Noble Tales 62

“By the way, I was looking for youst night, where were you?” Den looked at Maximus. The king wanted him to give him the report by the end of the day, but when the time came, he was nowhere to be found.

“What did you get?” Maximus ignored him, and went straight to the main point. “Anyone saw him?”

“No.” Den shook his head. “I asked around two hundred people…” The royal beta made a face when he said that, because it was a waste of his time to ask around this trivial matter when he could do something more worth his time, but the result surprised him. “None of them saw Killian.”

He couldn’t ask those thousand warriors with the short span of time, but there as no way two hundred people didn’t see Killian.

“Are you sure they know him?”

“Yeah, they know him. Apparently, he is quite popr.” Den sat down, he stared at the window. “I don’t understand with all of these things. What else do you want to prove, Max?”

The king didn’t answer him immediately, but he called the warrior at the door, and asked him to find the warrior, who guarded Rania’s bedroom the other day.

“What now?” Den frowned, his displeasure was written all over his face. He was not happy at all with whatever Maximus was going to do, because in his mind, the king could use this time to do something more productive. They had a lot of things to handle, since they had won a few cities in Barlukan Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Eiten didn’t say anything, he was mostly curious about the situation. If he had to be honest, he was more inclined to believe Rania when she said Killian was in her bedroom, though the guard, who stayed there said otherwise.

Eiten had met with Killian, and he didn’t have a good impression on him. Even though, he looked charming, and was well spoken.

Not long after, the warrior came. It was the same warrior, who lied to the king, and said that Rania lied about Killian came to the bedroom.

“You summoned me, my king,” he said politely, kneeling before the sovereign.

“I want to ask you again about the other day. Did Killiane to my mate’s bedroom?” Maximus leaned his body over, his blue eyes were a few shades darker.

“No, my king. No one entered the bedroom. It was thedy, who had destroyed her own room.” The answer was very detail, even though Maximus didn’t ask those.

On the other hand, Eiten leaned back, he crossed his arms in front of his chest, and then stared at the warrior. The royal gamma’s expression was unreadable.

“So, no one came into her bedroom?” Maximus stood up from his seat, and started walking toward the guard. He walked very slowly, just like a predator stalked its prey.

There was a subtle shift on the warrior’s expression, which was noticed by the king and the royal gamma, but

    Den seem oblivious about it.

“Yes, no one came to her bedroom. I was there for hours, and never left my position, but I didn’t see anyonee or leave the bedroom. It was only thedy there.”

Again, long and detail exnation. That was unnecessary, but he did it anyway.

“Are you sure?” This time, Maximus was already in front of the man, he stared down at him. The king was a head taller than the warrior.

“Yes, my king… there was no one there.”

“But, why I smelled someone else’s scent there?”

No, Maximus didn’t smell anything. Killian had done something to alter his scent, where his scent vanished for a duration of time, so no one would know he was there.

However, the warrior didn’t know all the detail. He was only instructed to say that, and reassured that Killian wouldn’t leave his scent inside the room.

When he entered the bedroom, he didn’t smell it either, but probably the king’s nose was keener than him.

“Tell me the truth, and I will spare your life, or I will prove your lie, and I will feed you to the wild wolf.” Maximus didn’t raise his voice, but he didn’t have to, since it was already enough to make the man trembled in fear. “So, will you tell me the truth?”

“That’s the truth, my king. I will not lie to you.” It was already a great achievement to lie to the king’s face, but he was going to stay with what he said until the end. “That’s the truth, please believe me.”

“No. Tell me whose scent was that.”<fn6b44> Find the newest release on F?nd-Novel</fn6b44>

Den’s interest was piqued when he heard that, so did Eiten, because both of them was told there was no scent at all, aside from Rania, which indicating she was alone.

But now, Maximus said different thing.

They wondered what was in the king’s mind. They couldn’t know for sure, but it didn’t make them feel easy when they saw Maximus was too close with the warrior. The way he stared at him, there was a strong murderous intention there.

“Once again. I will ask you once again before you lost your life.” Maximus grabbed the warrior’s neck, which made Den stood up from his seat, and called him in a warning tone, but the king had too far gone. “Did Killian or someone else enter the room?”

Eiten straightened his back, because this was getting out of hand, he didn’t know what to do, but he was on the edge of his seat.

He saw the subtle change on the warrior’s expression, but it could be because he scared of the king, which was understandable. Who wouldn’t?

There was a chance he lied, but when he was adamant like this, it was hard to judge.

“Tell me.” Maximus squeezed his neck, which made his face turned red. At this point, the king couldn’t care. less whether he was lying or not, his bloodlust had taken over his sanity. He proved it once again why he was called the Mad King.

“No one…” The warrior breathed heavily. His face had turned dark now because of the strangtion. Out of instinct, he tried to w Maximus’s hand, which drew blood, but the king didn’t seem to be bothered by it. “No one… no one entered…”

“Max!” Den called his name anxiously, he walked toward them, as he wanted to stop the king from this craziness. “Maximus!”

Maximus didn’t hear his name was being called. The impulsiveness to kill the warrior was very strong. It had been a while, since thest time he killed someone. They had not yet captured any traitor to be fed to the wild wolves in the forest.

“Maximus, stop this,” Den said in a warning tone. He was only a step away from them. “You are going to kill him. You don’t want to do this.”

The warrior’s attempt to w the king’s hand, ckened. His eyes rolled back, as he couldn’t breathe. He was so close to lose his life.

“Max, stop it!” Den reached out to the king, trying to physically stop him before he killed the warrior.
