Rumors from those who attended the celebration said Ka wept for the death of Young ck, who was meant to inherit the title.

The deaths of Luna Tahlia and her son were officially announced. Their home had been burned to the ground, and the ashes of their werewolf forms were gathered for the funeral rites.

The pack mourned the loss of their rightful leaders, yet celebrated the rise of the new ones.

No word came from Hue Pack. No word came from the Lycan Kingdom.

And though part of me longed for Lycannar, I stayed in bed at the White Pack.

“Mydy? Mydy?” A knock came with Blue’s gentle voice behind it.

“The door’s not locked,” I called.

She stepped in, a faint frown on her face, and approached the bed. Her sigh was shaky.

“Mydy, don’t you think you should visit Princess Mearez so she can check on you?”

I looked away, steadying my breath. I’d been sick since that night. The healers had already been by, I’d rested, taken the potions they provided but I never felt any better.

Thest thing I wanted was to step into Lycannar’s kingdom just yet.

Blue’s worried gaze lingered on me, and I almost smiled. It is strangefort having a Lycan by my side when their king seemed to neglect me

Still… that night, Lycannar had done the best part. If not for his curse, I would have thought Luna Tahlia will be safe and left her unprotected.

But still Lycannar seem to have hidden something. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Even his sister Mearez who is always quick to help had withdrawn. Which meant there is a reason. A heavy one.

I was lost in thought until I heard the sound of horses stopping outside. I paused, listening, expecting the familiar warmth but nothing followed. My frown deepened.

    “Check who it is.”

Blue went to the window and peered out. I watched her expression shift before she turned to me.

“It’s the Alpha from Hue Pack.”

    Nyroth.

    Why is he here?

From what I have heard he had attended the ascension of Alpja Yadev.

I almost rolled my eyes in exhaustion. I had no time for his games and no desire to see him after what he’d done. He’d helped Ka forge the false evidence that doomed Luna Tahlia.

The knock came again, followed by the sound of the front door opening and closing. Momentster, The bedchamber door I shared with my best friend swung open. Dessyn stood there, her lip curling in disgust.

“Your ex is at the door.”

If only he truly is my ex.

Forcing myself to push past my weakness, I stepped toward the exit, Blue close behind.

I opened the main door to find Nyroth standing there with a chest in his hands. My brow arched, but I stepped forward, waiting for him to speak.

    “Zeph… how have you been?”

I stared, hearing something unfamiliar in his tone. What was he ying at?

    “What do you want, Nyroth?”

He swallowed, eyes fixed on me, then opened the chest. Inside, he took out a hairpin I instantly recognized.

    My heart lurched.

“Where… where did you find this?”

“Many years ago at a festival,” he began, and I snapped my gaze to him. “Rogues attacked. I was caught in the fire… and…”

“And I saved a boy,” I murmured, realization dawning.

“When you shifted into your wolf, the hairpin fell,” he said quietly. “I didn’t know it was broken until I picked it up. That night… that boy you saved was me, Zeph.”

“Our bond… it wasn’t coincidence. After the white wolf fled, I passed out. When I woke, it was Ka I saw… and I thought it was her who had saved me. I loved her ever since. But it was you. At the arenast week, when you fought, even without shifting, I knew. It was you I loved. It’s always been you.”

A cold shiver ran down my spine.

“Zeph…” His voice softened as he caught my hand, holding it with a tenderness I’d never seen from him. “Forget the past, the cheats, the insults, the pain. I want you back. I’ll announce to the whole empire you are my mate. If my mother or sister speak against you, they’ll pay tenfold. I love you, Zeph. I’m sorry it took me this long to see it.”

A proposal in broad daylight fron my fated mate. My heart stilled.

And then… I suddenly felt it.

The presence I knew without seeing. Lycannar Blood.

He stood at the far end of the path, dressed in ck as always, hair tied back, hands at his sides.

But his eyes… they went first to Nyroth’s hand holding mine.

When they found my gaze, a shudder went through me. I had never seen Lycannar jealous, never truly angry with me.

But now… oh no. I had just opened a very dangerous door.
