The hall was buzzing like a broken hive. Everyone’s whispers turned sharp the moment they realized Alpha Navien was nowhere to be found. I stood quietly, watching the panic spread like fire, and a smile curled on my lips.

So the drama was finally going to unfold.

I wondered, just for a moment, how colorful their faces would look when they saw his broken body. Would they turn pale? Would they rage? Would they tremble? The thought almost made meugh.

My gaze drifted andnded on Meriya.

There she was—screeching, crying, waving her hands like the whole world should revolve around her misery. Disgust burned in me. If I could, I would close my eyes just to avoid the sight of her face. But she kepting in front of me, like a fly that refused to die.

I clenched my jaw and looked away.

Not much time passed before Alpha Aeron stood and his voice cut through the chaos. "We have found Alpha Navien."

    The hall fell silent.

A smirk tugged at the corner of my lips. Too soon. The warriors of Silver Dawn really were efficient.

Everyone rose, the crowd spilling out of the hall as Aeron, Luca, and Kael led the way. People whispered, exchanged nces, the air thick with dread and curiosity.

I followed, blending with the sea of bodies, finding the perfect spot to watch the next act.

And then I saw them... two warriors dragging a man. Not gently. His body hit the ground once, twice, blood smearing on the dirt.

    Gasps broke out around me.

    It was Navien.

The proud Alpha of Blood Fang. The council’s hound. A man who once believed no one could touch him—now beaten into a ruin. His body limp, his face swollen, his skin shredded by fists and ws. He was still alive, but unconscious, and the sight made the crowd tremble.

"How could this be?" voices hissed. "How could someone beat a council Alpha like this?"

He hadn’t even shifted. No sign of his wolf. No marks of a beast fight. His body was broken in the most humiliating way—skull still intact, ribs twisted, limbs at strange angles. Whoever had done this hadn’t just wanted him beaten. They wanted to humiliate him.

I already knew. Of course I knew.

But I kept my face calm, my eyes wide like everyone else.

    Beside me, Meriya broke.

Her scream tore through the night, like a ughtered animal. She stumbled forward, her eyes locked on her uncle’s ruined body.

Blood poured from him, but what silenced the crowd more than anything was the bright, ring red wound at his legs. The shameful injury no man, no Alpha, could ever recover from.

"UNCLE!" she wailed, dropping to her knees. "What happened to you? Who did this to you?" Her voice cracked, broken, trembling. She reached for his limp hand, tears streaking her face. "You’re such a good man... how could someone be so cruel?"

Her cries rang, but the Alphas stood stiff. Aeron’s jaw was tight, Luca’s brows furrowed, Kael’s eyes narrowed. None of them looked at her, no matter how much she wailed to get their attention.

Meriya spun toward them, her voice breaking. "Alphas, you have to! You have to find the one who did this to my uncle! You must avenge him!" She pointed at Navien’s shattered body, her arm trembling. "You cannot let him be disgraced like this!"

The crowd murmured, unease spreading like smoke. Warriors shifted uneasily. People whispered of shame, of insult, of council rage.

    But I...

I just stood there, a faint smile lingering on my lips, hidden in the shadows.

Because I already knew no one here would ever find the culprit.

And that made this night even sweeter.

I could see suddenly Meriya’s eyes sparkled, and curiosity burned through me. Was she not just crying rivers moments ago...

Then I looked up and instantly realized, a male was walking towards her—more likely he was walking towards her uncle’s body.

He stepped forward, his eyes fixed not on her tears but on the broken body of Navien.

Curiosity shone in him like a me.

He circled the ruined Alpha slowly, his boots dragging across the dirt as he bent low, studying each wound with sharp eyes. His head tilted slightly, like a hunter examining his prey.

Who could do this? That question burned in him. To beat a council Alpha into this state... such power was rare. Almost unheard of.

Kael’s expression was calm, but there was something like respect in his eyes. He crouched lower, brushing away blood with his fingers, tracing the marks, searching for a clue. The more he saw, the more his interest grew.

    Almost impressed.

He leaned closer, studying Navien’s swollen face, and then suddenly his breath caught as the familiar scent hit him, making him even forget Alpha Navien.

"Lucian..." the name slipped from his lips, like even he couldn’t believe himself.

    Slowly, Kael lifted his head.

And there... standing at the edge of the circle was his brother.

    Lucian.

For a heartbeat, the world stilled.

Aeron’s eyes snapped to the figure. Luca’s breath hitched. Even the cold Alpha could not hide the spark in his gaze.

And Selene... she froze too. It was her first time seeing him after a year.

But unlike the brothers, her heart twisted with something else entirely.

Kael did not hesitate. He abandoned Navien’s broken body, abandoned every thought, and rushed forward like a man who had been starved too long.

He wrapped his arms around his brother, like he would never let go again.

"You’re back," Kael whispered, his voice breaking with the weight of years. "You’re really back."

Lucian’s lips curved, and he replied in a rough and dry voice as if unused for ages. "Yeah... I’m back."

    "I had to."

Kael pressed his forehead to his brother’s shoulder, ughter and relief tangled in his voice. He did not understand what those words meant, but none of it mattered.

Because Lucian was here. Finally, and in perfectly fine condition. In his human form, which filled him with relief and joy.
