ine was acutely aware that she was facing a threat. The moment she reached for her lunch box, she knew it would likely lead to her suffering another beating.
With tears streaming down her face, ine pleaded, “Sister Gena, you’ve already punished and scolded me enough yesterday. Please, have mercy and let me off today?”<fnea4a> Follow current nov?ls on find~novel</fnea4a>
Gena raised her eyebrows and replied, “Even if I let you go, who will bring my dead mother back to life? Do you have any idea how my mother suffered? She drank a bottle of pesticide and spent herst moments in a hospital bed, gasping for breath as she slowly suffocated.”
Overwhelmed with emotion, ine sobbed, “Sister Gena, I know you loved your mother, but I haven’t harmed her in any way…”
Gena shot back, “Are you still trying to twist the truth? My mother died because of her ungrateful daughter-inw! That’s why I can’t stand someone like you! You should consider yourself lucky we’re not in ancient times, or I would have already chopped you into pieces!”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Lady Wilson chimed in with a triumphant tone, “Gena, you’re absolutely right! Women like this should have been thrown into a pig cage in the past! We should lock her in a bamboo cage with heavy stones and toss her into the river to drown!”
Fearful, ine remained silent, not daring to approach her lunch box. Instead, she knelt before Gena, resembling a child caught in wrongdoing.
Once Gena finished herst spoonful of porridge, she used her steamed bun to scoop up the remaining rice in the lunch box, devouring it all in one go.
Then, she suddenly eximed, “Oh, I think I’m still a bit hungry.”
At that moment, another female inmate pointed to the stic basket, saying, “Sister Gena, isn’t there another lunch box left? You should eat that too!”
Gena looked at ine with a deliberate smile, asking, “Oh, ine, would you mind if I helped myself to your breakfast as well?”
“Not at all! I wouldn’t mind it one bit!” ine dared not protest and could only nod vigorously.
With a satisfied smile, Gena continued, “I’m d to hear that! You see, I really enjoy exercising, which gives me a bigger appetite than most people. I expended a lot of energy beating you up yesterday, so I need to replenish my strength today.”
She then made her way to the stic basket, retrieving the lunch box inside. After opening it, Gena held one steamed bun in one hand and the lunch box with porridge in the other.
Deliberately torturing ine, Gena slurped the porridge loudly, the sound making ine’s legs feel weak and her stomach churn with hunger.
Gena devoured all the steamed buns and about a third of the porridge before she pretended to carelessly drop the lunch box, spilling porridge all over the ground.
As she spoke, Gena waved her hand at ine, manding, “Go to the toilet, grab the mop, and clean this up for me.”
ine had never been one to waste food; she had often left her own meals unfinished. Yet, witnessing the spilled porridge made her heart ache.
Seeing ine stare intently at the mess, Gena smirked and taunted, “If you’re really hungry, why not kneel down and lick the porridge off the ground?”
Humiliated and wronged, ine felt as though she could disappear. Kneeling down to lick porridge off the floor? The ground was filthy! So many people had walked on it, and the mop in the toilet was grimy. How could she possibly degrade herself like that?
She resolved she would rather starve than stoop that low!
With that thought in mind, ine quickly replied, “I’ll just get the mop to clean this up.”
Gena sneered, “You can do whatever you want, but mark my words—you’ll end up licking that food off the ground sooner orter! Just wait and see!”<h3 ss="has-text-align-center" id="chapter-list"><strong></strong></p“oh>
