?Chapter 1796:
Elyse arched a brow. “What for?”
“I want surgery. I want to walk again,” Shaun replied, his voice firm with conviction.
Elyse raised an eyebrow. “Wow. Tracy must have some seriously persuasive ps. We’ve been trying to talk you into this for days, and you ignored uspletely. But a couple of hits from her, and suddenly you’re all in?”
“You just don’t get it,” Shaun muttered. “It wasn’t merely… ps. With Tracy, it was something entirely different.”
Elyse studied him for a beat, then decided not to waste any more time arguing. “Fine. I’ll go get them.”
She informed Jayden about Shaun’s sudden change of heart, and Jayden soon arrived with the medical team, his expression tinged with surprise.
“What finally convinced him?” Jayden asked under his breath.
“Tracy pped him. His face is still swollen—he’s icing it as we speak,” Elyse whispered.
Jayden blinked, then smirked in understanding. “We should have had Tracy do that sooner.”<fne061> This text is hosted at fινdnοvel</fne061>
Shaking his head in amusement, he led the medical team into Shaun’s room to go over the procedure.
When the doctor exined that the surgery had a fifty percent sess rate, Shaun barely hesitated. To him, those were solid odds. He gave a firm nod. “Alright. I’ll do it.”
For the next few days, Shaun threw himself into his treatment, channeling every ounce of his energy into preparing for the surgery. More than two weeks passed when, on the eve of Shaun’s surgery, Lowell unexpectedly showed up at the hospital.
Always on guard, Elyse spotted him and immediately grew suspicious. Shaun’s procedure was scheduled for tomorrow, and Lowell’s sudden appearance felt ominous.
She stepped directly into his path, arms crossed. “Turn around and walk out. You’re not wee here.”
Lowell met her gaze calmly and said, “You’ve got it wrong. I heard Shaun’s having surgery tomorrow and wanted to talk to him.”

Elyse was about to shut him down when Shaun intervened. “It’s okay. Let him in.”
“Fine.” She shot Lowell a warning look as she stepped aside. “I’ll be right outside.”
Once the door clicked shut behind her, Lowell set down a small bouquet on the bedside table.
Shaun looked at him and asked, “What do you want?”
“Nothing in particr,” Lowell replied. “Just wanted to talk. It’s been a long time.”
“There is nothing left to say.” Shaun’s tone was firm. After a beat, he added, “Though I’ll admit, I was surprised you didn’t get Dolores awyer. Aren’t you always first in line to defend her?”
“I have defended her enough.” Lowell let out a slow breath, his voice carrying a rare edge of exhaustion. “This time, she needs to deal with the consequences herself.”
Shaun couldn’t help but find this interesting. “And you’re not worried she will hate you for it when she gets out?”
