?Chapter 1832:
Jayden hesitated, then led her into the bedroom and opened the wardrobe.
She watched as he retrieved a marriage certificate. Her surprise was evident. “Whose is this?”
“Ours,” Jayden replied.
Bewildered, Elyse responded, “But we divorced! I handed you the divorce papers!”
A sheepish look crossed Jayden’s face as he admitted, “I never filed them. I tore them up.”
“Why would you do that?” she asked.
Jayden’s voice softened. “You might have wanted a divorce, but I didn’t. I want us to stay together forever.”
Elyse was incensed. “How could you not divorce me? Your behavior was so unreasonable back then!”<fn9d21> Follow current nov?ls on find~novel</fn9d21>
“I know I stepped out of line, but please, let’s not dredge up the topic of divorce,” Jayden replied.
Speechless, Elyse grabbed the marriage certificate. As her gazended on the names, her fury began to ebb away.
A momentter, she spoke, her voice tinged with hurt. “I never thought I’d see this document again.”
Jayden pulled her closer, allowing her to sit on hisp, and softened his voice. “I was wrong before, but the thought of divorcing you was unbearable. When I found you again, I couldn’t bear to tell you we were still married.”
“If we’re still married, then a wedding isn’t necessary,” Elyse noted.
Jayden’s brow creased. The idea didn’t sit well with him. They had never had a proper wedding.

He wrapped his arms around her, offering a tender peck. “Let’s set this conversation aside for now. You’ve been busy with your tour, and we haven’t had much quality time together.”
Elyse protested. “How can you say we haven’t spent quality time together? Didn’t we just share a few days at the hotel recently? Or has that slipped your mind?”
Jayden began unbuttoning her shirt yfully. “That’s different. It doesn’t count.”
“Why not?” Elyse halted his hands.
“Because stealing moments here and there isn’t enough,” he replied.
Taken aback, Elyse warned, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It’s still broad daylight. If we’re to do anything, it should wait until nightfall.”
“I’ve missed you. It’s only a short wait until dusk. We can spend the time until then,” Jayden whispered, his breath warm against her earlobe.
Elyse’s resolve melted away at his touch.
Their intimate moment was abruptly interrupted by a knock at the door.
“Mr. Owen, you have an important visitor,” Driscoll announced.
At that instant, Elyse was already undressed, lying close to a fully clothed Jayden.
His face clouded over, clearly annoyed by the disruption, his eyes shing with irritation and a subtle hint of defiance.
Elyse reached up, caressed his cheek, and kissed him reassuringly. “Go see your guest. I’ll get dressed and join you downstairs.”
Jayden gave her a yful pinch and promised, “Behave for now. I’ll make it up to youter tonight.”
