?Chapter 1801:
At those words, Elyse propped her chin on her hands, her eyes locking onto Clive’s face with a piercing intensity.
Clive, caught in the spotlight of her gaze, felt a sudden wave of unease wash over him, his usualposure slipping like sand through his fingers. He faltered, his words tumbling out in a nervous stutter. “W-why are you staring at me like that? Don’t tell me you actually think I’m not man enough?”
Elyse let out a bright, melodicugh, her voice dancing with amusement. “Not in the slightest! I think you’re quite the charmer. Peyton’s just spouting gibberish—don’t take his nonsense to heart. You’re truly easy on the eyes.”
Clive’s hand shot up to cover his mouth, his eyes fixed on Elyse as if she had cast a spell over him. A faint flush crept up his ears, their tips glowing a soft crimson, and he could feel the warmth spreading across his cheeks like wildfire.
Thankfully, Peyton’s attention was elsewhere, sparing Clive the embarrassment of being caught in such a fluster. He leaned in close to Elyse, dropping his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “My buddy is just putting on an act, you know. If ady calls him good-looking, his head will swell bigger than a hot air balloon. Don’t feed his ego and continue tossingpliments my way instead.”
Elyse chuckled, herughter bubbling up like a spring. “Didn’t I already say you were a looker too?”
Peyton blinked, momentarily thrown off bnce by her unexpected praise, his usual bravado reced by a sheepish awkwardness. “You’ve never said that before.”
Elyse tilted her head, a yful glint in her eyes. “When I firstid eyes on you, you were so dashing I could hardly bring myself to look at you without blushing.”
Peyton struggled to keep a straight face, trying to suppress his delight. Clive shot him a knowing look and said, “If you want tough, just do it. Doesn’t it wear you out, holding it in like that?”
Peyton narrowed his eyes at him and huffed. “Cool guys don’t justugh at anything. Take Jayden, for example—have you ever seen him crack a smile?”
Elyse blinked and said, “But he does. He smiles at me all the time.”
Peyton froze, caughtpletely off guard. “Wait… does he have another side or something?”<fna2a9> Get full chapters from FιndNovel</fna2a9>
Clive sighed and said, “You are not Jayden’s wife. Why would he smile at you?”
Peyton scoffed. “As soon as Jayden gets here, I’m asking him myself.”
Elyse giggled behind her hand, but herughter faltered when she caught Clive staring at her. She paused and asked, “What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Clive shook his head with a small smile. “Nothing… It’s just that I haven’t seen you in a while, and you look even more beautiful than before.”
Elyse tilted her chin up yfully. “I have always been beautiful.”
Peyton grinned and chimed in, “Exactly! You need to work on yourpliments, Clive. Elyse has always been drop-dead gorgeous.”
Clive studied Elyse for a long moment before finally asking, “Jayden mentioned that your house keeps getting flowers. Do you have any idea who is sending them?”
Elyse shook her head and replied, “Not yet. We looked into it, but we couldn’t find anything.”
Feeling like an outsider in the conversation, Peyton quickly cut in. “Wait, why haven’t I heard Jayden mention this? Since when is getting flowers a bad thing? Shouldn’t you be happy about it?”
