?Chapter 1818:
Elyse was taken aback by the realization. She tried to think of possible suspects. However, she wasn’t fully familiar with everyone in Jayden’s circle.
Frustrated, she abandoned the thought and absentmindedly picked up a perfume bottle from her vanity, rolling it between her fingers. She then picked up the…
Elyse spritzed a little of the perfume Clive had given her on her wrist and breathed in the intoxicating fragrance.
Then, she pulled out the small card from the box, the one listing the fragrance’s top, middle, and base notes.
Her eyesnded on the main ingredient—Evernight Rose.
Curious, she grabbed her phone and looked it up. The image that popped up on her screen looked familiar.
Just then, her phone rang, snapping her out of her thoughts. It was Peyton.
“I’m throwing myself a birthday party,” he announced, his usual cheer intact. “Make sure you and Jaydene.”
“Why didn’t you invite him directly?” Elyse casually asked.<fn072e> Th?s chapter is updated by find?novel</fn072e>
Peyton let out an exasperated sigh. “Because he is being a total jerk! I called him earlier, and he practically chewed my head off, saying I was interrupting his work. He’s in a terrible mood today.”
Elyse smirked. “Yeah, he is wound pretty tight. Don’t worry. We will be there.”
There was a pause before Peyton hesitantly added, “Uh… Aileen will be there too. Do me a favor and put in a good word for me, okay?”
Her smirk widened. “Oh? I thought she wasn’t your type. Didn’t you say you were into mature, sophisticated women? What’s with the sudden change of heart?”
Peyton groaned. “You don’t get it. Her dad said she is a bit naive. She needs a good guy looking out for her. I can’t just leave her hanging.”
Elyse was at a loss for words. “Her dad wants a good man for her? What does that have to do with you? If you are having second thoughts, just leave her alone. I can introduce her to some of my cousin’s friends. They’re all decent guys.”
“NO! I’m not backing out!” Peyton protested immediately, shutting the idea down.
Catching the way he reacted, Elyse grinned knowingly. “Just admit it — you like her. Why are you making excuses? Aileen is single, sweet, and pretty. If you don’t appreciate her, trust me, plenty of other guys will.”

Peyton huffed. “I already told her dad we are getting married. I can’t go back on my word. Anyway, I have to go. Bye!”
Elyse stared at her phone for a beat, then let out augh. “You are so whipped, Peyton. Mr. ‘Mature Women’ is officially smitten with a total sweetheart.”
She made a mental note to buy him a birthday gift and headed downstairs.
Jayden was nowhere in sight when Elyse reached the living room. He was probably still out hunting for the elusive flower sender. As she approached the front door, movement caught her eye. The staff was arranging severalrge bouquets. They looked familiar.
Elyse moved closer, scrutinizing the flowers. “Were all of these delivered today?” she asked.
“Yes, ma’am,” a maid replied. “The gardener is preparing topost them.”
