll be on our turf soon. By then, even wings wouldn’t get her out.”

Gina studied Olivia’s sleeping face with a twisted mix of admiration and pity. “She turned out even more beautiful than she was as a child. What a waste. She’s destined to be nothing but Devin’s broodmare.”

Donald gave a cold snort. “Don’t go getting stupid ideas now. Devin’s already got his eye on her, so don’t mess

    this up.

Cheryl had sent Devin Olivia’s photos ages ago, and he was so pleased with what he saw that he insisted she be brought over right away.

Gina had taken the money, so she was determined to get the job done right. She had to string Olivia along, keep up the act, and make sure Olivia didn’t suspect a thing.

So many college girls came here chasing money, only to regret it and end up desperate to get out.

But leaving was never that simple. No matter how much they resisted, Gina always had a way to make them stay and work for her, whether they liked it or not.

As they neared Magnolia Town, Gina pulled out her phone and dialed the doctor. They arranged to meet that evening. Once the payment was secured, the procedure would be scheduled at dawn.

Once it was all done, Olivia wouldn’t be leaving this ce–wings or not.

The old truck rattled into Magnolia Town, a surprisingly modern settlement tucked deep in the wilderness. Despite its remote location, it boasted all the amenities of a city.

“Wake up, sweetheart,” Gina said, shaking Olivia awake. “We’ve arrived.”
