The bright side of the situation was that Stefanie lived in Eastcliff, and the timing of her performance was just right. If she hurried back now, it wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve yet, allowing her to celebrate the New Year with her family until midnight.
Charlie responded to her, “Then head back to your aunt and uncle’s ce and help me wish them a Happy New Year!”
Stefanie replied, “Thank you, Charlie! Happy New Year to you as well!”
After their exchange, Charlie put his phone away and focused on enjoying the Spring Festival G with his wife, ire.
As the clock neared midnight, Jacob shared his feelings, saying, “You know, while the firecracker ban is a step towards being environmentally friendly, it does make the New Year feel a bit less festive. What a pity…”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
ire joined in with a sigh, “I used to love the smell of fireworks when I was a kid, but now I hardly ever get to experience that anymore.”
Charlie suggested, “Even though firecrackers aren’t allowed in the city, we could still go to the suburbs and set some off to celebrate.”
ire’s face lit up momentarily before she shook her head and replied, “Let’s forget about that. Everyone stays home for the Spring Festival at this hour; where would we even find firecrackers?”
Thinking for a moment, Charlie decided to text Isaac Cameron, asking, “Isaac, do you have any fireworks in stock at Shangri-La?”<fn8931> Readplete version only at find?novel</fn8931>
Isaac Cameron quickly responded, “Yes, young master. Do you need some?”
“Yes,” Charlie confirmed, “My wife wants to go to the suburbs to set off firecrackers.”
Isaac, busy with his tasks, replied, “I’ll send them over for you.”
“No need,” Charlie said. “Enjoy your holiday; don’t let me interrupt your family time.”
He then asked, “Is there someone on duty at Shangri-La tonight?”
“Yes, young master,” Isaac assured him. “Shangri-La is open 24/7, and there’s always someone on duty.”
Charlie then said, “Great, please let the person on duty know. I’ll drive over to pick them up.”
Isaac was touched by Charlie’s thoughtfulness and suggested, “Why don’t I ask the staff to deliver it to you? They get triple pay for being on duty anyway.”
Charlie replied, “Let’s skip that; it’s New Year’s Eve. I don’t want to inconvenience anyone. I’ll drive myself since there’s bound to be no traffic at this hour. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
With no other option, Isaac agreed, “Alright, young master. I’ll inform the staff. You cane by anytime to pick it up.”
After sorting things out with Isaac, Charlie turned to ire and said, “Honey, I’m stepping out for a bit. I’ll be back soon.”
ire quickly grabbed his hand, looking concerned. “Please, don’t go out and tire yourself. Just stay here and watch TV; it doesn’t matter if we set off fireworks or not.”
Charlie smiled gently, reassuring her, “It’s okay, just stay at home. I’ll be back in no time.”
With that, he got up, took ire’s car keys, and headed out the door.
ire wanted to stop him but realized he was already moving quickly. With a resigned sigh, she called after him, “Drive safely and don’t rush!”
Charlie’s voice echoed back from outside, “I will, don’t worry!”
After Charlie left, ine remarked, “ire, I want to share something from my heart. Charlie truly cares for you…”
She continued, “In the past, I thought Charlie wasn’t good enough for you and that you should marry someone from a wealthy family to secure a good match. But now I see that the most vital aspect of marriage is the emotional connection. Whether someone is rich or not isn’t what matters; what’s important is that he treats you like a treasure so you can be truly happy…”
