Gunbir began telling his story, “The most recent incident happened the night before yesterday. I saw him sitting in a Cadic parked at the street corner. A Chong, a member of the Chinese gang, came out of the nightclub, and before I knew it, his younger brother pulled him into the car. Suddenly, I heard a gunshot, followed by a mist of blood spraying from the rear door. A Chong’s body was then pushed out, and the Cadic sped away. Yes…”
Charlie nodded, curious, and asked, “Do you often find yourselves bullying men and women in Chinatown?”
Gunbir shook his head, exining, “The Chinese gang has a unique presence in Chinatown. They do collect protection fees from us, but they genuinely assist us in solving problems, especially for illegal immigrants like ourselves. We often face bullying, and the Chinese gang typicallyes to our aid, charging reasonable rates. After all, they operate in the U.S. For small businesses like ours, while we don’t pay taxes, protection fees are a must. Inparison, the Chinese gang is actually quitepassionate…”
“I see,” Charlie continued, “You mentioned that Will Johnson was in the car at that time. Where exactly was he sitting?”
Gunbir hesitated but eventually found the courage to respond, “He was sitting behind the passenger seat.”<h3 style="background-color:DodgerBlue">
Charlie pressed on, “Was the main action happening at the back door of the car?”
Gunbir nodded, affirming, “Yes…”
“Understood,” Charlie said, taking a moment. “Did you clearly see who fired the shot?”
Gunbir shook his head again, “I couldn’t see the shooter clearly. But after A Chong was shot, I noticed the window behind the passenger seat was rolled down, and I saw Will Johnson spitting out.”
Charlie turned to Will Johnson, asking sternly, “Let me be clear: Did you kill A Chong from the Chinese gang?”
Will Johnson quickly shook his head, insisting, “It wasn’t me, I swear!”
Charlie then addressed the other four individuals present, stating, “If any of you tells me the truth, you can save yourselves from five bullets. However, if you choose to lie or refuse to answer, I will not hesitate to make you eat those bullets. I’ll even dismantle your pistols and make you consume the parts.”
The four individuals were visibly anxious, drenched in sweat.
Charlie’s threat about consuming pistol parts struck a deep fear in them. After experiencing the pain of swallowing more than a dozen bullets, they realized they might have a chance to excrete themter. Yet, eating the parts of a pistol seemed far worse; at least being shot would be swift.
In the end, several of them corrected their stories, iming it was Will Johnson who shot and killed the Chinese gang member known as A Chong. Will’s face turned ashen; he wanted to defend himself but feared the betrayal from those around him. He recalled how Charlie was known for repaying evil deeds twofold.
His heart raced with fear. Had he really killed A Chong from the Chinese gang? Would Charlie seek vengeance against him today?
Just as he was caught in his fearful thoughts, Charlie asked Gunbir, “Do you know the leader of the Chinese gang?”
Gunbir quickly replied, “Yes, I know him. His name is Ni Dawei. He used to visit the store frequently.”<fn0ee0> This text is hosted at fι?dnοvel</fn0ee0>
Uncle Arman, who had been listening, chimed in, “Master, Ni Dawei escaped from the maind to Hong Kong Ind in his younger days, then made his way to the United States. Despite being involved in a gang, he has a good heart.”
Charlie nodded, then turned back to Gunbir, asking, “Can you help me find him?”
Gunbir contemted for a moment, responding, “Mr. Wade, I think Big Viagra has gone into hiding to avoid trouble. It might not be easy to locate him right now.”
Uncle Arman added, “He probably hasn’t left Chinatown. He might be hiding at Monroe Hair Salon. I understand his habits; he believes that the most dangerous ce is often the safest.”
Gunbir eximed, “No way, Uncle Arman… Everyone in Chinatown knows that the owner of Monroe Hair Salon is Big Viagra’s lover. He wouldn’t dare to hide there now…”
Uncle Arman urged, “Don’t ask so many questions. Just go to Monroe Hair Salon, tell the owner that I’ve returned, and ask her toe meet me.”
