Jacob abruptly turned to Charlie, his expression tinged with concern, and asked, “Charlie, do you think your mother-inw will evere back home?”
Charlie frowned, feeling a bit ufortable. “Dad, what do you want me to say? Should I say yes or no?”
Jacob, taken aback, replied sheepishly, “Come on, let’s not dance around the issue. I know you’re not exactly thrilled with your mother-inw, just like me, right?”
Charlie stared at him in disbelief and eximed, “Dad, I never said that!”
Jacob squinted at him and said, “This is just between us, you don’t have to hold back. ire isn’t here, so we can speak our minds, right?”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Charlie understood his father-inw’s intentions. He was clearly seeking an ally in this matter. While Jacob was hoping that ine wouldn’t return, ire was eager to locate her mother as soon as possible.
This created a psychological tug-of-war between father and daughter, leaving Charlie caught in the middle. With the current situation at a standstill, Jacob felt desperate to sway Charlie to his side.
After all, there were only three residents in the household. If two of them wished for ine to stay away, that would constitute a majority decision.
Jacob nced at Charlie, trying to persuade him further. “Charlie, think about it. For years, your mom has berated you almost daily, even urging ire to divorce you time and time again! I’ve witnessed it myself! Honestly, as your father-inw, it pains me to see you treated this way. They say a son-inw is like a son, but when has your mom ever treated you that way? Never! To her, you’re just an outsider!”
Meeting Jacob’s serious gaze, Charlie responded earnestly, “Dad, we can’t decide whether or not she’lle back, or when she might return. Even if neither of us wants her back, she could show up unexpectedly tonight! It’s entirely possible she might barge into the kitchen while Aunt Matilda is cooking and start a scene! Mom is an adult; she cane and go as she pleases, and we can’t control her.”
In truth, Charlie had a way to influence ine’s whereabouts, but he wasn’t about to share that with Jacob.
Jacob’s face twisted in shock, a fearful expression crossing his features. “You don’t really think it would be that coincidental, do you? If ine were to return just as Matilda is at our house, cooking and having dinner, chaos would erupt! Knowing your mom, she’s bound to cause a ruckus…”
Seeing the fear in Jacob’s eyes, Charlie quickly tried to reassure him, “Dad, I really don’t think Mom wille back tonight. You can go ahead and invite Aunt Matilda over.”
Charlie’s words did little to calm Jacob’s nerves. He huffed, “How can you be so sure? You just said she cane and go as she pleases! What if she does show up?!”
Charlie chuckled, finding humor in the situation. “Dad, don’t worry! I promise you, Mom won’t return tonight. If she does, you can twist my head off and kick it like a ser ball.”
Jacob retorted, “No, I don’t want your head! I just want Matilda to enjoy a pleasant meal at our house without any drama.”<fnc4f3> Content originallyes from find(?)ovel</fnc4f3>
Suddenly, Jacob’s eyes widened as a thought struck him. “I have an idea! My dear son-inw, you need to help me!”
Charlie raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “What is it? What do you need me to do?”
Leaning in closer, Jacob spoke in a conspiratorial tone, as if they were plotting a strategy. “When Matilda arrives, I’ll lock the front door from the inside. If inees back, you need to block her from entering! You’re strong; you can drag her away from the house! If you can’t lift her, then you must knock her out! Regardless of the situation, you cannot let here in and run into Matilda!”
