Charlie noticed that ire still considered Fei Kexin a friend deep down in her heart.
However, the vast differences in their social statuses left her feeling somewhat disheartened.
Charlie understood this sentiment all too well.
Additionally, he wasn’t particrly keen on his wife bing too close to Fei Kexin.
On one hand, Fei Kexin was already aware of ire’s true identity. If ire grew too close to her, there was a risk that Fei Kexin could inadvertently reveal clues about it. On the other hand, Fei Kexin’s intelligence was starkly contrasted with ire’s naivety. It was like a primary school student standing next to a graduate student; one was far too astute while the other was blissfully unaware. If these two were to truly be friends, it would require immense effort from both sides to findmon ground.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Thus, Charlie believed it was best for them to maintain their current distance.
To shift the conversation, Charlie asked ire, “Honey, what time does the graduation ceremony start?”
ire replied, “The ceremony will take ce from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., with the official start at six o’clock.”
Charlie nodded, saying, “In that case, let’s pack our things in the afternoon so we can drive to New York tomorrow morning.”
“I really miss home! My dad returned to Aurous Hill from South Korea a few days ago. I’m curious how he’s managing alone these days. He can’t cook, and eating by himself must be tough,” ire added.
Charlie chuckled, “Eating is a minor issue. With mobile phones these days, it’s hard to go hungry. Plus, with your mom not around, your dad might actually be enjoying some peace and quiet. Maybe he looks forward to using back. For middle-aged and older married men, a few days living alone at home can feel more liberating than being the President of the United States.”
ire sighed, “You have to be a woman to understand family dynamics! When we just arrived in the U.S., my dad was away in South Korea. My mom was alone at home. ording to your logic, she must have been reallyfortable, but she still missed us and decided toe all the way to the U.S. to see us.”
Charlie paused, thinking, “ine actually misses us? Oh dear, you really don’t know your mother well. She came to America because I arranged it for her to be with you. It was a clever way to get her to spend money, but if she had a lot of cash on hand, she wouldn’t have traveled here.”
However, Charlie refrained from revealing the truth and simply smiled, “You’re right, my dear; our mother does value her rtionships.”
ire smiled back, “We’ll head out tomorrow morning and be home in about ten hours. By then, Dad’s little vacation might be over.”
As ire packed her luggage, Charlie stepped out onto the terrace of the presidential suite to call Mrs. Lewis in Canada.
Once the call connected, Mrs. Lewis greeted him, “Young Master!”
Charlie wanted to ask her to stop calling him that, but ultimately decided against it.
He understood that no matter how many times he requested it, Mrs. Lewis would always think of him as the young master of the Wade family.
Moreover, she felt a deep sense of gratitude to the Wade family for saving her life and allowing her to retire in Canada. In her eyes, she was forever indebted to them.
When in thepany of outsiders, she might refer to him by name, but in private, she truly wished to call him “Master.”
epting this, Charlie smiled and said, “Mrs. Lewis, ire’s courses in the U.S. have wrapped up today, and we’re nning to return to Aurous Hill tomorrow. How about you and Lisa prepare some essentials ande to New York to meet us?”
Mrs. Lewis responded enthusiastically, “That sounds wonderful, Master! During this time, Lisa has been expressing her desire to return to Aurous Hill. I’ve also been thinking about thatrge orphanage you mentioned, and I can’t wait to get started!”<fn5735> Get full chapters from FindN0vel</fn5735>
Charlie smiled, “That’s great to hear! I was worried you might not want to leave the Canadian scenery.”
Mrs. Lewis replied earnestly, “Master, to be honest, as we grow older, nothing feels as good as home. I’m eager to contribute to those children once I return.”
“Alright then,” Charlie said, feeling relieved. He continued, “By the way, how are Lisa and udia doing?”
Mrs. Lewis replied, “They continue to work at the supermarket every day. After thest incident, their bond has strengthened, and they now feel like sisters.”
Curious, Charlie asked, “Has udia shown any reluctance about going to Aurous Hill, or does she have any concerns?”
After some thought, Mrs. Lewis said, “Since you left, udia seems much more optimistic and cheerful. She’s looking forward to starting a new life in Aurous Hill. Vancouver holds too many painful memories for her, especially with the prolonged rainy season making things feel dull.”
“However, her only worry is the graves of her parents and younger brother. Lisa assured her that she would take summer vacations each year to return with her and pay their respects, so udia feels reassured.”
“That’s good to hear,” Charlie replied, feeling a sense of relief.
Although he hadn’t interacted much with udia, he empathized with her struggles, especially after losing her entire family to rtives. At just eighteen, she had to endure so much, wearing a facade of fake scars to hide her pain.
He felt grateful that he had helped udia eliminate her enemies; otherwise, it would have been challenging for her to lead a normal life.<h3 ss="has-text-align-center wp-block-heading" id="chapter-list"><strong></strong><h3 ss="has-text-align-center wp-block-heading" id="chapter-list"><strong>Next Chapter</strong>
