Upon hearing Lin Wan’er (ni)’s words, Charlie instinctively nced at the old ck photo album she was holding.
It was immediately apparent that this album had seen better days.
Over the past decade, with the swift rise of smartphones, most people have transitioned to digital formats for their photographs. Rarely do individuals purchase various-sized photo albums and meticulously sort through images like they did two decades ago.
Curious about the contents of the album, Charlie took it from Lin Wan’er (ni) and gingerly turned to the first page.
The first image that greeted him featured two young individuals standing in front of the Statue of Liberty in the United States. The man bore a striking resemnce to Charlie, though his attire was distinctly vintage—a knitted sweater paired with white jeans characteristic of that era.<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
The woman beside him appeared to be around 22 or 23 years old. Tall and slender, she wore a light beige long windbreaker, her hair styled in fashionable curls that blew gracefully in the wind, making her look both stunning and confident.
Lin Wan’er (ni) couldn’t help but exim, “Your mother is truly beautiful…”<fn2530> Official source is Find_Novel(.</fn2530>
Charlie nodded slightly, then teased, “Haven’t you seen my mother before? She was quite the figure in her time.”
Shaking her head, Lin Wan’er (ni) replied, “I did some research on your mother’s life. It’s impressive; she earned unparalleled fame in the fields of technology, finance, and venture capital over twenty or thirty years ago…” As she continued, her voice softened, “Interestingly, the trajectory of the Nu family contrasts sharply with that of your mother. While she thrived in Silicon Valley during the rise of the Inte, the Nu family faced challenges with Wu Feiyan’s emergence. The rapid advancements in information ess left them less engaged with the outside world, resulting in their paths diverging.”
Charlie nodded in understanding and turned to the album’s second page. Here, he found a cherished photo of his parents.
Once again set against the Statue of Liberty, Bruce stood tall and proud, with Lydia (Ava), Charlie’s mother, nestled close to him, her arms wrapped around him lovingly. Bruce reciprocated the gesture, enveloping her in his embrace. Surrounding this central image were four smaller pictures of the couple—some posed, some yful, and others capturing humorous moments. Yet, in every photo, it was clear that their love for one another was profound. Lin Wan’er (ni) couldn’t help but remark, “Your parents must have had a wonderful rtionship. It’s truly enviable.”
Charlie nodded, reflecting, “These photos capture their early rtionship. They have always been deeply affectionate. As far back as I can remember, they never argued. Even when disagreements arose, one of them would quickly yield before things escted.”
Curious, Lin Wan’er (ni) asked, “Who usually concedes first?”
Charlie pondered for a moment before responding, “It’s tough to say who gives in first. They have a remarkable understanding of each other’s feelings and can sense when the other is more resolute about something. If they realize one is moremitted to a particr stance, they gracefully concede.”
Lin Wan’er (ni) sighed, “It’s rare to find two people who can bnce each other so effectively.”
Charlie nodded again, then turned the page to the third section of the album.
On this page, an image in the upper right corner depicted a quaint antique shop. The shop had a charmingly retro vibe, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
