Chapter 149: The Vanishing of Alpha Navien

Chapter 149: Chapter 149: The Vanishing of Alpha Navien

    Meriya’s POV~

I clenched my fists so tight my nails almost broke the skin, as if pain could cool down the fire boiling inside me. My eyes darted to Kale, and then to her... that filthy little bitch unting herself in broad daylight, daring to sway her hips as if she could seduce my mates right in front of me.

I gulped down the fury wing up my throat. Not today. I could not lose my mind today.

    Today is too important.

Because the man from the werewolves council is here and he is none other than my uncle. My mother’s brother. The former Alpha of Blood Fang pack, Alpha Navien.

Yes. My uncle from the same blood.

He would help me today. He had already promised me that I should take my chance, that I should seize it with both hands, and if I did, he would make sure the Alphas bent to me. He would make them submit.

"Today," I whispered to myself, feeling the fire calm into something sharper, hungrier. "Today I win."

My mother has a brother and a sister and both of them are at very high positions, my aunt is the Lycan Queen and my uncle the respected member of the Werewolves council.

If not for that bitch’s father, my mother and father would have still been alive and I wouldn’t have to live like a fucking orphan under the scraps of my aunt and uncle.

So when my uncle arrived, I decided to get on his good side.

A grand weing, the kind that would make the walls shake with music and the pack bow down in awe. Surely my uncle deserved that. Surely the Alphas would arrange such magnificence.

    But no.

No order was given for a grand celebration. No golden banners, no thunder of drums. Just... a simple gathering, which got on my nerves.

I felt my jaw clench at the thought. My uncle, a man of such power, weed like he were nothing but a traveler passing through. How dare they.

No... nothing would happen like this if I am here.

So I made sure the gathering was elevated, made sure it gleamed, made sure it whispered high end in every corner, dripping with wine and luxury. I oversaw every detail, every te, every flower, because this was not their moment... it was mine.

When my uncle entered, he would not be weed by them. He would be weed by me. He would see me.

And then there would be more chance that my uncle would go to any length just to help me secure the title of Luna of Silver Dawn pack.

I sat there bathed in my own glory, waiting, waiting, so patiently for my uncle to arrive. The gathering was mine. The lights, the wine, theughter, all of it spoke of me. My heart bubbled with excitement because after this party, after tonight, everything would change.

    I had it all nned.

I will make sure these Alphas fall in my beauty trap and when they lose themselves in desire and the deed is already done, then my uncle would pressure them to ept me as their chosen mate.

I have already prepared the drug for it, strong enough to knock out the senses of powerful Alphas like them. Just the thought of what might happenter made me giddy.

The thought alone made my lips curve, made my chest tight with sweet pride. I could already see it. Their gazes, their surrender. I would be their mate, their queen.

But then slowly as time passed the bubbling inside me began to die.

The minutes slipped by. The hall grew restless. Everyone’s eyes began to turn uneasy. Because still there was no sign of my uncle.

The Alphas had already arrived. Their presence heavy, manding. But him? No sign.

    Why?

This was disrespect to any Alpha guest; is it not everyone who has to arrive before the Alpha of the pack? And Alpha Aeron with his brothers had already arrived, but there was no sign of him.

Half an hour passed. Still nothing. My hands trembled under the table. I was just about to send someone, just about to demand where he was, why he dared to make them wait...

    When the doors burst open.

A man ran inside, his face pale as death, his eyes wild. My heart stilled. I knew him. The council messenger. The one who hade with my uncle.

    Something cold slid into me.

My heart dropped into my stomach before he even spoke. I could see it on his face. Fear. Terror.

"What happened?" My voice was thin as paper, I didn’t even realize when I pushed myself to the front of the crowd.

He bowed, shaking. "Alpha Navien... is nowhere. We cannot find him. He does not answer the mind-link. Since afternoon we waited, but he never came. It is like—" His voice cracked. "It is like he has disappeared."

    The hall fell silent.

I could not breathe. My uncle? Disappeared? Impossible. He was not some weak fool to vanish like smoke. He would never ignore the mind-link. Something had definitely happened.

My vision swam. My stomach churned. I clenched my fists until they ached.

I turned to Aeron. He stood like stone. Cold and unbothered. His expression barely shifted, only the faint crease of irritation at his brow.

I walked towards him hurriedly. "Aeron... my uncle is not here. You have to find him. Something has happened. He would not disappear like this."

But his eyes snapped to me. Annoyance flickered there, as if my words themselves were an inconvenience.

The impatience on his face was crystal clear, but he also knew he couldn’t ignore this. After all, Alpha Navien had disappeared in his pack and he would be responsible.

So he ordered his warriors to find the whereabouts of Alpha Navien and I breathed a sigh of relief, at least he was not ignoring this. But my hope died down before it could rise higher.

"I hope your uncle is not making some shitty trouble." And then he turned away, leaving me frozen.

Shame burned in my face, searing hot. Anger rose like a storm. I wanted to smash the sses, tear the tablecloth, scream at them all. But beneath it all, a dread crawled up my spine, cold and merciless.

    My uncle was gone.

What would happen to my n... how was I going to survive this humiliating life? How could my uncle betray me like this?

My mind was filled with countless questions and in the midst of them my eyes lifted up and collided with her—the bitch maid. And there was actually a smirk on her face, like she was enjoying a good show, but to me it looked like she was mocking me.
