    “Okay,” Reba agreed without hesitation.

“Alright, I won’t bother you any longer.” Jack stood up, looking young and charming. “Amelia, if you ever need any info, just give me a shout. I promise to spill everything I know–no secrets kept.”

    Amelia didn’t respond.

She was well aware they were just ying each other.

Jack didn’t seem to mind. He shed Reba a smile and said, “Alright, Cousin Reba, I’m heading out.”

    Reba was speechless.

After Jack left, Reba finally turned to her mom and asked, “Mom, why did they want to hurt you?”

Amelia told her everything about the shares.

Her daughter could buy back the shares at the original price, but Amelia wasn’t allowed to get involved in anything about the Quinn family anymore. Once Reba was officially tied to the shares, Amelia couldn’t step in or offer any advice.

Those people probably made their move back then because they were afraid Reba would find the money to buy the shares back. With Jeffrey working things behind the scenes, the Quinn Group might’ve easily ended up in their hands.

“They went after you just because of some stupid shares? Aren’t you his actual sister?” Reba couldn’t believe it.

“Family means nothing to those people,” Amelia replied with a cool detachment. “When ites to profit, they’ll cut off anyone–blood doesn’t matter.”

    Reba frowned, feeling uneasy.

She never thought her mom had grown up in such a cold, ruthless family.

“But those shares you called ‘just a little‘ are now worth hundreds of billions,” Amelia said, calm as ever, dropping the kind of bombshell that could shatter worlds. “They’ve gone up more than a hundred times since I sold them.”

Reba’s jaw nearly hit the floor.

‘Hundreds of billions?‘ Reba’s mind was spinning.

She just blurted out, “Then why did you sell them?”

“They thought it wasn’t right for a woman to hold that many shares,” Amelia replied, her voice t, totally unfazed. “They tried every trick in the book to squeeze me out. Frankly, I was just done arguing, so I sold and walked away.”

Reba felt an overwhelming mix of emotions swirling inside her.

Just how much did Mom really suffer to be able to say all that so calmly? Reba thought to herself.

“They won’t just let you get those shares without a fight,” Amelia said, her voice full of certainty from years of dealing with them. “Are you scared?”

“Not at all.” Reba shook her head. The moment she thought about reiming what should’ve always belonged to her mom, every trace of fear vanished.

Amelia reached out and gently ruffled Reba’s hair.

All along, Amelia never taught Reba the ins and outs of business or finance. Her reasons went beyond what she’d said before–the real reason was simple: she didn’t want Reba getting mixed up with the Quinn family. She knew the moment Reba started learning, those people would be plotting and scheming in no time.

Amelia’s savings were more than enough to keep Reba set for life–living in luxury, never having to worry about a damn thing. Why throw her daughter into the toxic, ruthless world the Quinns lived in?

Turns out, Amelia’s instincts were spot on.

    They’d held back before.

But once they caught wind of Amelia passing her fortune on to Reba, even thatst bit of hesitation vanished–the Quinns made their move, all because of greed and that tiny shred of fear.

So now, Amelia figured there was no point in holding back anymore. It was time to let go of doubts and face this head–on.

“Mom,” Reba said, her voice soft but full of curiosity.

Amelia looked at her. “Yes?<b>” </b>

Reba met her mom’s eyes. “When they were pressuring you back then, what was Mr. Guzman doing?”

Reba thought to herself, ‘Seriously, if Mom was dating him back then–May said so–boyfriends are supposed to be there for you, right? Even if he couldn’t do much, wasn’t he at least supposed to give her some emotional support?‘

“He was…” Amelia paused, her words faltering for a moment.

He was off messing around with other women.

He kept her waiting, always promising more.

He was even lining up an engagement with someone else.

“Too busy battling his uncle for control,” Amelia finally said, steering the conversation away. She didn’t want Reba dragged into that ugly mess–no good woulde of it except making her miserable.

Reba scrunched her eyebrows, clearly troubled.

Seriously, why is everyone so obsessed with power struggles?‘ Reba thought to herself.

    Her phone chimed.

She nced down–the notification had just popped up.

Reba picked it up and saw a message from Jack: [Hey, Cousin Reba! It’s me, Jack–the most adorable and trustworthy little cousin you’ve got. Seriously, if you ever need anything at all, just text me.]

Reba locked her screen and didn’t bother to reply.

Jack waited a good thirty minutes with no reply, then muttered, “Wow, Cousin Reba is ice cold.”

Daniel just stared at him, speechless.

Daniel said, “Mr. Sebastian Quinn just called–he couldn’t reach you.”

Jack shrugged. “My phone was on silent.”

Daniel warned him, “He’s gonna be mad, you know.”

“No problem,” Jack said with a grin, dialing right away. As soon as Liam picked up, Jack turned on the charm. “Hey Grandpa!”

    Liam didn’t answer right away.

Jack had his excuse all lined up. “I just dropped by to see Aunt Amelia and Cousin Reba. Tomorrow’s Reba’s birthday—are you gonna send her a present?”

Liam’s attention shifted at once. “Tomorrow?”

    Jack said smoothly, “Yep.”

Liam Quinn sat in the courtyard, stroking his beard as he mulled over what kind of gift to give.

“If you’re stuck on what to pick, just go pricey,” Jack said, sounding rxed and yful. “Send her something big–like a piece of prime real estate, a luxury estate, even a yacht or a ship. Even if Cousin Reba isn’t a fan, she can always cash it in and walk away with a bundle.”

    Liam nodded.

‘Not a bad idea,‘ he thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Ryan was busy getting Reba’s birthday gift ready.

When Jeffrey heard what they were nning to give her, he couldn’t help but frown.

Sure, he’d given Reba all that stuff before, but as her still–legally–married husband, there was no way he could let them outdo him.

“Give Reba the winery and the ind I bought recently,” Jeffrey said, his voice cool and decisive. “And send over every limited–edition sports car that came out this year.“.

Gregory just stared at him, totally speechless.

Gregory kindly reminded him, “Ms. Jensen’s vi only has space for six cars.”

Jeffrey replied coolly, “Then buy the house next door, expand it, and give her both.”

    Gregory nodded.

    ‘Makes sense,‘ he thought.

“When you get all this ready, make sure to leak the news,” Jeffrey said, a scheming glint deep in his eyes. “Let Mr. Liam Quinn and Mr. Guzman hear about it.”

This was Reba’s first real pot of gold since setting foot in Honn.

‘Gotta help her make even more,‘ Jeffrey thought to himself.

    No denying it.

Jeffrey’s n was already paying off.

When Liam and Ryan found out what Jeffrey was giving Reba, they both started pulling out all the stops to hunt down even pricier gifts. The only thing on their minds was, ‘As her grandpa and her real dad, there’s no way we’re letting that jerk outshine us.

Reba had no idea she was right at the heart of this ridiculous gift showdown.

Once Jack was gone, she grabbed Samuel and headed off to his new school so he could get used to the ce.

The campus sat smack in the middle of a gatedmunity, and was ranked among Honn’s top three preschools. They offered two meals and two snacks daily, and the school bus meant zero headaches for pick- up and drop–off. <fn7111> Checktest chapters at F?nd-Novel</fn7111>

“If you ever feel out of ce at your new school, just tell Mommy, okay?” Reba said as they walked home together. “Mommy can always find you a new one if you want.”

    Samuel nodded. “Mm–hmm.”

    Reba booped his nose yfully.

Out of the blue, Samuel looked up and called out, “Mommy?”

Reba nced down at him, “Yes?”

Samuel’s eyes flickered with curiosity. “Will Daddye to celebrate your birthday with us tomorrow?”

Reba was taken aback for a moment, suddenly realizing that ever since they’d settled into the new ce, Samuel hadn’t seen Jeffrey at all. With Jeffrey stuck in the hospitaltely, they hadn’t even done a single video call.

“If you want to see him, Mommy could always call him over…” Reba began.

“But if Daddy doese, you’ve gotta invite Unclen too,” Samuel jumped in, putting a quick stop to her wandering thoughts. “Otherwise, you know how he is–he’ll totally get the wrong idea and think you still haven’t gotten over him.”
