Charlie entered the restaurant section of Shangri-La, noticing that the vast food and beverage area was unusually quiet today. Many of the waiters had also cleared out. Isaac Cameron mentioned that he was concerned about having too many waiters present, as it seemed to upset Cynthia.
As Charlie navigated through the outer restaurant of the catering department, he made his way to the Sky Garden at its heart. Inside the Sky Garden Banquet Hall, he observed that all eighty-eight banquet tables had been removed, leaving just one well-appointed Western-style dining table at the center.
It didn’t take much for Charlie to deduce that his aunt must have ordered the removal of the tables. This realization left him feeling somewhat troubled. Despite having nearly 60 billion dors in cash in his bank ount, Charlie held a strong aversion to his aunt’s ostentatious ways, reminiscent of an ancient emperor’s rtive. He had no desire to unt his wealth.
For Charlie, dining didn’t have to be extravagant; he wouldn’t think twice about enjoying a bowl of beef noodles for ten dors at a roadside ramen shop. The thought ofpletely clearing out the Shangri-La and the Sky Garden just for one meal felt absurd to him, stripping away any sense of superiority he could have felt.
On the contrary, the situation only intensified his feelings of resistance. Together with Isaac Cameron, Charlie approached the solitary table. The dining table was approximately two meters long and one meter wide, with two seats positioned at either end.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Isaac Cameron courteously pulled out one of the chairs for Charlie, saying, “Master, I apologize for the wait.”
Charlie nodded and replied, “That’s fine. You can wait for her at my mobile phone.”
Isaac Cameron quickly inquired, “Master, would you like something to drink while you wait? I can arrange that for you.”
“Just a ss of boiled water, please,” Charlie requested.
“Understood, young master,” Isaac responded.
Charlie sat alone at the dining table, fiddling with his phone. Just then, he received a message from Nanako Ito: “What is Charlie up to?”
A smile crept across Charlie’s face as he read her message. He replied, “I’m getting ready to eat out. How about you?”
Nanako Ito responded, “I just returned from the hospital, where I was keeping my fatherpany.”
Shortly after, she sent another message: “Charlie, did your wife like the ring you gave her? Is the size still right?”
Charlie replied, “She loves it, thank you for helping me with the size; it fits perfectly.”
Nanako Ito responded with a smiley face: “That’s wonderful! The Chinese Lunar New Year is in four days. I wish you a Happy New Year in advance!”
With a smile on his face, Charlie typed back: “Thank you! How is Mr. Ito doing?”
Nanako Ito replied, “The doctor said he should be able to leave the hospital after a few days of rehab.”
“That’s good to hear,” Charlie typed back, sending just those three words. At that moment, a woman dressed in luxurious attire entered the Sky Garden.
This woman appeared to be around forty years old, d in a limited edition Chanel outfit. Her medium-length, dyed blonde hair framed a face thatcked conventional beauty, instead giving off a rather cold and unweing vibe.
This woman was none other than Charlie’s aunt, Cynthia.<fn3759> Follow current nov?ls on FindN0vel</fn3759>
