Chapter 1789

    ?Chapter 1789:

Elyse said, “When the car ident happened, Tracy had already lost so much blood. It seems unlikely the baby survived.”

Lowell seemed on the verge of breaking down. He crouched down, burying his face in his hands, and asked, “And Shaun?”

“He was injured worse than Tracy. He shielded her. As for Dolores…” Elyse trailed off, unable to continue.

Lowell responded, “Okay. I get what happened. I need to go now.”

Elyse held him back, adding, “There’s been a lot ofplexity between you and Tracy. You two were forced together because of the baby. Now that the baby is gone, you should really reconsider your rtionship with her.”

Lowell asked, “You think I don’t love her?”

Elyse shook her head and said, “I don’t know.”

Lowell admitted, “At first, I was uncertain. But I’vee to realize that I do have feelings for her.”

“Before things get more serious, you should break it off. You two just aren’t right for each other.”

Lowell managed a weak smile. It seemed like he wanted to speak but ultimately remained silent. He walked away immediately.

Elyse watched him go with mixed feelings.

An hourter, the surgery was over. Tracy was wheeled out. She appeared ghostly pale, and her eyes were firmly closed. She looked very fragile.<fn97d8> ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? F?ndNovel</fn97d8>

Elyse fought back tears as she stayed by her friend’s side on the way to her room. She texted Jayden to update him on the situation, and at the same time, she received an update from him about Shaun. Shaun was no longer in critical condition, and his surgery was almost done.

She let out a relieved sigh, whispering to herself, “It’s wonderful. They both made it.”

She remained seated in the ward, waiting for Tracy to regain consciousness.

Tracy was still unconscious when Jayden showed up. “Shaun’s surgery is over. He’ll be moved here as well. I have to head to the police station. Can you stay with them?”

Elyse nodded and asked, “When are Shaun’s parents getting here?”

Jayden answered, “They’ll be here shortly. I’ve informed them that Shaun is out of surgery and doing well. They’re going to the police station first to deal with the Ruiz family.”

After Jayden left, another gurney was wheeled into the room. Peyton, who led Shaun’s surgery, was thest to arrive in the ward. His expertise had been critical to Shaun’s survival.

Visibly anxious, Elyse asked, “How is Shaun? Are his injuries severe?”

“He was hurt, but it wasn’t life-threatening,” Peyton exined. “The main damage is to his leg. Without proper rehabilitation, he risks permanent disability.”

Shocked, Elyse asked, “And if he undergoes rehabilitation?”

Peyton responded, “Recovery will still be challenging, even with rehab. He mustmit to it long-term. It’s as much a test of his mental strength as it is physical.”

Elyse, feeling overwhelmed, asked, “Oh my God. How did this happen to Shaun? Will he recover? Will he need a wheelchair?”
